I'd never had the bacon cheese fries before, and they definitely didn't disappoint. The fries were hot, perfectly crispy, and paired beautifully with the rich, creamy melted cheese and smoky bacon. They were easily the highlight of the meal. The staff was also incredibly friendly, which always makes the experience better when you're traveling. Got hungry while waiting for a flight, so I decided to grab a burger and fries from Shake Shack in the airport. From past bad experiences with burgers and product quality issues in many different airport restaurants, I normally don't order burgers because they are always cold, dry, tasteless, and downright horrible. But this burger from Shake Shack was surprisingly very good. I ordered from the self-serving kiosk and the wait time for my order was about 5 minutes. The entire restaurant including the counter area, dining area, and even the condiments station was all very clean and inviting. I ordered the Double Shack Burger made with two smashed angus beef patties, American cheese, and topped with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and Shack Sauce on a toasted potato bun, an order of fries and a 20 oz bottled drink for $24.79. A little step, but of course, all menu items are à la carte, and this is airport dining. The bun was fresh soft, and lightly toasted. The burger patties were nicely smashed, hot, juicy, the cheese melted and all the condiments were fresh, cool, and bright. This burger was prepared with care and assembled beautifully to create the perfect burger. The crinkle cut fries were perfectly cooked, lightly salted, and golden brown. This store is located near the exit gate close to Gate A8 in Terminal A. It's in front of a huge window looking out to the tarmac, looks absolutely stunning throughout the day with amazing sunlight and views. They open the store very early, it was open when we were at the airport around 7am. Dining area was neat and clean. The menu has all the SS burgers, shakes, lemonade and bites. On top of that they have special breakfast menu that I haven't seen in any other SS outside. There's bunch of egg n cheese sandwiches and hash browns available. This is a very bright, spacious, and clean location in the newly-renovated Terminal A of Newark Airport. The service was very friendly. Props to the workers for being there so early, long before the crack of dawn! Although I've had Shake Shack for years, this was my first time trying breakfast. I was very curious to see what it would be like. Well, now I know :) It's definitely a thinner breakfast sandwich. The bread is soft and lightly toasted. It's the same bread they use for the burgers, but I think it works better with the burgers. The bacon and egg are also on the thinner side, though there is an option to add more egg. I'm not a fan of American cheese, and there was no sauce, so all things considered, this was a soft, yet dry and underwhelming breakfast sandwich. It could use at least 30% more moisture. The tater tots were piping hot and crispy. Probably the best item in this breakfast. It would be great if they offered some topping options. The coffee, though, was something else... the most expensive drip coffee I've ever had and also the worst-tasting: gritty, flavorless, burnt, and watery. My bad for not checking the price before ordering it. Overall, I think it's still good to have as an option for breakfast, but not worth the $16+ I paid. At EWR preparing for a flight heading out of the Tri-State Area, I noticed a location of Shake Shake airside in the terminal as I was walking towards my gate early in the morning. And having been in the New York area, I had not had a visit to Shake Shack a single time. Having been to many of their locations in California, I figured I would try a location on the East Coast and see if we've been missing something on the opposite end of the US. The menu items were just the same as any of your typical Shake Shack locations with the only difference being the availability of the "Red Eye Shake" which mixed coffee elements into the shake. For this visit, breakfast items were the most popular as I was ordering in the morning. But craving a burger, I decided on a Double Shack Burger ($11.69), an order of Fries ($5.69) and a Strawberry Shake with Whipped Cream ($7.64). With a large group of people waiting before me, my food was ready in about 10 minutes time. This particular location in the airport was special in that there were seats next to the large floor to ceiling windows which allowed me to look onto the runway while I consumed my food. Looking at price for the amount of food given, everything was pretty similar to Shake Shack locations outside of the airport. Looking at the burger first, it was exactly as you would see elsewhere with two patties, a slice of cheese, a slice of tomato, and a piece of lettuce inside. I believe the tomato and lettuce were larger than what I've seen in other states which was definitely a plus. Moving to the fries next, the tray seemed to be larger in size which allowed for a larger portion of fries. And as for the strawberry shake last, the size seemed as normal. The quantity for all of this food was great in my eyes, especially in an airport where food prices tend to be inflated. In contrast to the consistent quantity, the food items seemed of higher quality than the other locations I've been to. For one, the tomato and lettuce tasted as fresh as if they were just prepared. But of anything, the patties were crisp and glistening on the perimeter. Each patty was seasoned very well and was full of flavor from the angus beef. Adding the cheese in gave some extra moisture to the beef which made the ingredients melt in the mouth. Moving to try the fries next, they tasted more crispy than other Shake Shack locations which really surprised me. Furthermore, the fries were lightly salted which made them great as a stand-alone snack. For last, the strawberry shake was thick, so much so that it was thicker than the shakes I've had in other locations. The strawberry flavor was prominent in the ice cream put inside. And when stirred in with the whipped cream, I found the shake to taste lighter than otherwise which made the drink taste almost flurry-like. From a taste perspective, I don't think I've had a better experience at a Shake Shack anywhere else. This certainly isn't my first time at a Shake Shack location. But from all of my previous experiences, none of them have compared to this location at New Jersey's own airport. The price was comparable to other Shake Shack locations, the quality of the food was on par if not better than many of the other locations I've visited, and the dining area was spacious and unique for the most part. If in New Jersey's EWR airport and are looking for a bite to eat, I'd highly recommend this particular Shake Shack location! Great work guys! read more

Reminded me a bit of the chicken place that's closed on Sundays! This is a solid Shake Shack at EWR airport. There is a good amount of seating and when I went, there were a lot of staff so service was pretty smooth. Never had shake shack before and found the perfect opportunity to try with it right next to my gate! To start, service was great. All of the employees were joking around. Prices were good comparatively, $11 for a double cheeseburger and $10 for a 24 ounce beer. Not bad for airport prices. The burger was delicious and perfectly cooked - super flavorful. Was craving some good fries and was super excited to see they had a Shake Shack centrally located in terminal A. There was a long line but it moved quickly and the food came out quick. My husband and I shared a hot dog, cheese fry and fresh lemonade. Hot dog was cooked to perfection and split in the middle with grille lines and all (king of dogs!). On a recent afternoon I sat down to compare Shake Shack reviews to those of In-N-Out and found, consistently, that In-N-Out came out on top. During a recent stay at Newark Airport I had the chance to test this conclusion. Owing to a flight that was threatening to board, my order was kept to the minimum: A ShackBurger ($7.95) is their terminology for Cheeseburger and though I'd have liked onions on it I didn't take the time to add them to my order. The consensus? With some pebble-like pieces of gristle in the mix, the ShackBurger isn't in the same league as a burger from In-N-Out. The rest of the menu may prove better but based on this burger I have a difficult time understanding the hype.
