Charming cafe with friendly, warm service and delicious food. During a recent road trip, we stopped by Nick's Sandwich Shop, and it was a wonderful experience and a nice respite from our long drive. We ordered the meatball sandwich, the eggplant parmesan sandwich, and the chicken and rice soup. The sandwiches were incredibly tasty, with an excellent marinara sauce and great mouth feel. The bread also was amazing - I think it may have been an Aversa seeded roll. The sandwiches were huge servings, and we packed half to go. It was a cold, rainy day, so we also craved warm soup. The chicken and rice soup was probably the best I have ever had - it had a golden hue, flavorful and clear broth, and perfectly cooked rice and carrots, with just the right amount of tender white meat chicken. That soup was so delicious that we ordered another serving to go. Nick's strikes us as a family business, where they take great pride in their homemade recipes and treat everyone like family. The guy who took our order, brought our food, and interacted with us was so friendly, genuinely kind, and helpful. We also noticed that he was equally friendly to all customers. Second time coming to this shop! First time I had the Gambino which is my favorite sandwich so far even though they are all incredible. You will not be disappointed with whichever you pick. Ask for the garlic house aioli and the house pesto aioli sauce compliment the sandwiches if you like sauces. I stumbled upon this shop while I was in town for work and I'm so glad that I did (but also so sad that I don't live closer!) Nick's reminded me so much of my old high school sub shop hangout from my youth, complete with a group of teens/tweens hanging out and sharing some sandwiches. I didn't know what to get, but was steered toward the Brooklyn by the super friendly staff and I'm happy to pass along that recommendation. The eggplant was perfectly seasoned and crisp. The fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers, and balsamic vinegar were a fantastic combination. I have ordered a couple of times from Nicks Sandwich Shop. The food is great, No complaints on that end. You can tell they use high quality ingredients but still does not explain their price breakdown. 1 empanada costs 3.50$ (Sauce included) and 12 pieces costs 34$. The empanada is about 3-4 inches long and if you wind up not ordering the 12 piece, you can expect to only see 1 sauce cup for however many empanada's you ordered. Once again the food is great but the prices need to be updated to a more accurate standing. read more

I must say, Nick's Sandwich Shop exceeded my expectations! The sandwich I had was absolutely delicious, fresh meat and packed with flavor. I tried the #1 (ham, salami, and provolone), and wow, I was beyond pleased. I also had the empanadas and tried the beef, which was incredibly tasty. Go out of your way to find this small genuine sandwich, shop, in a small strip mall. Just amazing. The deli sandwiches are fresh and packed full of ingredients and the hot sandwiches are something special. Make sure to order the hot roast turkey or meatball or chicken Parm sandwiches. They will rank in the best you've ever had. They have specials every week that are always worth checking out. Service is prompt and friendly and catering is available and affordable. My husband raved that the Classic panini was "the best sandwich I've EVER eaten;" he was especially impressed with the prosciutto. He's an excellent cook himself, so this is no small compliment. I had The Soprano, which was delicious. Both sandwiches were enormous - enough for lunch AND dinner. Hidden gem! Family owned excellence! Stumbled upon this option while on a bike ride on the Saddle River path. The interior is spotless and it gives super cute mom and Pop vibes. This was my first visit to Nick's Sandwich Shop. It doesn't have the tackiest signage which is why I missed it the first time. I came back and parked in the lot. The entrance is within a tunnel located at the center of the building, accessed only from the parking lot but not from the street. It was a Thursday at 11:30am and I was the only customer plus a few phone orders were placed during my stay. I ordered the Brooklyn sandwich which contained eggplant on a toasted bun. I enjoyed my meal while watching and listening to local cable news. I didn't experience fast food quickness so plan to spend a little time here.
