Been coming to this cafe for years! Super cute & aesthetic cafe! Service is always friendly & attentive. Food is always great! Cute cafe to catch up with friends and family!
Such a charming and eclectics place, Cafe Bubamara is an absolute delight. The service was friendly and welcoming. The decor is very flea market chic. They also have beautiful garden seating. I ordered Turkish coffee, fresh grapefruit juice, Gurmanski dorucak, mini burek with spinach and cheese, and fruit cake. I love Turkish coffee and this was very good. The juice was tart and delicious. The breakfast platter was a showstopper. Two fried eggs, tomato, feta, two meat patties, and homemade bread. The flavors of the meat blew my mind. Who knew that Croatians make the most delicious burgers. This is a hearty and fantastic dish. Also, the burek was flaky and light and not very mini. I took home the cake and enjoyed it later. Light, delicate and not overly sweet, this was a star. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you should stop in for any meal. What we ordered: * Greek Salad - $18.50 * Cappuccino - $6.80 * Herbal Tea - $6.00 * Uštipci - $17.25 * Musaka - $22.95 * Šnicla (Cutlet Sandwich) - $20.75 * 2 Diet Cokes - $8.00 The musaka is a baked dish and does take about 25 minutes to prepare, as it's made fresh with baked eggs, seasoned beef, and sliced potatoes layered on top. The wait is well worth it, resulting in a hearty, comforting dish that tastes authentically homemade. The Šnicla (cutlet sandwich) arrived beautifully presented on a wooden board, adding a rustic, elevated touch that matched the restaurant's aesthetic. Mom felt it lacked in seasoning but she Didnt leave any crumbs . The Uštipci were a standout--served with feta and honey, generously portioned, and so plentiful that we happily took some home. We were too full for dessert this time, but it's absolutely on the list for a return visit. I'm v adventurous w regard to food n like to try diff cuisines.when they had international day at work employees made different dishes from various countries. Macedonian cuisine caught my eye. Was delicious n different ever since then wanted to try other Macedonian food. A fellow employee recommended cafe bubamara n thought I'd try it w another friend for lunch, Cafe is in the heart of Clifton in botany village n I've never Been there. Cute restaurant. Under renovation so u had to go in thru side next to the pathed car. Very quaint. Decorated very nice. Friendly welcoming staff, We tried the veggie panini and mini burek- meat n spinach feta cheese. Thought was mini but they were quite big. Enjoyed the meat burek n a small piece of the spinach/ feta as my tummy was already full. Very nice flaky pastry n filling tasted yummy. The veggie panini was a generous portion w tomatoes roasted red peppers, olive tapenade n goat cheese. Tasted really good. Finished only half portion of it. Tx u for a great lunch, will be back again.
The plethora of fake flowers EVERYWHERE should have been the first red flag (at least they weren't dusty). Flowers even engulfed the flat screen TV. All the chicken based entrees and sandwiches had zero taste. Seasoning anyone? $4.00 for a teeny coke and no tap water available. Salads also were forgettable but the barak was tasty and with the right amount of flaky fluff. I say stick to the barak and perhaps grab a desert. This place maybe ok for a first date (cause it can be quite cozy) or just grab a desert after dinner elsewhere.
It's a cute restaurant with nice outdoor area which is nice when it's good weather. Tried their fresh lemonade, however I wasn't impressed and it's pricey. You have to add your own sugar in. But the fresh spinach and cheese burek was warm, crispy and delightful! It's one of the things they are known for so def try a burek. We also ordered the veggie pizza which was like upside down pizza made with fresh bread. We got the rafato cake for dessert to go and it was okay. The waiter was helpful in giving suggestions and letting us know what they are known for which is burek and beignets. As some of the items are made fresh it does take time to get your food once you order. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try and can't wait to go back to try other items along with the Turkish coffee. It's street parking and we were able to find spot easily.
What is a bubamara? Bubamara means ladybug in South Slavic languages! Loved finding the ladybugs throughout the stunningly beautiful Cafe Bubamara! While looking for a brunch we saw the beautiful images of cafe Bubamara. Upon arrival we parked at the public parking lot, a block across the restaurant. The restaurant was pretty packed, but we were lucky to get a table right away. As we walked thru the restaurant, we got to see the gorgeous aesthetics of this place, filled with colors, flowers, and greenery. The menu had so many unique Turkish dishes I had never seen before. I started with the Turkish coffee, a hardcore black coffee that came in a small cute kettle pot which few sugar cubes in a bowl. The mini burek was a delicious bread filled with ground beef. Ustipci, that is like beignet, was full of fluffy soft yummy dough, with a bunch of cheese cubes. The domaci dorucak was a dish of three spicy beef sausages with side of bread, cheese and cucumber. The sausages were excellent. Our dishes were served in quick time. Service was amazing. Simply put we loved everything about this place, the food, the service, the ambience. We will be dining here more often now for sure.
Went here for a quick bite before heading to an event and it was a great experience. the backyard has a wonderful garden with luscious flowers and greenery. the food i got a chicken quesadilla and it came with salsa guacamole and sour cream. very flavorful and delicious. the front desk staff was condescending with an attitude but once we got to the garden the staff was very sweet and took care of my party. i'll totally go back here if im ever in the area!
Charming and lovely cafe at Clifton NJ. The decoration was beyond words. Flowers and antiques brought the ambiance to a different level. I like beef sausage links, very juicy and flavorful. Bread and pita are all toasted and buttered. Chicken sausages are a little dry. I don't like the ice tea. The iconic coffee is quite strong. It got really crowded for brunch / lunch. We went by 1130/12 and luckily got a table. The staff were friendly and attentive.
The atmosphere and garden are beautiful, if crowded and slightly claustrophobic. I had a couple of key issues. First, the breakfast platter with the beef sausage. My friend and I both got the same thing and both our eggs were cooked differently; hers were runny and mine were fully cooked. The sausage had an extremely gamey and meaty funk that made them hard to stomach. The bread did not come with butter or oil. The Turkish very coffee was good, however, and served in lovely cups. The restaurant also allows dogs in the outdoor area. Not sure if they're service animals only, but it was such a tight space that it made things uncomfortable. I would perhaps give this spot another chance to try the borek.
Listen- my friend and I didn't come nearly hungry enough so next time we go I'm trying more than just a salad and an app, but both were amazing!! We got coffee as well but it was fine- nothing special. They have a gorgeous outdoor patio that we missed because it was closed for the day for some reason, but the interior was very cozy so no complaints there. These little fried things were to diiiiie for, and eat them with the feta and honey and its chefs kiss! Will definitely be back :)
The atmosphere in the place is very warm, the welcome is very friendly when you enter the establishment, the music was in accordance with the place very well done. When I asked our waitress Natasha for her recommendation on the menu, she explained it to me very well, very good professionalism, apart from very attentive at the table at all times, I think it was a very good experience. In food wow the scrambled eggs were super fresh very well cooked with honesty instead of reading a review it is better to visit the place and make your own conclusions. But very well recommended 100%

The food here is so fresh and pretty good. The ideal starter is the ustipci which is bread with feta cubes and honey. It's an interesting combo but it is delicious. For the mains, there are several items to choose from and our table had the snicla which is a chicken cutlet sandwich, carne asada sandwich, onaj nas sandwich and a flatbread. The overall table favorite was the snicla, flatbread and onaj nas. We also had two mini burek one with cheese and one with meat and their cevapi. The service is alright, the staff didn't seem to care or come back to check in with the table. The worst part of this is they automatically add a tip regardless of your party size. The ambiance is okay, it has the full European vibe and guest will be sitting outside in the front smoking or in the back smoking. Overall, Cafe Bubamara is a great place for lunch or dinner they have a great selection for dishes from savory to sweet and everything tastes extremely fresh. read more

I am surprised I haven't reviewed Cafe Bubamara before because I thought I had. What an awesome spot, Turkish coffee was spot on with a Turkish delight treat on the side. Interesting and creative dishes to try here- anything in puff pastry was really tasty, delicious fillings. I've come here twice and would come again. read more

I stumbled upon this café by pure chance and let me tell you I'm so glad I did! The moment I walked in I was hit with that "Wow everything looks amazing!" feeling. The menu? Impossible to choose from. Every dish that passed by had me and my sister side-eyeing each other like "Oooooo that looks good too!" When my food finally arrived... perfection. Every bite was packed with flavor. So delicious I already know I'm coming back for more. And the vibe? It felt like I had stepped out of Clifton and into somewhere completely different. Cozy stylish and just the right amount of charm. Definitely adding this spot to my favorites! Can't wait to come back and try more! read more

my husband and i got a rare opportunity for a toddler free date recently and we were so excited to finally try Cafe Bubamara. we were seated out back which was decorated with lovely flowers and lighting. my husband ordered a turkish coffee while i got a lemonade. we shared afew things on the menu so we could try as much as possible. my husband loved the durek bread and it was similar to a stromboli but came with a bowl of sour cream?! yes please. we shared a chocolate walnut torte and this was my favorite thing. it was light in texture but rich in flavor and the walnuts were crunchy and fresh. their cappucino was one of the best i've had in a while. the menu had photos of nearly everything on the menu which is super helpful! there is a lot of stuff we can't wait to try when we come back :) read more
Cafe Bubamara features Balkan food and cozy vibes. I wish it was warmer because the outdoor seating looks inviting. We were seated immediately and received a warm welcome. We saw the dessert display as we walked to table and knew we needed to save room. We were brought water (only bottled water is served) and a yogurt drink. We were advised to stir water to loosen the house made yogurt before drinking. It was tart and refreshing. The chicken cutlet sandwich and borek (delicate pastry filled with spinach and cheese) were ordered. The borek was recommended and came out after the sandwich because it took longer to bake. Both entrees came out hot and fresh. Tea was served in adorable tea pots. The tortas (napoleon-like layered cakes) were recommended. I ordered the vocna torta (filled with blueberry, strawberry, raspberry, walnuts, and a raspberry cream) and the ferrero rocher cake (layers of walnuts, Nutella and mascarpone cream). This is my favorite go to coffee shop We love their cheese Burek and the Turkish coffee. The desserts are also incredible. However the positive atmosphere takes the cake We have been here countless times and the service only gets better. The design and quality has always been amazing. Located at 263 Parker Ave in Clifton's Botany Village, this establishment is set up well to take solo diners or large groups and transports one to Southeast Europe through both the food and the atmosphere since 2014. Café Bubamara translates from Serbian for ladybug where some of us haven't returned to dine after 4 years. This is first come, first served, where reservations are not taken. Upon arrival tonight for dinner, the vibe was warm, relaxed, and cozy, as if you've entered into a family member's dining room with photos of notables from the former Yugoslavia era. The open-air patio area was like being in someone's backyard, with plants, comfortable seating areas, and the music everywhere as my partner, our friends and I got a table right away. Space heaters were available for those cool evenings. Their large picture menu offered traditional Balkan dishes such as common street foods such as burek (pie or pastry made of phyllo dough with a variety of fillings), cevapi (grilled Serbian sausages), and pljeskavice (grilled meat patty), as well as homestyle dishes such as popara (bread porridge), kacamak (maize porridge), and homemade strudel. As an appetizer, we went for the Uštipci served with honey and feta cheese. For the main meal, we decided on the Skirt Steak Carne Asada Sandwich, Devrek (beef), Mediterranean Chicken, Balkan Burger, and Chicken in Mushroom Sauce. The presentation alone was worthy of an order. The food was beyond amazingly tasty and well seasoned with fresh ingredients. The staff were friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about their cuisine, especially our server, Bernard. One doesn't feel rushed to get out like other eateries. The portions were generous, and the prices were more than reasonable considering the authenticity and quality of the food. This is obviously the type of place that patrons living within five or ten miles will make their regular local hangout. It's also worth coming from farther distance for the unique items coming out of the kitchen, which we continue to recommend. read more

Great staff, very accommodating to the seating options here. Cozy leather seats near the window on the second floor, and the food is so delicious. A little small for a big guy like me, haha, and the dessert is tasty. I've never had food like this, so I'm pleasantly surprised to stumble upon a nice café like this. Loved every moment. This place is so cute. We only stopped in for an appetizer as we thought the menu would have kebabs but it's a sandwich cafe. Loved the burrata and fresh orange juice. Would definitely return to try other things. Also service was really great. read more

This cafe is me and my boyfriend's first date place 2years past we still like the place but I don't know why the Coustomer servis got low. we got seated next to the entrance, but it was very cold because the door was always opening and closing. We asked them if we could sit in the back and they acted a little pissed. But the food are very nice just a reminder in winter times don't sit next to the entrance. read more
Omg where do I start?!? This is a super cute place and the back patio is a must see! Definitely try their Turkish coffee if you visit (that's if you like strong coffee). The food is also amazing in the portions are pretty big so can be shared. read more
The place was absolutely Gorgeous!! Lovely place for a nice brunch. They have a lot of options for food. Kid friendly menu too. Their bread is splendid. Perfectly baked. The only complaint i had was a bit of cleanliness and service. My soda glass smelt awfullll. Like rotten eggs. When asked to replace the glass, our server took forever, but the other glass smelt the same. I let it go and had the food without my drink. read more

Having been to the establishment 4 times already. Yesterday's brunch was very disappointing. The latte I ordered was delivered cold. I asked my veg. Omelette with feta cheese and instead of the goat however I could taste that initially goat was added. To add the eggs were overcooked and rubbery. The multi grain french was very bland and would not recommend at all. The meal itself left me dissatisfied. I had to ask for the bread which was part of the order separately and then butter as well. I'm a fan of Turkish cuisine but sadly there just aren't many good Turkish restaurants around where I live. Fortunately, I was in the Clifton area one day and got to check out Cafe Bubamara. I've heard and read a lot of good things about this neighborhood gem and was very excited to finally be able to check it out. The restaurant is small but they did a good job maximizing the useability of the space they have. I really like the eastern European decor and atmosphere. I came on a weekday round 11am and the restaurant was already 75% full, which is a good sign. As far as I know they do not take reservations. So come early, especially on weekends. The menu is much larger than I expected and has a nice layout accompanied by pictures of the food. There were many things I wanted to try, but with a party of just two people we were only able to order a few things. We opted for the Bubamara breakfast platter, Bubamara omelette, meat burek, and Turkish coffee. Everything was great, but the highlight for me was the burek. It was flaky, crispy, and meticulously layered to perfection. The succulent filling of the seasoned minced meat was rich in aroma and perfectly cooked to tender perfection. Just the smell of it as it arrived at our table was enough to make me salivate. Will definitely come back again as there were many other items I wanted to try on the menu. Came upon this cute spot and stayed for the cozy, homey dishes! Our server recommended the Ustipci as a starter and that was the best way to start our meal - fried but light dough with airy pockets to stuff with feta cheese and sweet honey. I shared two dishes - the savory crepe with grilled chicken and Zeljanica (spinach and feta pie). Both were such new tastes to me and it's so satisfying when new foods taste even better than your expectations! -The crepe was crunchy yet the inside was like a rolled tortilla/hot pocket-esq - very comforting. -I expected the savory pie to be eggy or spongey but not at all! It was very cornmeal-like and again, very warm and satisfying. The spicy feta mixture really topped this off! Would love to come again and try other dishes - their menu is extensive! read more
