Our server recommended the Ustipci as a starter and that was the best way to start our meal - fried but light dough with airy pockets to stuff with feta cheese and sweet honey. I shared two dishes - the savory crepe with grilled chicken and Zeljanica (spinach and feta pie). Both were such new tastes to me and it's so satisfying when new foods taste even better than your expectations! -The crepe was crunchy yet the inside was like a rolled tortilla/hot pocket-esq - very comforting. -I expected the savory pie to be eggy or spongey but not at all! I absolutely loved this place! It is gorgeous in every nook and crannie of the restaurant and the garden is so wonderful! The menu is huge and has an extensive amount of delicious meals on it. The staff was nice and generally okay, but we waited for our check for a while but I don't even care because the food was fantastic! I got the breakfast wrap which has chicken, eggs, tomato, spinach and mozzarella cheese and come with a side of red pepper spread. I got it without the cheese and this was a top 5 wrap for me. It was warm (and stayed warms the entire time I was eating it) and so incredibly flavorful throughout and the eggs were perfecting cooked and fluffy. The red peppers spread was also delicious. I saw Bureks coming out for people around us and my jaw dropped at the size of them. I was genuinely jealous I didn't order one of them. The service was amazing here! We came in to have breakfast as we have heard about it before. We were welcomed extremely warm and we were sat inside. However, they let us know they had a beautiful patio we were not aware and took us there. It is extremely beautiful all around. I came here after my friend's birthday dinner, I was excited to come to this place after seeing the pictures of the cafe on Yelp. We arrive there at 9. They looked at us very strangely so we realized that they were closing soon. They let us know that they close at 9:30, but they would make an exception and stay open to 10. As we were finishing our coffee and desserts at 9:45, the lady server abruptly started taking our plates and cups in a rudely manner. After having a nice time in a nice place I was so disappointed. Very cozy and cute cafe. I had a party of 3 and we arrived around 11:30 am on a Saturday. We were seated immediately in the back area, which had heaters so it was very warm! This area is so well decorated. It truly elevated the dining experience! By the time we finished around 1 pm, the cafe was completely filled. I got the burek sa nutelom - it was very hot when it came out so make sure to give it some time to cool down. It was delicious, sweet, and very filling! I was so full once I finished it. Wow. This place is so cute!! And it's perfect for a date night. My boyfriend and I came here the other night. Didn't need a reservation. So cute inside. We had the Turkish coffee to start. The menu is huge! We had the bruschetta, burek with meat (beef), the fried goat cheese, the Gorgonzola chicken, the tost sandwich, the custard desert, and the layered chocolate cake. Every was so good. Service was excellent. The owner, Alex, was walking around and checked on us a few times. Very nice guy! Excellent food. Lemonade was fresh. They have sweet and unsweet. What a fun surprise! I stumbled across this place when I was in Clifton for an errand. The Turkish coffee was perfection and came on the most gorgeous serving tray. I tried a baked crepe dish filled with chicken and tomato that was absolutely delicious! I loved the tangy sauce and pickles it came with, though I removed the cheese on top to make it a bit lighter. I'm so glad I finally got to try Cafe Bubamara! My friend treated me as a "send of" dinner and I wish I have tried this place before. Every time I was in the are, there wasn't parking so I had to keep driving. The entrance are is small, I wish they either removed a table so we don't feel claustrophobic or expand a bit. Our waitress was the coolest, she even got my friend a bottle of milk at her request. We ordered Turkish coffee, mint tea, some nutty chocolate cake, a some spinach feta dish (forgot the name lol), it was gigantic but delicious and cheap! Took two trips before making a review. Nice place with good burek. I've gotten it both times I went and I was not disappointed. They have two sizes. Mini and personal. Little over priced - EX. $8 for orange juice. Would enjoy the restaurant more if the staff was more pleasant. They look like they are always annoyed. It's a unique layout with indoor and outdoor seating all splayed around - a consequence of a narrow building in downtown Clifton. Your choice of hot outside or cold inside. Anyway, as far as food for my first time, I tried the one person kacamak and small burek. Pro tip: they feed you here. Each of those could be a meal on its own. The kacamak is like an Eastern European cheesy grits. Fresh cheese bits scattered throughout. But trust me, the one person is enough for several to share as a side. it's a bit much for a meal on its own. The burek was flaky perfection, maybe could have used a tiny bit more meat but was wonderful. Interesting to have foreign soda available... but no tap water was a downer. Oh well. I came here with a friend to try a new spot and saw photos of this place online thinking it would be a cute addition to our coffee journey. I will say space is slightly tight throughout but it's not uncomfortable and the staff definitely try to accommodate you, as I came with a baby in a car seat. We first ordered the Turkish coffee which I was worried when I saw it came black but was pleasantly surprised at how delicious and strong it was. It was also served in a beautiful coffee set with sugar cubes. We then ordered a basket which was fried dough with feta and honey. I was so surprised to discover the dough was hollow leaving an amazing and airy texture. It was so filling and with the honey and feta was heaven!! We were getting so full but then ordered the beef sausage plate which was slightly spicy but again delicious. We finished off with dessert, which was a hazelnut and vanilla cake and it was again cloudy, airy and light. We left so full but not with a feel of disgust. The food was filling but airy. This is a secret haven! I never knew this place existed until it was suggested to me. It looks small from the street view but it's actually very big inside and in the back and each room/section has its aesthetic. The different aesthetics alone make you want to come back and sit in a different spot each time to experience the different vibes. The menu is packed with quality of Turkish/Mediterranean meals. I was staring at each person plate come out of the kitchen and each one I wanted to try. I thought I got basic chicken fingers for lunch but they were breaded in cornflakes. EPIC! The ustipci (friend donuts) reminds me of what my grandmother used to make. The burek is flaky and moist. The cevapi is quite good - so the Balkan Burger is a good option if you're a carnivore. And ordering a Turkish Coffee is always a cherry on top. In my opinion, menu is not 100% consistent in good traditional eats, but there are definitely some top tier things to enjoy. The ambiance is cool especially when their greenhouse is open, but the inside is super tight. You feel like you're sitting with the table next to you. It's very uncomfortable for groups unless you're in the greenhouse area. The servers are sometimes friendly and sometimes not. It's a shame that they don't even give you a glass of water - you have to buy a $2-$3 bottle. We have also had experiences where service has made comments about us bringing in our own water bottles. Super lame! Plus, prices are ALWAYS going up. For these reasons, I think I am being very generous in giving them a three star. It's worth going back to if you are looking for the cultural vibe, cool outdoor atmosphere, or close-to-traditional meals. But, as a restaurant there are things to be desired. read more

Came here on a Saturday ~9:30a with our party of 3. From the outside, it was still quaintly decorated for Christmas. There was something charming about the exterior that welcomed you to come closer. We were quickly seated in the anterior cozy room, enough for about 8 small tables. There was an adjoining larger room for additional seating. Felt immediately comfy. Alexandra served us throughout the morning, patiently explaining several of the traditional Turkish and Balkan dishes. I started off with the Turkish coffee delivered in a beautiful setting - strong and thicker than espresso. We then shared the puff pastry called Ustipci served with honey and feta cheese. What a delightful appetizer! There was so much too! My main was the Cevapi burger - incredible flavor. You could choose from 6 or 10 of the fingerling style burger meat which made it convenient to share. The meat was served in between fresh flatbread style bun. I personally would've liked some greens to garnish but it would prob stray from its authentic dish. My partner had the Mousakka - WOW. My favorite out of all the dishes. The seasonings were PERFECTION. Sizable portion too. I really wish I had more room in my belly for dessert because there was a huge showcase of I think 14/15 different homemade cakes! Just check the website for all of the photos. We were told they can also make whole cakes for catering/pickup. Overall I highly recommend this cozy and charming cafe that is definitely different from the usual brunch fare. It is family owned and everyone was attentive to the patrons. Went here on a weekend with my best friend. We had to be placed on the waitlist and were called about 15-20 minutes later. The ambience was like a cluttered fairy cottage. The tables are so close to one another that you'll probably bump into a neighbor while getting into and out of your seat. Once seated, it can be difficult to get the staff's attention. Can only comment on the rice pudding and their Turkish coffee. I was also going to get the soup of the day because it was cold that day, but that option is only available on the weekend. The rice pudding definitely hit the spot. The Turkish coffee is sadly just a gimmick and not authentic as in there's a special way to drink it...My friend said that it was similar to having an espresso. It was still possible to have a conversation though despite the small space. If you do go for a date, would recommend making a reservation first. read more
