This place is phenomenal. Serve breakfast and lunch all day. Food tastes delicious and fresh. Service is great and the staff is super professional - they pay attention to the details. Decor is nothing crazy but the place is super clean and well organized. They do have an outdoor place which will be great during the spring and summer. Keep up the great work. I will definitely come back.
I called and asked if they had avocado toast. They said they did and gave me bread options. They also said it comes with eggs or without eggs. I feel as if in 2025 everyone should know that avocado toast consists of more than bread and avocado on top. All they gave me was toasted bread with avocado on top. No elevated flavors, no seasoning, no drizzle. Completely flavorless breakfast option. Messing up avocado toast means everything at this place is subpar unless you like plain old coffee. If you are the kind of girl who likes an oat milk latte, this is not the place for you. They should have specified it was just avocado on bread, yuck. Will not be going back. Paying for flavorless food when it's the same price of something of better quality is insane.
Came here yesterday with my wife, because she recommended it, and it was an amazing decision. Food: my wife started with an iced green tea which was refreshing on an unexpected warm winter day and we proceeded to get a smoked turkey panini (wife) and the waiter offered a wonderful suggestion of chicken and black bean wrap which was right up my alley. Very good overall food and the smoked Gouda with my wrap really put it all together. Aesthetic: adorable little place with a diner, like bar and seating in the back. I also like the patio, which I assume would be better in the spring and summer. Service: our waiter, Max, was very nice, helpful, and discussed the things he recommended at my request which was honestly a great decision. Everything came out timely and perfect.
I went there this morning with a friend and it's was new to both of us. Had an absolutely wonderful experience. The service was amazing and the food even better. They have a lovely indoor and outdoor seating selection. We ate inside and the place was very cute and cozy. Perfect especially for a Saturday morning. Would absolutely come back and tells friends and family about this place! Thank you to all of the employees and especially our waiter Tim!
I had an amazing time coming here for lunch with my coworkers. Upon entrance we were greeted and told to sit wherever we would like. From the moment we entered I already knew I would leave happy there. Halloween decor was very cute and I'm a big person on Halloween! We ordered the fried ravioli which was made to perfection. It was def tasty especially dipping it in marinara. I liked the crunchiness to it. Then I had the hot chocolate which was pretty much chocolate heaven! I was surprised the amount of hot chocolate I got , I'm so used to getting a small cup when ordering but this was def worth it. I personally had the Cuban which was enough for two people to share. It was very tasty however lacked some mustard which is fine I'm sure I could've asked for some but didn't because it tasted just as great without it . I had a side of fries which were nice and crispy not over salted at all. I tried a bite of my friend's Mexican panini which was also very tasty especially the kick of spiciness which made it even better. My friend had the hungry human which she said was good particularly loved the French toast . I can't wait to come back. Service was amazing, all the staff there were friendly and attentive.
I love this little cafe. Moving out of nutley and living in Newark it is great to eat out and this place is all what nutley is about. A small cafe that is very homie. Great selection of food and coffee. Everything was great. Cooked well and the prices where good. Staff was very friendly and made sure we where taken care of. This is my new go-to stop when looking to eat out locally. A true gem in nutley nj.
I love coming here for brunch! They have an extensive menu, and you really can't go wrong with any choice. The eggs benedict is my go to, but we recently tried the cinnamon French toast and it was absolutely delicious! If you're a fan of cinnamon toast this is a must-try. Their specialty coffee flavors are also fantastic. Service is friendly, though it can slow down a bit during the brunch rush hour. This spot is great for both groups and couples, with plenty of indoor seating and a convenient parking lot in the back.
Was only here once. Tried the spring chicken wrap with sweet potato fries. It was very good. Will go back and try different items.
Walked in this morning ready to feel guilty about eating until I had to unbutton my jeans and then go home and take an obligatory nap. I've been here a few times over the last few years but hadn't been in a while. I had the traditional eggs Benny, my wife had the hungry human and the kids had the chocolate chip pancakes and the Mac and cheese bites. The hungry human is an insane amount of food and I dreamt of that French toast during my nap. The eggs Benny were very good as well, the potatoes needed salt. Kids stuff, well i mean choco chip pancakes and Mac and cheese bite, you can't go wrong. My only complaint really is I'm not ready to sit table and table next to another family. Idk too soon. Luckily the family next to us left after only 20ish minutes. Also most people if not all didn't have masks not even the staff. A lil uncomfortable with that omicron waiting to keep my kids home from school and me having to stay home with them attending virtually. HORROR!!! Overall we had a good breakfast here with the fam and I'll be back. Cheers!
This cafe is very cute inside. The food here was alright, not great but totally overpriced. It was diner quality but not diner prices. The pulled pork sandwich was the biggest letdown because it was so small.
I had their Chi tea latte and it was really good. I definitely recommend there Chi Rea latte!

Very nice cafe, staff very friendly . Food tasted really good. S'mores latte and Dubai chocolate latte tasted great and would recommend. Breakfast portion was very generous I was satisfied and full by the time I was finished. read more
Grabbed brunch at the chestnut street cafe & eatery with a couple of friends, and had an awesome experience. I got the Dubai latte which was absolutely delicious, and then the hungry human as my entree which was also super tasty. The sausage, eggs and toast were each super flavorful and cooked to perfection and added the French toast gave me the perfect balance of savory and sweet. Chestnut street cafe is definitely worth stopping by for your next breakfast! read more

Came for the first time to enjoy brunch. Loved that they had a little back patio area outside with umbrellas covering the tables. The staff was very friendly and we were greeted and seated immediately upon arrival. I ordered the portobello eggs benedict and loved it! I only wish more goat cheese came on it and that the home fries were crispy. My husband had the steak eggs benedict and also thought it was delicious. Overall would definitely return in the future. read more

Right sized portions for the price and tasty food. The staff was friendly and accommodated our party of 9 promptly upon arrival. The potato soup was piping hot and chicken black bean salad special was full of flavor. If you're looking for a coffee or tea, this is a great spot to come relax and enjoy their casual atmosphere. read more

What a lovely place to have breakfast, lunch o brunch. A charming greeting from Nya the hostess and big smiles from staff made this homestyle dining experience a memorable one. The dining room was very cozy and homey. Outdoor patio dining available. The menu had an extreme variety of options making really difficult to choose from all the tempting dishes. The hostess gave us her recommendations and we went with all of them, the sweet potato fries, LLP the asian tuna salad, the pesto panini and an omelette which are all A+! Thanks Mya. Several options for drinks from flavored coffees, teas, juices to a DONUT MILKSHAKE!! Didn't get the shake but will definitely save room for dessert next visit. Free wifi available. This place is adorable inside!! I love the ambience, as soon as you walk inside you feel at home. The servers were so nice as soon as we got in the door. We chose a seat in the second room, it looked just a little cozier. The menu is huge! For a place that's only breakfast and lunch they have plenty of options. My friend and I both had our hearts set on eggs Benedict. She got the traditional and I got Bruschetta Benedict. Both delicious. The pesto was great with mine. We also got a fruit bowl and it was great, melon, bananas, strawberries. It was nice to balance out the eggs with the sweetness of the fruit. The portion was huge too, I ended up taking half home. This is the kind of place where you can just cozy up in the corner and do some work or relax and just enjoy breakfast. They have free WiFi too. Parking is really easy, there's tons of spots on the street. I'll definitely be back. I can't wait to try the croissant French toast! read more

Great Service, food, and love the atmosphere. I walk in straight from the back, and it makes me feel like I'm walking right in from my backyard to have brunch. Their wraps and sandwiches are great, and their veggies are always fresh. Def recommend. read more

Came here yesterday with a friend. Had never been, despite living in Nutley about 4 years. As someone born and raised in Cali, I approve. Very good, and so good, I had to take a pic to make my husband jealous after my first bite Will def be a return customer. Very nice interior, and good customer service. I've been wanting to try this place out for awhile, and I'm so glad that I did. They have a nice area for outdoor seating. It was a perfect day to sit outside. With check in, you get a free coffee. I asked for pumpkin coffee, and they had run out =( I tried their toasted almond coffee, which was good. I ended up getting their italian chicken panini. They give you a really generous portion which i loved. Also, I got it with hot fries which i highly recommend if you love hot sauce and blue cheese. Unfortunately, my fries were a little cold when they served the food, but they were still tasty. Our waitress was very friendly, helpful, and quick. read more
Came here for a birthday celebration and the people here are super nice! They have a small little parking area but if there are no more spots there, you can park on the street. I got the cafe vanilla-chestnut blend fresh brewed coffee mixed with vanilla syrup and frothy steamed milk. It was sort of a watery consistency to me but it was not bad! I'd want to try something else there. I then got the eggs Benedict and it was delicious! The home fries were definitely well seasoned and well cooked, which is quite hard to find! 3.5 to be exact. Round up for the nice ambiance here. Chestnut Street Cafe is a great place to go for breakfast/brunch and has some delicious food that you can have, while sitting outside in the back patio during a nice day. Just to note though, if you do decide to sit outside, the establishment does own a few cats that will stroll around. They are friendly cats, but if cats are not your thing, then definitely stay inside. I am allergic to cats, but the open space outside makes it bearable for me and the cats did not bother me too much unless my friend or I tried to play with them. On nice mornings I definitely like coming here just to eat outside and relax, and the plus of living near here is a great benefit. The best items I have had here were the French Toast, specifically their Signature Croissant and Banana Bread French Toast. I also was able to try their Eggs Benedict, which is okay and nothing special in my opinion. Their Signature Portobello Eggs Benedict was good, but I also tried the Steak and Eggs Benedict they served here before and that was average, as the steak tasted a little dry. With how local this place is for me, I would not mind coming back here again! read more

Chestnut is one of my go to spots in the area for brunch/lunch. With good food and a very comfortable atmosphere, it's the perfect type of place for a lazy Saturday/Sunday afternoon with some friends and family (especially the outdoor patio for nice weather days). With a very friendly staff, they offer a good selection of coffees and teas to drink from, great breakfast and lunch menu options (try the homemade meatloaf sandwich and/or the hot chestnut fries), and a nice selection of pastries and desserts up front, it's definitely worth a visit if in the area. The only warning I will give about Chestnut, is how long it takes to get your food sometimes. So if you are in a rush, this is not the place for you. read more
I have mixed reviews about this place. I really enjoyed my breakfast I had a month ago. I believe it was the banana walnut french toast and an order of eggs and potato. I got the free coffee with my check in. A couple of weeks later I came with my gf for dinner. My gf's diablo shrimp was really good. I requested some bread to go along with her dish. It's a saucy and savory that I enjoyed eating with bread. I didn't enjoy my pork chop giambotta. It was cooked with pickled hot peppers. Now I know giambottas comes with those type of peppers. I tore up the pork chop but the peppers left a bad taste with me. I'd imagine this place will be in triple D's one day. I'd still come back but will read the menu more carefully. read more
