This was my first time at Toros and I'm glad I stopped in! The restaurant has a warm, homey and inviting vibe; I particularly liked the lighting and wall art, it made the space feel very authentic. Toros only serves wine, so plan accordingly (they do have a non-alcoholic lemonade on the menu, which my dinner date loved). Our server was friendly and took time to describe each item on the menu. For my meal, I tried the Bamia, which is a traditional, thick Turkish stew with okra and lamb, served with basmati rice. The stew itself had a sour taste but our server did give me the heads up before ordering. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Toros and I'm looking forward to coming back!

I stopped in with a few women I know. When I arrived I parked in the private lot. I walked in and was greeted and sat. The restaurant was spacious and I liked the decor. We were served by a nice young lady. I ordered the pinot nior which I enjoyed. The girls ordered the Babaganaush and Hummus for appetizers and they liked it. For entrees the chicken and the lamb and okra. I liked the lamb and okra! All in all a good experience!

I enjoyed dinner at Toros on a weekday evening. The menu has a wide range of options, and the service was great. For an appetizer, I enjoyed hummus. It tasted fantastic and was well complemented by the warm bread served at the table. Although a selection of wines by the bottle and glass was available, I opted for the mint lemonade, which was super refreshing. For my entree, I had the grilled chicken kebabs, which were served with a tomatoey bulgur and white rice. The chicken was very tender, and the portions were generous. All in all, I enjoyed a tasty meal. Also, Toros has a private parking lot, which I am sure fills up quickly on the weekends.

Loooove this place so much! Their meat is always seasoned and cooked to perfection, and their complimentary bread is amazing. One of my favorite middle eastern restaurants around the area.

2026 Jan 1: small salad , lentil soup , two chicken kebab and hunker begendi lamb. Both the lentil soup and salad reminds us of the food we had in Türkiye. Food is really delicious!

From the moment I stepped inside, I was struck by the atmosphere -- warm, immersive, and unmistakably inviting. The service was impressively prompt without ever feeling rushed. One of the unexpected highlights? The bread and butter, deceptively simple, yet executed with such care that it nearly stole the show. The chicken salad, dressed generously in oil and vinegar, was flavorful and well-balanced, allowing each ingredient to speak for itself. Prices were astonishingly reasonable given the quality of presentation and portion size. And the Turkish tea? Undeniably the best I've had outside of Istanbul -- bold, fragrant, and perfectly steeped. However, for a restaurant that delivers such a thoughtful dining experience, the attention to cleanliness was disappointingly uneven. The restroom, in particular, fell short of acceptable standards. In my view, a restaurant's bathroom often mirrors its kitchen -- and this lack of upkeep raises concerns. And while the kitchen's execution is assured: plates arrive thoughtfully composed, flavors well-balanced, the ingredients themselves could use a touch more vibrancy. Nothing egregious, but if the kitchen wants to lean into the ethos of freshness it gestures toward, a shift in sourcing could take these dishes from very good to top tier. No wonder the place is packed for lunch on a Monday!

So good! Great Turkish food, can't go wrong coming here. They serve wine, with Turkish food it was so good. Big basket of fresh brad, begs one to get dip appetizers. We got 6 dishes, large is enough for dinner. Lebni is best, all the eggplant dips were great. Also got Shepard salad, combo plate and bronzino. Good god, bronzino is amazing. Get the whole fish. Great service, nice Turkish wines. They had a full bar, not BYOB. Nice decor, with parking lot.

Although Paterson and Clifton area are filled with Turkish restaurants and Middle Eastern Restaurants, this Toros location stands out by having excellent food and a great ambiance. The interior is unique and makes you feel like you're in a fancy restaurant. My favorite items are their Sheppard salad with feta, iskandar (fresh sliced donar kebab with tomato sauce over fried pieces of Turkish bread and a whole lot of yogurt), and manti (Turkish ravioli mixed with yogurt). The portions are generous and prices are reasonable. Highly recommend.

Came here because of the high reviews and we were not disappointed! You'd think that this small place with barely any parking (though you could park next door in the diner parking lot) may not seem like much but once you step in, the decor and atmosphere is perfect for bringing family and friends. I usually don't care for interior much but wow, it was almost like I was transported to a different country. The customer service is amazing as we were seated quickly, we had our orders taken quickly, and all of the staff were so attentive that our bread and water was refilled constantly throughout the night! As for the food, the complimentary bread was genuinely soft and chewy. It was the perfect starter! As for the main course, I ordered the lamb and doner combination platter and my girlfriend ordered the grilled shrimp kebab. Normally, I'm reluctant to order lamb but I took a chance and WOW, it wasn't gamey but rather, tender and juicy. The doner was plentiful and amazingly enough, I was able to taste the spices in each bite that had me wanting more! If they sold this by the pound, I'd probably buy a good 5 pounds just to eat over the next few days and MAYBE share it with my girlfriend. As for the rice, it's no ordinary rice, it's not plain white rice that one would expect, the rice is flavorful, savory, and it just complements the meat so well. As for the grilled shrimp kebab, one thing I noticed was that the shrimps are HUGE. They're not some skimpy, rubbery, baby shrimps. These were so big it took at least two bites! They're juicy, firm, moist, yet soft. I was so happy that my girlfriend couldn't finish all of them and I could help her hehe. All in all, if I'm ever in the area, I'd come back just for the wonderful experience that we had!

Visited Antioch during the holidays so it wasn't that busy. I'm sure on a Friday and Saturday it'd be more busy. The restaurant itself doesn't have much seating, only a few tables, I would say about 50 people occupancy so if you're going, make sure you make reservations. The place was nicely decorated and well kept and clean. The service was great, but this is based on 2 tables being served. I'm sure the service is just as exceptional on busy days. I love that they start out with table bread, I wished they asked us if the table wanted more. We ordered a few dishes for the table, everything was delicious. The dishes we ordered is the usual dishes that we'd order from any Mediterranean restaurant. The fries calf liver is definitely something to try. Massive amounts of flavor. The chicken kebab is very tender and the steak had a nice char flavor. Can't wait to go back again and introduce this little place to more people.

We had to ask twice for our rice we ordered for entrees to be brought out because our server forgot. Fine, that happens. But what really threw me off was when I questioned if the mold in my cheese was normal, the server assured me it was naturally occurring for the flavor. I felt gaslit because I have never had Parmesan with such questionable green growth on it for consumption in any restaurant in my entire life. The server said if it bothered me, he'd bring out fresh shavings with no mold. I have left pictures so you can be the judge of this. Aside from my minor issue with the cheese, the ambiance of the restaurant was nice and there's plenty of choices for meat and non-meat eaters alike

Turkish cuisine is a unique combination of flavors, spices, and herbs developed over thousands of years, influenced by the Central Asian nomads and Arabic, Persian, Italian, French, and Eastern European cultures. While New York has some great Turkish food if one knows where to look, most of it leaves some room for improvement. Could Jersey be better? The town of Carlstadt has mainly residential private homes, with a spattering of condos and garden apartments. The main shopping area is all of about three blocks long on both sides of the street. Translated from the Turkish language, meaning sultan, we have come to this family-owned/family-run establishment located on Hackensack Street since 2006 for Saturday dinner. The reservation was easily made by Google Assistant. Upon entering this hidden gem called Hünkar Restaurant as first-timers, my partner, our friends, and I were greeted by the staff inside a cozy room, where ethnic pictures and decorations as well as the music all add to the vibe. A great view of the NYC skyline is visible from their enclosed back patio. Their menu features Mediterranean and Turkish cuisine with a modern twist and serves alcohol. As an appetizer, we decided on the Kibbeh (Icli Kofte), Calamari (Kalamar), and Cigarette Borek (Sigara Boregi). For our main meal, we opted for Chicken Saute (Taouk Sote), Shrimp Kebab, Lamb Shish Kebab (Kuzu Sis Kebab), and Chicken Shish Kebab (Tavuk Kebab). All Kebab meal accompanied by rice, char-grilled tomatoes, peppers, and a small salad. Warm, fluffy pida bread with a crisp crust started our meal. Every dish bursts with authentic flavor and is beautifully presented, from the fact that Turkish families from all over the area eat here. The staff is warm, welcoming, and very professional; our server was Akincan "John," the owners' son. The price was comparable to the area with the right portion. We can recommend this place.
