Absolutely beautiful inside, you don't realize how big it is until you walk in and make a right turn. The high ceilings and decor on the walls is stunning. They have all sorts of breads, cookies, pastries and drinks. Some of their full cakes are so beautifully crafted. One of the cleanest establishments I have been to. It was being cleaned nonstop, there isn't a speck of dust in there. Got the meat pide, lahmacun, kare baklava and tulumba, Turkish tea and Turkish coffee. Everything was perfect. Dropping a star because there isn't a system to order food. It becomes confusing because you can't tell if people are browsing the glass case or ordering, which isn't even the issue. The issue is that it's hard to get attention for someone to take your order and when we did all 3 times, the person either disappeared, someone else rung us out and thereby didn't know what we ordered or our food came to our table while we were still standing in line to pay. read more

Taskin is a massive bakery, and with it being open 24 hours, there is something for everyone. There is ample seating, selection and lots of Middle Eastern delights. Additionally, there are other favorites such as tres leches available. Most of the items are sold by the pound, but some are sold by the piece. tl;dr if they walk away, you might have caught them in an unnecessary uncharge My wife was treated very poorly by a male staff member. He did not listen to what she requested for the pastries. He put items in that she did not want. When she asked to see what he put in the box, he hesitated before showing her. Unsurprisingly, he had put items in that she did not want. When she asked to have them replaced with what she asked for, he gave her a hard time. Then he charged much more than we ever pay here. I'm not sure why he seemingly charged a penalty price for his own mistakes. A very nice woman who worked there ended up intervening and the man walked away and indicated that he no longer would serve my wife. When she rung up the pastries, it was MUCH less money. Please look at my previous reviews, it is atypical for me to encounter such poor customer service. I would give 1 star, but the woman was very nice. Perhaps more women working here would make the environment more respectful towards women customers. However my wife noted that she saw male employees barking orders to the women. I was kept waiting for an unreasonable amount of time, and when I finally got assistance, the representative was rude, unhelpful, and gave me impolite looks. Taskin Bakery is one of those places you would never find if you weren't looking for it. Unlike most of the middle eastern restaurants, markets and shops in the area which seem to be located on or off of either Main Street or Crooks Ave., Taskin Bakery is located in an industrial stretch of Hazel Street. The entrance is hidden atop a small, cramped parking lot that you could easily misinterpret as belonging to the warehouse next door. If you're lucky enough to be in the know and make it inside the bakery you will find yourself walking into a different world. Instead of being industrial, the atmosphere is closer to New York City chic. With exposed brick walls, a fireplace, hardwood tables and wrought iron fixtures and chairs, Taskin Bakery is really unlike anything in the area. As you enter you first encounter the portion of the bakery dedicated to fresh bread. There is even a window into the back of the bakery where the magic happens. Past this you make your way to a very long case of freshly baked sweet and savory items, and you'll want to buy everything. My personal favorite is their spinach and cheese filo spiral. I apologize for not knowing the correct name, but you'll know it when you see it. Their coffee is excellent, and their café seating area is comfortable, so don't be too quick to pay and rush out the door. I recommend you buy what you want to take home, and then relax with a sweet treat and a hot cup of coffee before returning to the chaotic and unforgiving world that lies outside. In my neighborhood, there are some great bakeries that offer solid competition, but the breads here are top notch, and that's saying a lot. The fact that it's always busy is also a great indicator of the quality. The baklava is my absolute favorite. Then the sesame breads. Least favorite are the denser baked goods, like the borek, but everything is worthy of a try. The parking lot in front is small and usually crowded. We didn't get the man who was working there's name, but he was beyond diligent, and even gave us beyond generous samples. A renovation in 2018 allows patrons to sit at tables or a comfy sofia by a fireplace while enjoying their Turkish treats. They make many types of breads in brick ovens. One drawback is that the breads are made with no preservatives so they are best eaten on the same day of baking. Other traditional pasteries offered are Simit (a circular bread encrusted with sesame seeds, poppy or flax), Pagaca (a savory breakfast pastry) and Tuzlu Kurablye (a savory salty biscuit). The star of the show for me was the walnut and pistacio Baklava which was outstanding. I ended up also buying an assorted group of Turkish cookies which are not nearly as sweet as American cookies but have a nut flavor or chocolate flavor. Went here on a friends recommendation and absolutely loved everything about this place. First things first.. it is open 24 hrs everyday ...Woah!! The people are very very warm and friendly .The lady who works there gave a bag of cookies for my toddler. So many things and everything looks so good..we got overwhelmed on what to take. My friends and I happened upon this amazing and inviting 24-hour Turkish bakery last month, after an event from across the street. Upon entering, I instantly felt welcomed by the warm ambiance and delicious scent of bread & pastries permeating the whole place. The space is spacious and sprawling with plenty of tables and seats, as well as a lovely, comfortable fireplace, couch, bookshelves, cool knick-knacks, and a gorgeous bouquet of red & white flowers. There are beautiful displays of bread, baklava, cookies, savory baked goods, bagels, pasta, and breadsticks galore! I also liked the artwork all over the walls. I decided to purchase some bread, which is cholesterol and sugar-free! They were so soft and fresh looking. One large piece of bread was $2 and a pack of 5 was only $4. I also brought a package of whole wheat breadsticks with sesame seeds all over. They were sooo wonderfully yummy, satisfyingly crispy and full of great taste. Then, I grabbed a piece of pistachio baklava that was circular, red in color, with a dollop of nutella on top. I saved this treat for later and it was absolutely delectable! The moist and syrup-soaked phyllo dough, combined with the crunchy richness of the pistachios paired perfectly together. The creamy, sweet, heavenly chocolate-y nutella melted in my mouth, mingling well with all the ingredients, adding an extra layer of yumminess. The other food item I had was bread stuffed with ground beef and onion. The bread was absolutely wonderful and had just the right amount of chewiness and was both soft and tender. There was plenty of filling and the beef was nicely juicy and well seasoned. I was able to sample the shortbread apple and nut cookie, which was delightfully buttery and had a lovely pure apple flavor. I also ordered a cup of Turkish tea, but it turned out to just be plain black tea. I had expected more of an authentic and unique flavor. I wish I had asked for the Turkish coffee after seeing how that was served in a more traditional and elaborate way. Took my family to Taskin Bakery for our first time earlier today. It's a modern looking place with good parking. The inside is big and updated. In non coronavirus times, there would be a nice seating area. They have a large glass case of desserts, a large case of savory delicacies, and a wall of bread choices. They also have Turkish coffee and tea. We selected a ground beef stuffed pastry, a potato stuffed pastry, a tomato croissant, and a cheese pizza stuffed pastry to have right away for lunch. I added a Turkish tea and my daughters selected water (both regular bottled and a cool Turkish mineral water). Each of the savory pastries was better than the last and each was reasonably priced around $2-$2.50. The Turkish tea was outstanding, a bold and smooth cup. We also selected some pastries to supplement the birthday cake at a party we were headed to later. The birthday cake was good but the pastries from Taskin were amazing! The pistachio stuffed pastry cylinders were perfect in texture with a pleasant pistachio flavor. The baklava in cream was the show stopper. I've had a lot of baklava in my life but this took baklava to the next level.
