I am not an expert of Turkish food, but I am very familiar with cheese pide (think Turkish pizza). My family are allium-free vegetarians and the cheese pide fits the bill. We moved and it was finally time to try to find our new go-to place for our pide fix and out of the 10+ restaurants in the area that also serve pide... I chose this one. This place is conveniently located on a very central and busy street. It's mostly street parking (good luck) though they do have 2 dedicated spaces in front if you're lucky. It's a cozy place with maybe 4 tables when you walk in - all were full when we got there around 1 pm on a Monday that happened to be a federal holiday - and we were told that there were more seats around the corner. They built an addition - you will be briefly exposed to the outdoors for a few steps - and it's so much more roomier and brighter with more (and larger) tables. It's climate controlled as well. There was only one man manning the front and everyone else is in the kitchen so expect some wait if it's busy and especially if you're in the separate room, but it honestly wasn't that bad for us. We were all given menus (the two adults AND my two young kids) and given sufficient time to peruse. The menu is fairly simple: they specialize in pide and lahmacun. There's a small salad section and beverages but no dessert. Their pide is different from what I'm used to; they have a super long version that is at least 2 feet long (don't quote that; I didn't bring my tape measure) and a round one that is likely around 12 inches in diameter. I focused on the cheese pide section and the drinks and ordered: Kaşarli Pide (mozzarella pide) - this was for my daughter. It is LONG. I'd venture to say it could even be 2-1/2 feet long as the ends were longer than the board it was on. The dough for this is stretched thin so it comes out almost like boat shaped flatbread with an equally thin, but adequate layer of cheese. It's crisp with a chew and is positively delightful. It says mozzarella, but the cheese used in pide always seems to be more and wonderfully three dimensional. Yuvarlak Kaşarli Yumurtali Pide (2 egg and cheese round pide) - I actually wanted the cheese with tomato long pide but I was also intrigued by a circular one so he added in some sliced tomatoes in this as well! We weren't sure how to eat it as the eggs were still mostly raw but we ended up breaking it up and spreading it everywhere and just cutting it like a pizza. It was AMAZING. The dough on this is thicker than the long pide but not very thick either. Not as crispy but does have crispy edges. The combination I got from this was perfection. I can't pinpoint it but it's definitely juicier - whether that be grease, tomato juices, the egg, or all the above - and that made it nice. Very nice. Ayran - we always order ayran when we get pide. This place doesn't make their own, sadly, but it was nice. It's essentially a salty yogurt drink and still hit the spot. Şalgam (fermented turnip juice) - this is completely new to us. I got this because I noticed that almost every Turkish restaurant in the area also offered this as a beverage and adventurous me got curious. They don't make their own so it's bottled and they only have the spicy version (which is the default). This thing is STRONG. It's got an earthy taste to it like beets (but it's mostly made of purple carrots for color and turnips) but it packs a punch like pickle juice and V8. Salty, spicy, earthy, intense... deep flavors. And I LOVED it at first sip. I chugged the first third. It actually reset my stomach enough that I ate more pide, haha. BUT definitely an acquired taste. My husband thought it was okay and let me have most of it. This drink surprisingly contains wheat, so avoid if there's an allergy. Note: my youngest child has multiple food allergies including to wheat and eggs. They don't have a gluten free alternative, unfortunately. There's a sign saying no outside food allowed, but we brought him his pizza and he was perfectly content with that. We never managed to ask the man if it was okay since he was in and out fast, but he didn't question us when he caught a glimpse of the Pyrex. The pide both came with their own pizza cutter wheel for convenience. They also typically come with pickles on the side but we opted out because their pickles contain garlic. I'm supposed to be trying other pide places to give everyone a fair chance, but I've fallen in love with this place. Even my husband who mostly eats to survive... well, he said it was good (which is huge compared to his usual "it's okay"s). They have good service, the pides are stupendous, it's clean (antibacterial wet wipes at every table), single restroom is tidy, and they introduced me to şalgam. I'm thrilled Pide 28 was my first foray into Turkish food in NJ and am looking forward to trying all the cheese pides on their menu in due time. read more

Solid take out for Turkish pizza, folks loved the one with tomato and the plain cheese versions of the pideler. They were quick and efficient with our order, and while some was a bit harder on the crust, generally enjoyed by many. I liked the pastrami but the ground meat and veggies in the Karisik version was not to my taste as much. read more

What a wonderful surprise this restaurant is! I tried Pide 28 for the first time today. You know it'll be a big hit when a restaurant specializes in a certain dish. The pide & lahmachun are freshly made, and you can tell by the wait time. We did not mind the wait as we were meeting up with friends and chatting. When the food came out, we were pleasantly surprised by the flavors and presentation. The Lahmachun has to be the best I ever had! Make sure to squeeze lemon on it and top it with the toppings provided! The Pide was larger and yummier than we thought, too! The spinach one was ah-mazing! And the Mozzarella and feta Pide was spectacular! I was left speechless after trying it, and couldn't stop eating! Also, the Pide and Lahmachun are not spicy, so they're kid-friendly. No-frills storefront at the edge of the cluster of Turkish/Syrian/Palestinian restaurants in South Paterson. But the pide here (Turkish pizza) is absolutely delicious! We were already stuffed from a few meals nearby, but we still managed to convince ourselves to share the vegetarian special pide, which had a delectable blend of white cheeses, potato and other vegetables as toppings. The pie itself is of impressive proportions. It takes a little while for the pizzas to be made fresh, so keep that in mind. The feta pide is a must have- the feta cheese is so delicious and they even stuff the crust. The vegetable pide lacked flavor but did offer some much needed reprieve from all the cheese. This is one of those small places that doesn't look like much from the outside, but does stand out. The pide, Turkish pizza with the edges of the dough are folded in to make a boat-shape, is wonderful. The most interesting thing is the way they serve it. It comes on a long wooden board (like 1 meter long). I tought I would never finish it. I did! It was so good and beyond better than what I expected. I also tried the butter and 2 eggs pide (Item # 22). This pide comes in a round shape. This traditional Turkish meal turned it into my new favorite breakfast. This shop is located on a stripe with many other stores. We could have easily missed the entrance if it wasn't for my friend to point out where it was. They were friendly, n the service was fast. Best yet, the food was amazing. The little pickled appetizer came up first but it was too spicy and sour for me since I don't really ear spicy. My friend and I both had pide. She had the one with spinach n cheese and I have the one with ground beef. I had never had a pide before so the whole cutting it on the broad with pizza cutter was so awesome. I loved the vegetarian pide. It tasted really fresh. The thin crust was so crunchy and nicely baked it was like a party in your mouth. The food weren't expensive at all. Small cozy place in Paterson, NJ. As soon as we entered, we were greeted and seated. It was the middle of the weekday around 1 pm. Our hostess/waitress was dressed casually in jeans and a T-shirt. We ordered the pide and lahmachun. I don't eat lahmachun, my wife does. The Pide was excellent. And of course we were served traditional Turkish tea. The food did not take long to come out and we enjoyed the Turkish music videos playing in the background TV. Our waitress, was okay. I felt like she could have been friendlier. But we had our 1 year old son sitting on a high chair at the table and he was dropping napkins, bits of food and utensils on the floor. I caught her staring at these items and making a face like, " I'm going to have to clean that up." I was actually thinking I was going to clean up what I could of what our son had dropped at the end of our meal. Her attitude rubbed me the wrong way and that's why I didn't give this place 5 stars. It bothered me so much that I left a smaller tip than I usual would for the cost of the meal and service. So while this place is affordable and has appetizing food, you might want to rethink coming here if you have children under 4. read more

This is the best place to eat pide in NJ. Unfortunately, most of their options has meat. However, to eat vegan, you can ask your Potato Pide, or Spinach Pide without butter or egg. Potato pide is my personal favourite, but also their Spinach pide is good. Also, their portions are huge! With your pide, don't forget to drink Turkish tea! Beautiful outdoor space, great service, very clean and spacious. The pickles are so delicious and a bit spicy . We had the lahmacun to start and it was crispy and really well seasoned, it reminded us of our trip to turkey. The entire atmosphere is reminescent of an afternoon in turkey. For starters, their pides are huge, probably the biggest that I've ever seen at least. The food tasted amazing! The patio seating was great and spread out from the other tables which I liked. So why the 3 stars, you ask? Well, for starters, nobody came up to us to ask what we wanted after we were seated, but would go to other tables on more than one occasion without visiting ours. For the menu, we weren't even provided one, not even a digital one from a QR code so my one friend had to get up and go get it. For the beverages, my girlfriend got up and had to go to the front to directly tell them what we wanted at our table to which I saw her carrying back the Ayran drinks! Oh, and get this, we had to go up and order our food as a third time we had to get up from the table because the servers were going to every other table EXCEPT ours, mind you there are only about 4 tables or so on the patio and maybe a few more inside. Service and food are the two main things I base my reviews on, and while this place exceeds expectations on food taste, it falls very short of customer service. However, I will go back because I am curious as to if it was a one-off incident, understaffing issue, etc. I do feel this place has potential, it's just the experience that we had that one time. read more
