Only thing that needs to get better is service. The people aren't very attentive and tables aren't wiped down. Also they have one restroom and the server sat in there for about 5 minutes, while customers waited. They charge gratuity of 12% on a party of four , that was a first for me . We happened to pass by Nouri's Restaurant on Main Street in Paterson, NJ, and decided to give it a try--and we're so glad we did. This small restaurant is incredibly clean, welcoming, and well cared for. The service could use a bit more support, but our server was wonderful and worked hard to take care of everyone. The food was outstanding. The half chicken with French fries was absolutely delicious, the babaganoush was extremely fresh, the meat dolma was the best we've had, and the falafel tasted truly fresh and flavorful. The warm bread, made by Nouri Store, was thoughtfully cut and nicely packaged. What impressed us most was how clean and inviting the restaurant felt. I've enjoyed shopping in the Nouri Market for a few years. Yesterday my wife and I decided to give Nouri Cafe a try. (it happened to have its regular menu during the day during Ramadan) The cafe is bright and clean. Our waiter was pleasant and professional, he answered my question regarding one of the vegetables on the complimentary pickle plate. (It was a turnip) We were there for lunch, I tried to order a moderate amount of food. No such luck, as the portions are impressive! We started with the foul with tahini. It was delicious, the tahini was a smooth and flavorful addition. I had a pie with really salty but tasty cheese. I chose the hashwa appetizer because rice with ground beef, almonds, and pistachio sounded good. They served it with yogurt, it smelled amazing when it hit the table. Huge portion and very enjoyable. My wife got the mixed shawarma and enjoyed the chicken a bit more than the beef. All that and a tasty cup of mint tea. Certainly worth a return! read more

What can I say other than the most wonderful things! As Iraqis and lovers of our Middle Eastern cuisine, I have to say this was some of the best we've ever had! We ordered a combo for our table and started with the hummus and tabbouli. The hummus was creamy, fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. The tabbouli was CLEAN (IYKYK), cut up perfectly and seasoned to perfection. My 4 year old almost ate the entire plate by herself. It was so good. Our combo platter was the real test because it's hard to get each type of meat seasoned well, have the right texture, and prepared properly. Again, everything was perfect! The rice was fluffy and served fresh. The chicken was tender and good, my favorites were the gus, beef tikka, and chicken tikka. My family ate everything off their plates and we had some to take home. It was a great dinner and worth the drive. My wife and I tried Nouri cafe this week and I'm so glad we did!! First my wife started out with an Arabic coffee which she had never tried before. She said is was delicious! Then we had some hummus and pita. The hummus was so creamy and the pita was warm and soft. So good. We followed up the hummus with a shish wrap with filet and another with beef shwarma. The wraps were so good, that I've been craving more since we finished them!! The restaurant staff is so kind, it is the kind of restaurant I could eat a few times a week. So just left. Not sure what the good reviews were for. The chicken schwarma was so dry and not authentic. Neither of us liked it and we came in excited. The hash appetizer with ground beef was also soo dry. Argh! Disappointing when so many good restaurants are in Paterson. The lemon mint drink was pretty darn good though. The hummus was good. The salad was depending on the produce which was all tasteless maybe not their fault but need better food purveyors. But here is the kicker. The waitress was non existent. We were the only ones there. Never got a check. Went up to pay and it was $60 for two. She said the tip was included. I asked her how much and she said the number. And I said what percent. She said it automatically applies 18%. I said. No. Charge me for the meal and I will decide the tip. So turned off. Have never seen this in America. So turned off that I gave no tip to teach her a lesson. So very rude. Thing was. I always tip 20% so she would've made out better. Shame on this place. We were shopping at the Nouri supermarket and we stumbled upon Nouri cafe which a restaurant serving fine Lebanese cuisine. The restaurant has a large parking lot in the back that is very convenient especially that parking spots are limited on the Main Street. We started with hummus, tabboulé that were both freshly made and tasty. Hummus came with freshly baked bread. Tabboulé had the right balance of lemon and olive oil. Parsley and tomatoes were freshly cut. For the main entrée, we took Nouri mix grill, kafta, and kibbé nayyé. Nouri mix grill comes with 3 skewers of kafta, shish taouk, and beef cubes that were very tender. Kafta platter come with two skewers kafta. All platters come with toum (garlic sauce) and with a choice of French fries or rice. You can any salad for $4. Mouhallabiah (rice pudding) and Arabic coffee was offered at end free of charge. "Perfect" "just like mom's" were thrown around. Whenever I visit there are always a few big trays of something fresh out of the oven - spinach pies, cookies and other sweets. The best fattoush, enough to serve 2-4, and only $11. Worth every single bite!! Drove from lower Westchester NY in search of home cooked, quality Lebanese - George delivered above and beyond anything we had been anticipating. Starting with incredibly fresh and flavorful Kibbe Naye we knew dinner was on the right track. Fatoush salad was fresh, crunchy and light. A great balance of flavor in comparison to the salty, crunchy, cheesy goodness of the soujouk toushka. Of course we had to try fried kibbe which arrived steaming with a perfectly crunchy exterior and soft, flavorful filling. As if that wasn't enough, the incredibly friendly owner George let us try a salad his Mother was working on as a menu addition. It was just as flavorful as everything else we had tried. Of course, at this point we realized we had been too ambitious when ordering. Our plate of Nouri's Mixed grill arrived and we desperately tried to find our appetites for just a few more bites. The Shish Kebob was so tender, clearly having been marinated before grilled to perfection. Each bite just kept getting better- we had to pack up the leftovers in a desperate attempt to postpone complete gluttony. But it wasn't quite over; in honor of my husband's birthday, George shared a plate of mouhalabieh on the house. First things first, I have never had such a friendly experience placing an order over the phone. This alone made my take out experience 10x better. After heading into the store to pick up my order, I found out the manager was the one who took my order over the phone. He was just as professional and friendly in the store as he was on the phone.
