I've always heard about Yaffa and since I was close by, I had to try it out! There is parking on the side of the cafe which is convenient. Spots can fill up quickly. I was there at 9pm and the place was packed! It was nice to see how this cafe gives the community a space to hang out. The kunafa is what brought me through the door- this cheesy sweet dessert looks and tastes amazing! My friend and I shared the classic one and it was enough for the both of us. Another pair of friends had the Dubai chocolate kunafa and that was sweet and very chocolately! The other desserts looked delicious. I've been wanting to try this place for months and finally got the chance to visit and i'm so glad I did! I don't drink coffee, but thought I would take the chance to try their pistachio latte with oat milk and it was actually delicious, A little sweeter than I would have liked.So next time I will ask to see if I could get it less sweet. I also tried the classic kunafa which was my first experience with this dessert- and wow! The personal was a perfect size for 1 person. Great little dessert after lunch in my opinion. The Personal Crunchy Cheese Kunafa was somehow not even hot (we ate it there probably within 5 minutes of receiving it) so there was barely a cheese pull, there wasn't enough sweet syrup on top, and it just seemed rushed. I really like the concept of a personal kunafa (which can easily be shared among 2-3 people) but I think the staff needs to prioritize quality over speed. Decided to try this place since it was recommended by a friend. I will start with they have a parking lot which is a huge pro in the area the place is located. Upon walking in you see a cute cafe with a lot of seating space. They have a pastry display which looked good. I will say customer service is big for me so I had to take one star off for that. The one thing I didn't like is that I walked up the counter and no one even greeted me. One person came by the register and I started speaking thinking they were going to take my order and the person proceeded to turn around and tell someone else to do it. I didn't mind that but a hello would have been nice. I ordered an iced yaffa latte with oatmilk and when I say I found my new fave drink I'm not kidding. It is absolutely delicious. As I imagine many others in the States may feel these days, it's hard to know exactly what to do in the face of the current genocide across Palestine. With an administration unresponsive to admonishment and 70 years of Jewish intellectual thought disturbingly quickly thrown to the wayside (which I say as a member of the tribe), what can one do for the legacy of Yaffa and Al-Quds? Lacking better options, I find myself frequently visiting the Palestinian cafés of Paterson, where the air remains palpably heavy. Yaffa is the best of the lot - I used to say that the best kunefe I ever had was in the back lanes of the Mısır çarşısı, but this may be the new winner. As I understand it, Nablus style kunefe lacks the density of kadayıf that generates the Turkish style's crispiness, resulting in a buttery soft texture that melts in your mouth. The Palestinian black tea is exceptional and heavy on the mint. It goes very well to balance the sweetness of the kunefe. read more

Loved loved this place! The atmosphere, the details in the design, the furniture which is by far the best furniture I've ever seen at any restaurant let alone a cafe. High quality heavy wood chairs and beautiful couches for some extra comfort. The map of Palestine was absolutely beautiful and the painting on the wall was still being painted while we were there actually and the artistic expression was incredible! Now on to the food and let me just say it was the best kunafa I have had! I loved how they serve the portions in individual wooden dishes that also help keep it warm longer. Stopped by this café on the way to my destination, and I have to say, the experience was unsettling. Pulling into the dirt parking lot, I immediately felt out of place. Inside, the café had a strong Middle Eastern vibe, which might have been interesting under different circumstances, but the staff's cold and unfriendly attitude toward me was noticeable. They were warm and friendly to other brown-skinned customers, which made my discomfort even more apparent. We ordered coffee and pastries to go. We didn't wait for table and the place was nice and clean, their coffee was also delicious, however I didn't like their ice cream choices. This cafe is absolutely beautiful wow, it's such a beautiful representation of Palestinian culture and heritage. I also had the best latte! It didn't need anything additional and even had pistachios sprinkled on top, for that alone they deserve full stars. I want to align my feedback with the lady's below who said she felt unwelcome. As someone who isn't Arab or Muslim I definitely felt unwelcome. I felt the stares but I also understand based on what is happening now that having a space for your community is important, so to see outsiders coming in to what probably feels like home doesn't feel secure. Heck, I feel the same when I see others come into places that I believe should be more focused on my community, but it doesn't feel good. We ordered kenafeh 5eshneh and were told it could be prepared for us. After waiting about seven minutes, they asked us if we still want it and said we had to pay before they would even start making it--something they could have told us from the beginning instead of wasting our time. When we finally received the item, it didn't look like what we ordered. When we questioned it, the staff was rude and dismissive. On top of that, I saw coffee cup lids dropped on the floor where staff walk with dirty shoes, then put back on the shelf for customers to use. That alone says a lot. They also made us pay separate for the container cause it was to go so if we don't pay, how are we supposed to take it ?? in our hands or plastic bag?? So ridiculous After reading Google reviews, I also noticed the owner responds aggressively to bad reviews, telling customers not to come back. You don't need to tell me twice. Worst place ever. As an educator, I've felt a strong responsibility to advocate for innocent lives -- especially children -- caught in heartbreaking circumstances. I saw it as a matter of human decency and justice. But yesterday, I had an experience that truly shook me. I visited a well-known café -- Yafa Coffee and Kunafa -- excited to try something new. I had just finished a run, so I was in my gym clothes and a bit sweaty, just minding my business, talking to a friend on the phone while waiting in line. Behind me was a group of young girls being loud, and at first, I paid them no mind. But then they started bumping into me -- repeatedly. I thought maybe it was an accident, but then I overheard comments like, "I'll pay $100 for that booty," followed by laughter and more rude remarks. It felt humiliating. A man then tried to cut the line, and when I addressed it, he questioned if I was local, as if that made a difference. I stayed polite and tried not to make a scene. But the girls kept making comments -- loud, mocking ones -- about my face (I had just had a facial, so I was a little flushed), about my appearance, and in a way that felt targeted and degrading. Some of the people in their group seemed to try to calm them down, but no one truly stepped in. I stayed quiet, partly because I didn't want to escalate things, but also because I felt like I was in their territory. I was the only Spanish person there, and suddenly I felt out of place -- like I didn't belong. What made things worse were the comments I overheard about being trained for war, about being "killers" from a young age. I don't know if it was said to intimidate, or if it was just bravado -- but it deeply unsettled me. When I finally got to the counter, the cashier ignored me at first to help someone else who seemed to be part of the same community. When she did acknowledge me, she acted confused about my order, even though I had done my research and knew what I wanted. She seemed dismissive, and by that point, I just asked for something else because I felt too uncomfortable to clarify. The whole experience left me feeling disrespected, bullied, and unwelcome. And the truth is, it's shaken me to the core. I know that one experience -- or even one group of people -- doesn't represent an entire community or cause. But it's hard to hold onto the same empathy and solidarity when you've been treated with such disregard. I'm still processing what happened. I still care about justice. I still care about children. But it hurts to feel like the same compassion I offered -- so freely -- wasn't extended to me when I was the one standing alone. I share this not to generalize or spread hate, but to be honest about how deeply this experience affected me. And I hope, if nothing else, it reminds us all that kindness, respect, and humanity must be present in every cause -- otherwise, we risk losing the very meaning behind what we're fighting for. read more
