This is honestly such a cute space! Definitely a great cafe vibe with books everywhere. Perfect for a quiet study session.

Beautiful, peaceful, good food and the selection is increasing, but the price has also increased multiple times in a 4 year span. For those price hiked, I'd expect people to move fast. Especially rush hour and lun h breaks. When I worked nearby, I woukd wait 20 mins for food that could have take 5 mins. As a chef, I appreciate the detail they put in the food, presentation, garnish but the speed has to be worked on. I always say, keep moving and don't stop moving. These are ppl that have somewhere to go at 8 am. Overall, I love the books , art work, Turkish tea and coffee and the seating. I worked here all last weekend 2 weeks ago when my wifi was out and no one bothered me. The play area is cute if you have small kids up to age 7 or so. They have their own book area as well. Came here to work while my car was at the shop in the area. It's a really big place with lots of seating and outlets. Free WiFi was quick (I was streaming music and accessing large files without any issues). Service is friendly, and prices are really reasonable. My Turkish coffee was only 2.5... it wasnt as strong as I would've liked, but fairly good apart from that. Also got a beef panini for lunch. This was fairly decent, although I was expecting some Turkish flavors... it seemed like a regular panini. I would return if I was in the area. read more

My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to study after running some errands nearby. After turning to Yelp, we thought Ant Bookstore would be a good option. Sadly, we were let down. It was a Sunday afternoon and they offer a breakfast buffet in the morning according to a sign we saw, but it was about 2 PM and we could still see remnants of the buffet sitting out. We walked up to the counter and took a glance at their refrigerated display - ingredients were messily stored and the desserts looked very underwhelming. The electronic menu kept switching from the menu to pictures of food, so we kept struggling to read the menu to decide what we wanted to eat. We placed an order for two panini's and a coffee, then took a seat. The tables were very messy with leftover food/cups laying around. Kids were running wild, screaming, which didn't make for a great studying environment. One good thing is there are a decent amount of outlets near the bar height tables along the windows. We originally were standing waiting for the paninis, but the lady behind the counter told us to take a seat because "they weren't ready yet." When they were ready, the lady yelled "your paninis are ready" so that we could pick up our food. Her tone was very off-putting, I would have much rather she walk a few feet to bring the paninis where we were sitting as most cafes do. The cheese and tomato panini I ordered was so-so, nothing too impressive. I did enjoy the butter placed on the outside of the bread to give it that classic panini crispiness. My boyfriend had no complaints about his panini and coffee, but seemed just as underwhelmed as I was. Next time we're in the area, I would probably prefer going to a different coffee shop or cafe. read more

I came here looking for a place to study that also had some food/snacks while I study. After seeing this place on Yelp, I came to see if this would be a good spot. This Bookstore/Cafe is on the bustling street of Clifton Ave in Clifton. There is parking on the street, but if you plan on staying for a while, there is free parking for shoppers if you turn into 1st Street into the parking lot or go from Madison Ave. When I first walked in, I was amazed by how great the place looked. You have the cafe on the right with seating all across from the left of the bookstore to the right. Then looking right in front of the entrance is the actual bookstore. However, I soon came to realize that this is more of a bookstore if you need something simple. Most of the books appeared to be Turkish while there were other genres for references and children's books. They also have a section with electronics and games which was interesting to look at. There was many cultural items which was amazing to look at. I wouldn't come here looking for a new book to read though. The cafe itself was nice. The staff was very friendly which is the best. They had quite a lot of customers coming in which can get very loud. Therefore, it is hard to study unless you come at a good time where it's quiet. Fortunately, if you go past the cafe towards the books, to the right will be a quieter seating area which was a great place to study with plenty of outlets. The only problem when I came here was that there was a booth area where many people had reserved it. They were extremely loud so I couldn't study here anymore. I had to leave. I tried the food when I first came into the bookstore. I had the cheese burek and grand waffle special. The burek is a bread that is warm and fluffy. I've had different styles of burek but the one here was average. The grand waffle special is a waffle with bananas, strawberries, Nutella, coconut shavings, and chocolate sprinkles. It was delicious but the waffle ended up being a tiny bit overdone which made it hard to cut. Overall, the bookstore is a nice place to walk around and grab a quick bite while also possibly talk with some friends. It's a nice place to study if it's quiet, but it hardly ever stayed quiet. This definitely is a great local business but based on what you come here for, it could be a good or alright experience. read more

Such a hidden gem in the downtown Clifton area! I've lived here all my life but only have started coming my since the past year. While it's a pretty small bookstore, I've come to love the cafe here. There's a wide selection of teas coffees and other beverages to choose from. They have some classic Turkish pastries like Burek which is delicious as well as Turkish coffee. Ant also brings in a wide selection of sweets such as cookies- the Italian butter cookies and the like, cakes, croissants and much more. You'll definitely find what you're craving here as they have a wide range of options. Prices are very reasonable and the service has always been fast and friendly. The cafe I've seen both packed and empty, but always has a very inviting feel to it. I would recommend this place to anyone who hasn't been ! :) read more

We love this little cafe, and bookshop! Everyone is so nice and welcoming and the food is delicious - we love the simit and baklava along with a lovely cup of Turkish tea! There is hearty fare too - warm boreks and stuffed pastries, soups, cakes and warm waffles. The selection of books and toys is great and we have found many interesting titles not carried by B&N. We like to buy local and support local businesses and are so grateful for ANT Cafe! It's a bright spot in an otherwise unremarkable block and it radiates life and happiness. Love the sidewalk tables in summer! There is free parking in the municipal lot right behind it. This is a wonderful spot and definitely a must try! This place is peaceful and lovely. They don't push you to buy anything and they don't nudge you out the door if you stay too long. It is largely Arabic in titles and food but still have a good selection of English stuff. If you're looking for romance novels and cheap thrillers this isn't the place. I went recently with my son because we want to support local, small businesses. A few observations. First, this bookstore and cafe is very clean and has a great cafe selection. Second, this is a primarily a Turkish and Muslim oriented bookstore. Which is fine and as such has a selection of titles oriented for a Muslim Turkish clientele. If you are Turkish and or Muslim this is a great little bookstore. The selection of "contemporary" and "western" titles is very limited. They have a good selection of Turkish language books and books in English about Turkey for adults and children. If you want a great cafe and are interested in expanding your horizons to learn about Turkey and or Islam culturally this is a a great spot. The 4 stars reflects 5 stars for the cafe and 3 stars for the book selection. If this cafe and bookstore was named A Turkish Bookstore I would have given 5 stars for the cafe and 5 stars for the book selection. read more
