    Bread for table

We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for a 12:00 PM reservation. It was pretty empty to our surprise with maybe two other tables with children. We were greeted by the friendly staff and seated promptly. Parking is a lot for the complex right in front. The space is bright, open and inviting and plenty of natural lighting. The menu is great with lots of options and I would say overall evening is shareable portion wise. For our party if 4 adults and two children we ordered: Table was serviced piping hot bread with side of olive oil SO FRESH AND HOT! Please note they do brush the top with egg so for the allergy folks an FYI GROUND BEEF PİDE (5/5) Thin crust/dough really flavorful topping ground beef and diced peppers. Would love to try the one with cheese next time! Tabouleh salad (5/5) fresh yummy and delightful! Grilled platter (5/5) that came with variety of meats a salad and rice Side of fries (5/5) crispy, piping hot and delish very big portion Okra dish (4/5) saucy and flavorful I would've liked the okra to be bigger pieces but other than that it was great They offer a variety of refreshments, desserts and it is BYO would definitely come back.

This was our first time here. We had heard from people we know and the social media videos and photos looked very appetizing. They took us immediately upon entry, we had a reservation. I will say the everything we ate was amazing. The meal over all was probably one of the best meals we have had at a restaurant in years of this type of cuisine and probably anything. Everything was cooked perfectly. The dishes we had came out at a good pace as well. We will return because of how good the food was. Two things annoyed me immensely that occurred but since the food was so good I kind of let it go but both have never happend to us ever in all of our years of dining anywhere 1 - when the server brought our check he said "we close in 10 minutes" it was 9:50. I understand that staff may want to go home at a reasonable time however to say that to us at the end of the meal, totally deflated me specifically. Additionally other tables were still on entrees around us. Again I have never had this happen anywhere and would be curious if they do this to all the patrons. Obviously not because others were still eating. We also were done with everything. 2 - it is BYOB - we brought wines and the server opened it. However at the end of the meal I had brought Arak and Sambuca to have with coffee and dessert and the server said "we don't allow hard liquor yet" I guess that's some kid of weird policy they have but it's unheard of anywhere that has and allows BYOB. We bring after dinner drinks and sometimes before dinner drinks everywhere that's BYOB and never in our lives has this happened. I did not say anything then because why bother if that's their policy. Very unusual Again the food was amazing. I still can't shake that he told us they were closing in 10 minutes.

A Turkish restaurant in my hometown of Cedar Grove?! Yes please!! OVERALL: When I found out about this place, I had to go. Generally, my small town of Cedar Grove doesn't have much going on the way of food. I was thrilled that Dervish opened up and I've been here a few times and will continue to come back! They are often busy so I do recommend getting a reservation in advance. FOOD: Everything I've had here has been good! I was especially happy with the soup I got, although it wasn't as good when I got it the second time. AMBIANCE: It's actually a reasonably large space, with nice decor. SERVICE: Good! No complaints. Nice and attentive.

Really nice place, beautiful decor, with wonderful service. Loved that everything was a la carte. I loved the lentil soup and my husband enjoyed the pide, he just said he wished the dough was a bit crispier. My only complaint is I wish there were more vegetarian options!

Me and my boyfriend's first time having Turkish food. The restaurant is set up beautifully and the decor is very nice. We got an appetizer, 2 meals and 2 desserts and it came out to about $110 including tip. We both thought the food was delicious! We will definitely be back to try something different next time! The food came in a timely manner. We went on Friday around 5:40 and was able to walk right in without a wait! Would highly recommend, everything was absolutely delicious!

Saturday afternoon was completely empty. Sat outside. Service was fast and friendly. Large portions but meat was just ok. Nothing special. I needed to salt everything. Lacked spice or interesting flavor. Vegetable that came with entrees was just lettuce and a ton of raw onion.

Pide with mixed toppings was delicious!

My friend picked Dervish for a recent dinner outing. The restaurant feels new, clean, and has tons of natural light. The seating is comfortable. The staff were all professional and helped us select a nice range of dishes. Baba ganoush, labneh, roasted eggplant in tomato sauce, shepherds salad, and the mixed toppings pide and the fried liver served as a nice appetizer round. The mixed grill and manti in yogurt dressing were excellent as a shared main course. The ground kebab was especially good, nice flavor and texture. Definitely an enjoyable dinner!

I've ordered from this restaurant once before but this time my husband and I actually went to Dervish. We absolutely loved it - the food and service were fantastic. Vibe was also great in the restaurant. This will definitely be added to our go to restaurant roster. We had Lentil Soup The Cold App Platter Pide with added egg Onion Kebab (Special) Turkish Coffee Baklava Rice pudding

    Calf Liver appetizer was exceptional
    Simi B.

Loved the simplicity and clean ambiance. The service was really good, they recommended we try the calf liver fry which was superb, no smell(I sometimes can't eat liver if it has a peculiar unavoidable smell) but this one was very well prepared and seasoned just right! Ali Nazik with lamb cubes was too good(also recommended by our server) and the Pistachio Kunefe was yummy but a tad bit too sweet. Onion kebabs were good too but not as yummy as the Ali Nazik :-) We will definitely visit again!

First of all, the bread comes out hot and toasted. It's perfect. Everything is super fresh. I loved the shepherd salad. Walnuts were lovely touch in the Lebni - I would like it to have more garlic but was delicious anyway. Service was on great. And the decor is very pleasant. It's a byob and it gets busy so call ahead. Can't wait to try more of Their delicious dishes.

Hidden Turkish Gem! The food was delicious! The service was on point. The restaurant is clean and had good decor. Suggestion to the owner/manager: increase the size and angle of the signage by the road, to take advantage of the cars passing by 46. We only manage to find the restaurant via gps.

I was actively looking to try a new restaurant in the area when Dervish came across my Yelp feed. I pass this restaurant often and decided to make a reservation for a Saturday night. My expectations were definitely exceeded! First of all, the restaurant itself is beautiful. It has a great ambiance and atmosphere. Modern but traditional at the same time. It was so hard to order since everything on the menu sounded delicious. We settled in the Turkish pizza as an app which was wonderful. So flavorful and crispy. I could have eaten 3 portions. I had lamb and buy boyfriend had kofte. Each entree was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. We also loved the bread they served. It was so thin and light. I highly recommended giving this place a try. I would make a reservation since every table, indoors and outdoors, was full!

The olive oil didn't seem to pair super well with it though. Got the Adana kebab and mixed grill to go (sampled all the items at the restaurant while still hot). Chicken shish- fairly tender. Slightly charred. Good flavor Lamb shish- cooked ~ medium with a little pink. Good flavor but could be a bit more tender. I do prefer my meats medium rare so it could just be that. I tasted piece of the chicken in the chicken salad & it was really good & well flavored so it was kind of puzzling to me that The chicken thigh lacked flavor even though the chicken itself was fresh & delicately grilled, vegetables was great especially the baby potatoes, rice was meh! But it came with no kind of sauce. There were at least 3 tables celebrating their birthday which I took for a good sign & place appears child friendly without being annoying so it seems like a great neighborhood spot. With good atmosphere & great service, & fresh ingredients, I was somewhat disappointed in the lack of flavors in several dishes but I would still cautiously recommend this place if you live in the neighborhood but I would not go out of my way to get to this restaurant.

The new owners have completely reimagined the space into a moderately upscale, but still family-friendly, Mediterranean oasis with a contemporary aesthetic that's also a huge culinary step up from its predecessor. The staff was friendly and super attentive without ever being overbearing and went the extra mile to ensure we had a great meal and a great experience. My dining companion and I started with the special Trio Dip ($20), a fantastic, delicious starter with shareable portions of traditional hummus, a unique avocado hummus, and perfectly smoky baba ghanoush with crunchy walnuts alongside with a basket of warmly toasted pita bread. For our entree, we decided to share the Mandaloun Mix Grill ($40) and split the three kebabs -- filet mignon shish, ground beef kofta, and grilled chicken. This platter is a masterclass in grilling with three juicy and flavorful kebabs. Mandaloun also pays attention to small details that make the dining experience so memorable. We were both huge fans of the dipping dish with a concoction of olive oil, za'atar seasoning, and sesame seeds served with the pita and the toum -- an emulsion of garlic, oil, lemon juice, and salt which creates a thick, mayonnaise-like condiment that is 100% vegan and dairy-free -- served alongside our entree that's a perfect zesty pairing for the grilled chicken. One of the staff noticed how much I enjoyed both and brought over a small 'to go' container of each for us to take home. There was also a brief "if you know, you know" moment during dinner that I am sure was entirely unintentional. Our Mandaloun Mix Grill entree came with a tasty green salad topped with crispy pita strips, which felt like a very sophisticated homage to the Friendly's Crispy Chicken Salad entree that was topped with tortilla strips. PRO TIP #1: Bring a bottle of wine or beer from home to enjoy with your meal. Mandaloun is a BYOB establishment and does not serve alcohol. PRO TIP #2: Bring cash. Mandaloun has added a small surcharge for using credit cards to pay for your meal.

Its English name comes from a Greek legend: Zeus had an affair with a beautiful woman named Io. When Hera, his wife, discovered his infidelity, she turned Io into a cow and created a horsefly to sting her on the rump. Io jumped clear across the strait. Thus, "bous" = "cow" and "poros" = "crossing place": Bosphorus = "crossing place of the cow." Located off of busy Franklin Avenue in Nutley, my partner, our friends, and I have decided on our dinner at this family-owned-and-run BYOB establishment, which has been open since 1995. A reservation was made for a party of 4 by calling their restaurant. Upon arrival after three years, we were welcomed by Nora, the owner, and made our way to a table by the piano inside, evoking a cozy, thoughtfully designed, upscale vibe with music playing softly. Their menu features Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine. For starters, we decided on the Puffed Rill Pastry and Grape Leaves. Our main meal consisted of all lamb dishes (Lamb Shish Kebab, Beyti Kebab, Lamb Chops, and Lamb Sauté). Our food was fresh, well seasoned, and cooked to perfection, accompanied by a beautifully presented dish. Everything was authentically made with love here. Wish we could have stayed for dessert, as they looked amazing, but some of us were in a rush. It's definitely on the higher end cost but worth the taste. Our visit ended with a hug and a piece of candy.
