I have been to other Turkish restaurants. This is the best I have been to, ever. The complimentary bread they give at the beginning of the meal was incredible--it was soft and flaky and melted in my mouth. We got the mixed grill for two. The presentation of the dish was out of this world, and all the meats were delicious, tender and juicy. I thought that chicken might be dry, but it was so juicy! We also tried a traditional Turkish dessert, the kunafeh (sp?), and it was light and delicious. We needed a light dessert because the mixed grill for two filled us up. The waitress recommended the kunafeh, and she was spot-on!! Our experience was excellent. Service was great. The atmosphere was fun and festive. We would definitely go back. read more

Amazing food at an unexpected location. Dervish Turkish hit the spot. Came here for iftaar, and surely they raised the bar. I ordered the cige kofte and Mixed Grill platter for 3 and was pleasantly surprised. The kofte was greatly seasoned and the meat from The platter was so flavorful, and NOT DRY! The platter came with shredded lettuce and pickled cabbage. The interior of the restaurant is nice and pretty, and servers were all attentive. The food is delicious normally i would order takeout and the male hosts/ staff are professional and pleasant. However on this occasion I entered to collect my order greeting this person upon entering the establishment and was met with a foul stinch of unwelcoming and sour personally coming from a young women. Not only did she fail to return the greet but her face was crumbled up in a frown and she was micro aggressive as I seeked to locate my prepaid order. If Dervish wants their business to spiral gradually they would do a fine job by keeping a cancer like that hanging around to host people. Don't know if the girl had a horrible day but she needed to take such days off. Can't continue spending my money where unfriendly cold vibes are being exchanged so I will casually discontinue attendance and go where people respect people as Im quick with the boycott energy lol. We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for a 12:00 PM reservation. It was pretty empty to our surprise with maybe two other tables with children. We were greeted by the friendly staff and seated promptly. Parking is a lot for the complex right in front. The space is bright, open and inviting and plenty of natural lighting. The menu is great with lots of options and I would say overall evening is shareable portion wise. For our party if 4 adults and two children we ordered: Table was serviced piping hot bread with side of olive oil SO FRESH AND HOT! Please note they do brush the top with egg so for the allergy folks an FYI GROUND BEEF PİDE (5/5) Thin crust/dough really flavorful topping ground beef and diced peppers. Would love to try the one with cheese next time! Tabouleh salad (5/5) fresh yummy and delightful! Grilled platter (5/5) that came with variety of meats a salad and rice Side of fries (5/5) crispy, piping hot and delish very big portion Okra dish (4/5) saucy and flavorful I would've liked the okra to be bigger pieces but other than that it was great They offer a variety of refreshments, desserts and it is BYO would definitely come back. read more

This was our first time here. We had heard from people we know and the social media videos and photos looked very appetizing. They took us immediately upon entry, we had a reservation. I will say the everything we ate was amazing. The meal over all was probably one of the best meals we have had at a restaurant in years of this type of cuisine and probably anything. Everything was cooked perfectly. The dishes we had came out at a good pace as well. We will return because of how good the food was. Two things annoyed me immensely that occurred but since the food was so good I kind of let it go but both have never happend to us ever in all of our years of dining anywhere 1 - when the server brought our check he said "we close in 10 minutes" it was 9:50. I understand that staff may want to go home at a reasonable time however to say that to us at the end of the meal, totally deflated me specifically. Additionally other tables were still on entrees around us. Again I have never had this happen anywhere and would be curious if they do this to all the patrons. Obviously not because others were still eating. We also were done with everything. 2 - it is BYOB - we brought wines and the server opened it. However at the end of the meal I had brought Arak and Sambuca to have with coffee and dessert and the server said "we don't allow hard liquor yet" I guess that's some kid of weird policy they have but it's unheard of anywhere that has and allows BYOB. We bring after dinner drinks and sometimes before dinner drinks everywhere that's BYOB and never in our lives has this happened. I did not say anything then because why bother if that's their policy. A Turkish restaurant in my hometown of Cedar Grove?! Yes please!! OVERALL: When I found out about this place, I had to go. Generally, my small town of Cedar Grove doesn't have much going on the way of food. I was thrilled that Dervish opened up and I've been here a few times and will continue to come back! They are often busy so I do recommend getting a reservation in advance. FOOD: Everything I've had here has been good! I was especially happy with the soup I got, although it wasn't as good when I got it the second time. AMBIANCE: It's actually a reasonably large space, with nice decor. SERVICE: Good! No complaints. Me and my boyfriend's first time having Turkish food. The restaurant is set up beautifully and the decor is very nice. We got an appetizer, 2 meals and 2 desserts and it came out to about $110 including tip. We both thought the food was delicious! We will definitely be back to try something different next time! My friend picked Dervish for a recent dinner outing. The restaurant feels new, clean, and has tons of natural light. The seating is comfortable. The staff were all professional and helped us select a nice range of dishes. Baba ganoush, labneh, roasted eggplant in tomato sauce, shepherds salad, and the mixed toppings pide and the fried liver served as a nice appetizer round. Loved the simplicity and clean ambiance. The service was really good, they recommended we try the calf liver fry which was superb, no smell(I sometimes can't eat liver if it has a peculiar unavoidable smell) but this one was very well prepared and seasoned just right! Been looking forward to going to this restaurant as they kept popping up on my feed and it looked like fun and good food. Perfect for a birthday dinner. Went for my birthday on a busy Saturday night and the place was happening. Every table was taken and the buzz of conversations were in the air. For the amount of tables and people there, I will say that the staff is definitely overworked. They brought out the warm bread for the table but it was a bit dry. I had read some reviews that they typically serve the bread with oil so we asked for some oil as well. It was brought over but the oil didn't have any taste so it didn't do much for overall effect. I am a vegetarian and was excited to see that they had eggplant kebabs. I take blame that I didn't ask if it was a vegetarian dish and was surprised when I got it that it was lamb meatballs and charred eggplant skewers (2 of them). I took the meat off and gave it to my husband and ate the eggplant. It came with bread but no sauce or gravy so I was a bit disappointed in my choosing and lack of flavor (besides the charred taste). My husband got the lamb shank which came with sliced grilled eggplant in some sauce which he said was very tasty. We didn't get dessert as we had birthday cake at home to enjoy. My expectations were definitely exceeded! First of all, the restaurant itself is beautiful. It has a great ambiance and atmosphere. Modern but traditional at the same time. It was so hard to order since everything on the menu sounded delicious. We settled in the Turkish pizza as an app which was wonderful. So flavorful and crispy. I could have eaten 3 portions. I had lamb and buy boyfriend had kofte. Each entree was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. We also loved the bread they served. It was so thin and light. We tried this place recently for lunch, and it was such a pleasant experience from the moment we walked in. There was a ample natural light through the tall windows, and we appreciated how the tables were spaced out so that it never felt noisy or uncomfortable. Our waiter was attentive, and we enjoyed the soups (perfectly balanced lentil soup with lemon). The pita was INCREDIBLE--so fluffy! The adana kebab was tender and seasoned well; if anything, there was just a bit too much red onion in the parsley salad for my taste, but overall, this was a wonderful find, and we hope to be back again soon! read more

Absolutely excellent food and ambiance. This is definitely a great find in this area. We ordered their signature Onion Kabab, Adana Kabab and Mixed grill. Server was very courteous. The reason for 4 and not 5 star is that you have to ask for what you ordered a few times before everything is on the table. Reservation system is also very nice. Very open, clean modern Turkish vibe. Full traditional Turkish menu. We had the Lamb Kebab platter and the Lamb Adana platter for Sunday brunch. Beautifully presented with rice pilaf, a simple shredded green salad with tomato plus a marinated red onion/tabouleh salad and freshly done sesame flatbread. Let me start by saying this is one of my favorite restaurants. We've been there many times, given friends gift certificates, ordered out- pick up and delivery- and recommend it to everyone. However, I'm not sure if they have new chefs but we ordered for delivery 2 nights ago and the food was different-salty, the fabulous shepherd salad was minimal and small, big chunky pieces not minced, the cheese on the side was missing (we specified on the side), the falafel were smaller and too salty. Very disappointing. And the previous in restaurant experience had the lahambachun tasting too salty also and not flavorful, mostly dough with a small smeer of topping. I hope it's not the new normal for what was a wonderful restaurant. We will give it another chance, and will go to the restaurant. Hopefully this was a fluke and it will be back to the fabulous food we have come to enjoy at Dervish! read more

We stuck with a selection of familiar appetizers as a kind of Turkish tapas (kibbeh, hummus, babaganoush, turkish pizza, eggplant salad, falafel and shepherd salad) everything was excellent. The service was A+ (not always polished but sincere, friendly and efficient). The little Turkish pizzas were the best I've ever had. Spicy, crunchy, meaty! Interesting place. I'll have to go back to try again but first impression was pretty good. First off the place is amazing inside. 10/10 for decor. We were a party of 4 and the place was packed but didn't feel crowded. The staff was very pleasant and tried to explain the menu as best they can. The staff all seemed to be family and you are made to feel like a guest in their home. Appetizers came out fairly quickly and were very tasty8/10. The mains were shortly after and looked very impressive. We were lucky to get a special dish that they made for a large party that mostly didn't show since this is not on the menu we decided to get it not knowing much about it or even the price. Sometimes you just have to roll the dice. It was a lamb and rice dish served in a giant clay pot. It was good but could have been over the top if it came with some sauces and maybe raw veggies 7/10. 8/10 because the price was right for a dish this size that would easily feed 4. $80.
