They immediately earned a star for the doggy water bowl right in front. (During a heatwave, no less.) The owners have to be cool and caring, right? Went inside and between the artwork, music and incredibly friendly hostess/waitress/worker... we're already up to two stars. One kid went with the chicken club sandwich - was bummed it wasn't your classic "triple-decker" style but was just an overflowing (tasty) mess of a creation. Myself and the other kid went with the chicken and waffle - perfectly cooked chicken (with a wild mix of sweet and zing that kept my tongue delighted) on top of a waffle (that unfortunately was mush beneath the chicken breast). They offered a diverse list of (hot) teas and interesting drink concoctions but we didn't dip our toes in that part of the menu. I might grumble a wee bit... that butter knife was not ideal trying to cut into my food and those napkins were giving me high school cafeteria flashbacks. Happy to have stopped by for lunch, we'd definitely come back again - without a doubt. Cutest cafe! Small and quaint with very comfy chairs!!! Posted up for a couple of course to get some work done (4 hours.) I had a raspberry pomegranate tea and a toffee nut latte...both delicious. I am so glad, that I discovered the Sugar Tree Cafe. Even though there was a long wait, the owner did an exemplary job at sitting us down at the window counter and it was a great choice. People watching and enjoying a highly recommended meal was the perfect combination. I started with an Iced Coquito Latte. I enjoy "sweet" and the Coquito Latte satisfied my preference. It's part of their Fall drink menu and every item on that list look appealing. Our entrees were: Avocado Toast, with an over easy egg..... Sugar Tree Cafe Pancakes, with strawberries and whip cream dollops and.....I created my own Omelette (goat cheese, tomato, mushrooms, with a side salad). Each and every selection was DELICIOUS, all ingredients were fresh, thoroughly enjoyed, and highly recommended. Especially my omelette. The chunks of goat cheese were so creamy and spreading them throughout the entire omelette made it mouth-watering. Good food, but the service completely ruins the experience. I've visited here on several occasions, (all on slow days) and each time the service was terribly slow and unprofessional. I had to flag down multiple waitresses just to get basic items like cutlery, napkins, syrup, and honey while staff stood behind the counter chatting and eating. To my absolute shock, pickup was even worse--my frosted pastries were literally thrown loose into a paper bag with no box or wrapping, leaving a sticky mess. ( Quite unhygienic?) Staff also didn't seem to know their own menu. Ask about a menu item and you are responded to with a dismissive, impatient tone. It's a gorgeous spot with good food, but the consistently poor service makes it hard to justify coming back. I have given here many tries, and each visit was nothing short of disappointing. I attended a women's event at this location and was glad that after 5 PM they have parking in the back because street parking is very sparse. When you enter, There is a main common area that is medium size and a area to sit in the back as well that we used for the Photo Booth. It looks like it will be a great place to work from home or grab a cup of coffee/ have brunch with friends. I visited here on a Friday afternoon for lunch (around 1pm) with my mom. There were only about 1-2 other tables in use. The restaurant is fairly small so I wouldn't suggest going in a big group (unless it's during less busy hours). We were seated right away. The decor is so cute!! This place is delicious! Came here for lunch with my coworker and we both agreed everything was tasty and made to perfection! I had the Nutley chicken sandwich which is made with fried chicken. The fried chicken was tasty and not greasy at all which is what I was concerned about . This sandwich was a perfect combo the avocado the bacon all went well together. The buffalo chicken empanada was tasty , had a lot of buffalo ! It was pleasantly enjoyed with the herb sauce that came with it. One is enough! My friend had the fried cinnamon toast and said it was amazing only complaint was the plate that it came on. The plate made it hard for her to cut into her French toast without spilling syrup everywhere. Overall she loved it. This is the second time I've been here and I love the ambiance! The entire place is adorable, with its whimsical theme. When you arrive you are instantly greeted by the staff and provided with menus. I also love the fact you can sit wherever you'd like and it wasn't busy for a Monday morning. The monkey bread tasted like cinnamon toast crunch cereal and paired well with our flat white coffee that we've been obsessed with since our trip to Australia. This is our second visit. This place is so cute and we were impressed on our first visit. This visit fell short. The staff is very friendly, attentive and accommodating. The food was all of this time. We ordered the Avocado toast, which was very good last time and it had real, smashed avocado. This time the avocado may have come from a premade brand. It was not good. I had the Sophie salad and added grilled chicken, the avocado was freshly sliced and the dressing was delicious! The notorious BLT was completely missing the lettuce(strange) but the bacon was good. The deep fried cinnamon toast was very good with the cinnamon cream cheese. Our drinks were good. We will return for a third try. This was a place I've been eyeing for years and it turned out to be just as beautiful in real life as in the pictures! The florals on the ceiling inspired me to have similar decor in my distant in the future wedding. I loved the comfy, but still classy setting. We came on a Saturday morning, which surprisingly had no wait. The employees were nice in explaining how to order, any recommendations, and the parking situation. When I saw Latte Art on the menu, I thought they would do it the classic way, but you actually provide an image and they print it somehow on top of your latte. I loved having my puppy on my coffee, so I didn't drink it for the longest time. I also ordered matcha pancakes and the nitro fries. The matcha pancakes were neither too sweet or too strong, but had plenty of sweet toppings. Honestly, I wish there more fruits and less sweet toppings for a more refreshing taste! The texture of the pancakes weren't particularly fluffy, but still satisfying to eat. The fries were seasoned well and were a nice complement to the sweet pancakes. I took my daughter here, it was our first time visiting this very adorable eatery. However, I don't know that I'd return. The hostess was extremely rude. She told us it would be a 30-40 min wait. I decided to order a cappuccino while waiting. It was served in a to-go cup. The hostess preceded to approach me 3 more times asking if we'd like a counter seat, after I told her NO the first time. Others who came on after us were then seated at a 2 seater table top. I found this girl to be offensive & rude. They need help in the hospitality dept. Food arrived ice cold. I wasn't expecting much from the food and drink based on the reviews I read, but was pleasantly surprised by my experience. We ordered a variety of things from the menu: Buffalo cauliflower, vegan joy milkshake, deep fried cinnamon toast, avocado toast, a cappuccino and a macchiato. Overall we enjoyed everything that we ordered. My favorite thing that we ordered was the cinnamon toast. Served with hazelnut cream cheese, it was delicious! I'd go back again just for that alone. The foam art is pretty neat and for $2 per drink, it's worth it just for the memory (and pictures!). Prices are pretty steep and ordering just 2 or 3 things can really add up fast. I had been here once before years ago where I had my picture taken and printed on my coffee which was a little pricy but this time it seems like the prices went down a touch and they're listening to what customers are desiring - seasonal lattes. I went for their reindeer salted caramel latte and it was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. My drink was to go so the antlers couldn't stay but the barista was able to crack them in half and keep them in the coffee. My other drink (not pictured) was a tiramisu iced latte. So I definitely enjoy the ambiance of this place as soon as you walk in. A very whimsical feeling with a big tree in the center and a chic , modern design. I love all the special touches, the furniture and especially the babe cave! It did suck a little for me because I came in with a stroller so it was definitely hard to navigate and I would advise against it for sure. The food and coffee were decent. I ordered the Eggplant Caprese with an iced dirty chai and my friend had Sofia's Salad with a Hot Mocha. My chai was delicious and my eggplant was fair. The eggplant had great texture but there just was something lacking slightly.Presentation was beautiful on the food. My friend enjoyed her salad and said it was very flavorful and complex. I love Sugar Tree Cafe. The staff are always very friendly. The ambiance is peaceful but lively. There are multiple different seating sections to choose from including the busier and more energetic front of house underneath the amazing indoor faux tree and flowers, at a bar looking out the front window, or in the back in the cozy "library" area. Whomever decorated has a great touch for sure. In terms of food we've tried the avocado toast (excellent) and the breakfast sandwich (also great). They have pastries and a lot of other great menu options that I look forward to trying. Of course the lattes and cappuccinos don't disappoint either. S'more milkshake was an A+ as well. Quick tip: Parking in the rear of the establishment is limited to certain time periods of the day. Your safest bet is to park on the side street half a block down from the cafe. If I remember, parking in front of the cafe is available, but it is a tight squeeze on located on one side of the street. We were hoping to find a fanciful spot for the kids to inspire their imagination of faeries, but arrived to a do-it-for-the-gram venue instead. Oh well, kids will be kids and it appeared that we were a bit too ambitious with our search that day! To be clear, there is nothing wrong with the latter. With that being said, Sugar Tree Cafe presents many great photo ops. Indulging patrons with boutique vibes, the venue delivers a cozy cafe experience where you can sip on tea and snack on small eats as you enjoy the playful interior decor. Yes, it is a bit of a tight fit and there is a set of small steps to get to the other parts of the cafe, but it is more or less manageable for anyone considering on bringing in a stroller. Once inside, there are really 3 distinct areas for photo ops. Each of these areas have a bit of a different theme, but all compliment that cozy, boutique cafe feeling. It really is more of a place to hang out with your friends and chat it up, rather than conducting business or doing work. Definitely a neat place to host a baby-shower, or large group of friends. The menu is quite diverse with a variety of drinks to include shakes and eats. We ordered several things from the menu to try it out and were satisfied with what we got. The Funfetti shake is definitely a bit too sweet, but the nice English tea along with the Nitro fries balanced it out. While the staff were super friendly and helpful (they were incredible with our kids), I would say that the venue itself is not suited for young children - there is minimal room for them to run a round and explore. They don't take reservations, it's first come-first served which I'm ok with (I'm alway late no matter what...never my fault though). Great brunch, coffee was good, my toast was amazing too.
