This is definitely a must go to restaurant in Rutherford , NJ. This place has both indoor and outdoor seating, very beautifully decorated and designed. Has classy but laid back style and energy. Staff are all very kind and service is definitely on point. Experience was great from beginning to the end. Of course the star of this show was the food. I got to try the special which was Ribeye grilled cheese sandwich on sourdough bread with house made gravy. It was amazing! Hat goes off to the chef, this was a great creation. Would try this again without a doubt. I also tried the Beef Rib Ragu pasta dish on their regular menu which was amazing as well. Looking forward to trying other items here on the menu. Can't forget I also ordered a cappuccino which was also delicious. Was not disappointed by anything during this entire experience. Great vibes, great staff, and great food! read more

Went for lunch and the place was pretty much empty. That didn't help us as the staff was way too busy on their phones and completely ignoring us. The only thing they responded to was the bell coming from the kitchen. The menu was enticing. Lot of good things on it including the daily specials. I ordered the Arincini which was beautifully presented but were only mildly warmish with some cold spots mixed in. Disappointing. For entree I ordered the spaghetti alla carbonara. It was once again not served hot but was somewhat warmer than the arinicini but not by much. They could step up their game and brew their own ice tea instead of serving bottled ice tea. It's pretty easy to make ice teas with various flavors. Was a cute place, tables a little close together but was clean, nice lighting and decor. As a customer I would have expected more attention to our glasses, check on how the food was occasionally. read more

Highlights: Fried Calamari and meatball appetizers were great! Mid-lights: The vodka chicken parm with rigatoni was good, but the chicken was a little too soft/soggy. Also the portions were a little small. Lowlights: The restaurant was a little understaffed, wait times for water, to take our order, to get our food was extremely long. 4 dishes ordered and dinner was 2.5 hours... Overall the food was good but pricey for what it was. read more

Food and staff are top notch. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. Portions are plentiful.

Last night was my first time at Suprema and I was so impressed! The smell of Italian cooking when you walk in is so intoxicating! It was a busy night and the staff was so welcoming and nice. The lasagna was made with fresh pasta and my friend had the chicken Milanese salad- both delicious. Will definitely be back! read more

We started with the calamari which was freshly prepared, hot and served with peppers and squash, very tasty. Unfortunately the chicken Parmesan was served barely warm. We didn't order the sandwiches until we finished the calamari so not sure why they were not hot. Definitely precooked and heated. Our server never checked in on our meal. Disappointing. read more

The decor is very nice and comfortable in this solid Italian restaurant. The service was a bit slow but pleasant. I had the Artichoke Salad to start, which was very tasty. For my entree, the Stuffed Salmon over potatoes. This was excellent. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the wine sauce was a perfect accompaniment. My other diners did not like their meals as much as I did. My husband found the Pork Chop a bit oily. But overall, it was still a nice meal. Dessert was just okay. It was Cannoli and Strawberry Cake. It was surprisingly bland. It is BYOB which is a plus. Prices are very reasonable. I would return. read more

I celebrated my birthday dinner at Suprema, and it was a lovely experience. We started with Caesar salads and fried calamari to share, then I had the tagliatelle beef rib ragu. The portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The pasta especially stood out as fresh and well-made. The service was nice and attentive. It wasn't busy when we arrived but did get livelier later since it was a Thursday before the Fourth of July weekend. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Not too fancy, just a really nice spot. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Suprema is BYOB, which is a great plus. Parking can be a bit tricky since it's in a busy downtown area with lots of other restaurants nearby. Prices are a bit higher than your average Italian restaurant, but not over the top, which felt fair for the quality. For dessert, I split a piece of chocolate layer cake and I enjoyed pistachio gelato, both of which were delicious. I would definitely recommend Suprema for a date night or special occasion when you want good food in a relaxed, cozy setting. read more

4.5 stars My friend and I were going to a concert in Rutherford and wanted to grab dinner beforehand. There were so many excellent options on Park Avenue that it was hard to select one, but we wound up settling on Suprema. The restaurant was an easy 5-minute walk from the train station and was, thankfully, very warm and cozy inside on that chilly evening. The service that we experienced throughout the night was also very friendly and gracious. After we were seated, we were told that the restaurant was BYO and that there was a liquor store across the street. I decided to quickly run over and grab a bottle of wine, since we had some time to enjoy our meal before the show started. In addition to the bottle of red, we began our dinner with a complementary bread basket and an appetizer to share. Sadly, the slices of bread were rather dry and hard, so I only indulged in a few bites. However, our Rice Ball starter was unbelievable! We received three massive, fried spheres of creamy risotto and gooey mozzarella that were sitting in a sweet, herbaceous basil pomodoro sauce. They were honestly the best arancini I thought I had ever had! For my main course, I ordered the Chicken Porcini, which included two large Bell & Evans boneless chicken breasts, served over a light, creamy golden potato puree. The poultry was topped with fresh, roasted cremini and porcini mushrooms, as well as a sweet wine and porcini glaze. It felt like an upscale, modern version of a chicken marsala. I adored every aspect of the dish, from the tender chicken to the aromatic mushrooms to the homestyle mashed potatoes (an item I do not even typically like). Suprema provided a stellar meal in a relaxed atmosphere that was the perfect pre-concert vibe we were looking for. Plus, the food was amazing, so we definitely made a wise choice in picking the place. read more

Our favorite go to local place! The food never disappoints. The rice balls are made to order! Crunchy on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside! My husband had the chicken Parmesan with vodka sauce. The bread was fresh and crunchy and the chicken was plentiful. He couldn't finish the whole thing! My daughter had the pasta with ragu and even though oh the pricey side and not too warm she liked it and had some leftovers for later. ($34). read more

Really nicely decorated restaurant with ample seating and solid customer service! The food was fresh and hot and you could tell it was quality ingredients. It is a little pricey for the amount of food but it's delicious and worth the money. I ordered the roast beef sandwich and the beef jus was just divine. The charred garlic bread was a great vehicle for the thinly shaved ribeye and gooey mozzarella. I would come here again for sure. It looked like on the other side of the restaurant they had a baby shower, so this could be an amazing place to book a party! read more

Was really looking forward to this experience but maybe too much. The place is comfortable and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Ordered the burrata with peaches. It was very good. My entree choice brought things downhill fast! The bread they had to substitute was hard, the chicken wasn't cooked so I took half of the sandwich home to heat up and found a hair in the middle of the half sandwich. Not a pleasant experience at all ‍ read more

6 years?! My goodness I didn't realize I haven't been here in that long! Time for an update! I still frequent Michael's Salumeria, the deli that started this whole venture into restaurants for the family of theirs, but I'm happy to see Anthony expanded this place and removed the deli counter. It's feels more refined now and more of the restaurant I assume he dreamed it to be! Service and food is still as excellent as always! He expanded into area next door, removed the deli counter and went full blown restaurant. Love it Ant! Had the newer version of fried calamari and the fried lemon slices and zucchini strips to the calamari added a whole new level. Came with marinara, tartar sauce and fresh lemon wedges with fried long hots on top! Had this incredible artichoke salad with chopped pistachios balsamic and honey. Wow! Enjoyed chicken with mushrooms and the smoothest mashed with a drizzle of EVOO on top, spaghetti and shrimp Arrabiata, spaghetti pomodoro with shrimp & burrata added and tagliatelle with ragu. My father only wished his Arrabiata had jumbo shrimp as mine did and not the small shrimp. I have to agree with him because once you have had their jumbo shrimp you always want it! Pasta was Al dente, sauce tastes like u are dining right in a tomato field in Italy and the shrimp were freshly caught that morning! Not a fan of mashed, but I couldn't help stealing a few bites off my mother's plate! Impressive to get me to eat! Tagliatelle was so light and not your normal heavy texture. The pomodoro was more sauce based this time versus cherry tomato based as in past. You can see the difference in the pictures . The burrata was creamy and I highly recommend you add it to any pasta dish! For dessert we had a massive slice of chocolate layered cake and a decaf Capp. Nailed it again Ant! Always a good bite on Park Ave! Definitely will frequent more often! read more

I have been coming to Suprema for years and each time, the service, ambiance and food never disappoint! Most recently, I held my daughters Baptism party here and the experience was nothing short of amazing. Everything was perfect from start to finish. I primarily dealt with Dan who is the owner. He has been a pleasure to work with and went above and beyond to make this event extra special for us. The food was delicious (as always!). Since we were in a separate area of the restaurant for a private party, we had a little bit of flexibility on what we wanted to serve our guests. All of our choices were a hit, not to mention, the amount of food was plentiful! The staff was wonderful between helping with set up and being attentive and accommodating. Our guests definitely felt taken care of! Everyone made this special day feel effortless which allowed my husband and I to actually enjoy the day with our baby and family. In my opinion, it's rather difficult to find a restaurant that you can frequent for years and years and still get the same delicious food and service, but Suprema is definitely that place for me! read more

08/09/25 Decided to try Suprema on a recommendation from my SIL. Not too very hungry, so we both opted for their breaded pork chops with broccoli rabe, long hots and a lemon/garlic sauce. Pounded thin (not TOO thin) the chop was very tender and paired well with the sauce, rabe and long hots. Brought half of it home to enjoy the next day. Service was very friendly and prompt. I'm sure we'll be back. Yes, it's a BYOB read more

I was there this weekend for a birthday party. We had approximately 50 guests. I say that to highlight that cooking for that many people at once certainly adds to the difficulty in getting it "just right". The other side of the restaurant also had lunch guests as well, I am looking forward to returning here very soon, The ambiance and food was outstanding! We were served "family style." We started with the most delicious rice balls. Next came the tastiest meatballs with ricotta cheese. They also did an amazing job on the fried mozzarella sticks. These were just the appetizers. I couldn't get enough of the salad especially the dressing. Delicious! The main course of chicken parmigiana (melted in your mouth) risotto with corn and sausage and then penne with vodka sauce was awesome! Definitely a "return to" type of restaurant. read more

Food was very good but the servers need to get off their phones and pay better attention to the customers. Our appetizers (rice balls) were cold inside (both orders) but very tasty. We did not send them back. All our main entree dishes were enjoyed very much. Taste was spot on and pasta was cooked perfectly. We had to wave our hands to get the servers attention multiple times since no one was paying attention to customers. read more

Been coming here for years and it always been great. These days...meh. It's clearly new owners and I wish them well but I get the feeling they are just trying to carry on the previous owners dishes but just can't get there. I just can't figure out what it's trying to be. The music is pumping and it just doesn't fit. It's 8:00pm and both tables next to us are wearing sweatpants. Can't fault the restaurant but when the specials are sandwiches for dinner I guess that's what you get. Appetizers were ok. Meatballs with no sauce and a spec of ricotta. Entrees were just average. My wife got a chicken cutlet with lemon served on top of 7 lonely "roasted" potatoes. The potatoes were under the chicken served on top of sauce. Soggy mess. We think they forgot the salt. I ordered the tagliatelle with braised beef but got linguine with braised beef. Oh well. Forgot the salt there too. Bland. Ordered two scoops of gelato and it was served in the same drinking glass the still water was served in. Not much of a presentation and even more challenging to share. The previous owners transitioned from lunch to dinner seamlessly. Nowadays maybe this is just a lunch spot. read more

We came to suprema for Valentine's Day dinner and really enjoyed it! The ambience was relaxing, candle lit dinner vibes. The food was delicious, fresh, and a great serving to enjoy some more at home the next day. We tried the rice balls and the fried mozzarella both were delicious and crispy on the outside. For the entree I had the chicken Parmesan but with vodka sauce as they asked which sauce I prefer and I decided to try something different and I really enjoyed it. The chicken was cooked well the spaghetti was al dente, I usually don't care for spaghetti but suprema cooked it well! We ended the night with tiramisu, that I felt was lacking something, possibly too much cream for my preference? I couldn't quite pinpoint it but it was ok. For nonalcoholic drinks they had a couple canned teas that contain added sugars, a couple Italian soda flavors, bottled still water, and sparkling water. Service was great and attentive. Suprema is BYOB so be sure to grab your preferred drink before you head here for dinner. Parking is street only (you need to pay if it's not Sunday or after 7pm I believe) as well. There's a pay for parking lot a few blocks away if you prefer that quick accessibility instead of looking for street parking. read more

LOVE Suprema! Located on the main street ( Park Ave) in Rutherford it has street and municipal parking. It offers a similar Lunch & Dinner menu. Large open room (nice); OK on ambience. It seemed a little slow for a Thursday night; staff was super friendly & accommodating. Prices are very fair for the current market & great ingredients. BYOB. We were a Foodie group that night, meaning try as many options and share.. IMO.. a (perfectly) small menu ( 10 Apps, 6 pastas, 10 entrees) + a small Specials menu. I love menus like this. Gives the kitchen the time to perfect each item. We "liked" to "loved" everything.... THE FOOD (apps) --RICE BALLS made with creamy risotto - mozzarella - basil pomodoro; 3 to an order with delish red sauce, they only charged $4 more for an extra ball so we all had one each. --FRIED CALAMARI crispy domestic calamari - rice flour crust - arrabiata & house-made tartar sauces on the side. These were house made and very good. Portion was good; FYI--the price of fresh, whole calamari has skyrocketed lately; Don't be put off here by a $24 price as I am seeing more and more restaurants lately switch over to the "bag of pre-breaded, frozen calamari" which is nasty. Here you pay for what you get...excellently done. THE FOOD ( entrees) --TAGLIATELLE BEEF RIB RAGU (pasta entree) made with slow simmered beef - Italian soffrito - milk - tomato passata - pecorino cheese; Yes, we ordered this entree to arrive with the other appetizers and shared. Pasta cooked perfectly; ingredient all fresh and worked together; very comforting. --CHICKEN PARMIGIANA--served with a side of pasta; two perfectly cooked breasts, great sauce & cheese....Just a great example of the classic dish. Kudos! -- CHICKEN PORCINI --Bell & Evans boneless breast - roasted cremini & porcini mushrooms in a gold potato puree - sweet wine & porcini glaze.....Large portion. Another excellent dish. Flavorful & comforting. --LASAGNA BOLOGNESE -fresh lasagna pasta - simmered beef ragu - house made mozzarella -creamy bechamel - San Marzano tomatoes - grated pecorino cheese; YUM! I ordered this because it has bechamel, I've never seen it in a lasagna, and I love anything with it. It's added flavor was subtle yet really improved an already great dish. --SQUASH RISOTTO --creamy arborio rice - roasted kabocha & honeynut squash -house made reggiano butter - toasted hazelnuts - vincotto; Now this was a good dish; Vincotto is like a balsamic glaze which added a little sweetness to this dish. It's a great choice for the Vegan diner. Really good to have it on the menu for that reason. We fished off with some good Americana coffee ( espresso & regular coffee beans); espresso, and a few desserts. A word to my fellow Foodie friends....Rutherford NJ is a food-centric town; Always new places popping up to try which can let some people forget the ones that have been around awhile. I heard Suprema has been open for approx 7 years and I think it should have a bigger crowd on a Thursday night. Food is great; prices are fair ( good value); and service was great. A lot of us like trying new places all the time but please don't forget the places we come across and enjoy....IMO Suprema is one of those. ( check out the picture of the sandwich in my review..OMG.. I have to go back ..LOL) read more

The food is phenomenal, the prices are very steep. The reason is gave it a 4 and not a 5 is because of the prices. Two of us for a lunch pick up was $48. We had one Waldorf chicken salad sandwich ) served on bread that was very hard and the chicken salad to bread ratio was off. The flavor is so good but the sandwiched lacked on the amount inside. I had the Arugula and artichoke salad with added grilled chicken. The food is fresh and top notch but the prices and portions are not big for that price. This has a true Italy feel to it. One side has sit down, casual Italian bistro style dining and the other side is take out. read more

Suprema truly serves "phone eats first" food. Presentation is always lovely! During warm weather months, they have outdoor seating, too! Service is usually great, however one time a girlfriend and I ordered a plate of mussels which had a very pungent & odd smell (I've eaten, Ordered & usually LOVE mussels but these were off!) & they would not remove it from the receipt although we barely ate any. Overall, great experience typically and would recommend. (Also to note: They have a long, awkward lunch break - I believe daily from 2-4. In hindsight maybe they are trying to be like real Italians, which I can appreciate) read more

Best food and ambiance ever! Bury me here!!!!!! The service and the owners are top tier.

Suprema is a true gem and easily one of the best Italian spots in the area. While everything is delicious and made with care (hello, fresh pasta!), the absolute must-order is the Roast Beef Sandwich. It's a work of art! The combination of tender, savory roast beef, that melted (or perfectly fried) mozzarella, and the sweet, rich caramelized onions makes for a seriously addictive, indulgent meal. The bread holds up beautifully, too. Service is friendly, and while it can get a little busy, it's totally worth the wait. Go treat yourself! read more

Came with a friend on a random Tuesday night and this place was packed. The service was absolutely terrible. I think we were here for about 2.5 hours when it could have easily Been an hour. We sat outside. I will say there were only 2 people working the whole place. They did the best they can do but shame on management especially when this place seems to take a liking to reservations. The staff were forgetful but working their assessments off and our experience suffered for sure. However the house made mozzersle sticks were so damn good. I would come back for these alone. We split 2 pasta dishes. The pesto and artichoke with bucatini was such a nice surprise. I love the texture. Its not your traditional pesto sauce by any means so keep that in mind but thr artichoke and lemon make these dish light and refreshing verses your traditional dense pasta dish. The pomodoro was decent. We added chicken and that was nice. I think overall the sauce was okay. I like mime thinker but I appreciated the amount of garlic that was used. Tiramisu had such great flavor and was made well. I just wish it were juicier. read more

I had really high hopes for Suprema, but the experience was genuinely disappointing. The chicken parmigiana tasted like it was made with jarred sauce--and not the good kind. We ordered the bucatini pasta and chose the option to add burrata. When the dish arrived, the burrata was missing. After I mentioned it to the server, she brought out a small, ice-cold ball of burrata in a bowl, which only made it more underwhelming. To make matters worse, while we were eating, the busboy began spraying cleaner on the table right next to us. I could smell the chemicals more strongly than the already tasteless bucatini I was trying to get through--and I'm certain some of it landed in my food. Do yourself a favor and go to Paisano up the street instead. Much better food and a far better experience. read more
