Hidden gem. A real hole in the wall, this place is pretty good. Not the best of anything Iv ever had but it's good, a nice meal. Bread and butter when you sit down the bread is very good, hard outside really fluffy and soft inside. Pasta was great sauce had great flavor, my only negative was I like my chicken cutlets very thin and these are a bit thick, again the sauce was very good. My father decided on Italian Food last minute this past Father's Day, so we ended up at Sergio's. Getting a reservation for 7 adults and a baby was pretty easy. The restaurant seems small from the outside but they've got a decent amount of space. The interior is dimly lit and I think describing it as 'intimate' is accurate. The dishes aren't family style but I ended up trying everyone's food anyway. Everything was delicious but my favorites were the carbonara and the mushroom ravioli. My dad loves linguini with clam sauce and he said Sergio's is really good. He usually doesn't finish what he orders, but this time he cleaned his plate. I ordered the chicken parmigiana and it was solid, but not amazing. After tasting everyone else's dishes I'd probably go for a different dish next time I come back. Service is friendly and quick. Was disappointed by the limited offerings. While most dishes were okay, mine was chicken Adriana. At first was fine until started eating second chicken thigh, it was undercooked. Stated it to server but he basically brushed it off as if I was finished. It was not worth eating for risk of undercook poultry. Unfortunately they did not care to ask further about the undercooked portion. So a bit disappointed in their concern or follow-up to make good on it. Whether one's craving traditional Italian flavors or a Spanish twist, my partner, our friends, and I decided on this BYOB establishment located at a strip mall on Mercer Street in Lodi. A reservation was easily made on Open Table for 6 persons at 6:30 pm tonight.   Named after the former owner and self-trained chef, Sergio Mejia, the outside of Sergio's Missione looks like a storefront. However, for some of us as first-timers, we would think it's either a church or an antique shop where religious-themed objects and artwork ran throughout, adding a nice touch.   We were greeted by the host and promptly shown to our table. Despite the Italianate menu and decor, many of the specials show French, Spanish, and American influences, which our server, Carlos, recited a list of specials consisting of several appetizers and entrees besides the listed special page with the regular menu being à la carte at a decent price.   For starters, we decided on Calamari Fritti, Half Shell Blue Point Oysters, and Beet Salad. For our main meal, we opted for Vitello Marsala, Chicken Parmigiano, Linguini alla Vongole, Ravioli alla Sergio, Fettuccini Bolognese, and Rigatoni Sicilianao. We even saved room for desserts: Churros, Crème Brûlée with some coconut shavings, and Pistachio Cake   One could see the delight in the faces of the patrons who ordered when their food was set before them. We were delighted as well, the flavors melting perfectly in every sweet, savory, salty bite. The food was amazingly delicious, cooked to perfection with fresh ingredients from appetizers to dessert, beautifully presented, and service never rushed.   The owner, Adriana, managed to visit our table to exchange a few words, and her staff was very attentive.     We enjoyed spending time with our friends, which we can continue to recommend this place. read more

Came by for an early Friday night dinner at around 5:30 for an early Father's Day celebration after our first choice restaurant was unfortunately closed for an event. This is everything we ordered: -Calamari, Tuscan style (hot cherry peppers and garlic white wine sauce) - I thought the sauce would be on the side but the flavor was pretty good. I liked the hot cherry peppers but they were really spicy after a couple. Since they are pickled, it does make the sauce a bit tart so if you don't like that, this isn't for you. I still prefer the classic calamari with marinara sauce on the side -Arugula Salad (arugula topped with shaved parmesan cheese and balsamic dressing) - nothing special, but we just needed some greens to balance out all of the carbs we were about to eat -Spaghetti Alla Carbonara (spaghetti served with pancetta and onions in a cream sauce) - pretty good. I appreciate the fact that it doesn't come served with peas -Salmon with gnocchi in a pesto sauce - the fish was dry -Stuffed Grouper (grouper stuff with topped with cherry tomatoes, capers, garlic, white wine lemon sauce over risotto) - the grouper had a frozen fish taste to it and I didn't really taste the crab meat. Maybe they mixed too much breadcrumbs with it. The risotto was actually pretty good -Surf and turf - I believe this was a special. It came with two pieces of skirt steak, two shrimp, and one Italian sausage over mashed potatoes. At $50, this was totally not worth it. Also, I don't know what they marinated the steak with but it smelled sour and not very appetizing -Tiramisu - basic -Coconut tart - not bad since it was not too sweet, but also tasted like it could have came from Costco Service was good. Our waiter was nice, and attentive - probably because we ordered so much food. But overall, the food was fine and just not worth it for the price. I don't mind paying more for something that's higher quality, but this wasn't it. Sergio's Missione is your typical old school Jersey Italian restaurant with mediocre food and NYC prices - or actually even higher. Don't think I'll be back. Tip - BYOB read more

Honestly - I'm sorry to be the sore thumb that sticks out with my review, but my experience at Sergio's Missione was not as pleasant as the latest reviews for the establishment. Let's start off with the positives - the decor / atmosphere is eclectic and definitely leaves an impression. The location also has ample parking, so no need to fight for a spot. Lastly, it's BYOB - so don't forget to bring your favorite bottle! Negatives - Let's start at the beginning, our waiter was rude and judged our choice for dinner : it's almost as if he really needed us to eat something off of the lengthy specials menu. One thing I think he also didn't care for is some nights my husband and I like to split a portion of dinner and this was one of those nights. Personally I can't eat a plate of pasta by myself, it's usually too much. After trying to push us to try to order more and specifically off the specials, he pretty much disappeared. I had to ask the bus boys for water and the check, so rude. He didn't even check on us once. Moving onto food, when we were seated we were given some spicy marinated olives, personally the taste wasn't there for me. It wasn't the spice it was the taste of the olives themselves - almost as if they had gone bad. My husband and I ordered Breaded Chicken and Penne Alla Vodka - other reviewers raved about their sauce so I thought I was in for a treat. Quantity is reasonable considering the price is not at the lower end for sure. Until one day we convinced few friends to have dinner together in this place. 6 of us came, and we got the same amount of bread as when tye 2 of us came. We asked for more bread probably 3 times, and everytime it came, it was the same amount of bread. Everyone of us ordered a meal. All went good, except at the end we were charged for extra bread. I just really hate places that nitpick on this kind of thing. There are definitely other places that will be happilly take our 300-400 dollars and give us bread for free. read more

We topped it off with the "Oh My God" dessert which was a warmed brownie cheesecake with vanilla ice cream - HIGHLY recommend!! We left the dinner with very full bellies and had a great night all around. THEN we discover our car battery died while we were dining! Ugh, how annoying ‍ Lo and behold, the restaurant owner Adriana comes out to our rescue and proceeds to bring her car around to ours, and pulls jumper cables out of nowhere, to help jump us! Even though our battery was beyond repair, she invited us back into the restaurant for a glass of wine and a pistachio cake to share while we waited for AAA to come rescue us. (And oh my gosh... that pistachio cake is not to miss!!) The warmth, friendliness, and overall reassurance we felt from Adriana and her team were priceless. Everything about this place was phenomenal! The moment you walk in the ambience of the place was so welcoming and decorated very nicely. We tried a couple different appetizers which was bruschetta, fried oysters, burrata and prosciutto, asparagus milanese and fried calamari (both regular and spicy). ALL GREAT! This was even the first place I ever tried fried oysters and now im hooked! For dinner I got the duck breast which was cooked perfectly and even had a nice mango cabbage salad to go with it. The service was excellent, all the staff was super nice and attentive plus the owner always goes above and beyond for his guests which makes the visit even more amazing! First, let me say, I am NOT a risotto girl but, Sergio's has forever changed me. The platter came with a mushroom risotto - it was creamy and earthy. With it came chorizo, skirt steak and shrimp. Everything was cooked perfectly and the skirt steak was like butter. This platter was perfectly paired, this isn't one bad thing to say about it. If you like this combination of food, you cannot go wrong. 2. My fiance' ordered the veal prepared like their pork chop since they were out of it. There were bits of sausage in it - everything melted in your mouth. Part of me was jealous I didn't order that but then again, after the main course I had, there was no losing. The veal was so tender and juicy - it just doesn't get any better! Dessert: Normally we don't do dessert however, it was calling our name! The NY Style cheesecake, the crust the cream of the cake, the drizzle of raspberry, just delicious. This is not our first time dining here however, the last time was far too long ago. We will be making Sergio's part of our regular rotation again. The atmosphere, the staff, everything, just perfection. We were so bummed the first establishment we went to didn't work out for us but after this meal, there was nothing to cry about except it being over. I cannot wait to go back - cannot! Very friendly Owner/hostess and Waiter. I tried their "Italian Surf & Turf" (Veal Scallopini and Shrimp) in a wine sauce and it was tasty. My friend liked her Lasagna very much! Happened to find this restaurant after doing a search for outdoor Italian dining in Bergen County. Was a great treat. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. It is BYOB and upon seating us noted we had white wine an bright us an ice bucket. I started off with the Burrata and ceviche. Both were delicious. As a main course I had the zuppa di pesce and my husband had the skirt steak. The portions are huge and very flavor. We ended our dinner with an espresso w/a shot of sambuca and a tartufo.
