From initial booking through the entire event, the staff made us feel welcome and taken care of. My entire family commented on how good the food was and a lot of them took the food they couldn't finish home so they could enjoy it later. The chicken francaise, veal parm, and sole oreganato were all big hits. Additionally, the service was outstanding. Even with a second large group there, our waiter Mark was incredibly attentive and we never waited for anything. He let us dictate the time of service and we never felt rushed. Our guests were so impressed by the food and service a lot of them said they would come back on their own for dinner. I've visited Risotto House a couple of times and it never disappoints. It can get pretty busy around dinnertime, so I highly recommend making a reservation. The service is always fantastic and the staff are very attentive to all diners. The restaurant is BYOB, so it's best to arrive with a bottle of wine as a companion to the delicious food. Had a Repast lunch at the Risotto house for 40 people - it was excellent, the food, the service and price, BYOB and a 4 minute walk from Corpus Christi church. The best choices on this visit, the risotto with asparagus, chicken parm, Veal saltimboca and the Sole oreganata. They close the whole place from 12-4, it fit 40 with plenty of room. We had a reservation for a party of 10 following funeral services--an important and emotional day for our family. Shockingly, about 30 minutes before the service ended, we found out our reservation had been canceled without notice. The restaurant never contacted us. We only learned this because we called to confirm before heading over. When we asked why, we were told it was due to a communion party scheduled at the same time. No apology or explanation was offered beyond, "The owner's son, who handles reservations, didn't follow up." We asked to speak with the owner or a manager--neither was available. The employee we spoke with was helpful and polite, but unfortunately, that doesn't make up for how unprofessional and inconsiderate this situation was. I came on Father's Day on June 16, 2024 for lunch. I was expecting to get lunch/brunch menu, however we were given a pre set menu. That's fine and I have no problem with limited menu. The big issue was that all the prices for every appetizer and main course was $5-$8 or more. I ordered Capri salad which on regular lunch menu is $8.95 but I was charged for burrata salad $14.95. Small Caesar on a regular lunch menu is $4.95, I was charged $8.95. Increasing prices like this is unacceptable and disgusting! I will never come to this restaurant again. There's no good reason to hike up prices for items that you serve with same portions on a non holiday lunch menu because it's Father's Day! I have never experienced this in any restaurant on any holiday! If it's pre fix menu, I'm informed, if prices changed I'm informed. I put marinara sauce on it and it sat on the top due to the burnt and hard bread. It came al dente like I asked, in a nice abundant portion, fit for 3 people! The rice was cooked well and the dish was very flavorful, not too much saffron. A small detail was that not all of the asparagus was chopped the same, leaving small pieces mixed with big pieces. But this is forgivable. I would say their menu entrees and evening specials are more impressive than their regular appetizer menu selections, which are just fine but nothing out-of-the-ordinary. On our latest visit, the attentive waiter recommended my dish when I learned that my first choice was no longer available. The selection was very good - a chicken rollatini stuffed with hot sausage, cheese and herbs in a Madeira wine sauce. Accompanied with a nice serving of zucchini risotto, it was delicious! This place is fantastic! It's quite a small restaurant and I'm not sure how it gets during dinner hours, but I'm sure any wait at all would be worth it. Attended bridal shower mid afternoon on a Sunday. Small seating area but large enough for a small shower. The risotto itself was great, however the ceaser salad was not good at all. I know that cesear dressing usually contains anchovies but the taste was extremely overbearing. The entree was a chicken dish and it was just okay. Nothing too great. The restaurant wasn't full, so I was able to have a pleasant conversation with the person I was dining with. We shared a mushroom risotto as an appetizer. The bowl was full with large mushrooms and risotto. It was very tasty and the risotto was cooked well. For dinner I had the appetizer seafood salad! This was very fresh and plentiful. I couldn't believe this was an appetizer size... there must have been 12-15 mussels, squid, scallops and two large shrimp with lemon and olive oil. It was delicious!! I have been to the Rutherford location and now there is one in Hasbrouck Heights adding to its main Boulevard. Risotto House is not the best option for an overly fancy Italian dining experience. The dining room is a bit small and plain, but the food is the real reason to go. The meal starts off with free bread and olives. I ordered a salad for $7 and I received a decent portion. My sister ordered one of the "specials" appetizers, the burrata. If they have the burrata when you are there you should definitely order it. I tasted it and it was better than burrata I've had at more expensive eateries. My salmon dinner was reasonable at $17 and came with shrimp, mushrooms, veggies, and mashed potatoes. The food was incredible. I love pappardelle pasta so I was so happy to see it on the specials menu. I actually asked if they could alter the special and got seafood with vodka sauce Amazing. That being said. I made a 7:30 reservation for my boyfriend's mom's birthday and they were definitely busier than expected and I've worked in the service industry so I'm very understanding of that. People got seated before us with a party or 4 with no reservation over our party of 5. Which I also understand because a 4 top is easier. Every time the manager apologized I understood.
