Service was great but food was sub par. Lobster bisque was watery and salty. Ordered mahi mahi over risotto with champagne sauce. Dish was dry and overcooked. Probably frozen. Due Fratelli was a great meal and parking was a bit difficult to find as it's limited street parking or paid parking down by the train station. Upon walking in we noticed the restaurant had a very musty smell from all the rain the past few days. We came during their 3-6pm which is their early bird special pricing which you can't beat. We made a reservation for a Friday but it was pretty empty. They are byob and there is sooo much food you don't need wine. We started off with clams oreganta, fried calamari, eggplant rollatini and the mozzarella curoza. All of the appetizers are reduced portions so one person can easily finish each one. Next you choose from either soup or salad. I ordered the lobster and shrimp bisque. Definitely was morning special and there was no chunks of lobster of shrimp found in any of the bisques. The salad was delicious and a good portion as I ended up eating most of my boyfriend's plate. Entrees we all ordered a variety of things. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana which was served with spaghetti and I was able to easily eat the entire dish. The chicken Brianna was absolutely delicious as my boyfriend ordered it without mushrooms and the lemon wine sauce was divine on the chicken cutlet. The rest of our party ordered the braised beef special, chicken de la casa, chicken Brianna with mushrooms, and chicken Florentino. Everyone loved the food and portion sizes. You even get a dessert included in the early bird special and they have a huge selection of desserts to choose from. The cheesecake was good although the crust was a big soggy. The chocolate temptation cake was great but could do without the chocolate syrup drizzle. I would definitely come back if I'm in the area as it was a great portion and value for the price. read more

If you want a quaint amazing Italian restaurant for early bird dining then Due Fratelli in Hawthorne is the place to go to. The price can't be beat for what you get!! We came here for "early dining" on Wednesday at 4. We were the first guests to arrive for dinner. Had a great table for four in the corner. Jasmine our waitress was phenomenal telling us everything we needed to know besides the normal everyday "early bird" specials there were plenty more "specials" that were offered to us. We all started with an appetizer, I had the calamari, my stepmother had the mussels in garlic butter bsauce& my father had the mozzarella curoza. Everything was excellent. Not huge portions but nice size for one person. My father & I had the salad which was very nice and crisp while my stepmother had the leek soup which she said was delicious. At this point people started to trickle in a little at first but by the time we got our entrees the place was packed!! They had a strolling guitar player playing lovely music for the crowd. I had the Veal Milanese nice and tender with a touch of drizzled balsamic. My step mother had the Brazino in a butter garlic sauce over black squid ink spaghetti. My dad had the Bucatini with scallops & shrimp. Again everything was delicious and melted in our mouths. For dessert I had the Cannoli and my parents had the coconut dream cake ~ light and spongy drizzled with caramel sauce with whip cream. By the time we left there were no seats left and everyone was talking and enjoying their meals. It was pretty loud and very busy when we left which I love, it's always great to see a neighborhood place receive the attention it deserves. A nice American Italian restaurant. The day I went there was a christening and our group was seated in the same room. It was very loud. Aside from that the food was tasty, sizeable portions and the servers were polite but a bit understaffed given the party at the same time. Don't judge the green awning or lack of appearance from the outside. The food here is outstanding. The spicy clams are old Italy flavors with thin slices of garlic. Just amazing. Had a surprise birthday party here for my sister in law. The staff, including Brianna and Jasmine were fantastic. They were so accommodating with our requests and the service and food were on point! We were able to arrive early to decorate our party area that already looked very nice without our decorations. We picked off their standard party menu but they had no problem tweaking it to our requests. Last minute requests for pasta and butter for kids was no problem. Just another non Italian cook trying to pass as a real Italian restaurant. Well I say pass on this place. First time there on Thursday night, will be the last time too. Ordered the stuffed mushrooms, stuffed with seafood. I cut a piece of mushroom and when I brought it to my mouth, I had to put it right back into the plate. The smell of rotten fish made me sick. I sent them back and ordered the Mozz. carozza, this carozza was all bread no cheese. And the final straw was the Flounder, the smell of bad fish was overwhelming, sent that back too. They will do everything they can to make sure your meal is fabulous. All the meals we have had have been great. The portions are generous and the prices are super reasonable. For the most reasonably priced Italian restaurant we've been to , I highly recommend Due Fratelli. We only had one appetizer which was the Fried Calamari which was excellent. For our entree we had : Italian Wrap , Eggplant Parmigiana, Spaghetti and Meatballs, Veal Piccata, Chicken Parmigiana, Veal Salvational, Chicken Mediterranean, Chicken Scarpariello . We had my husbands retirement dinner there and although the food was good, the service was awful. Unless I got up to find someone, the wait staff did not come over to the table to see if we needed anything the entire time. I setup a preset menu to make things easier, but that didn't help. I had to find someone to ask about getting our appetizers, then again for our dinner order, then again to bring out our cake. The package also included coffee and tea, which we didn't get and they wait staff never asked anyone if they wanted any. We were there from 5:00 - 8:00, and had some small grandchildren with us. We had a baby shower for my daughter here yesterday. Met with Brianna over the summer, and all went as we planned. Room was so cozy, and food was delicious. We had mussels on the buffet table, and they were clean, with no sand. Eggplant is fabulous Staff is very accommodating. Bathrooms are clean. Price is great too. Highly recommend.
