A true Italian deli. Incredible selections of ravioli made in house. Sausage and peppers, fresh mozzarella cheese. I loved this place.

Amazing deli and pasta shop with charm and ambience of the old days when Sicilian delis like these were the norm across America's urban scene. Nestled in an old world-like, half Sicilian half Albanian neighborhood, right across from the Catholic Church of Our Lady of Montevergine, the entire experience took us pleasantly back in time ... salumeria along the wall, aged provolone hanging from rope, and just about every handmade delicacy you could imagine.....and some new ones we hadn't seen before... Then there's .... the bread..... the bread.... Nowhere in America is there bread like this. This is the real deal (NOT the chain supermarkets--you know who you are) that offer supposedly "Italian" or "French" bread with marshmallow softness attributed to all the preservatives and polysorbate 80. No Signore, this bread contains all the goodness of that crispy crunchy exterior with pure angelic cloud interior that melts in your mouth! Bread this good can be eaten as dessert... (if there aren't any cannolis around).... Yeah they got those here too... We couldn't decide, and we were running late so we ended up grabbing a loaf of semolina bread just in from the oven and a container of Sicilian olives (with pits! Don't waste my time with pitted olives that taste like salted cardboard). Could say more but why? Veni e guarda (look and see for yourself)... Highly recommended. We'll be back! Fun Fact: Lodi is the home to two Italian-American institutions worth celebrating... Mr. Anzalone (who turns 70 in June of 2025!) and Vitamia (nipping at his heels with about 60 years of being in the biz). I've made my way here now a few times and for whatever reason - Siri will only get me to the general area but just won't 'accept' Vitamia's specific/actual address. (I know I've 'arrived' when I see the crisscrossing of American and Italian flags at the start-and-end of the blocks denoting a very little Little Italy portion of the town.) And don't get me started on how jacked the entire length of Harrison Avenue is - causing my poor car's suspension and axle to suffer - or how much gas I usually waste when continually circling the block looking for a (legal) parking spot. Crankiness aside... for a small 'basic' deli they sure do pack a punch. An incredible selection of legit (crunchy) breads, a slew of prepared platters and meals in the refrigerated cases, all sorts of goodies hanging from hooks and then there's the freezer with an absurd amount of specialty ravioli, tortellini, tortelloni, mezzelune, cappelletti, gigante, agnolotti, fagottini... Two guys behind the counter (casually speaking Italian to each other) are able to keep up with all the foot traffic (that never seems to let up) and a few guys manning the ovens in the back that are continually refilling the metal bins by the cash register. (With 800 days of Duolingo under my belt I was tempted to try, "È delizioso. Mi dai la ricetta?" when leaving but flaked out and just went with, "Grazie mille!" which... fell flat.) Parking (as mentioned before) stinks. For every item I've tried and loved (stuffed breads, stuffed pastas) there's been a few that were major disappointments, unfortunately. Their pricing is a tad too rough on my wallet. On a prior visit I dropped over $80 and I made a mental not to not do that again. Most recent visit? Over $100. So, yeah... that's not good. What a GEM. My husband grabbed several items from here. He shared how lovely the store and staff were. Tried their mushroom ravioli and they were SO flavorful and very stuffed. I will be shocked to see how delectable their jumbo would be. Their pink sauce smelled and tasted so fresh I thought the sausage bread was ok, but my husband enjoyed it. The size was VERY generous. While their products are very good, I will not return again. As they added up the many items that I was purchasing, the total did not seem right to me. So I asked to look at the bill before paying and saw that the charges for the boxes of ravioli and a couple of other items was higher than the price tags at the refrigerator cases by a dollar or two each. when I pointed that out they said, oh we were going to change the prices on the items but he must have forgotten. He balked at my insisting that they re-do the bill and honor their posted prices. Watch your bill before paying. read more

My family did a culinary tour of New Jersey on Father's Day morning. We started at Vitamia and it was a great place to kick things off! Great old school vibe, amazing selection! We selected 12 ravioli (cheese), a pound of penne, and a small container of their vodka sauce. There was so much more in the store that I wanted to grab but I showed some discipline. The ravioli were fantastic, perfect pasta texture with a sublime filling. They went really well with the vodka sauce. The vodka sauce is also perfectly flavorful and a great consistency. The small container was enough for the ravioli and the wonderfully al dente fresh penne. (Plus some bread dipping) Vitamia is a great Italian pasta shop, with plenty more to offer! Located at the heart of Lodi's Little Italy in NJ, this establishment is only a few minutes from the house and dropped by during lunch as I was in the mood of some fresh Italian semolina bread and it didn't disappoint. Upon arrival and being a weekday , there was only a customer in front of me as a minimum of 4 customers allowed at a time limit. While there I also picked up some rice balls (arancini) and potato coquettes. However this place is famous for their home made raviolis, sauce and sausage bread. The prices are a bit high, but the the food is worth it. The store itself was brightly lit and extremely clean. If you are in the area, it's worth a visit and it's only street parking. read more

COVID REVIEW: well worth the wait in the line. they take cards. they allow 2 people in the store at a time. I highly suggest their rice balls! they are amazing. they even have veggie friendly ones. Went this morning when they opened (Sunday 1/24/2021). The sign said one customer at a time but it was freezing out and there was 4 of us so we all waited inside away from everyone. Already the guy behind the counter had an attitude. "NEXT!!!" We were like alright we've never been here before give us a chance take the people behind us. Again "NEXT, I DONT CARE WHO'S NEXT. Vitamia makes some very good salads, breads, and hot foods but the price is quite strap. Cheaper than Latona's who should be imprisoned for their prices but I would rather pay higher prices for good food than lower prices for garbage. read more

Had to make a stop at Vita Mia this morning for some Italian specialty food and dessert for Sunday. I just discovered this place about four months ago and it's awesome . It is carry out only . Expect lines day before most holidays. Stuffed breads are great and priced at about $9. Boxed ravioli is all homemade and $6. The lobster tail desserts are to-die-for and huge! Boxed ravioli is priced a bit on the high side , but hey , where else can you get all kinds of homemade pastas. The stuff in the case looked great as well ....sliced eggplant parm, chicken parm, chicken franchese, and homemade fresh mozzarella . Parking is on the street only and sometimes difficult . Store is fairly small , but is loaded with lots of good stuff. They accept credit cards as well and they don't complain about paying with card, like some other specialty stores do. read more

I have also tried some of their pasta dishes and chicken which they weigh by the pound so can get a bit pricey. Nice owners and all, but, usually buying my fresh pasta from NYC, i.e. Eataly, Rana, etc., Vitamia's pasta doesn't really compare. Much thicker and more doughy than the premiere places mentioned above. Good in a pinch, but would definitely recommend a visit to Eataly, as theirs is the best I've tried to date. read more

These brothers are the best!!! I have been going to Vitamia for 36 years, the food, the service, the culture is the ultimate. I moved to Arizona and I make it a point to visit my friends Paulie, Joseph and Robert. I have been trying to get them to open a store in Phoenix. This is an awesome spot for any Italian fan. This is a real throwback to an Italian specialty shop. They have a huge selection of meats and cheeses and tons of prepared foods. I got a standard Italian sandwich with ham, salami, and prosciutto, with a very nice mild but nutty provolone cheese and a Italian vinaigrette. I recently went back to try their stuffed breads which was amazing. It was gooing with melted cheese, fresh spinach and delicious chicken, Their prepared ravioli is also amazing.
