Stuffed cabbage (2), potatoes with gravy and cucumber salad. Big enough for 2. One of the best stuffed cabbages I had ever.

Who would have thought I needed polish food in my life and stomach. Tiny polish supermarket with all things polish. In back there's a cold cuts and hot food counter. Got lunch, barely, from kind ladies who spoke polish. Big table with amazing looking food. That said, don't look for a lot of veggies or healthy dishes, think meat and potatoes. Got stuffed cabbage, potatoes with gravy and cucumber salad. Could not eat more than 1/2, and I though I was hungry. Huge servings at decent prices of deliciousness. Saw a lot there that perked my interest. No dining area, strictly pickup only. Wallington DMV, you are now DMV of choice from now on.

You have to appreciate bratek for what it is - basically a Polish shoprite stuffed into a 1,000 sq ft space. First off - the parking is absolutely atrocious. These people will murder for a spot. Beware. Next, it's kind of difficult to social distance here but I made do. The aisles are absolutely tiny but FILLED with Polish goodies. Anything from, chocolates to jams to mustards to Polish ketchup, yogurt, anchovies. You name it, they have it. Then they have a whole deli section but I didn't dare go there because you really have to speak Polish to get by here. They also have a little bakery. A small section of prepared and packaged foods can also be found here. I got the chicken gyro salad and it was the best thing I bought. Delicious. This is also where you'll find the perogies and packages sauerkraut and really a ton of other goodies. The holy grail is there hot food bar. The only problem is trying to communicate with the ladies behind it. They get the point after a while but it's definitely hard to communicate. I got the chicken which was just ok but a friend that frequents here told me they have different things every day. I'll definitely try it out again on a different day, I'm told they have flounder, salmon and a ton of other options of different days. Worth the trip. Definitely be prepared for the language barrier. If you have a Polish friend - bring them!

As many reviewers mentioned, no one bothered to acknowledge us when we arrived, so I flagged down a waitress who said we could sit whenever we want. We chose to sit in the airier covered outdoor area (which isn't exposed to the elements so is perfectly temperate even in cold weather). There were no instructions on how to order either - this seems like a basic customer service fail: is it that hard to slap up signage explaining 1-2-3, or for someone (anyone!) to greet you and ask if this is your first time here and walk you through the process? Anyway, I'm glad I read the reviews and checked out what we wanted to order beforehand, and asked questions at the cashier. Sure, it's not that hard, but one really shouldn't have to actively track down multiple staff for directions on where to go or how to order at a restaurant. The deal is: decide which meat(s) you want from the poster (there is no menu), place your order (sold by the pound) with the cashier, pay, go to your table, and a server will bring the food to you when it's ready. The meat is (at current writing) $45/lb with unlimited sides and soft drinks. We ordered 1 lb each of beef brisket and lamb shank (1 lb = 2 shanks), which was the perfect amount of food for us 2 hungry adults, 2 teens of modest appetite, and a toddler of negligible appetite. The meat is simply seasoned (Arab bbq style) and came out lukewarm, but is off-the-bone tender and we enjoyed them with the variety of sauces. There are four types of sides: cucumber & tomato salad (good), spring mix, saffron rice (fine but my toddler loved this), and mashed potatoes (bland). It is a well-balanced meal, not too heavy. The chefs are friendly and we watched one film a demo almost certainly for social media. He even let us taste some of what he was seasoning, though there were no pyrotechnics as I had hoped from seeing some of the reels. The service wasn't bad - not terribly proactive but not non-existent either, and we always received what we requested. They could do better with customer guidance, but now that I know what's up I'd come back for the food and would like to try some other meats next time. Meat Moot has many franchises across the Middle East and Turkey, and NJ is one of only 3 locations in the US (the other 2 being in the Midwest). Street parking only.

That plan died instantly. We had just gone to Rocco's Steakhouse yesterday for steak... so naturally, we decided to go out for steak again. Because balance. Four of us rolled out like we had a reservation with destiny. We started strong: Grilled bacon with peanut butter and jalapeño. My coworkers loved it. I personally don't believe peanuts belong anywhere near my bacon, but I respected the chaos. Massive cocktail shrimp with three sauces--we split those like civilized people. Cobb salad, for health. Obviously. Then came: Dry-aged porterhouse meatballs with gorgonzola crema and black garlic. Good--but in my world, meatballs belong in a proper red sauce. I'm traditional like that. Main event: Bone-in dry-aged prime sirloin. Delicious. Tuscan-style, not drowning in butter. Ordered medium rare... received "this cow has a LinkedIn profile." Sides absolutely stole the show: The Quality Potato (elite) Gnocchi & cheese (life-changing) Brussels sprouts (so we can keep pretending we're making good choices) Dessert:Carrot cake ice cream slice + espresso. Because at this point, why stop? Service was amazing--our waitress and busboy were so engaging they even brought us extra cookies. I felt seen. The exposed concrete, Edison bulbs, and high ceilings give it that downtown-meets-Midtown vibe that somehow still feels special, even after all these years. We ordered the tomahawk for the table, and honestly... it was a little smaller than I expected. Still perfectly cooked, just more "cute" than over-the-top. But the real stars: Definitely the bacon with jalapeño peanut butter jam so addictive, sweet and spicy all at once. I come back just for that. And the sides are everything. The mac & cheese is insanely creamy and comforting, while the Brussels sprouts are crispy, perfectly seasoned, and actually make vegetables feel fun. Overall, it's a steakhouse that gets it right, classic, chic, and reliable, but with just enough creativity to keep it interesting. Definitely a must-visit when you're in NYC and want a little luxe without feeling stuffy. I bring my parents here!

Then, the balls are flung onto a tray in neat rows and dunked in oil heated to 375 degrees. After each Pączki cools, it is sprinkled with powdered sugar or slathered in glaze, leaving a smooth, rounded exterior and a tiny pocket of air between the fruit and dough. Our friend has informed us that he shops at this establishment located off River Drive in Garfield. Upon arriving, there were shoppers lined up by the deli next to the bakery, and the sighting of these donuts made me smile. These came in 2 flavors: raspberry jelly, and rose hips, or thick prune-and-apple lekvar jam. We decided on three each at $1.50. These were freshly made and hit the spot.

We also ordered a matzoh ball soup because I've never had it before. But the second I saw them microwave it in a plastic container, I knew I had made a mistake. It was basically just a matzoh ball in very salty chicken bouillon water. I'm sad that was my first matzoh ball soup experience but am not deterred from finding a real one elsewhere. Based on my previous visit and this one, it seems like you should just stick to a classic pastrami sandwich. It's big enough to share between two people. Next time, I'd like to dine in and eat it fresh. The sandwiches also come with a bunch of pickles, which was nice. Tip #1 - there is a parking lot but because there are so many stores and it's next to Bratek Deli, it's a nightmare. It did also happen to be Good Friday, so maybe that made it worse? I don't remember it being that bad the first time around. Tip #2 - I called ahead to place my order but still had to wait 15 minutes extra after the quoted time. They prioritize walk-in customers, so you might as well just order in store.

We arrived on a Saturday the place was absolutely packed but we were seated within about 5 minutes. We were seated right near the smokers and it was so cool to watch them prepare each dish. We ordered the Buffalo smoked chicken wings and Baba-Ghanoj for appetizers. The chicken wings were so tender that as you picked them up the meat literally fell off the bone! The sauce was subtle but had a nice Buffalo kick at the end. The baba-ghanoj was served cold and was perfect with a little sprinkle of salt. The fresh pitas paired perfectly with it. I'm glad I did my research on this spot as everyone recommended the fresh mint lemonade. Wow amazing and refreshing I love that it came out as a slushy like consistency. I could easily drink them all day and they're probably amazing to eat outside in the warmer months and enjoy. We each ordered the meat platters in 1lb portions which are served with fresh smoked rice that is so good and filling. I wanted the beef shank but sadly they were out and ordered the smoked beef short rib. They served everything on a platter for us which the presentation I must say is outstanding . My boyfriend ordered the smoked brisket and it was so tender and flavorful he kept saying "it's terrible you won't like it because he didn't want to share it at all LOL". We had no room for dessert but I cannot wait to return for our next dinner date night! I would definitely give it 4/5 stars. Nothing was terrible the only complaints I had is once we were seated and our order was taken our server asked if we want appetizers first which we said yes and everything came out at once. Which is fine not terrible just our table was packed and hard to eat. Additionally once our food came out it was hard to get anyone's attention for more drinks but it was no too much of an issue that it ruined the night as they were definitely way too busy and seemed to be short staffed. I definitely want to return and check out the rest of their menu. I highly recommend making the trip to Kanoon!
