The place itself is not the prettiest to sit at but the food is amazing. The meat is really moist. Falls off the bone. They also just walk around giving free corn on the cob. Love it. Only problem is that it is a bit on the expensive side and the prices on the menu are based on per pound whch can be easily missed.

Beef on beef on beef! Great spot to enjoy a one of a kind meal. This Middle Eastern spot also caters to be a BBQ joint by specializing in a unique technique for cooking beef ribs. The rib itself comes out tender and juicy with lots of sauces on the side to dip in... sooooo yummy! Everything here was delicious, even their mint lemonade. The appetizers were tasty as well, and plenty of pita bread to go with it. Service was pleasant and server was always around to accommodate. However, I was not a fan of the buffalo wings... just did not do it for me. Other than that, I would come for the ribs and apps. Parking lot is small, and street parking is available.

Had a great lunch here. The food is a little on the pricey side (especially for lunch), but its delicious. It was fairly empty when we dined there, and the food took a while to come out... I think around 30-40min. They did bring out some complimentary appetizers while we waited, including a fairly large bowl of hummus, so that was nice. The food itself was amazing. I'm really into bbq, and I thought that the quality of the smoked meat here was legit. Very tender (especially the beef ribs). And the rubs were really flavorful. Each dish came with a few different sauces. Portions are fairly large so we had leftovers. Note that they do not serve tap water, so its bottle water or drinks only. We ordered a mint drink which was delicious, although a little expensive for what it was. Also they do have a credit card fee. Staff was very friendly. Multiple people came to make sure we were all set. Parking lot is on the small side, but I think there is street parking too.

I had a good friend recommend this restaurant to me and said that the dining experience would be pretty fantastic. And so, I decided to make my way Kanoon to try out some of their middle Eastern cuisine. When I arrived to the location of the restaurant, I found it pretty difficult to find parking, but with a little bit of patience, I was able to find a parking spot little over a block away. Please note that this restaurant has very limited parking in its small parking lot. And that also this is a very popular place for families and gets pretty busy during typical service hours. But that should not deter you from visiting this establishment! Anyway, let's talk about the restaurant's service and food. Upon entering the restaurant, me and my companion were greeted happily at the door, with the most wonderful, smiling host. After exchanging pleasantries, we were ushered to our table given menus and our drink orders taken. After reviewing the menu, we were decided on what we were going to have for appetizers and for our main course. When our waiter came back with our drinks, he also brought back some complementary salads and a basket of pita bread. After happily receiving our meal order, the waiter was kind enough to give us some suggestions on the smoked rice dishes that were available. And so we chose to add both of the rice options that were available to our meal just to try them out. So, as we waited for our entrées to arrive, we started enjoyed our salad and babaghanoush, and then all the sudden the lights dimmed in the restaurant and music started playing. It was a freaking pirate technic show that started behind the barbecue pit! At first, it caught me off guard, but then I started getting into it. As you well know the whole restaurant pulled out their phones and started recording the scene. I just found this to be an opportunity to devour most of the babaghanoush while my companion was distracted! Anyway, during the show our entrées had arrived and it was time to dig in! Let me tell you, I found all the food to be delicious. This style of barbecue meats is unreal and definitely worth trying. Both the Beef short ribs shank was so tender and falling off the bones. The combination of the barbecued meats and the smoked rice was phenomenal. I highly recommend that you guys go check this place out. Your taste buds will thank you for the experience. Now go jump in your car and head to Kanoon! Don't forget to get there early because the place gets packed during dinner service. Enjoy!

this is definitely a great spot to visit for the first time, especially if you're a meat lover. it's pretty tight in here & a lot smaller than i imagined, at least from what i expected post all the ig food reviews. they don't take reservations & operate on a first come first serve basis, but the food comes out pretty quick. my table had the ribs & i had chicken chops! delicious, but could've used more seasoning. i think that's the only reason why i wouldn't come back, i genuinely do think the food needed a little bit more seasoning. the hummus on the other hand was very yummy & not underseasoned. other than that, the manager & staff were really kind & attentive & i would recommend this place to anyone who has not been here.

There is no shortage of worthy Middle Eastern restaurants sprinkled throughout northern New Jersey, from mom-and-pop falafel joints to white-tablecloth establishments, but few offer quite the same array of offbeat charms as Kanoon family Palestine restaurant. Kanoon restaurant is one of its unique kind in the north east of USA with its authenticity especially in providing fresh daily cuts of Meats. Start with the humble décor: in a long rectangular room with rustic floors are tightly packed comfortable booths and tables with a flare of ambiance if you just walked into a quaint place in the south. Inside features a cow wall mount which is the symbol and hallmark of everything on the menu. While a row of large windows faces the street on one side, and the low lighting in the evenings plays well off the stone-walls and the families making their way inside. My fiancé and I had arrived here about around after Iftar time and were unaware of the reservation policy. The manager had politely told us to come back at 8:30 and he would gladly seat us. He generously gave us dates and water. Looking around the crowd, I could tell from the constant dishes going in and out of the kitchen, crowds laughing and enjoying their moment as they were breaking their fast that we would be back shortly. The night started with us ordering their Ramadan special, two people for 100.00 with the choice of two meats along with sides and appetizers and a lovely in-house tamarind juice. Pitas come warmed in plastic bags; tons of sauces that come with your choice of meat-- but the food is fresh, robust and affordable, and the service low-key and friendly. Kick things off with some creamy hummus, baba ganoush, Tabbouleh Salad. Followed by our lamb chops and ribs. Its spicy, oily pleasures contrast splendidly with the smokiness of the meat, salad, which is simply dressed with parsley, along with fresh hummus! It's a knockout. There's a wide assortment of desserts, some homemade -- highlighted by cakes and an uncommonly delicious flavors. Finally the ambiance and customers are eclectic filled with Muslims, non, black, Arab and Hispanic and white. I was comfortable dining in at a Muslim restaurant without the stares from my fiancé and The hospitality from checking in on us to offering us a smile and some additional items for the table was thoughtful!

Came here for a guys night recently and it did not disappoint! Note the website says BYO but they do not allow alcohol inside in case you were thinking of bringing a bottle. The mint lemonade is absolutely fantastic and the waiters kept bringing it out to all the tables so we knew we made the right decision in ordering it. Crisp and refreshing! Their hummus has got to be some of the best I've ever tasted. Make sure to order as an appetizer..we also ordered the sausages which pretty good as well. The wings were so garlicky and flavorful and so I'd recommend that as well. For the mains we had the lamp chops, smoked meat platter, the mixed grill, and a pound of the brisket. They were all delicious, except for the brisket. I thought it was a bit dry for my taste but not terrible just not as good as the other dishes. They also put on a show throughout the night with flames from their torch so that was quite fun too. Overall I'd recommend!

PROS: this place blew my MIND! The food was amazing! Good menu variety, prices are good, food is fresh and tasted good, had a great presentation on the plate, came to us fast. The service was extremely attentive and very nice. Atmosphere is also very very nice! CONS: very small parking lot that gets packed easily. One person bathroom which causes a line. Also doesn't take reservations OVERALL: I will 100% be coming back to this place. This is now my favorite bbq place around

This place is amazing! The staff is welcoming. The interior design of this place is unique unlike any other bbq joints around here. I stopped off in here two times for lunch in back to back week. The first time I went to Kanoon I bought their brisket platter. It came over a bed of rice and three sauces on the side. The brisket was tender and very delicious. The second time I went to Kanoon I bought their smoked chicken chops platter which game with yellow rice, a fresh salad and three sauces. For $12.99 you can't beat these deals for lunch. There are plenty of lunch options. You can also order from their regular menu which has a quite of few options on there. Go try them out!

The Olive Bistro Spread came with hummus, baba ghanouj, labneh, muhammara, two cheese rolls, and two fried kibbeh, accompanied by warm pita bread. It was a lot of food, my favorite dip was the labneh. Mix Grill for 4 came with six kofta kebabs, two shish kebabs, and four chicken kebabs, served alongside tender beef shawarma, grilled vegetables, house rice, and warm spicy bread. It was a lot of food. Some meats were overcooked though, and I prefer other mixed grills I've gotten at other Arabic restaurants. My favorite item was the lamb makluba, which had a seasoned rice with extremely tender bone in lamb chunks. I'd get just the makluba and maybe an appetizer next time so I'd have way less leftovers.

I know there's a million Halal spots popping up, and I will admit I'm very, very picky when it comes to platters. I miss the good ol' days on 53rd street in NYC... I came by around 10pm and was served quickly by a friendly employee. They have platters, burgers, wraps, wings, chicken tenders, fries, etc. I ordered the chicken rice platter (~$13.50). They cook the meat fresh on the grill and then you choose your toppings at the salad bar (olives, onions, peppers, tomatoes, etc.). It's a bit pricier than other places, but the portion size is huge. The container felt HEAVY lol. It's just a shame it went to waste because I really didn't enjoy the food. I only finished about half of it before I tossed the rest. The white sauce was almost flavorless and was VERY watery. The chicken wasn't as well-seasoned. No distinct spices or aroma. Every bite left me with a very greasy and salty taste in my mouth. The side salad was just okay. I was disappointed. The only saving grace was the rice... it was fluffy and the best part of the whole platter. Not sure if I came on an off night or...? Don't let my review stop you from trying. It might just not be the Halal spot for me.

Its English name comes from a Greek legend: Zeus had an affair with a beautiful woman named Io. When Hera, his wife, discovered his infidelity, she turned Io into a cow and created a horsefly to sting her on the rump. Io jumped clear across the strait. Thus, "bous" = "cow" and "poros" = "crossing place": Bosphorus = "crossing place of the cow." Located off of busy Franklin Avenue in Nutley, my partner, our friends, and I have decided on our dinner at this family-owned-and-run BYOB establishment, which has been open since 1995. A reservation was made for a party of 4 by calling their restaurant. Upon arrival after three years, we were welcomed by Nora, the owner, and made our way to a table by the piano inside, evoking a cozy, thoughtfully designed, upscale vibe with music playing softly. Their menu features Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine. For starters, we decided on the Puffed Rill Pastry and Grape Leaves. Our main meal consisted of all lamb dishes (Lamb Shish Kebab, Beyti Kebab, Lamb Chops, and Lamb Sauté). Our food was fresh, well seasoned, and cooked to perfection, accompanied by a beautifully presented dish. Everything was authentically made with love here. Wish we could have stayed for dessert, as they looked amazing, but some of us were in a rush. It's definitely on the higher end cost but worth the taste. Our visit ended with a hug and a piece of candy.

Everything was delicious, but I'll leave the food writing to the Yelpers with more sophisticated palates than I. (Actually, I take that back--the fresh-baked pita was amazing and I would eat it with/for every meal if I could.) The real reason I wanted to leave a review the service, which went above and beyond. Let me start by saying that Al Basha takeout has a wonderfully efficient order-number-based system for managing the hundreds of orders they get on a daily basis. But if, say, the person who placed the order sent you to pick up the food with the wrong order number, you're going to struggle, and that's not the restaurant's fault. With that prelude and without getting into the details, we'll just say there was a user error issue with my order that led to a mix-up and a very late pick-up. Everyone from the Al Basha staff with whom I interacted could not have handled it any better. They were very apologetic, not because they did anything wrong (to be clear, they didn't), but because they were disappointed our meal hadn't gone well and wanted to fix that. The top priority of the manager with whom I dealt was making sure that my wife--it was Mothers' Day--got the best meal possible, and made sure to send me home with fresh bread and a treat for the moms. It was true hospitality, and greatly appreciated. TLDR version: great food, excellent service, out-of-this-world pita, and make darned sure you have the right order number.

The chicken kebab was dry and the shawarma was a bit too sour for my liking (not sure if they squeezed lemon on it or something). The kofta was okay but nothing spectacular. The filet mignon, was a major let down. My server didn't ask how we'd like it cooked, which is medium rare for my family. It came back well done. He said everyone usually prefers it to be well done, but I think that's a mistake that shouldn't be made and preference should always be asked, especially with steak. We asked for it to be swapped, and it still came back well done. When we let them know again, they brought it back a little on the rare side, which is fine for my family, but had it been another family, not so sure. I'm sure they have hundreds of orders for the char grilled meets, so I'm a little confused on why the technique has not already been established My favorite dish had to be the makanik - which is pan seared lamb sausages finished with sweet and tangy pomegranate molasses. I usually don't like lamb because of the gamey flavor but these sausages didn't have that. I didn't taste much of the pomegranate molasses. The arugula & beet salad would've been good if the pomegranate molasses vinaigrette was less sweet. The stuffed grape leaves were also a bit too sour. The lemon was just taking over the entire flavor profile. I didn't really taste the tomato or parsley. The falafel platter was good but nothing different than other falafels that I've had. The mint lemonade was so refreshing. Almost everyone in the restaurant had one and I understand why. The mint is not overpowering I had high expectations because I've seen this place on instagram but I'm afraid they were not met. Service was good, but the food definitely needs some work.
