Paterson, NJ - like many patrons, my husband came across this place via their tantalizing Instagram posts and urged us to go. They were busy at dinner time on a Sunday night. As many reviewers mentioned, no one bothered to acknowledge us when we arrived, so I flagged down a waitress who said we could sit whenever we want. We chose to sit in the airier covered outdoor area (which isn't exposed to the elements so is perfectly temperate even in cold weather). There were no instructions on how to order either - this seems like a basic customer service fail: is it that hard to slap up signage explaining 1-2-3, or for someone (anyone!) to greet you and ask if this is your first time here and walk you through the process? Anyway, I'm glad I read the reviews and checked out what we wanted to order beforehand, and asked questions at the cashier. Sure, it's not that hard, but one really shouldn't have to actively track down multiple staff for directions on where to go or how to order at a restaurant. The deal is: decide which meat(s) you want from the poster (there is no menu), place your order (sold by the pound) with the cashier, pay, go to your table, and a server will bring the food to you when it's ready. The meat is (at current writing) $45/lb with unlimited sides and soft drinks. We ordered 1 lb each of beef brisket and lamb shank (1 lb = 2 shanks), which was the perfect amount of food for us 2 hungry adults, 2 teens of modest appetite, and a toddler of negligible appetite. The meat is simply seasoned (Arab bbq style) and came out lukewarm, but is off-the-bone tender and we enjoyed them with the variety of sauces. There are four types of sides: cucumber & tomato salad (good), spring mix, saffron rice (fine but my toddler loved this), and mashed potatoes (bland). It is a well-balanced meal, not too heavy. The chefs are friendly and we watched one film a demo almost certainly for social media. He even let us taste some of what he was seasoning, though there were no pyrotechnics as I had hoped from seeing some of the reels. The service wasn't bad - not terribly proactive but not non-existent either, and we always received what we requested. They could do better with customer guidance, but now that I know what's up I'd come back for the food and would like to try some other meats next time. Loved this spot! First of all there's a fire show which can't be missed-you even get a taste of the yummy meat after the show! The portions are huge and I love that you get unlimited sides and sauces along with unlimited drinks (soda and water). So it's a great deal. I went here for my birthday and I couldn't have chosen a better spot. The staff are so welcoming, and I was even able to speak to one of the chefs; they are very humble and charismatic! Our experience began with their fire show, where 2 torches were used to heat their meats wrapped in aluminum foil. According to the staff, based on how many guests are present determines how often the shows occur a night. Ok, the best part: the FOOD. we ordered 2lbs of Beef Brisket which was accompanied with yellow jasmine rice, 2 different refreshing salads, mashed potatoes, and an assortment of house-made sauces which were delicious. The meat was just like butter! The food was just outstanding. Our night was ended with a board of beautifully sliced pineapples topped with cinnamon and honey, possibly one of the most delicious combos I've tried. To begin with, the restaurant ran out of drinks entirely--yes, completely out. When we asked about beverages, our server casually suggested we walk to a nearby gas station to buy our own drinks. And we actually did. We left the restaurant, bought drinks from a gas station, and returned, hoping things would improve. While still sitting at our table--with our gas station drinks--we witnessed a waiter bring out drinks for another table. At this point, it became hard not to feel disrespected and even racially discriminated against. Why were other tables being served what we were told didn't exist? The sides were another disaster. The menu listed mashed potatoes and rice as the two available options, but they had run out of mashed potatoes entirely. We didn't even get the chance to try them. When we asked for more rice, we were told they had to "save it for other customers." I don't understand how a restaurant can advertise unlimited sides and then tell us we can't have more because they're trying to preserve stock for others. Are we not paying customers too? The food itself was underwhelming. When it finally arrived--two hours after we were seated--it was cold and clearly not fresh. The sauce portions were tiny compared to the amount of meat on the plate, and we had to repeatedly ask--almost beg--for more sauce just to make the food palatable. On top of all that, the atmosphere was uncomfortable. The music playing throughout the restaurant was loud, vulgar, and completely inappropriate for a family setting. It added to the chaos and lack of professionalism that defined the entire evening. It's also worth noting that the place seemed completely understaffed and disorganized. At one point, a man in a full suit--who appeared to be part of management or ownership--was behind the counter preparing food. It felt like they were just trying to get by with whoever was available. Not really sure what the hype is here. The food is very bland, even with the so called "spices" the sprinkle on the meat. The meat is tender but that's about it. The side dishes have zero flavor, once again bland rice/salad. There's nothing unique about their sauces, standard spicy mayo, bbq, and chimichurri. As for the service, it was crappy, we had no one come to our table, we had no one bring the sauces and the sides, we had to ask multiple times (and trying to get someone's attention is another mission). When we did finally get the sides, it was short, meaning each one of us should've gotten a plate, we were given one tiny plate for 3 people LOL. Visited this restaurant last night for iftar with my siblings and cousins. We ordered the lamb ribs, beef ribs, and the brisket. We got the sides and sauces that go with it. They had you pay your food before you sit down and eat which to me is something that I am not used to doing anywhere I've ever been too. They also had different types of soups, but the lentil soup was really good. There was also a station for two different types of drinks. The meats were very tender and delicious. Service was ok, they were really nice but they never came by to ask how we were doing or if we needed anything. We had to flag someone down just to bring us napkins to the table as they didn't provide any. Place is very decent sized and nicely decorated. For the cost of the food. The quality of service and attention to detail must be improved. When you walk in you are surprised by the size of the space. Very comfortable However, when it comes to the food there needs to be more direction and information. As a first time visitor walking in the restaurant they assume you know what to do . There should be clear signage with 1-3 steps with what to do, How to order , and where to sit. On that signage, it should say we sell meat by the pound and include what selections of meat we have to choose from. All you are ordering is meat and the meat comes with certain sides In addition, explain that the meat meal comes with certain side dishes. ( you don't choose) list the sides and they should tell all in before you order. Or provide a one sheeter with this information when we walk in so we can understand the experience. .We were asked " do you want lamb or beef. So because we said lamb and beef we surprisingly received a cold tray of brisket and lamb legs ( now I asked why was it cold or room temp with all those big ovens and it was served on a hot plate that was not hot! ) they had beef ribs and requested to order those and were told the food that we have is enough !!!! I came here for dinner on 6/1/2024 because my friend had seen all the hype regarding this restaurant on social media. We were both very excited to eat dinner here because the food looked so good in pictures. We made a 45 minute drive from Staten Island to Patterson, NJ. The parking situation is bad. Be aware that there is no parking lot for this place. Street parking is fairly difficult to find. By the end of the dinner, we were shocked at how bad the customer service at this place was. The forgot to sit us at our table, they forget to bring us our food, we were waiting for soo long as we saw everyone else getting their food except us. We did not even receive a menu. Horrible service. They even forgot to give us the other items we paid for (the rice, mashed potatoes, and everything else that is included with the meat).
