Fire Pit BBQ in Hackensack, NJ. You can smell the Portuguese style BBQ down the road at @hackensackfirepit! Fresh meat, chicken, ribs and burgers are seasoned and grilled to perfection on the open fire grill that is filled with flavor. The burger was huge and so flavorful from the hot embers. This is a hole in the wall place that serves up delicious BBQ! The service was super fast and they are BYOB! Insta: @thehungrysw

Grilled Chicken Sandwich with yellow rice

First time here tonight, and we very much enjoyed our meals. I had the shrimp in garlic sauce and it was delicious. My daughter had the grilled chicken sandwich with yellow rice and loved it. We will come back to try other things.

This is a great Portuguese barbecue spot. My family has been ordering here for the last couple of years and have never been disappointed. You can smell the barbecue from outside and it makes me even hungrier than I already am. They offer sandwiches, appetizers, salads, and entrées. They have a handful of meat choices to grill. For example, chicken, ribs, pork chops, and steak. Everything is made to order and is always fresh. I love the quality of their ingredients. Overall, I highly recommend it!

Firepit BBQ truly has the tastiest Portuguese meat platters I've ever had. The combo is one of our favorites, it comes with chorizo, chicken, pork, and beef ribs and it is served with a side of yellow rice and french fries and the portions are very generous; it really is a family pleaser. This location, in particular, cares about customer loyalty, and over the years is our go-to place when we don't feel like cooking at home. We love recommending this place to friends and family and love hearing how we've turned our friends into Fire Pit fans :) Instagram:@local.curiocity

Fries with Sea Salt

Forget the grill and order catering for your next event from here! We only have Italian and Asian in the area that delivers so when I found out we could get some Portuguese BBQ in the mix I was stoked! I am always on a mission for a good variety of food that can be delivered to help make life easier and Fire Pit BBQ came to the rescue for our father's day foodies so my hub didn't have to use the grill. The food was delivered hot and on time and we even received rave reviews from our vegetarian! There was a large quantity of food delivered and the price was SOOOO reasonable. I was surprised they would deliver so far out of the area but they were so accommodating and I will order again and highly recommend, you give them a shot to cater your next event. Even the pickiest eaters enjoyed their meals! We would have spent just as much if we had to buy and cook all the meats ourselves so this was an awesome way to entertain with way less effort. We ordered the 3 most popular meats: Chicken, Beef Short Ribs and traditional Pork Ribs. All meats were seasoned perfectly. The pork ribs were definitely a fan favorite. The chicken was moist. For sides we had: Fries, Rice, Beans, Salad and sauteed Broccoli and Carrots in a garlic aioli sauce. Definitely put a few spoonfuls of beans on top of the yellow rice and it's the perfect combination and a meal in itself. The fries were addictive..I think my hub sprinkled on a little extra salt. The salad came with ranch and oil and vinegar dressing which was awesome because I never have dressing on hand so the fact they offered a variety was awesome. They also sent BBQ and hot sauces on the side. Also, the best part was the order came with all the serving wear, eating utensils, napkins and plates so I literally didn't have to come inside for anything except for drinks and a few extra napkins. There was only one hiccup because I placed the order on Friday for delivery on Father's Day (Sunday) and there was a miscommunication because food showed up on Saturday. I was no where near my home to accept a delivery. Luckily, a neighbor was having a party and was able to accept the order but this did put me a little over my original budget that I had originally planned. Our neighbors had to reheat the food on the grill which dried out the chicken a bit but the ribs were sent medium and stayed flavorful and juicy even after reheating. However, for eating this two days in a row it was delicious both days...and we still have leftovers that can be enjoyed. At both events EVERYONE kept asking "Where did you get this food from?" because they were all impressed! Someone even knew the place and said they ordered from their work office all the time for their employees and loved eating there. Next time, I will just ensure I'm more clear with the delivery date to avoid any miscommunications. I'm sure there will be a lot more requests for deliveries in my area as a result of everyone trying this delicious Portuguese BBQ. I know I will definitely order from here again! I don't think I will use the grill again all summer. Easiest BBQ ever! I'm a fan and will be having some #FirePitBBQ all Summer 2019!

I got halfway through the bolon and found all the chicharrón had been packed in the center of the bolon. On top of that, all of the chicharrón was burnt to a crisp. My sister had a beef empanada. They liked their items and had no issues. Given that my siblings items were okay I cannot say I wouldn't recommend this place at all. I've heard comparisons between Marty's patties and those of Five Guys, and I can see why. They're fresh rather than frozen, and they're thin enough to approximate a smashed burger with those occasional bits of char while still maintaining enough heft that you can taste the beef. Their build-your-own burger menus are also similar, with plenty of free toppings to choose from. But I would argue that Marty's offers a fuller range of toppings from diverse cheese options to more premium ones like fried eggs, bacon, and avocado. I tried two of their signature burgers, and while the Swiss mushroom dijon was a hit with my husband (he pointed out the visible mustard seeds in the dijon sauce), the bacon avocado was the clear winner in my book. It not only had bacon that was texturally perfect (crispy and densely packed atop the patty), but also picture-ready slices of avocado. For that to come out of a fast food restaurant kitchen within a matter of minutes? Color me impressed. The banana pudding is dynamite. I'm usually neither a fan of banana nor puddings because those things combined just sound like mush. But here, the pudding is more of a whipped, airy texture, and I believe it when the lid says 'made fresh' because there were chunks of banana nestled in every bite. I admit it might not be much to look at, but I was hooked after a single spoonful (I'm actually greedily scraping the bottom of the container as I type this review). The restaurant has a diminutive dining space (I counted four two-tops at most), but it feels super cozy and casual. I took my food to go and found nothing had deteriorated - in flavor, temperature, or texture - during my drive home because everything is well packaged. There's paid street parking available, but this area of Hackensack is pretty dense so you might have to circle around for a bit before finding a spot.

I tried the Double Cheeseburger, Mushroom Burger, Truffle Parmesan fries, and Poutine. Everything was great. The patties on the burgers were cooked perfectly and were flavorful. The fries were nice and I enjoyed them both but I think I liked the Truffle Parmesan more--I'm a sucker for all things truffle. The poutine was surprisingly good too though. I wish the gravy were a little thicker but it was hot enough that it caused the cheese curds to get nice and melty. I'll definitely be back to try some of their other offerings.

Everything else, you grab at the buffet - including seafood, fish balls, veggies, and noodles. The BBQ items are just okay, but that tends to be the case with you have hot pot + BBQ. The hot pot beef was good but the lamb was super gamey, which turned my broth into a gamey lamb flavor, making everything else I cooked in there have a trace of that too. Bottom line - skip the lamb.
