Marty's understood the assignment. The hand-cut fries came out hot, crispy, and packed with flavor. All hail the sesame seed bun! It's been my humble opinion that the seeded bun is an integral part of a good burger, and Marty's has that - and more - going for it. I've heard comparisons between Marty's patties and those of Five Guys, and I can see why. They're fresh rather than frozen, and they're thin enough to approximate a smashed burger with those occasional bits of char while still maintaining enough heft that you can taste the beef. Their build-your-own burger menus are also similar, with plenty of free toppings to choose from. But I would argue that Marty's offers a fuller range of toppings from diverse cheese options to more premium ones like fried eggs, bacon, and avocado. I tried two of their signature burgers, and while the Swiss mushroom dijon was a hit with my husband (he pointed out the visible mustard seeds in the dijon sauce), the bacon avocado was the clear winner in my book. It not only had bacon that was texturally perfect (crispy and densely packed atop the patty), but also picture-ready slices of avocado. For that to come out of a fast food restaurant kitchen within a matter of minutes? Color me impressed. The banana pudding is dynamite. I'm usually neither a fan of banana nor puddings because those things combined just sound like mush. But here, the pudding is more of a whipped, airy texture, and I believe it when the lid says 'made fresh' because there were chunks of banana nestled in every bite. I admit it might not be much to look at, but I was hooked after a single spoonful (I'm actually greedily scraping the bottom of the container as I type this review). The restaurant has a diminutive dining space (I counted four two-tops at most), but it feels super cozy and casual. I took my food to go and found nothing had deteriorated - in flavor, temperature, or texture - during my drive home because everything is well packaged. There's paid street parking available, but this area of Hackensack is pretty dense so you might have to circle around for a bit before finding a spot. read more

I finally got to try Marty's today and it was fantastic. The customer service was superb and the food was delicious. The place is kind of small, but you can always get the food to-go. I tried the Double Cheeseburger, Mushroom Burger, Truffle Parmesan fries, and Poutine. Everything was great. The patties on the burgers were cooked perfectly and were flavorful. Everything in the burgers added something and I never felt like they were doing too much. The fries were nice and I enjoyed them both but I think I liked the Truffle Parmesan more--I'm a sucker for all things truffle. The poutine was surprisingly good too though. I wish the gravy were a little thicker but it was hot enough that it caused the cheese curds to get nice and melty. I'll definitely be back to try some of their other offerings. read more

Ordered this for pickup but the ambiance and service both seemed solid! This is located on main street so expect street parking. We got the BBQ burger, jalapeno burger, and the poutine fries. These burgers were both great sizes and they did not skimp out on the filling! Was looking for a quick dinner when I found out Marty's had another location in Hackensack. I had just visited the Fort Lee location a few weeks prior, and I had no idea Marty's had multiple locations. So I went to see how this one stacked up. As it turns out, this location literally opened yesterday. I met Marty and Ryan. They were actually there trying things out on the menu. It is much smaller than the Fort Lee location, with only a few tables. The menu appears to be identical. You order at the register and someone brings the food to your table. I got a double cheeseburger with bacon and jalapenos along with a side of cheese fries. This cheeseburger was just like the one I had in Fort Lee, but the beef patties had better texture and still juicy. The vegetables were fresh, I especially liked that the jalapenos were very thinly sliced. The fries this time has some truffle flavor, and it came with a container of cheese sauce. I really really liked their cheese sauce. It's tangy and a little smoky. It thickened up nicely as it cooled down. This location is closer to home and I liked my food better this time so I'll definitely frequent this one more. read more

When I heard that Marty's was opening in Hackensack, I was excited because I know that their burgers were good, but going to Fort Lee is pain sometimes especially with all the traffic. This location is a bit smaller, but the burgers are just as tasty. My friend and I both got the single cheeseburger and it was a perfect burger. And, we also got the poutine fries. We were contemplating between that and the truffle fries, but it's rare to find poutine fries. And, it was so good! 3.5 Stars Marty's is in a sliver of a retail space with just a few tables. It's success will be on the Pick Up or Delivery business. Street parking on very busy Main Street is tough. Maybe if I tried a few more items it could be 4 Star. But I already had 3 of it's specialties.+ fries and I just don't see it. Definitely better than any fast food chain. But not as good as a pub or a few other "higher" regarded fast paced burger places like ( rhymes with Stake Sack) Plenty of options & signature burgers\dogs as well as build-your-own. I found the hot dogs were plain old supermarket hot dogs. No flavor & boring. Not even the (oddish) chili & onions could save it. We tried the Old Bay Seasoned fries and the Salt & Vinegar fries and couldn't tell the difference. At $5\ order, we should have. As for the burgers which draws you in: We tried the single cheeseburger ( $6.95) which was "good" and the Mushroom, Swiss, Dijon burger ($10.49!) which was very good, but at that price with nothing on the side ....it better be very good. Ordered through DoorDash so yes we had to reheat the fries...totally delicious reheated in the air fryer (it's like 12 degrees out kinda wish DoorDash provided drivers with hot bags but I digress) 2 regular Marty burgers, delicious. One only had one sad pickle chip but seemingly they're bread and butter pickles so honestly shook out well. Well seasoned, well griddled, solid sesame coverage on the bun. 100% would eat again. Lettuce (not ice berg which is great bc ice berg wilts) and tomato fresh. Good cheese coverage. 1 Jalapeño burger, HOT. Exceptionally hot. Delicious but definitely hot hot! Cheese sauce good, but again cold not really great to reheat but still tasty. Marty's sauce should be Sold in a 10 gallon jug. It's delicious with the right back kick in your throat but has flavor not just heat. Can't say anything on service bc it was delivered nor ambiance but I would for sure go in to eat on site if I'm close. Simplicity is all you need sometimes. The burgers here at Marty's were might fine and exactly what you would expect. I had a double cheeseburger on a potato roll with the usual toppings of lettuce, onions, tomato, house sauce, and pickles. Not pictured, I also got a single with a lettuce wrap instead of the bun. I appreciate restaurants making this a visual option (one where you don't have to ask as a special request) and not charging extra for it. Service was fast and efficient. The woman at the counter was courteous and pleasant. Inside was decorated with mirrors that had pastel marker drawings. The seating was a long bench to metal tables and metal chairs opposite.
