They instantly reminded me of Five Guys fries, which is about as good a compliment as I can give. 8.5/10. The double cheeseburger was a two-handed commitment in the best way possible. What a great alternative to 5guys! Marty's feels like how 5guys used to be before all the new prices and such. You get combos here and great tasting food! Several options for fries as well from old bay seasoning to garlic herb and even poutine! And if you're not feeling a burger they have chicken sandwiches and tenders on deck. All hail the sesame seed bun! It's been my humble opinion that the seeded bun is an integral part of a good burger, and Marty's has that - and more - going for it. I've heard comparisons between Marty's patties and those of Five Guys, and I can see why. They're fresh rather than frozen, and they're thin enough to approximate a smashed burger with those occasional bits of char while still maintaining enough heft that you can taste the beef. Their build-your-own burger menus are also similar, with plenty of free toppings to choose from. But I would argue that Marty's offers a fuller range of toppings from diverse cheese options to more premium ones like fried eggs, bacon, and avocado. I tried two of their signature burgers, and while the Swiss mushroom dijon was a hit with my husband (he pointed out the visible mustard seeds in the dijon sauce), the bacon avocado was the clear winner in my book. It not only had bacon that was texturally perfect (crispy and densely packed atop the patty), but also picture-ready slices of avocado. For that to come out of a fast food restaurant kitchen within a matter of minutes? Color me impressed. The banana pudding is dynamite. I'm usually neither a fan of banana nor puddings because those things combined just sound like mush. But here, the pudding is more of a whipped, airy texture, and I believe it when the lid says 'made fresh' because there were chunks of banana nestled in every bite. I admit it might not be much to look at, but I was hooked after a single spoonful (I'm actually greedily scraping the bottom of the container as I type this review). The restaurant has a diminutive dining space (I counted four two-tops at most), but it feels super cozy and casual. I took my food to go and found nothing had deteriorated - in flavor, temperature, or texture - during my drive home because everything is well packaged. There's paid street parking available, but this area of Hackensack is pretty dense so you might have to circle around for a bit before finding a spot. read more

I finally got to try Marty's today and it was fantastic. The customer service was superb and the food was delicious. The place is kind of small, but you can always get the food to-go. I tried the Double Cheeseburger, Mushroom Burger, Truffle Parmesan fries, and Poutine. Everything was great. The patties on the burgers were cooked perfectly and were flavorful. Everything in the burgers added something and I never felt like they were doing too much. The fries were nice and I enjoyed them both but I think I liked the Truffle Parmesan more--I'm a sucker for all things truffle. The poutine was surprisingly good too though. I wish the gravy were a little thicker but it was hot enough that it caused the cheese curds to get nice and melty. I'll definitely be back to try some of their other offerings. read more

Ordered this for pickup but the ambiance and service both seemed solid! This is located on main street so expect street parking. We got the BBQ burger, jalapeno burger, and the poutine fries. These burgers were both great sizes and they did not skimp out on the filling! The milk shake was fire but I think the cup size was too small. I think a milk shake should come taller. I would definitely come back here next time I'm in Jersey. Was looking for a quick dinner when I found out Marty's had another location in Hackensack. I had just visited the Fort Lee location a few weeks prior, and I had no idea Marty's had multiple locations. So I went to see how this one stacked up. As it turns out, this location literally opened yesterday. I met Marty and Ryan. They were actually there trying things out on the menu. It is much smaller than the Fort Lee location, with only a few tables. The menu appears to be identical. You order at the register and someone brings the food to your table. I got a double cheeseburger with bacon and jalapenos along with a side of cheese fries. This cheeseburger was just like the one I had in Fort Lee, but the beef patties had better texture and still juicy. The vegetables were fresh, I especially liked that the jalapenos were very thinly sliced. The fries this time has some truffle flavor, and it came with a container of cheese sauce. I really really liked their cheese sauce. It's tangy and a little smoky. It thickened up nicely as it cooled down. I found the hot dogs were plain old supermarket hot dogs. No flavor & boring. Not even the (oddish) chili & onions could save it. We tried the Old Bay Seasoned fries and the Salt & Vinegar fries and couldn't tell the difference. At $5\ order, we should have. As for the burgers which draws you in: We tried the single cheeseburger ( $6.95) which was "good" and the Mushroom, Swiss, Dijon burger ($10.49!) which was very good, but at that price with nothing on the side ....it better be very good. Simplicity is all you need sometimes. The burgers here at Marty's were might fine and exactly what you would expect. I had a double cheeseburger on a potato roll with the usual toppings of lettuce, onions, tomato, house sauce, and pickles. Not pictured, I also got a single with a lettuce wrap instead of the bun. I appreciate restaurants making this a visual option (one where you don't have to ask as a special request) and not charging extra for it. Service was fast and efficient. The woman at the counter was courteous and pleasant. Inside was decorated with mirrors that had pastel marker drawings. The seating was a long bench to metal tables and metal chairs opposite. Felt like chicken and got the chicken tender combo which came with 5 chicken strips, a large portion of fries, and a can of soda for $14.95 ( I think). So good! The chicken was juicy and tender, very fresh! The fries were among the best I've had; not greasy at all, very lightly salted, and tasted like pure potatoes.
