Second time here and possibly the last...maybe because it was Mother's Day and it was busier than usual but my experience this time around was nothing like the first. The service was ok this time around. I originally ordered the rancher's hash which over easy eggs instead of sunny side since I'm expecting and want to make sure to eat foods that are well cooked instead of under, but it came with sunny side anyway. The avocado looked like it was going bad and still had the skin on it...I've never seen an avocado served like that in a restaurant before...almost bad and with the skin still on it. I also wasn't aware it would have steak slices as it doesn't specify that in the description of the rancher's hash so I assumed it'd be crumbled ground beef...either way, the bowl itself didn't look as appetizing as it sounded in the description. I opted to switch to the grass fed burger I had my first visit here and it was ok, first time was definitely better than this time around and the air fried fries were ok, most of them underneath the initial picture look and tasted overcooked which was another disappointment. I enjoyed with my lavender matcha, Margherita sourdough pizza (YUM!) and the brussel sprouts for our starters. This visit was certainly disappointing on Mother's Day. I really want to recommend and keep coming back for the fact that it's health consciousness menu but don't want to pay for 'just ok' food either...nor recommend a place that's just ok. read more

Upon entering as first-timers last night, my partner, our friends, and I were greeted by the host and stepped into a spacious room over 6,000 sq. feet nicely filled with patrons, a bright and airy room full of greenery with a welcoming vibe. Our table was ready by the window. Outdoor dining is available, weather permitting, with a massive patio with bright yellow umbrellas. Their clearly labelled seasonally rotating menu has a heavy focus on healthy eating, featuring burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, salads, and entrees with vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-friendly options.  They have a full bar with wine and beer selections, plus specialty craft cocktails. As a starter, we decided on the Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Edamame Dumplings to share. For our mail meal, we opted for Grilled Salmon, All-American Burger, Spaghetti Squash Casserole, Chicken Parmesan and a side of Honey Roasted Carrots. We washed them down with Pomegranate Spritzer with Tito Vodka, Stella Artois, Rose Sangria, and Grapefruit Martini. Today I had a day off from work and ordered delivery from True Food Kitchen. It was my first time ordering here. I ordered a burger with perfectly cooked meat. It came with arugula, a caramelized onion and mushroom topping on a seeded bun; side: This time, I chose mashed potatoes with cheese. Let me tell you about my experience: The meat was juicy and delicious, the bun was soft, fresh and very interesting. The combination of everything in the burger was exquisite. The portion was just right for me. I didn't leave a single bite... I'm a huge fan of mashed potatoes, and these were incredibly tasty. I give this place a 10 out of 10. The service and dishes at TFK have been consistently good at their locations. The same holds true for the Hackensack, NJ location. I love that they offer delicious food with high-quality and clean ingredients! Surprisingly, I went with my family on a Sunday afternoon for lunch with an Open Table reservation and it wasn't crowded at all. We ordered the following: APPETIZERS Guacamole Edemame Dumplings ENTREES 3 x Grilled Sustainable Salmon Grass-Fed Burger with Air-Fryer fries BEVERAGES Iced Green Tea (not shown) Hot Green Tea Everything was delicious, as usual... and Grilled Sustainable Salmon is my favorite dish at TFK. We were able to request less salt on my father's salmon dish without a problem. TFK is very good at accommodating people with dietary restrictions. What a difference from the first time I lunched here with friends. Sadly, not a good difference. They still offer the trio; it's a good idea, a beverage, a main and a side for just under $20, and a $2 upcharge for some of the sides. This is still a good deal, I couldn't eat in a diner for the price, and the ambience is much nicer. But... Last time I really was impressed with my veggie burrito. This time I had a Mediterranean wrap that was underwhelming. It was served cold. I don't mean that it wasn't heated; this seemed to have just come from the refrigerator, which means it must've been premade. The wrap part itself was a white bread type of thing, not sure how to describe it. A pliable flatbread, maybe? Cold and tasteless. I ordered the Chinese chicken salad for my side, and that was good; I'd asked for the carrot-ginger dressing on the side, and used that to dip the wrap and the chicken (also cold dry cubes) in, and it (the dressing) was good. The beverage I had was black tea, very good. One friend had a chicken wrap and the other had the same uninspired Mediterranean wrap that I had, but with the butternut squash soup as her side. We all wanted cappuccino afterwards, but decided to go to a coffee shop instead. We followed the front of the house person to a large booth; good, ample space for our coats. He left, and as we went to sit down, one of my friends noticed a tear in the seat cushion. There was one on each side of the table. We were about to ask if we could sit at the next booth, but those cushions were also torn. Strange. The booth was large, as I said, so we just scooted down and kept our coats over the torn part. The friends I was with this visit went on my recommendation; they said they wouldn't return. For my part, I'm not in that neck of the woods often enough to worry about it. If you want healthy, flavorful, and filling dishes, come to True Food Kitchen. As soon as you enter, you'll take in the clean, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing interior. I will ALWAYS only start with their Iced Shakerato (organic espresso and brown sugar). I cannot recommend this drink, enough. Yes, even in the winter! We started with the Edamame Dumplings (white truffle oil, dashi, Thai basil, sesame seeds), Charred Cauliflower (medjool dates, harissa tahini, dill, mint, pistachio), the Seasonal Roasted Butternut Squash Soup (garnished with sage). All these starters were consumed within seconds, were at optimal temperatures, and the sauce that covered each cauliflower was exquisite. The entrees were: Ancient Grains Bowl (organic grains, miso sesame glazed sweet potato, charred onions, snap peas, portobello, avocado, pistachio pesto, hemp seeds, turmeric) and the Chicken Tender Plate (four tenders served with simple salad). The Grains Bowl was packed with healthy and tasty ingredients and the Chicken Tenders were only lightly battered, soft to chew, and came with four large pieces. I will, most definitely, be a happy return customer to True Food Kitchen and it's HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Ohhhhh.... The salmon was cooked medium which was disclosed and actually nice and moist. Who needs salad when you have this bowl full of hearty goodness? My friend got the plant based double cheeseburger that came with a side of kale salad and vegan cheese. She loved the burger and the cheese. (Most vegan cheese are hard to make and taste like cheese but she liked this cheese) The edamame dumplings was delicious too. We ordered a variety of iced cappuccino, prickly pear spritzer and a delicious Rombauer wine. Hump day festivities in a clean and green decorated interior. Seats were very comfortable cushion bench(diner seats). Service was professional especially from the waitress and the manager. He definitely was keeping an eye and filling in on areas of improvement. We were at TFK for a Sunday lunch. Of course due to Blue Collar law the mall was closed, still the restaurant was almost full. They still have the wonderful amazing greenery appearance throughout the restaurant. We started with edamame dumplings. This was a wonderful dish, as the dumplings had some delicious fillings. For entree I got the Salmon , a very nicely cooked filet, that also came with bunch healthy veggie ingredients and smoked grains. The burger my wife had was also excellent. I was little disappointed with the kid's plain pizza that my daughter had. It was really plain, could have had more cheese and thicker/tastier/baked crust. Our server was wonderful. Service was good. I tried this spot for the first time after a friend recommended it, noting that they do not use seed oils and offer hormone proteins. I'm a big fan of a good bowl, so I was happy to see several on the menu. I ordered the teriyaki quinoa bowl with salmon added. The combination of fresh veggies (especially loved the picked shiitake), Asian-inspired flavors, and the perfectly cooked salmon was absolutely delicious and very filling. I also ordered a margarita, which was nicely balanced and refreshing. My friend went with the seasonal market salad and added steak. She really loved how the apple cider vinaigrette paired with the medjool dates and honey-roasted carrots -- a great mix of sweet and savory. She also an iced lavender matcha latte. After some back and forth she was told they ran out of some of the ingredients. She instead chose coconut ice cream which she shared was also delicious. I had a taste and loved the crunchiness of the veggies with the quinoa and sauce. Huge portion-- she didn't add a meat protein but the dish was very filling. By the way, all dishes had the caloric value next to them which I also appreciate. We also had iced lavender matchas with almond milk, and a vegan/gluten free choc chip to go. The drinks looked quite beautiful and tasted good-- a tad too sweet for me. The cookie was also good but had a bit of a chalky aftertaste for me. I would skip the cookie next time. I've passed this restaurant many times entering the shops at Riverside. I decided to try it out. I was starving and curious. They have seasonal menu, children's menu and a standard menu. They pride themselves on real food, that's fresh and take great care to use fruits and vegetables and seasoning that are in that are in season. I sat at the bar, which was great. The bartenders were super helpful and insightful, as I was trying to figure out what I wanted to eat and also to drink. I ordered the Spicy Korean Chicken Sandwich with the Kale Salad and I had the Crime of Passion. The spicy Korean chicken sandwich was good, but it wasn't as spicy as I thought it would be, but still had a lot of great flavor the Korean barbecue sauce with tangy. The kale salad was not what I expected expected more of a salad with other vegetables in it, but that's not what it was with kale with some cheese on top I love the location.
