I'm so disappointed with my food! I used to go here weekly for salads, but now I'm not sure if I will be returning! After driving around for 20 minutes to find parking I was able to order my salad! I always get the same thing every time I go! I ordered the kale ceasar salad with roasted chicken! I always order the kids size because its always filling, but not this time! I stopped in for lunch. I ordered the Greek salad with the Parmesan crusted chicken. The cashier was very friendly and prepared my salad quickly. It was good but the dressing was too tart. The cashier said it was "just like Italian dressing" but I typically like Italian dressing. This... not so much. I couldn't finish the salad because of it. This was disappointing. I have had Chopt three times now and the first two times were amazing. Their salads have tons of variety and their dressings are better than anything else I've had. However; the last time I went, I ordered a Seranno Heatwave Bowl to-go and unfortunately there was no chicken in my bowl. Despite that, I loved every bite of it. Truly one of the best "healthy" bowls I've had in my life. Unfortunately, my praise stops there, as a couple of hours later, I came down with food poisoning. I love Chopt and was excited to see that it finally came to a place near me. So the pros are that the restaurant is sizeable, clean, with plenty of natural light and minimalist designs. The employees are pretty friendly and everything tastes fresh. The bread is pretty good. Cons: -The price is definitely high and I guess I forgot about this aspect since I haven't stepped foot in a Chopt in years. -They aren't chopping the salads anymore, instead using prechopped ingredients... I don't know when this happened but it just made it seem like everything was less fresh. Maybe I'm just being pretentious, I don't know. -They were out of two ingredients I wanted and it was early on a Sunday. I think it's pretty important for a place like this to be fully stocked, especially if it wasn't even busy beforehand. -The portions of what you get for each "chopping" are pretty small. You also have to pay extra for a few pieces of dry chicken... I got a custom salad with Mexican goddess dressing and my boyfriend got the chicken warm dish (first on the menu that also came with Mexican goddess) and they were tasty but we didn't end up finishing everything which was really strange. I'm not sure if our tastes have changed, or if Chopt has changed for the worse, because I remember wolfing down salads from here in the past. Chopt is a make your own salad place, but they also have warm bowls. Everything has to be specified, down to how you want your dressing given to you. If you're a first time visitor, this is going to take you a few tries to master. I wasn't happy with how my salad came out since I didn't ask for the dressing on the side. All of the dressing pooled to the bottom, and the bowl is so tightly packed that it's hard to maneuver/mix the salad up. Basically, learn to order before you actually order. I do appreciate the selection of lettuces, greens, add ins, meats and dressings one can add to their salad. Also, if you're very confused, just look up at the board and order one of the "pre-made" salads. I am obsessed with this place. This place makes me CRAVE salads - it isn't a bore to eat. I've actually taken some of the inspirations home with me and make my own salads at home. They have regular salads and warm bowls (basically salad with some warm grains). I've tried the Harvest Bowl and the Mediterranean bowl - both are delicious. Located in the Bergen Town Center right next to CAVA or between Whole Foods and Target. PS. I've seen some people complain about the cost of this place. This outlet of Chopt is so weird and different. I know that Bergen county is a ghost town on a Sunday , but the whole system is different here than other Chopt locations I have been. Firstly , they had only limited options available from Menu. And , when I chose the salad I wanted , they didn't offer to get it chopped!! Which is so weird , since Chopt specialty is that I feel! Living in NC, the Chopt here is usually hit or miss. Sometimes my salads are yummy; sometimes they taste like grass. So when I went to the Chopt in Paramus, I figured it wouldn't be great. But I took the risk because I was hungry and wanting something healthy. I have to say -- this Chopt location really impressed me. It was clean, the salad was plenty, and they gave me extra chicken w/o charging. Personally, I think the "standard" chicken amount is ridiculously little -- so I appreciated that the person behind the counter gave me extra. Really inconsistent lately: 1st, the food itself - the quality of the ingredients has been changing wildly, and I feel like I never know what I am going to get when I order an online delivery, aside from the greens. I assume this is pandemic-related, so don't want to be too harsh about it. 2nd, the assembly - there will be stretches where everything is made totally correctly and it's all super reliable, and then stretches where things are constantly wrong, missing, etc. and I don't know if it's a staffing issue or if they just decide to replace ingredients without telling the customer, but it's so frustrating. 3rd, the prices - I think the pricing is average/what is to be expected, but it has risen repeatedly since the restaurant opened, and I now find myself paying about 150% of what I'd paid in the beginning for the same thing, which is a bitter pill to swallow. Also, lately they put the dressing containers inside of the salad, resulting in less of the food. If you choose a lot of dressing, they seem to often give the same amount of dressing but just in 2 separate containers placed inside of the bowl, resulting in even less food. Unsure why this practice began. Finally, the restaurant is located at a busy mall, so it's a trek to get to and a big annoyance if you want to return with an incorrectly-made order. I hate giving any place a "not terrible, not great" review, but that's exactly where this place currently stands for me. read more
