    Popover with strawberry butter
    Emma K.

My mom used to take us to the Rotunda when we were kids to celebrate our birthdays, and there is still something special about this little lunch spot. The menu is easy, not a ton of choices, which is good for a quick lunch. We chose the sampler, which is the soup of the day, half a sandwich and a side salad. The rotunda always serves a cup of chicken broth and a pop over with strawberry butter to start. Overall a nice spot to stop for lunch if you're in the Garden State Plaza

What and unexpected pleasure. After some serious shopping, we popped in here to grab a quick drink but ended up staying for lunch. What a gorgeous room with panoramic views. However it was the food that really surprised - I was looking up recipes for the complimentary Consommé they served along with a seriously large popover. The lobster Cobb salad was ridiculously good. It wasn't crowded and the staff was friendly...a calm oasis at the mall

Came here for a lovely lunch today and had the most wonderful time. We got the crab cake salad and the Neiman burger, and both very delicious and made with good quality ingredients. The service was polite and everything was very clean with the staff constantly cleaning and sanitizing between clients. Highly recommended.

Everything was amazing here. From the food to the service to the atmosphere... The staff was so nice to our 2 kiddos. They went to town on their kids quesadilla...I loved my chicken sandwich...coffee was amazing...cookies amazing ( glad we only bought 2)...

Complimentary popovers with pink butter! (butter + strawberry jam) They were warm and delicious.

I think this place is a solid 4 stars, I'm docking one star off mostly because the quality of the food is not QUITE up to par when compared with the price point. My mom and I came here on a Saturday afternoon, and we found it pleasantly quiet and a lovely atmosphere in which to get away from the hustle and bustle of GSP--I live about 15 minutes away from the mall, and I've seen pretty much all of the highs and lows of it all. We were seated by the window, which gave us a nice view, and I finally realized that The Rotunda was the place that I'd seen when I was passing by in a car--not knowing that it was a restaurant! The waitress was very friendly and attentive, and we opted to not order any drinks and just went with still water. We were delighted when we received a complimentary popover. I remember my mom making these for me when I was younger--and they're just as buttery and lovely (and WARM!) as I remembered them--even if they aren't homemade! It comes with a delicious butter that's mixed with strawberry jam. When we asked for seconds later on, the popover-passer-outer did not hesitate to give us more. We ordered a sandwich+soup deal of the day, the sandwich chosen was the Tuna Salad, and the soup was a cheese tortellini. It also came with a cute side cup of fruits, which were pretty fresh, though not really something I'd go for if it were on the menu--good thing they came with the meal. It was also super salty and I had to chug like two glasses of water to balance it out. The Tuna Salad sandwich was delicious, the bread was very yummy--there were a lot of ingredients inside the salad, and not just plain ol' tuna-and-mayo. I remember there was a bit of crunch--celery? It could've used a bit more lemon juice, but there was definitely already some lemon in it. I was impressed. The cheese tortellini was not that overcooked, but the soup/sauce part basically like a thick marinara sauce--where were my breadsticks to dip this in? My mom got the turkey club sandwich, which she really enjoyed--it was on a hearty bread that held in the sandwich's contents well. We also received complimentary mint chocolate pieces at the end, yay!

Spectacular service ! Arrived at about 11:15am for a quick lunch before running errands. Ordered the chicken pesto sandwich which was very tasty and my partner ordered the burger which was also very good. Complimentary pop over and broth prior to our meal and the sweetest server who gave us complimentary key lime pie and chocolate dessert to go. Must try !

I love love love this little secret place. Hidden upstairs in Neiman Marcus. The food is healthy and refreshing. Classy and fun. The waiters and waitresses are sweet as pie and on it but not interfering in your time with your lunch date. I love it here. I go 2x a week. It's my getaway

It was quiet surprise there is small place that I could have quiet lunch inside of the mall. I went there 12:30pm weekday, 8-10 tables were occupied. Right after I received menu, they served popover with strawberry butter. And also small cup of chicken soup. I got crab cake salad($19), my friend got mushroom/vegetable risotto with shrimp($16+$2 shrimp). They were quiet good. Portion was just enough for lunch. Homemade pomegranate lemon aid was very tasty also. Restaurant has view towards to the outdoor parking lot. Even though I had to look at the parking lot, it was nice to spend some quiet relaxed meal inside of the mall while looking over outside.

First things first as I'm sure other reviewers have flagged but Lula is BYOB. We forgot that memo but luckily they partner up and recommend local wine / liquor distributors who are able and willing to swing down to the restaurant with a bottle of your favorite thing. Prices are high (on-par with what you'd expect from NYC fine dining) but the ambiance isn't stuffy and staff were kind, friendly and generally attentive. Note that the restaurant is generally loud (there is no music) so you might find yourself raising your voice to talk to your partner. The restaurant was completely busy so reservations are necessary though thankfully did not find it as competitive as NYC to get a prime-time Saturday night dinner reservation. The focaccia, a staple on Lula's menu, was excellent though I would do without the +$3 additional sardine sauce / accompaniment which I felt was unnecessary. The beef tartare was my personal favorite, light and delicious and a generous portion paired with the cream sauce and chips. We were generally satisfied by the time our entrees came out and I really enjoyed the salmon / fish dish they served along with the clams. Finishing with the Baked Alaska was also excellent (though not game-changing) and we enjoyed our time here. Would recommend a visit and think there's enough going on nearby to warrant a trip to Ridgewood, NJ regardless!

The potato was shaped like the Fritos scoop chip, and the cheese dip that came with it had chunks of cheese in a melted cheese sauce. For my main, got the pulled pork sandwich ($16), which came in a pretzel knot bun and creamy slaw. It was solid meal and very filling. Other mains ordered were the roast beef "pho" style sandwich ($16) which I had a bite of and it was good and not what I expected thinking roast beef. Roast turkey ($16) was warm and also tasty. The restaurant is very pretty overall, though the interior is quite dim, making it difficult to read the menu without additional light. The tables were also placed fairly close together. Our server was polite and welcoming throughout the evening. We started with the Korean fried chicken and tuna tataki. The chicken was moist and coated in a sweet and spicy sauce. The tuna tataki was flavorful; however, the taro chips were very thin and tended to break easily when holding the tuna. For our main courses, we ordered the Icelandic cod, rigatoni, Freebird chicken, and a side of whipped potatoes. Dessert was the hazelnut chocolate crunch, which was a nice way to end the meal. Overall, the food was enjoyable. That said, the pricing felt more in line with a fine dining experience, while the atmosphere and service were closer to an upscale casual restaurant. Some small details, such as the whipped potatoes being served without a serving spoon, stood out. While minor, these details can make a difference, especially at this price point.

We stopped in mid-week for a family dinner after work and even on a Wednesday the place was buzzing. The restaurant itself is pretty tiny, which makes for a cozy atmosphere but also means tables are very close together. If you can, I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. The menu is somewhat minimal, but the food overall was good. I eat gluten-free and noticed the options were a bit limited, which made ordering slightly challenging. I ended up going with the sea scallops. They were nicely cooked, but the portion was smaller than I expected--five small scallops with some vegetables. For the price, I do wish the portion had been a bit more generous. I have to admit I left still a little hungry. My dad ordered the short rib grilled cheese and really enjoyed it. That was probably the standout dish at our table. My sister ordered the honey bourbon chicken and said it was okay, but afterward she mentioned she probably should have gone with the short rib grilled cheese instead. One surprise of the night was live music on a Wednesday. I usually enjoy live music, but since we were hoping to catch up as a family it made conversation a little difficult. The music was fairly loud for such a small space. Service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. They also have a rewards program, which worked out nicely--my dad received a complimentary dessert for his birthday. I ordered the crème brûlée, which was a great way to end the meal. A couple practical tips: parking in Ridgewood can be tricky. The restaurant advertises valet parking, though we didn't use or see it during our visit. If you find street parking, make sure to feed the meter because the town is known for giving out tickets. In warmer months they do offer some outdoor sidewalk seating, though it looks fairly limited. It also appears they have a happy hour, though we didn't arrive in time to try it. Overall, I'd recommend checking out Steel Wheel Tavern--just be mindful of the timing of your visit, especially if you're hoping for a quieter dinner.

The appetizer was the Slow-Roasted Meatballs (porcini-dusted veal, pork, grass-fed beef, tomato-basil sauce, brick-oven bread). Each meatball was tender, flavorful, well seasoned, and the sauce was sufficient to accompany every forkful of the delicious starter. The entrees were: Caramelized Sea Scallops (broccolini, mascarpone risotto). Next was the Seasonal Brick-Oven Gnocchi (roasted mushrooms, truffle oil, roasted tomatoes, Marsala and provolone sauce, green onions). The final entree was the Mediterranean Wood-Grilled Chicken Salad (arugula, toybox tomatoes, kalamata olives, red onions, chickpeas, quinoa, feta, lemon dijon vinaigrette).
