For context: I went on a Friday morning at 10am I've been to Turning Point before but never to this Paramus location. There was plenty of parking in the lot and when I went to their website to "Get in line" it said there was no wait for a party of my size (2). I was pleasantly surprised to see that was truly the case and we were seated right away. The restaurant had a cool vibe and was spotless. Our waitress could not have been nicer and our drink and food orders were taken right away. My iced coffee took a little longer than my mom's hot coffee to come out and she kept me updated with its progress which was appreciated. I ordered two lemon blueberry pancakes which came with warm syrup. They were delicious and for such an elevated breakfast it was a relief to see they were only $8.50. I was honestly surprised that at 2pm on a Sunday there was still a wait for just two people--but that usually says something about a place's popularity. Once seated, the restaurant was clean and well-kept, and our server was attentive throughout the meal. The only hiccup was the coffee--it took a bit longer than expected to arrive, which felt extra noticeable since we were craving a caffeine boost post-race. It's a fairly large casual restaurant, reminds me of a large eat-in kitchen at someone's home. I got the cold brew and my wife got a French press for coffee. Both were pretty good, i like the large serving sizes and the giant iced coffee cube that came with the cold brew. For my entree I got shakshuka and my wife got a breakfast platter with a belgian waffle. Shakshuka was decent, definitely have had better though. The breakfast platter was very average. Usually I don't ding for lousy service. We visit TP occasionally and usually service is more than satisfactory. This time was different and I hope it is an anomaly due to a novice or untrained manager. First of all, we did a call ahead for 12:30. We were outside greeting the rest of our party of 5 at 12:30 when a TM asks if we are still coming. We did not reply because we were outside the restaurant. We went in at 12:32 and the guy at the desk told us our call ahead had been cancelled. Okay...if that was it, no gripe. But, wait, there's more... The five of us we were seated by a server who said nothing, handed regular menus to all, we had to ask for 2 kids menus. Three empty water glasses for five, no water carafe and no on asked if we would like a drink, coffee? Anything? While we are waiting having decided on our order and clearly being ignored, parties of 3 and 4 were being seated nearby with a server going over the menu, bringing carafes of water and ordering. After nearly 1/2 hour no staff approached our table or even looked. I waved to a server to please send over wait staff. Nothing. Another long wait and a server responded to my wave and asked if we needed something? Seriously? We explained no one had been to our table. Her reply was that the staff got confused? Finally ordered and requested that the two kids meals be brought first as we have been seated for close to hour with nothing on the table. Another wait and the two kids meals came out. Nothing else. The two kids were finished eating and the adults are still waiting. Finally the wait staff appears with our plates and coffee mugs. Coffee was room temperature and not up to TP standards. My family had the worse experienced at this branch of the Turning Point Chain. My wife ordered a salad as she is vegetarian and she told the waiter three times not to have meat on it. Unfortunately, this was not taken into account as there was chicken in her food. When we told the waiter he was very dismissive, so we asked for the manager and wanted an apology. The manager tried to throw the blame around and when we also mentioned how it took an hour for the food to get to us, they blamed the chef who is new. We decided to try TPOP Saturday late lunch, around 1:30pm. Even at this odd time, they were somewhat full, we had to wait about 20 minutes to get a table. In the process we learned that the bar tables are available for anyone including kids. Next time we will just sit there to skip waiting, if seats are available. We had a chance to take advantage of a slow morning to get a seat and try a few options. First off the staff and the service was absolutely excellent - it's basically the reason why there's even two stars here, because they are friendly, attentive and made the experience lovely. The other positive is that their coffee press options are great and the Hawaiian brew is absolutely solid. Their freshly baked cinnamon rolls were also decent. But the quality of the other food was a major disappointment. The huevos rancheros were really not a hit with the table and was surprisingly average/bland. The smores French toast was insanely sweet and actually made my children feel not so great after eating it. It was just overwhelming for some reason in terms of the sugar or heaviness aspect. The chicken and waffles with sriracha aioli was pretty terrible. The chicken quality was surprisingly poor (very overly crunchy/doughy crust with chicken that really was quite bland) and very little actual aioli was used. The entire dish just didn't taste great and felt very low quality, though the waffle itself was fine. Very unfortunate as everyone was shocked at how disappointing the food was. Great value - I got pancakes and a latte and was just under $20 before tip. My pancakes were delicious and fluffy. It's spacious. They have a breakfast bar in addition to traditional seating. Knocked off a star because service wasn't the greatest. read more

I stopped by Turning Point for breakfast around 10AM on a Thursday. The place was surprisingly busy but there's plenty of seating so my friend and I were seated immediately. To start I ordered a strawberry horchata. It was good, but I don't think I'd order it over a regular horchata (which they unfortunately do not offer). It tasted exactly like a horchata but with a hint of strawberry, I don't know what I was expecting. I think it was a seasonal summer drink anyway. I'd pass on the next visit. The menu is decently sized so there's probably something for everyone. I can never decide between sweet and savory breakfast so luckily my dining partner was willing to split an order of strawberry cheesecake french toast. I ordered the Wilbur Skillet and my friend got the Avocado Smash Benedict. We also got a side of cheddar grits to share. The food came out fairly quickly and everything tasted pretty good. The Wilbur Skillet was basically like an omelet but instead of the fillings being cooked into the eggs, the eggs were cooked sunny side up and placed on top. It came with an English muffin on the side so I made myself a little sandwich. All the ingredients went well together and I usually feel like bacon is an overrated breakfast meat but it fit right into this skillet. It added a satisfying crunch to the creaminess of the avocado. The starchy potatoes held everything together and of course everything is better with pepper jack cheese. I've recently become a fan of grits, and Turning Point's cheddar grits were solid. My only gripe with it was that an order was almost $5 and it wasn't too big. That seems a bit much to me for a small side. The strawberry cheesecake french toast was really good. The french toast was nice and fluffy and the cheesecake frosting really did remind me of cheesecake. It was nicely dusted with crushed graham crackers too. The strawberry sauce on the side was nice and warm too and it just made for a really pleasant eating experience. By the end of the meal I was stuffed. Our waitress brought out the check but she was very pleasant and I didn't feel rushed at all. Definitely a solid breakfast spot; I'd come back to try lunch. read more

First time dining at this location. Came with two others for brunch. It was a Monday so we barely waited 5 mins before being sat, no reservation. I ordered the CrossFit omelet which came with a side of mixed greens. Their menu is extensive and I was happy to see healthier options on the menu. Dieting is hard to begin with but it makes it so much easier when restaurants consider these kinds of customers and have many options. Overall, great dining experience and large menu which offers lots of variety! Aiden was our server and he was attentive but not overbearing. The entire restaurant and restroom was clean and inviting.
