We always walk by this café and have been meaning to check it out to support a local business. We finally did so, one August Friday morning, at around 8:30. I had the corned beef hash platter, which comes with home fries, two eggs, toast, and coffee (free refills). Hubby had the french toast plate, which comes with meat, two eggs, and coffee/tea. It was your typical canned Hormel corned beef, which was what I was expecting. But sometimes, you just don't want to go buy a can, make it yourself, have to prep/cook all of the potatoes. There were not too many people dining there, since it was still a weekday after all - but I always see that it looked packed after a Sunday service. We sat outside, and people watched. Out of all of the Fisher's Cafes, this is my favorite. Not only because it's large, not only because it's nicely decorated both inside and outside, not only because the food is served in generous portions and delicious, but because I knew everything would fall into place after experiencing the stellar service. The owner is hospitable, cordial, funny, and sits down at each table, when taking their order. I never see that at any other eatery and, in my opinion, is a nice thing that every customer will appreciate. Our entrees were: Western Omelette (Ham, onions, peppers, with home fries and buttered rye toast) and the Town Special (2 sunny side up eggs, turkey sausage, home fries, and wheat toast). Both entrees were delicious, filling, and highly recommended. If you prefer dinner, weekly specials are available which, I'm certain, are just as good as their breakfast. Walking in gave me a homey kind of feel. Autumn/Halloween decorations were up. Before 11 on a Sunday, the restaurant is lightly filled. Our waiter was friendly. He even took our orders while sitting down at our table He provided health conscientious recommendations when asked. The food came out at a decent pace. A cup of water is not automatic, so be sure to ask for one if you want. I got the Eggs Nova Scotia. The dish was definitely savory. So savory that I felt the urge to drink my sweet Peach Snapple between bites. The home fries were somewhat bland and needed a good helping of ketchup for flavor. Overall, the food is meh but the place is homey and welcoming. Wouldn't mind going back for brunch when feeling something different. read more

I have lived in the area for 20+ years and never made it over to this iconic eatery....until today that is! On a rainy Saturday, we decided to finally make the trip. Ordered the western omelette and a short stack of banana nut pancakes. Everything was AMAZING! Better than any other local diner. The omelette was not greasy at all and had a great helping of peppers, onions and bacon. The potatoes it came with were great! And then let's talk about these pancakes....I have no words. They were better than any ihop pancake I've had...and I love ihop. They bake the bananas and nuts inside the pancake which i love...not all places do that. I didn't want to eat as much as I did but they were so good I couldn't leave any behind. Coffee was good! And the best part....prices are great! Can't wait to go back for lunch! read more

Grabbed an early breakfast with a friend on Saturday morning. I had been to Fisher's Cafe in Fair Lawn, and I'm not sure if this place is affiliated, but they have pretty similar decor. There is a old school counter, where the kitchen is in full view, with some tables and booths in the other areas of the restaurant. I believe there is parking in the back. I got my usual breakfast staple, corned beef hash with eggs. The eggs were cooked as I asked, the corned beef hash was definitely the canned kind, which isn't bad but nothing special. This place is a hidden Gem. You walk in and automatically feel like you're transported back 25 years. The decor, picture's, and overall ambiance of the place give you the old school vibes that are hard to come by these days. I really have a love for Fishers cafe ever since I started going to the one in Fairlawn and I was thrilled to find out that there is another location is my area. I have now been here on two separate occasions and both experiences were excellent. I always order the Jersey Boy Eggs Benny and it is so delicious. I love that Fishers is consistent in serving quality food each and every time. The decor is very old school and makes me feel like i stepped back in time. The staff never lets your coffee cup get empty and always serve with a smile. Just a side note: don't wait for your check just walk up to the cash register and they will ring you rite up! read more

This is a typical diner with a chatzky kick to it. One recommendation, Only order breakfast here. It looks like they are best at making eggs benedict and flavored pancakes. I ordered a vegetable panini which lacked the vegetables and was served on a breakfast roll. The waiter also forgot one order of pancakes for our table, so when the food was served, lets just say the pregnant woman had to wait another 10 minutes for her food to arrive. The oreo pancakes were to die for! Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and don't add the syrup. The Nova Scotia was tasty and the benedict sauce was buttery. The staff was nice but just was not too thorough with things such as replacing our plates with new ones when new food came. Not too high expectations from this one. read more

This was the worst breakfast/brunch I've ever had. The service was terrible-we waited an hour for scrambled eggs, mine were smothered in cheap, processed cheese after I specifically asked to not have it served that way. The waitress got most of the order wrong, the potatoes tasted like vinegar, she kept telling us they were working on it! We had to track her down, she never came over to update us. The only edible items were the toast and sausage. We will never come back. The owner should be embarrassed. Our waitress was negligent to say the least, she also did not speak much English. read more

Came here for the first time ever. My friend and I wanted to grab breakfast and found this place on our town. We were trying to keep it healthy and it worked out. We shared whole wheat pancakes with bananas. Then we each got our own omelette. We got the Mediterranean one. I got it egg whites with avocado on top and it was so good. It was a perfect breakfast. Fisher's has been doing it for quite some time ... I can recall stopping in for milkshakes after school when I was a kid. It constantly delivers for breakfast, lunch or even dinner on the nights they choose to serve it. In a small town like Hasbrouck Heights, Fisher's fits in perfectly for the older set to go get their cup of coffee at 5am and talk about Heights Football, Yankees baseball or who knows what! Whenever the duo is back in our old stomping grounds we stop in for a guranteed good meal. It never fails. So we recently stopped on for lunch with my father and were pleased as always. Three chicken and rice soups, a couple pastrami and swiss on rye sandwiches and a turkey burger for the lady .... don't forget the side of fries. Awesome. Fisher's Cafe is a local cafe in Hasbrouck Heights. There is street parking on Boulevard, but it can get pretty busy. Looking inside, the decor is not very appealing. It definitely looks outdated. The staff is friendly here. You can sit wherever you'd like and they'll bring the menus for you. I came here for the Oversized Pancakes menu. There were many different options to choose from! I ended up going with the Banana Split. They give 3 pancakes but they aren't really oversized. It seems that they just call it oversized due to all the toppings on it that make you very full quickly. However, the pancakes itself did taste good. Unfortunately, my boyfriend ordered something for lunch and did not like it here. He said it was average, but I also remember the bacon on his sandwich was over cooked. Try to come for the breakfast food. read more

May I suggest avoiding this place. Most locals won't go in, but it does have its loyal patrons. Last time I was there I got a small pitcher of milk for my coffee that has gone bad, THREE TIMES in a row. Cute privately owned and run cafe. Small town homey feel with fresh yummy food. Only have had breakfast here buts it's awesome everytime. Try the huevas rancheros which is freaking excellent! Many local regulars sit at the bar sipping coffee and chatting. We sit right down and coffee poured within minute!!! Look forward to coming back yet again. This is a typical small town place with tchotchkes and super-outdated decor and slow service. If the food were good, I wouldn't mind. Another great experience here. My friend and I took our 2yr olds for an early lunch on a Friday. Good food - had the heuvos rancheros which were delicious! The fresh salsa and avocado were a great compliment to the eggs and black beans. A great plate of food for the price. The only complaint was service was a little slow.
