Rutherford Pancake House is definitely a popular spot, so I'd recommend arriving early if you want to avoid a wait. We got there early and were seated right away. Street parking is available, but it fills up quickly, so getting there ahead of the crowd is a good idea. The restaurant is clean, spacious, and well maintained, with separate men's and women's restrooms on both sides of the dining area, which is very convenient. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and attentive, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality and portions. Overall, it was a great breakfast experience, and we'd happily come back.
Outstanding service today... for afternoon it took about twenty minutes to get seated which passed fairly fast . Once we got our server he was kind and attentive and our food came out fairly quick. Had the chicken sandwich and it was delicious. I read reviews saying it had a little bit of chicken and I can agree but overall the sandwich was still filling. I also had the caramel latte which was perfect not overly sweet or strong. It's a great ambiance to come to with friends or family or even a date. There's alot of seating.
I had the Santa Fe Breakfast Quesadilla and it was very good. I loved the thinness of the egg in the quesadilla (perhaps some people might want more egg, but I liked it just as it was made, sort of thin like a crepe on the flour tortilla). The chorizo in the meal was also very good - I was left wanting a little more of that. I enjoyed the sour cream and their choice of salsa to go with the breakfast quesadilla too. My husband tried the Havana Benedict which he enjoyed (though I believe he wanted a little more herbs/spices to the pork, without making it saltier). I liked the hash browns but do wish they had been cooked a little crisper. Giselle was our waitress and was helpful and friendly.
PROS: Staff is friendly, home fries tasted good, place is spacious and clean, prices are great CONS: Only street parking and the red velvet pancakes did not look good and were undercooked. When I got them they looked more like salami OVERALL: If I was in the area I might come back, but with no parking and undercooked pancakes I'm cautious
Stopped by after reading great reviews and I'm so happy I did! Service was great and this place was busy on a weekday morning and I see why. My party of two was able to be seated immediately. I ordered the French toast and eggs-- it was very filling and delicious with my coffee. Would definitely stop by again.
The food was excellent! The pancakes were fluffy and they had turkey sausage and real eggs. Plenty of food. My partner had the veggie burger and thoroughly enjoyed it! Our server was busy but let us know she would be with us shortly. Very friendly and efficient. The restaurant had plenty of booths, which I prefer and was very clean. Would definitely go again!
My friend and I went in around 10am, and we got seated right away. We got attended right away, staff was nice. There was plenty of indoor seating available. We ordered the Brussels Waffle and Waffle Bishop. Food was average, nothing special. Both were $10.99, I'm not sure if I would pay that amount again to get one plain waffle and some fruit. The Brussels definitely looks a lot better with presentation than the Bishop. As for parking, Rutherford has metered parking which can be annoying when looking for any open spot.
Every few weeks, a dear friend and I meet to share a meal--breakfast or lunch--as a way to reconnect, reflect, and learn from one another. Typically, my friend travels a greater distance, so he often selects the restaurant. For me, the main intention is always to connect, regardless of where we dine. As someone who follows a vegan lifestyle, I've come to expect that my options may be limited and that I may need to order a la carte. Today, however, my friend chose The Rutherford Pancake House, and I left feeling both nourished and grateful. When I arrived before my friend, I was warmly greeted by our server, Carlos, a young man whose enthusiasm and attentiveness stood out to me right away. I shared that I was vegan and was curious if there were any suitable options. Carlos responded with genuine excitement and said, "Wait until you see the menu, we have many vegan options." I felt pleasantly surprised and appreciated his confidence and positivity. Once I looked through the menu, I saw that he was absolutely right--there were a number of vegan choices with great variety. This met a need for inclusion and ease that I often hope for when dining out. When I asked Carlos for his recommendation, he was honest in sharing that he hadn't tried many vegan dishes himself, but thoughtfully pointed out the ones he noticed were most popular. I chose The Vegan Popeye, a flavorful tofu scramble with spinach, mushrooms, garlic, and vegan Italian sausage, served with home fries and toast with vegan butter. It was delicious and satisfying--I finished the entire meal. My friend ordered the Choco Coco Pancakes (not vegan), which looked beautifully prepared and thoughtfully presented. In addition to the food, what stood out most was the care Carlos showed in creating a supportive atmosphere. When I asked for a table that was "out of the way" so my friend and I could have a private conversation, he guided me to a table that met that need for privacy. Throughout the meal, he was respectful of our space and connection--proactively refilling coffee and Pepsi, checking in at just the right times, and never interrupting our flow. I felt seen, respected, and truly supported in the experience we hoped to create. Although I rarely write reviews, I felt moved to share this one. Both The Rutherford Pancake House and Carlos exceeded my expectations, and I'm grateful for the thoughtfulness, honesty, and care that shaped our visit.
I found this breakfast place that had high reviews so decided to check it out. The restaurant itself is huge (there were 2 dining areas) and overall was clean. I tried a savoury dish and sweet dish. I had the strawberry shortcake pancakes which had whip cream, strawberries, and a sweet strawberry drizzle. It was very sweet, which was expected. The actual pancakes were good. Overall, it was nothing special. I also tried a classic breakfast with eggs, bacon, potatoes and bread. This whole dish was far too salty and the bacon was chewy (not crispy). The potatoes also had an earthy flavour. I also ordered a hot chocolate which I don't think had any milk in it. It tasted like water with the packaged cocoa (like Nesquik). The service was excellent though, server was nice.
Right on Main Street! Parking right around the corner at parking at Kip. Super cool tunnel from Kip parking garage to get to Main Street . The menu doesn't overwhelm you with choices and you know you're eating good family style brunch food. Kids loved their chicken quesadilla and kids chocolate chip pancakes. Good portion size and good service. My parents loved the coffee and garden veggie omelette. Really great place. Thank you!

Abi greeted us with such warmth the moment we walked in. He listened to our dietary needs and guided us toward dishes that fit perfectly -- and they ended up being some of the best parts of the meal. Edgar was our server, and he was fantastic. Attentive, personable, and consistently on top of everything we needed without ever feeling intrusive. The food was delicious, and the whole experience matched the welcoming energy Abi set at the start. We left happy, satisfied, and already planning to come back. I want to add that the vegan waffles and pancakes were the best I have had in the United States. read more
I visited the Rutherford Pancake House today with my family after traveling back from NYC. The street parking in the downtown is a little challenging but if you arrive early enough, you can usually find a spot nearby. When we walked inside, we were seated immediately. I ordered the Garden Gathering omelette which normally comes with a side of homefries and toast. I substituted the homefries for a cup of fresh fruit. I also tried a small pancake from my mom which was very fluffy and light. The portions were pretty good and the food was fresh. The prices are reasonable. Service was prompt and the food came out fast once we ordered. When we were leaving there was a pretty large crowd waiting to be seated. Overall, it's a solid, classic breakfast spot right in the heart of downtown Rutherford. read more
My daughters and I found the Rutherford Pancake house on our way home from the city. It is located in the downtown area with street parking. We arrive and we're seated immediately. The restaurant was very spacious with lots of seating. Our waiter came to our table shortly after we were seated took our beverage order the fresh squeezed orange juice was delicious and definitely a must. My daughters had the eggs Benedict which was very good and the Santa Fe quesadillas. They both enjoyed their breakfast. I had the huevos rancheros. I love these for breakfast and they aren't on many menus so ai had to have they. They did not disappoint. They were delicious and served with soft tortillas. I would go back her again if we were in the area. The menu also had gluten free and vegan options so something for everyone. read more

Glad I got to go here with my son finally. The staff was professional. Our omelet and pancakes were delicious. It's getting cold outside. Make sure to request a booth/table far enough from the entrance that you don't feel the biting wind when the door opens. read more

I really enjoyed Rutherford Pancake House! It was a great little breakfast spot! We got an omelette and the pancakes with berries, along with a side of sausage and Taylor ham. Both were very good! We sat right in front of the window. It is a nice large space! Our waitress was very friendly and made sure we had what we needed! read more

Rutherford Pancake House is a local Rutherford classic, so naturally, I had to wait around half an hour for a table for 3 for Sunday brunch. While that is not a crazy wait, they did initially say that we would only have to wait 15-20 minutes, so their estimate was quite off... That being said, once we were seated, the service speed after ordering was pretty fast, and the food was pretty good. I ordered the Nutella pancakes, which were decent- nothing too special considering the ingredients. Of course, the Nutella made it filling/sweet/good though. I also tried the Mexicali Omelette, which was thinner and smaller than most; it could have had some more fillings but was not bad. The restaurant has a classic American brunch vibe with lots of seating inside, though as mentioned, it can get quite busy on the weekends. Overall, I would still say that Rutherford Pancake House is a decent choice for a classic American brunch if you happen to be in the Rutherford area. read more
In my recent NYC / NJ trip with my friends, we discovered Rutherford Pancake House from a local recommendation for a hearty breakfast before the Manchester United Arsenal football match. As New Jersey is the diner capital of the USA, of course we had to visit a diner and I am glad it was Rutherford Pancake House. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by the staff and seated immediately despite it being a Saturday morning. The overall interior of the diner was warm and rustic with all the unique pictures to pair alongside the classic table settings. The menu is compromised of classic diner options from eggs to pancakes to Eggs Benedict. Despite the wide selection, I had to go for the Buttermilk Pancakes. The pancakes were very fluffy with the right crisp exterior that I prefer in pancakes. The whipped butter pairs well the provided syrup. In addition, you have the option to add fruits and sweet confectionery items for a small $1.00 to $2.00 extra! Not to mention, for an extra $1.75 you can also add eggs cooked to however you prefer! I felt right at home at this diner and I do wish we have places like this in Toronto! read more
It's been quite some time since I've updated my review for the Rutherford Pancake House and since then they've renovated. Their space is much bigger and they updated their booths so it's a much nicer experience where you don't feel every movement of the person sitting behind you. The food is still pretty good. Standard breakfast eats. I've updated my go to and will usually order the Mexicali omelet with egg whites and a side of turkey sausage. It's so good! I've had the oatmeal and yogurt parfait there as well, and they are both delicious and generous portions. Speaking of generous portions - their kids meals are always a hit with plenty of food to go around. The chocolate chip silver dollar pancakes and scrambled eggs are a great go to. As per my last review, it is still very busy (which is expected of a delicious breakfast place) so I try my best to go during off times. The wait staff are always very lovely and attentive. Thank you for your delicious breakfast food Rutherford Pancake House! read more

I really appreciate how quick the service was. Granted, they did not see me until my entire party was present of three however, when everyone was there, they were very attentive at getting a sack quickly. I will say the food was tasty and well priced while also being quickly delivered, and With exceptional service. I would also add that the ambience was very mom and pop shop which allowed for a very lax brunch. read more

I love this place. The food is always good. I've never had a bad meal here and they a really cool ambience with old black and white photos of the town on the wall. They are fast and polite with their service and food is cooked reasonably quick. The only gripes I have would be they close at 3PM. I used to love getting breakfast in the middle of the night after a night out on the town with the wife or a late stack of pancakes after a movie. That and they have no wifi, if you sit farther in there is virtually no cellular signal. But those are tiny issues. Their prices are very reasonable too. I like bringing my kids on the weekends. It's more of a local haunt but I'd recommend it for anyone outside of town that wants really good breakfast. Their bacon is cut and prepped in house and so is their sausage which is magical. read more
Imagine you're in charge of planning family brunch for your parents, in-laws, and all your siblings. Now imagine that group also includes a vegan, several vegetarians, someone of the carnivore persuasion, and a picky eater who only trusts the consistency of McDonald's. Enter: Rutherford Pancake House. We were seated promptly (definitely make a reservation, as they get PACKED for good reason!) and our server deftly handled every request with charm and humor. Not only that, but every member of our cast of characters easily found something to satiate them. The menu is more stacked than a fresh batch of pancakes. The next time Auntie Helen and your third cousin Kyle are in town, you know where to take them. read more
Rutherford Pancake House, just like my review of its sister restaurant (Maywood Pancake House), are 5 stars. The FRESH SQUEEZED orange juice was like sitting in a Florida orange grove, while enjoying the freshness of its product. I ordered the French Toast Americain and it was amazing. You really don't even need the maple syrup, because the sweet cream cheese, between each slice, made this item mouthwatering and thoroughly enjoyable. I highly recommend it. The service is top notch and I was in awe, as I noticed their military precision, with handling the amount of customers that wait long times to be seated. You will definitely enjoy your meal at Rutherford Pancake House and will, most definitely return, because they have a few items that need to be experienced and savored. read more
Today was my first time coming here for brunch. I came with my mom and daughter who has celiac disease (Gluten allergy) after reviewing the menu, I knew she'd love it here. The ambiance was very lovely. I enjoyed it. It seemed very homey to me. The guy who helped us was very nice.. and was on point with our orders and his service was just good overall. Although he got busy in between us eating and leaving. This is an overall nice place. Very family friendly and the kids will LOVE IT! My daughter doesn't get to splurge often because of her allergies and she couldn't stop talking about how delicious everything was. We are planning another visit in a few weeks!! read more

Service was good, our waitress was very attentive. The food didn't take long to come out. French toast was "soggy" towards the middle but the outer parts had a great texture. The eggs were/cheese & potatoes made a great combo! The bacon (not pictured) was cooked to perfection. Hubby's omelette didn't last long ... he said it was very good! A little let down because they don't have mimosas, but I should have double checked that before going Ambiance was pretty cool. Very calm. Not too much going on at one time. Overall, I'd give it a 7/10. read more
