The street parking in the downtown is a little challenging but if you arrive early enough, you can usually find a spot nearby. When we walked inside, we were seated immediately. I ordered the Garden Gathering omelette which normally comes with a side of homefries and toast. I substituted the homefries for a cup of fresh fruit. I also tried a small pancake from my mom which was very fluffy and light. The portions were pretty good and the food was fresh. The prices are reasonable. I had the Santa Fe Breakfast Quesadilla and it was very good. I loved the thinness of the egg in the quesadilla (perhaps some people might want more egg, but I liked it just as it was made, sort of thin like a crepe on the flour tortilla). The chorizo in the meal was also very good - I was left wanting a little more of that. I enjoyed the sour cream and their choice of salsa to go with the breakfast quesadilla too. My husband tried the Havana Benedict which he enjoyed (though I believe he wanted a little more herbs/spices to the pork, without making it saltier). I was really looking forward to eating at this establishment as, my daughter and I like to visit here whenever we are in town. Unfortunately after what I experienced today, I will not be coming back or recommending this eatery to anyone else. I ordered my usual meal when visiting here, which included an Egg White Omlet and requested spinach and cheddar cheese to be added to the omlet. Egg whites have a different taste , texture and color when made into an omelet verses full yellow eggs. How I know? I MAKE THEM ALL OF THE TIME. When I received my order I noticed that the omelet was not the egg white omlet I requested. I mentioned it to the server, who left and came back and asked if I wanted them to make an egg white omlet, I told her I would try and eat what was provided. When I could not stomach it, I requested that they make me the egg white omlet with cheddar cheese because the cheese in the omelet was not what requested. Five minutes later, a manager, comes out and explains that what I had was an egg white omelet and the reason the omelet was yellow was because of the spinach; than proceeded to tell me the cheese was a cheddar cheese they use to make it appear "white"... When I disagreed with him, he rudely cut me off and stood his ground. I then told him that I didn't want the omlet so he proceeds to take my ENTIRE plate of food which included hash browns and turkey sausage if which I was eating. Lastly when the check was finally provided this manager abruptly put the check on the table and kept walking. After I confirmed the amount of the check, i paid shortly after and my daughter and I left. This was the most unprofessional and distasteful service I have very experienced. read more

As someone who follows a vegan lifestyle, I've come to expect that my options may be limited and that I may need to order a la carte. Today, however, my friend chose The Rutherford Pancake House, and I left feeling both nourished and grateful. When I arrived before my friend, I was warmly greeted by our server, Carlos, a young man whose enthusiasm and attentiveness stood out to me right away. I shared that I was vegan and was curious if there were any suitable options. Carlos responded with genuine excitement and said, "Wait until you see the menu, we have many vegan options." I felt pleasantly surprised and appreciated his confidence and positivity. Once I looked through the menu, I saw that he was absolutely right--there were a number of vegan choices with great variety. This met a need for inclusion and ease that I often hope for when dining out. When I asked Carlos for his recommendation, he was honest in sharing that he hadn't tried many vegan dishes himself, but thoughtfully pointed out the ones he noticed were most popular. I chose The Vegan Popeye, a flavorful tofu scramble with spinach, mushrooms, garlic, and vegan Italian sausage, served with home fries and toast with vegan butter. It was delicious and satisfying--I finished the entire meal. My friend ordered the Choco Coco Pancakes (not vegan), which looked beautifully prepared and thoughtfully presented. In addition to the food, what stood out most was the care Carlos showed in creating a supportive atmosphere. When I asked for a table that was "out of the way" so my friend and I could have a private conversation, he guided me to a table that met that need for privacy. Throughout the meal, he was respectful of our space and connection--proactively refilling coffee and Pepsi, checking in at just the right times, and never interrupting our flow. My friend and I went in around 10am, and we got seated right away. We got attended right away, staff was nice. There was plenty of indoor seating available. We ordered the Brussels Waffle and Waffle Bishop. Food was average, nothing special. Both were $10.99, I'm not sure if I would pay that amount again to get one plain waffle and some fruit. The Brussels definitely looks a lot better with presentation than the Bishop. As for parking, Rutherford has metered parking which can be annoying when looking for any open spot. read more

I found this breakfast place that had high reviews so decided to check it out. The restaurant itself is huge (there were 2 dining areas) and overall was clean. I tried a savoury dish and sweet dish. I had the strawberry shortcake pancakes which had whip cream, strawberries, and a sweet strawberry drizzle. It was very sweet, which was expected. The actual pancakes were good. Overall, it was nothing special. I also tried a classic breakfast with eggs, bacon, potatoes and bread. This whole dish was far too salty and the bacon was chewy (not crispy). The potatoes also had an earthy flavour. I also ordered a hot chocolate which I don't think had any milk in it. It tasted like water with the packaged cocoa (like Nesquik). Coffees for the 3 people with me came as ordered - 1 black, 1 with almond milk (already in it), and the one who wanted cream got a little pitcher of that w her coffee. I opted for decaf, but with my meal, and that tasted fresh and hot, perfect. Everyone had something different. I loved my Florentine eggs Benedict w/o hollandaise; husband liked his broccoli and cheddar omelet; son was happy with his eggs and bacon; DIL had turkey sausage with egg whites on, I think, a croissant and was very pleased. Mine came with home fries which were fresh but not crispy. I didn't eat most of them, in anticipation of the pancakes! I can't resist, but never want the whole thing, pancakes or French toast with whipped cream. We ordered "for the table," the pancakes and berries, SO good! We got 4 delicious pancakes, with fresh blueberries and sliced strawberries and 5 dollops of good whipped cream. Food very good, service excellent, prices reasonable for the portions and quality. Rutherford Pancake House is a local Rutherford classic, so naturally, I had to wait around half an hour for a table for 3 for Sunday brunch. While that is not a crazy wait, they did initially say that we would only have to wait 15-20 minutes, so their estimate was quite off... That being said, once we were seated, the service speed after ordering was pretty fast, and the food was pretty good. I ordered the Nutella pancakes, which were decent- nothing too special considering the ingredients. Of course, the Nutella made it filling/sweet/good though. I also tried the Mexicali Omelette, which was thinner and smaller than most; it could have had some more fillings but was not bad. The restaurant has a classic American brunch vibe with lots of seating inside, though as mentioned, it can get quite busy on the weekends. The menu is compromised of classic diner options from eggs to pancakes to Eggs Benedict. Despite the wide selection, I had to go for the Buttermilk Pancakes. The pancakes were very fluffy with the right crisp exterior that I prefer in pancakes. The whipped butter pairs well the provided syrup. In addition, you have the option to add fruits and sweet confectionery items for a small $1.00 to $2.00 extra! Not to mention, for an extra $1.75 you can also add eggs cooked to however you prefer! I've had the oatmeal and yogurt parfait there as well, and they are both delicious and generous portions. Speaking of generous portions - their kids meals are always a hit with plenty of food to go around. The chocolate chip silver dollar pancakes and scrambled eggs are a great go to. I love this place. The food is always good. I've never had a bad meal here and they a really cool ambience with old black and white photos of the town on the wall. They are fast and polite with their service and food is cooked reasonably quick. The only gripes I have would be they close at 3PM. I used to love getting breakfast in the middle of the night after a night out on the town with the wife or a late stack of pancakes after a movie. That and they have no wifi, if you sit farther in there is virtually no cellular signal. But those are tiny issues. Their prices are very reasonable too. I like bringing my kids on the weekends. It's more of a local haunt but I'd recommend it for anyone outside of town that wants really good breakfast. Today was my first time coming here for brunch. I came with my mom and daughter who has celiac disease (Gluten allergy) after reviewing the menu, I knew she'd love it here.
