I love this place ! Best pancakes in Rutherford! Yes I know there's a "pancake house" here... I said what I said ! Their pancakes are uniquely crepe-like, and cooked to perfection every time. I think we've been here about 5-6 times now. We love coming here. The staff brings a really welcoming vibe, the service is always efficient, the music is good, and the layout is good with nice big windows and tons of natural light - a great setting for eating breakfast. It's a really nice place to chill and treat yourself to a cozy relaxing meal. This may have been one of the best breakfasts we have had in awhile. Parking is a little tough but well worth the crew block walk. We wanted to sit outside so bad but it looked like it was going to rain any minute. With minimal wait, we got a table inside. Very casual and comfortable setting. EVERYONE was so helpful and courteous. I got the omelet with spinach and feta and added avocado to it. As usual, I got a side of corned beef hash. This was hands down, one of the top 3 omelets I've ever had. The ingredients were fresh. Portions were perfect and the price point couldn't be beat. Came by with some friends for lunch and had an overall really good meal. My chicken cheesesteak with mushrooms and onions was really good on nice italian bread, would easily get again. My friend got the regular cheesesteak which was also solid. We shared home fries and they were good worth getting as a side for sure. The hot coffee was pretty average and I don't think they refill you or if they do, they didn't ask to. I have eaten at Steve and Andrea's on several occasions. Every time I go, the service is quick and the waiters are friendly and responsive. Today, we ate outside, which was a first & the restaurant itself tends to fill up because it is a small area. I do not believe they take reservations for parties smaller than 4, but they turn around tables fairly quickly. I always order the banana pancakes which I love! I really dislike how other places make their banana pancakes - with large pieces or chunks. I believe they almost purée it and put it in their batter which nicely disperses the banana flavor throughout. I really enjoy my food & experience every time I visit. On my most recent trip, I ordered a Taylor Ham egg breakfast sandwich on a roll with cheese and potatoes on the side. They make a damn good sandwich here: the roll is soft, the ham is salty and delicious, and the egg is perfectly cooked but not so drippy that it's tough to eat. I loved my brunch at Steve & Andrea's Restaurant. I got the chocolate chip pancake combo with 2 eggs. The scramble was perfect, the chocolate was perfect, the subtle chew on the pancake reminded me of the chocolate crepes I had in Paris. My husband got the blueberry pancakes and a side of home fries. The blueberries weren't too sweet but they're not in season. He felt the pancakes needed a bit of salt and to be sweeter -- I did not agree. I would pass on the home fries. They are somewhat like a lightly griddled mashed potato. They weren't crispy and didn't really hit. The servers were very sweet. There was nice outdoor seating but we opted to sit inside. Sausages were just okay, nothing outstanding about them. Amazing coffee and free refills. Service was lacking however, a lot of rotating servers. It's understandable, it was a full house. We were sitting across the condiments so we simply grabbed it ourselves. Ambiance was solid, definitely a busy restaurant around 11:30am on a Saturday. Food still came out pretty quick. Very noisy so keep that in mind. The apple juice they provide is in a kid sized bottle so also keep that in mind; wouldn't drop 3-4 dollars for a bottle of apple juice that's meant for a kid. Love this little mom and pop restaurant. Everyone is super pleasant and the food is fantastic. Came in this morning with my boyfriend for breakfast and enjoyed the entire experience. Each of us had coffee, and we split a few things. We started with blueberry pancakes which were phenomenal. We also ordered the Denver omelet and Huevos rancheros. The omelet was large and very tasteful. Came with a side of bread as well. The Huevos rancheros was also really great. Overall had a great time. I have lived in Rutherford for over 30 years now and I had never gone to this restaurant even though it is close to where I live. OMG, what I have been denying myself without knowing it. I had ordered an omelet and expected frankly the same boring flat tasting omelet you get everywhere else, where it supposedly contains vegetables, cheese and perhaps some meat, but it all ends up tasting like nothing. The first thing that registered on my taste buds was the absolutely fresh ingredients and then the flavor. My goodness, the flavor. You could detect the texture and flavor of each ingredient in every bite. It was outstanding. I have not had such a satisfying breakfast in, well, I don't recall when I last had such a satisfying breakfast. And on top of it, lovely, attentive staff, the owner on site, everything clean, price point was reasonable. Honestly, it was a perfect experience for me. Made my week, not just my day. I almost felt like I was home and my mom was placing breakfast before me to enjoy. What an experience. I will definitely be going back for more. Staff is definitely taking all necessary precautions with COVID. Everyone wore a mask, they were wiping down tables and they even had some outdoor seating. We opted to eat inside and I always go with my normal Venetian omelette. My friend and I both got one and they're consistently delicious. Fresh spinach, chopped tomato and delicious melted mozzarella. All accompanied by some perfectly seasoned home fries. Yumm. We also always share a short stack of chocolate chip pancakes. Their pancakes are more like great crepes. Nice and thin and super tasty. Overall, this is a great breakfast and lunch spot. Quality is always unchanging. We came here recently based on the reviews on Yelp, and it is decently good. Is it wow amazing? Sadly no. Some things to know. This place is TINY!!! Like SUPER TINY! I honestly have no idea how they stay in business lol! They have 13 tables inside, and some bar seating. Somewhere between 35-45 ish customers max at a time. We came here on Sunday, they told us 20 minute wait, but it was more like 7, which is always a positive! We came with our kiddo, and they seated us at a 2 person table. I will add that the staff here is smart! They put our dishes as far away from the kid as possible! Kuddos to them! They also sat us 3 feet from the door. No biggie! But I am sure that if you want a table further from the door and do not mind waiting, they probably wouldn't mind either. One issue I did have, and it could totally be an accident, but we ordered our food about 5 minutes before the table next to us, and they received their meal 3 minutes before we did... Nothing too crazy, but food should go in the order it was received... We didn't order anything that would have caused a delay. Onto the good stuff. The food is pretty gosh darn good. We ordered Blueberry pancakes, which were very good, and full of tons of blueberry. Pancakes and eggs which were very good as well. Wife got a potato and egg wrap which she really enjoyed. I also got a side of home fries and Taylor Ham. I would like to say, the pancakes look as yummy in the pictures as they do IRL. But know this, it is more of a crepe batter, and they are fairly thin... So if you were looking for a super filling breakfast, get an extra side or 2... But otherwise, all our dishes were pretty good. Staff is friendly. They come around every 10 minutes with a pot of coffee filling up everyone's cup! Which I really like! More places need to do that. As soon as you got up, someone came and started cleaning off the table which is nice! About 2 minutes later, another group was seated there. The food was great however the service felt non existent like I was invisible. The wait staff didn't refill for coffee and we had to wait 10 mins for the check after finally making a check gesture. I found the breakfast spot from a Instagram post. One of the main reason I came here was for the gluten free pancakes. I asked if the syrup is safe for those with celiac and there was a lot of hesitation. I know it's a risk I am taking for cross contamination. But at least knowing if it's gluten free syrup is a huge deal. I watched them walk to the back an check the bottle for the ingredients. If you going you won't have the best service. There won't be a refill There won't be a check in Think of it like a glorifying bagel spot. read more

I am always A fan of mom and pop shops and this place fits the bill perfectly. I went there for breakfast. This is for sure a place that seems to lead with price first. Prices are very reasonable and the locals really seemed to like that. Food: very reasonable for the price. Really not fancy just freshly made and customized to what I asked for. Coffee: nothing special, but did require cream to drink. I just wish more places serve good coffee as there isn't too much of a price difference serving good coffee vs okish coffee Ambiance: can be hit or miss for some people. The place is small and all tables are crammed in the middle. I could hear nyc accent, Italian accent and typical Jersey accent. I can make out specific conversations across the place. Not ideal if you want to have a conversation with someone though. Bottom line would I come here again..... yes. For good food and fast service. But not a place I would frequent too much. Steve & Andrea's was always on our "Top Breakfast List" and I am pleased to write and post this upgraded review. Saturday morning, we got a late start this morning yet still had Steve and Andrea's on our Go-To List for breakfast. So, on a busy morning at around 10:30AM, we parked a few store fronts away on Park Ave, Rutherford, walked into the cafe and got the last table for 2. The place was packed yet our server got us both coffee within minutes of being seated! Oatmeal for my wife with blueberries. It was dense and tasty with a good amount of the fresh fruit on top. For me, the pancakes. Two very large fluffy and delicious pancakes filled my plate. Soft butter was served on the side, syrup was already on the table. We were on our second cup of coffee and it was a delicious, smoothe blend. Our server returned often to check in on us and replenish our coffee cups as well. Frankly, this particular Saturday morning showed what Steve and Andrea's can do to make it RIGHT all the way! Our seating was comfortable, the area well maintained, and the service top notch! Love this cozy café for breakfast. My mom & sister request breakfast here every weekend when they are in town from Houston. Their thin crepe like pancakes are always a hit! Only thing that I would ask is that they offer some kind of non-dairy substitute for milk so I can have coffee with my breakfast. I consistently find myself at Steve & Andrea's whenever I'm craving a good breakfast/brunch place. It's definitely the hot spot for locals. The room is decently sized, but when it gets busy, it gets pretty packed. The service can be a bit slow, but my husband and I are never in a rush so we don't mind it. I've never EVER liked breakfast foods, especially pancakes, but this place has changed my world. My husband and I always end up ordering a stack of pancakes or french toast, even though we'll both order separate sandwiches or dishes. The Bob's tuna sandwich is one of my favorites!! Well balanced flavors with the hot cherry peppers, fresh ingredients, and the bread is the most delicious part.
