The dining area has booth and table seating with lots of oak furnishings. My friend and I enjoyed our first dining experience here for the quality attention, service, and excellent meal! We ordered: -Meatball vodka sauce pizza - amazing dough with a cross between focaccia and Italian bread consistency. The dollop of ricotta also made it a big hit. -Sea Bass with squash risotto - tender fish and the squash risotto had a touch of cinnamon. -10oz filet mignon with a side of spinach - served medium well and great flavor! -Truffle fries for the table - absolutely a must side for our meals. This place can get very busy and it can get kind of hard hearing your party because of everyone chatting around you. There are two areas - the bar and the dining room - both were busy on a Saturday evening. We had a large table in the dining room and while the table was big; the space between the banquette and the table was a bit tight for our party. Valet parking available. Returned to The Oak House in Oradell again last night with my neighbors. So glad that I / we did. The food and the service were excellent. We started with the fresh burrata as an appetizer. We then ordered chicken pot pies (fresh and hot throughout, one of the best ones that I have tasted) and a steak sandwich. We topped it off with a warm chocolate brownie with graham cracker ice cream for dessert. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals from start to finish. First time here and we decided on Happy Hour which was from 3:00-6:00pm. You can sit at the bar or any of the booths in the bar area. They have a nice size parking lot, so you won't have issues with parking at all. The happy hour menu is delicious and the drinks are mixed perfectly. The bartenders were super attentive and informative about the menu. We did order one thing off the regular menu which was the Tuna Tar Tar and it was insanely delicious. So I have no regrets. We tried the wings, coconut popcorn shrimp & the meatball parmigiana sliders, everything came out hot, fresh and yummy. Wasn't expecting to come here as the original place I was going to go to closed and therefore I had to find a new place to eat lunch. However after my experience here, I am glad that it worked out. First the ambience of the place looked great. Then the staff was super friendly. I didn't have to wait long to be seated as well. Went here with some girlfriends and had a fantastic time! We sat at a table near the bar and our waiter, Tommy, was amazing. He was so fun and attentive--he even knew our names and brought me a hot towel with lemon after we devoured our wings! We started with delicious appetizers, including the wings and the spinach and artichoke dip, which were perfect for sharing among the five of us. We then split the incredible chickpea salad and a burger, both of which were fantastic. My friend loved the spicy rigatoni with burrata, too. Attended a dinner for the 1st time on a Tues night. Didn't realize that they offer Happy Hour, but only if you sit at the bar. We had an early dinner at 4pm, so it was not busy, which you would think the service would have been top notch, however, it was slow and they forgot my salad and also took forever to serve their bread pudding, but according to my husband, the bread pudding was worth the wait. My husband and I went to the Oak House for Brunch on a snowy Sunday morning and boy were we delighted! The restaurant itself is a gorgeous modern cabin style building and decor. It is both homie and elegant. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. And the food was absolutely delicious. We didn't order any alcoholic beverages even though we went for lunch so I cannot say much about those. But if I had to guess by the quality of the food, those are probably great too. We ordered mozzarella sticks and an artichoke dip for the table. The homemade mozzarella sticks were absolutely delicious. The dip was the least satisfying of our dishes as I found it a little under seasoned, however it was still tasty. I then had the steak sandwich which was phenomenal with a side of addictive sweet potato fries, and my husband had the steak and eggs which he devoured in seconds! The Oak House has great decor and friendly staff, but If you're looking for a high end restaurant, this is not it. We started off with smash burger egg rolls which were a special. They were alright, the sauce was enjoyable. Next, we shared the spicy rigatoni and it was cooked well and tasted great. My wife got the 10 oz Filet with Brussel Sprouts. The filet was stringy and grossed her out and the brussel sprouts were very undercooked. I ordered the 16 oz ribeye with grilled asparagus. The ribeye was decent and the asparagus was extremely undercooked. For dessert, I ordered an espresso martini with the dessert special. Both were amazing. Then we went to the bar for a drink where we were basically ignored for 15 minutes by three bartenders. When we complained to management, he barely wanted to be bothered so he just walked out. Visited the Oak House for happy hour on a Sunday. It's located in what used to be a Charlie Brown's Steakhouse. Fortunately, they've retained the parking lot. It's a nice restaurant, with lots of wood furnishings. We ordered drinks and basically everything on the happy hour menu, which included crispy olives, coconut shrimp, meatball sliders, pulled pork tacos, margarita pizza, wings, and cheeseburger egg rolls. My favorites were the cheeseburger egg rolls and wings. The rest was OK. The meatball sliders were a little bit mushy. The drinks i had were also OK. Service was quick. Well, I went to The Oak House in Oradell. But before I note my experience, was this restaurant called something else 3 years ago? after the frozen food Charlie Brown was there? I wore a simple mini dress and high heel boots. Neitherless to say I was super overly dressed. I was blown away by the aspect of the people, very different from what ever this was 3 years ago. The menu was ( Bareburger has a better menu). The drinks Chipotle Jalapeño Margarita tasted as if it was done by my grandson. I ordered the fish tacos, never had such tasteless dry tacos in my life. My boyfriend ordered some type of lasagna with no meat, which probably came from a box. By the way forgot to mentioned that these two Michelin plates took more than 1/2 hour to reach our table. The sitting was different and awkward, and by 9:00 the tables in the front were empty. Overall, what ever this was 3 years ago, I'm not sure what happened, I will never go back. I should have gone to Ridgewood or Ora down the block. Furthermore, I am not sure why Valet parking is needed to eat a burger at this joint. If you like multiple dipping sauces, they also included salsa and sour cream - the best of multiple worlds! The chicken parm plate had two full size patties! It was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside with fair sheet of golden brown mozzarella cheese. I didn't even realize this Italian dish was actually organic! The steak sandwich was served with a heaping pile of shredded lettuce and garlic aioli sauce. While I was typically expecting to have a A-1 with my hoagie, I was perfectly fine with the garlic aioli sauce instead. It was a neat variation. We came here to celebrate a family members bday. It was a nice dinner at an upscale restaurant. The food was all delicious and prepared well but we were too distracted to take photos of the food except dessert! I only remembered to take photos because they lit some sparklers on the dessert which cued me in haha! This is going to be lengthy but let me start with that we dined here on Valentine's Day & had made a reservation about two weeks out. When we arrived we saw we had to valet park, ok not ideal but not a deal breaker. When we had made the reservations there was no mention of a prefix menu. We felt kind of duped but decided that now we don't have to decide if we want an app or dessert haha! We had not one, not two but three waiters! They were all working this one small area of the restaurant. Seems ideal to have someone always there to help yes? Not when each one comes over and asks the same questions you just answered. It got to be chaotic and annoying after. One of our waiters said we needed to order everything at once and they'll space it out. Okay, cool. We order our apps and entrees. We also ordered our desserts. There was three listed but they ran out of the creme brûlée so I ordered the cheesecake & my bf ordered the tiramisu. When it came time for dessert, they asked what we wanted... umm we already ordered. Oh but now they ran out of tiramisu. Why have us order at the beginning if you're not going to hold those desserts for us? As for the food, the burrata was fine. The bread that came with it was pitiful. I was saving half of the burrata for my pasta and all three waiters kept trying to clear the plate. The filet mignon tacos were ruined by the shell. It should've been a soft shell but they warmed it and they were chewy and off putting. Chicken parm - pretty much saved the meal! Chicken was perfectly crispy and tasty. The pasta on the side was overloaded with Parmesan cheese and ruined the pasta for me. My bf loved his roasted chicken and said it was very tender. The main issue with this dish was the way it was plated. The juice from the chicken was layed onto the mashed potatoes. It should have been on a flat plate and not a bowl type plate. Trying to cut chicken while laying on a bed on mashed potatoes... messy & stupid. Desserts did taste good but still annoyed by the whole order now and then by the end oops we don't have what you wanted. You can tell this place was a little unorganized and maybe poorly planned to deal with a busy Valentine's Day. Oh and don't get me started with the 3 wick candle hanging over the edge of a ledge in the entry way area. What a fire hazard! To have an open flame like that where anyone can touch it or knock it over.... Who is in charge here??? If you made it this far you might be wondering why I still gave 4 stars. That's because I am giving them some grace since it was a busy holiday for dining out. The entrees themselves were good. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar for drinks and dinner. The lighting is phenomenal, low lights with intermittent soft lighting - they've got it right and it creates a lovely intimate atmosphere. My boyfriend had a sangria which he said was great. We ordered burrata as an appetizer to share which was served with grape tomatoes and a balsamic dressing and triangle mini toasts. Truly delicious! We both opted for Caesar salads, one with shrimp that were a good size and were grilled to perfection. The salad was a solid choice, tasty and filling. I'm really sad to be writing this review because I genuinely love The Oak House and have had an incredible experience here before. I was so excited to bring some of my closest friends after previously visiting with my boyfriend, but unfortunately, this visit was extremely disappointing from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, something felt off. I'm not sure if they were short staffed or if many of the servers were new, but the service was incredibly slow. We were told upfront that we had about a two hour time limit, which was totally fine, so we made sure to place our orders quickly. Even so, it took over an hour for our food to arrive...and when it did, several items were missing. One of my friends, who is 8 1/2 months pregnant, didn't receive her food until about 20 minutes after the rest of us were served. During that time, we repeatedly tried to get our server's attention. When we did, we were brushed off with "just another minute." Eventually we asked for her food to be boxed to go. There was no apology or explanation.....our server essentially dropped the food and the to go box on the table and rushed away. Throughout the meal, our waters were never refilled, sodas weren't refilled either, and the food quality was inconsistent. One friend ordered a steak rare and it came out completely raw with so much fat and not cut. Another ordered medium and received an extremely rare steak as well. Toward the end of our time slot, we were left sitting with the check for at least 20 minutes with no one checking on us. When someone finally came over, I just handed the check over because we had already been waiting so long. One of my friends was still waiting on a dessert that was supposed to come with her meal and eventually had to go up to the host stand herself to ask about it. Overall, this experience was heartbreaking. I really like this restaurant and want to come back, but this visit was chaotic, stressful, and disappointing....especially given how much I hyped it up to my friends based on my past experience. Really excited for my first Mother's Day brunch but unfortunately I couldn't celebrate here. We found out they were only offering a buffet when we sat down. This might have been okay except for the exorbitant prices, $50 for adults and $25 for children. Most brunch entrees are around $20 so to spend almost double seemed insane! When I made my reservation I specifically asked about a children's menu and was told it was the same for brunch as dinner. The gentleman I spoke to named a few dishes, which I knew would work for my nephews. There was no mention of a buffet. In speaking with the manager she said the buffet information was posted on their website and Instagram; this was not true. I went back to their website to see if I somehow missed it - Nope! Checked their Instagram, which you shouldn't assume your guests are going to look at (Yelp is more my go-to) and their last post was from March! The Oak House lived up to ALLLL of my expectations when we went out for my wife's birthday dinner recently. For a Thursday evening the restaurant was bustling with all types of parties - families, friends, date night goers - it really was a restaurant for all occasions. The restaurant was relatively lively, but not loud at all. Also, the decor and setting was cozy, but casual and not overly romantic where you couldn't just come here for a night out with friends. Prior to arriving, I had already done my research as their menu was readily available on their website and we wasted absolutely no time and ordered the following: Crab Cake Crispy Chicken Parm Hot Honey Pizza Rib Eye Steak with Truffle Fries Sauteed Spinach Grilled Asparagus Brussels Sprouts w/ Bacon Let me just sum it all up. It was ALL...and I seriously mean ALL...delicious! Not a single complaint about any of the dishes we ordered. The chicken parm was massive, but fantastic. If you love roni cups, then you'll love the Hot Honey Pizza - which had a slight kick to it. Crab Cake - seriously, who doesn't love that? The Rib Eye Steak - cooked to perfection. The spinach, asparagus and brussels sprouts sides - even your kids will like it. That's how good it was. We really, really enjoyed the food here and loved the atmosphere. I can totally see us coming back one day or bringing friends/family. The only downside to the evening was the blah service from our waiter. He never came back to see how we were doing and just seemed like he wasn't all that into serving us, but he wasn't outwardly rude or anything like that. Dinner at the Oak House tonight was spectacular. Started with French Onion Soup no bread and a crisp on the Cheese and it was perfectly executed with the crisped cheese placed atop the soup and not at the bottom of the soup bowl which usually occurs when ordered without bread. Kudos to staff. Colossal Shrimp Cocktail was good but not as good as it usually is. Shrimp were not Colossal and were 13-15's at best and lacked their normal pop and flavor. Up next was the Prime Rib Prefix Dinner served with a slightly thickened A jus, Mash Potatoes, Salad, and Dessert. The 16 oz Prime Rib was seasoned and prepared medium rare to perfection, Mash Potatoes could have been more mashed and creamier but had real potato flavor and with some melted butter and fork action, I did the fix table side and wha la creamy yummy potatoes. Blue Cheese Dressing for the salad needed some blue cheese crumble. Tiramisu Dessert was amazing. I am a fan of this restaurant and some other menu items that I can highly recommend are the outstanding all lump crab cakes, prime rib sliders, smashed burger, short ribs, and the triple fudge brownie served hot with a very creamy delightful ice cream. At the Oak House I have experienced pleasant service oriented staff, sophisticated but casual environment, and excellent food which is reasonably priced.
