    Chocolate Mousse was delicious

Stopped in today for a late lunch. Everything was wonderful, staff were so welcoming and the food was beyond!! So happy to see that the chocolate mousse was on the dessert menu. Yum!!

Reserved for New Years Eve because they said there would be a DJ, upon arrival no music. Three of the items from the fixed menu we ordered were unavailable, and the entree we ended up with was bland with a dry texture. There was zero ambiance for the New Years event. We ended up going across the street to Stern and Bow. Our waitress sent the manager over and after I described my complaints she literally walked away mid-sentence.

The Hill in Closter is outstanding. The seafood was incredibly fresh and flavorful, the desserts were absolutely top notch, and the Hill Burger is truly second to none--one of the best burgers around. The interior is beautiful with a warm, upscale atmosphere that still feels comfortable and inviting. Service was timely, professional, and attentive without being overbearing. A huge plus for families as well: our two young kids were able to stretch out on the couch and genuinely enjoyed the space, which made the entire experience even better. A perfect spot for both a great meal and a relaxed, memorable night out. Highly recommend.

After mistakenly thinking that I had made reservations at Felinas in Ridgewood, NJ, for New Years Eve. We ended up having dinner at The Hills in Closter. I was perplexed as to how the manager did not know how to take a fair complaint from it's patron and walking away from our table in mid sentence. That was appalling and embarrassing and just proof that she is not equipped to manage, nevertheless to manage a restaurant in which not only you need to gain the respect of your peers and staff and lead by example, but you need to make sure that your customers are satisfied specially when the restaurant was in the wrong and had no control of the work load that day. The action of this manager was so embarrassing, that I will never again set foot in their property again. The Hills should had never let the prior manager Frank, leave, but I guess he needed to be in a upscale restaurant.

Really really good. I've been here a few times previously and everything is on point. Terrific food, great service. Instead of main dining room we opted for bar. Enjoyed a delicious heaping plate of calamari, and our app choices were on point. Solid drinks and beers. Three grabbed the falafal platter for entree and I went for bacon cheese burger. Chill beautiful restaurant. Took our time and server made worthy suggestions on what to order. Dinner for two was awesome and solid price point ($91 before tip). I'm all in and will put this top of mind over Houston's or other premium restaurants.

Excellent service, atmosphere, and food. We started with the salmon tartare. The fish was perfectly fatty and the broth made a delicious dip for the complimentary, fresh focaccia. For entrees we went with more appetizers. The apps list just looked way more inviting to us tonight. My dining partner had the polenta cakes &!shrimp. Not a drop was left. I went for the macaroni and Gouda cheese with short rib. So creamy and savory. Delicious comforting. We finished up by sharing the butter cake and blueberry compote. Warm, buttery and Delish but so small for $12! They serve it with whip cream but really should invest in a good quality vanilla to go with it.

This restaurant was gorgeous! The interior was so lovely and comfortable at the same time. Service as quick. And the food was good. The menu was a bit sparse but there is something for everyone. As a pescatarian I felt I had options.

Halibut ceviche was perfection! So much flavor!

My wife and I just got home from celebrating our anniversary at The Hill. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The restaurant has a cool modern vibe. We were greeted by a professional and friendly staff member. They were able to move us from an outdoor table to an indoor one due to the weather being in the 90's. The seating is comfortable. The ceilings are high, so the acoustics were perfect for a romantic dinner. Our waiter was excellent, he gave great recommendations throughout the meal. I knew that the head chef has a seafood cookbook, so I figured I'd go in that direction. The halibut ceviche was a revelation, artfully plated and bursting with flavor. Perfect for the hot summer weather. My wife enjoyed the arugula salad, we both found the portion to be solid. For an entree, I selected the tuna with Israeli couscous and my wife went with the scallops. The tuna was perfectly cooked and the accompaniments were just right with it. I tried a bite of my wife's scallop and thought it was the perfect essence of a scallop, spot on sear and doneness. We shared the fingerling potatoes which were nice and crisp. Great meal, great ambiance, great staff! We will return!

4.5 stars The Hill had been on my list for a while, so I was thrilled to finally make it there on a recent Friday night. In fact, the restaurant was able to accommodate us on short notice and without a reservation. They even gave us a corner table with extra space, which was perfect for the baby in a stroller that was with our party. The restaurant was simply stunning, offering a seasonal patio, a chalet-like rustic dining room, and a lively bar. While the patio and bar served a more casual tavern menu with burgers and tacos, the dining room tantalized us with creative fine dining. From the moment we were greeted by our gracious server, Turk, and peered at the menu, we knew that we were in for a fabulous adventure. We started by ordering cocktails, and I went with one of my standard selections - the Spicy Margarita. Their version specifically included jalapeño-infused Espolon Tequila blanco, Cointreau, and lime; it was perfectly balanced and not too sweet. I also sampled my companion's Crooked Smile, which used Espolon's Reposado Tequila that time, as well as blood orange, ginger, and lime. So, it was basically another form of a margarita. It was light and refreshing, but could have used some more ginger, as the amount they had included was barely perceptible. Since our group included 3 diners with large and adventurous appetites, we went a bit overboard with our order. We started by sharing a few appetizers. The Turkish Falafel special included 3 crunchy patties of fried chickpea served over hummus, tahini, and a chickpea salad. It was topped with pickled red onion and served with soft pita points. The falafel and salad were terrific, but we found the hummus rather bland; some garlic would have really added flavor to the spread. The Salmon Tartare special included succulent chunks of chilled, raw salmon, as well as avocado, scallion, and sesame seeds, all in an Asian-style marinade. That dish was excellent! We ordered our final starter course from the regular menu - the Rigatoni Bolognese. The pasta was offered in both entrée and appetizer sizes, and, though we opted for the smaller bowl, the portion was massive! The al dente rigatoni was topped with a rich, bold beef ragu and tangy Grana Padano cheese. Since we had also received a complimentary basket of focaccia bread, we had a way to scoop up every last bite of the heavenly Bolognese. The basic, but perfectly executed, plate was the highlight of the meal! Next, we each ordered our own entrees, and I had been eyeing the Sesame-Crusted Yellowfin Tuna, which was served with bok choy and shiitake mushrooms in a soy glaze. However, Turk kept raving about the Slow-Cooked Halibut dish, though its preparation was less appealing to me. So, he suggested that I use the halibut in the tuna preparation, which was exactly what I wound up doing. As he had prefaced, the moist halibut was sheer perfection. I also enjoyed the bok choy and mushrooms, but, sadly, found the soy sauce way too salty. In fact, it became a bit tough to finish the leftover vegetables that had been soaking in the glaze, but I made sure to complete the fish. I was also able to sample a few bites of their scallop special, which included 7 medium-sized mollusks that were perfectly seared. I also grabbed a spoonful of my companion's Turmeric Mashed Potatoes, which were chunky and too light on the spice. After all of that, we somehow found room to share two desserts, starting with the Mint Oreo Cheesecake. A round Oreo cookie crust was topped with a tangy mint cheese, homemade whipped cream, and mint chocolate chips. While the rest of my table really liked this torte, I found the mint-infused cheese just a strange flavor; it was not bad, just unusual enough to leave me debating on my final assessment. We also shared the Chocolate Strawberry Cake, which was similar to a lava cake, but not as gooey. (In fact, I think we would have preferred if it had been.) The fluffy chocolate cake had a hint of berry ganache baked into it, and it was topped with fresh strawberries and white chocolate crunchies. The flavor combination naturally worked, coming together to make a really enjoyable dessert. Though I had a few critiques, overall I absolutely loved our entire evening at The Hill. I was impressed by the service, the atmosphere, and the chef's imagination. The restaurant was definitely worth a visit!

What an absolute gem. Not only is this restaurant beautiful as a venue, the food is just as impressive. We ordered quite a few appetizers to share and try out and to our delight, every single dish was fantastic. The salmon tartar was fresh and flavorful- a must. The calamari is a good portion to share and one of the best calamari I've had in a while. The falafel is fresh and tasty as well as the shrimp dish. Once the entrées came and with how amazing the starters were we knew we wouldn't be disappointed. The yellowfin tuna was fresh and the chicken a filling portion and the star of the show- porterhouse for two. Each person loved their dish and the consensus was that we 100% will be coming back and enjoying all that The Hill has to offer!

Made reservations for a week night and there was live music. They were taking song requests which was not the best idea but it was still a fun time. I tried the perfect gin and tonic and wow, super juniper-y! Very good. This place is great for date night in Closter.

Had an early Valentine's Day dinner with the wife the day before Valentine's Day. Brasserie Memere…read moreis an upscale French restaurant located in the Target plaza of Closter. The lighting is dim, the ambiance is intimate, and it looks romantic. I had made reservations so we were seated immediately. It's funny to note that the place settings were placed next to each other instead of across from each other at a four person table. We usually prefer to face each other, but when it's Valentine's day why not be cute? We ordered a few drinks during our dinner, the Sugar Plum Fairy, Memere 75, Avion en papier. My favorite was definitely the Avion en papier which had a slightly sweet, slightly bitter, citrusy taste. They had a pre fixe menu for Valentine's Day which unfortunately did not have the steak tartare i was interested in trying. But for $88, you get 3 courses: an appetizer, entree, and dessert. For our appetizers, we got the TARTARE DE THON (tuna tartare) and COCKTAIL DE CREVETTES GEANTES (shirmp cocktail). Between the two, i preferred the tuna tartare. The shrimp cocktail was good, but the only thing really special about it was the massive size of the shrimp and the freshly grated horseradish in the cocktail sauce. For our entrees, we got the CASSOULET DE CANARD and FILET MIGNON. The extremely tender duck leg confit was served with pancetta, white beans, toulouse sausage, and foie gras breadcrumb. It was rich, savory, fatty, and filling. All great words to describe food. The duck leg confit reminded me a little bit of a smoked turkey leg with the red coloring and shreddable texture. The filet mignon was served with pomme purée, wild mushrooms, and a bordelaise sauce. The filet was cooked medium rare as requested, but a bit under salted. The pomme purée aka mashed potatoes tasted like it was 50% butter so it was obviously delicious. Dessert was good, but my least favorite part of the meal. We got the TAHITIAN VANILLA CRÈME BRÛLÉE and the VALRHONA CHOCOLAT POT AU CRÈME. Both were very sweet. The brûlée crust did not shatter well, but it otherwise had a nice creamy texture. The chocolate pot was covered in flaky feuilletine which gave a nice contrast to the creamy chocolate, but my wife found the brandied cherries overpowering. The cherries made me think of German chocolate cake. Service was excellent. Staff was quick to refill water and checked on us constantly. Pace of the meal was relaxed and I'd even say they were slow to bring us the check since we had been dining for over 2 hours. My wife wants me to bring her back for their bottomless brunch on a Sunday so I will eventually be back.

5+ Stars; My favorite restaurant in the realm of Chef Robbie Felice…read more Outstanding! Excellent service; Very cool urban ( Brooklyn-like) vibe & atmosphere. Kitchen view; Nice sized bar with all the good stuff; Excellent food and drinks! Big public parking lot next door. But keep in mind it doesn't come cheap. What looks (and is) very casual is still in Westwood ( an always evolving Foodie town). A true artisanal menu. I suggest you look at the menu and Google some terms because you're going to see some ingredients & foods that are not common place. Multiple types of Mozzarella ( and other cheeses) Home made pastas that you don't always see anywhere (no penne or spaghetti here!) Our group of four is infamous for ordering A LOT off the menu and sharing; No two like items here. Vibes? Good. Drinks? Ok…read more Food? I mean...I guess? It's different which IS great. Everything is expensive so I get it but it just didn't blow my bra onto the bathroom ceiling. 260 a couple and one wasn't drinking is reasonable If anything was wow...the best bite of the night was the 10.00 fresh table side bite of mozzarella...it's the one thing we've circled back to talking about over the evening. 26 of those bites would have been way cooler and delicious...which is a good idea for next time. Clams, tasty breadcrumbs. Couldn't find a clam...with both hands, it tasted good if not a little dry just didn't really get "clam" Mozzarella sticks....tasty breadcrumbs and hot honey. But no pull. Focaccia? Over well?? Dark on All sides and only ordered bc our entree was "saucy"...plot twist...it was not. Inventive with the sausage chicken cutlet but scarpiello is supposed to be spicy, sharp...this was roasted peppers on a sausage chicken cutlet with not a drop of sauce. (We shared this, decent serving but for the price you couldn't even garnish the plate?) Chicken scarpimellow maybe ? Cocktails? Tiny and just ok, nothing to write home about and a lot of "just bc you can doesn't mean you should" I want a cocktail with alcohol not molecular gastronomy in a shot glass. The espresso martini was very good, I will give them a 9 on that. The staff was the star, friendly attentive but I can't say knowledgeable because the focaccias sole purpose was for sauce that didn't exist and she didn't come back to ask so here we are with focaccia that came out before apps for an entree that didn't need it. The worst element was that at various points the restaurant was filled with an acrid smell of burning plastic or food or something and it was very off putting but it wasn't a delicious scent. Also, for the vibes and the cost the influencer in gym shorts really throws that whole mood yes society is more casual now but gym shorts aren't really appropriate at any restaurant with the same price point. I'd give it another shot in the future maybe just for cocktails and hand fed cheese.
