What looks (and is) very casual is still in Westwood ( an always evolving Foodie town). A true artisanal menu. I suggest you look at the menu and Google some terms because you're going to see some ingredients & foods that are not common place. Multiple types of Mozzarella ( and other cheeses) Home made pastas that you don't always see anywhere (no penne or spaghetti here!) Our group of four is infamous for ordering A LOT off the menu and sharing; No two like items here. Apps Choose a basket of one of the bread choices; Make sure you try some cheeses ( REAL Italian burrata and REAL Italian buffalo mozzarella from Italy here!) A MUST--Italian Stracciatella ( stringy & soft cheese like Mozzarella with house made Hummus in a Roasted Garlic Pinsa Romana that came with pita. Entrees ( all good sized servings) and after all the yummy cheeses & Apps you can expect to have a take-home container. --I loved the Chicken & Sausage Cutlet Milanese Scarpariello with Rosemary; topped with cooked onions & peppers (not a old salad as one would expect with a Milanese. However they did have the traditional chicken Milanese topped with a Cesar salad that looked awesome. --the Trottole (pasta) with Short Rib Ragu | Mozzarella Whey | Belper Knolle ( a shaved, seasoned cheese) was like nothing Ive ever had and everyone loved it. --the Fussilli pasta with Basil Pesto | Whipped Ricotta | Pine Nut was also fantastic! --Spicy Rig(atoni pasta) with Stracciatella (cheese) | Sicilian Oregano | Basil; another somewhat common dish but here stands out among some of the best. The staff was the star, friendly attentive but I can't say knowledgeable because the focaccias sole purpose was for sauce that didn't exist and she didn't come back to ask so here we are with focaccia that came out before apps for an entree that didn't need it. The worst element was that at various points the restaurant was filled with an acrid smell of burning plastic or food or something and it was very off putting but it wasn't a delicious scent. Also, for the vibes and the cost the influencer in gym shorts really throws that whole mood yes society is more casual now but gym shorts aren't really appropriate at any restaurant with the same price point. Service was excellent from the hostess, to the waitress, to the server! Very pleasant and friendly. Ambience was a mix, while the visual was extremely nice and warm. Music was way too loud and urban, did not connect with the appearance. Food was ok, we got the mozzarella and prosciutto. It was ok. A little pricey and you had to pay $10 for the bread that most restaurants give for free. We also ordered the fried mozzarella with the hot honey, very good. Went to Bar Mutz for my sister's birthday and overall had a great time. We did have to wait about 30 minutes past our reservation, which was a little frustrating, but once we were seated, the atmosphere was fun and energetic. I kept getting sponsored ads through Instagram so I was intrigued. I want to stay for at least a good six months. I have been wanting to come here. Finally my birthday hits and I tell everybody this is where I wanna go and it did not disappoint at all the only thing and I get it that it's an adult scenery and scene but the music was a little too loud. We were screaming at each other as we were talking, but the food excellent was not a disappointment at all from the appetizer to the dinner to the dessert. The dessert is like wow like I actually wanna go back to have another dessert from there and obviously have fresh mozzarella. The waitress was great. She explained everything to the tea. She also had this other gentleman. He was the one that did the mozzarella to our table. He was very sweet so I will tell you the staff was great. This is a very hip place for a younger crowd, but for an older crowd again the problem is the music is too loud, but I enjoyed every minute of the music I put it that way lol I hope you enjoy the pictures and make sure you get down there ASAP as a reminder this restaurant is not for children. You do have to make a reservation. They book things out only two weeks and if you do have kids, they have to be 14 and older. The short rib dish although small was very heavy but very delish. Then for dessert we got the rainbow cookie dessert and the Samoa dessert. There is street parking or metered parking lot for parking. For food we ordered the fussilli and spicy rig for entree and both were cooked well and delicious. The fussilli is a fresh herby pesto sauce and creamy. The spicy rig had the perfect kick to it and we all really enjoyed this one. I would recommend both based on what you're craving. My absolute favorite thing we tried was a special but I am hopeful they make it a permanent addition. It was focaccia bread with straciatella spread on it and shaved truffles on top. Chefs kiss! All the dishes were delicious but my next favorite was the short rib ragu. Creamy and cooked perfect. I also loved the chicken Milanese Caesar. A must try in Westwood that will not leave you disappointed! It was easy to get a reservation but they do fill up fast so make sure you have one before going. My only complaint is we were seated at the mozzarella bar which is high top seating so next time I reserved the dining area. It was definitely alot smaller in size than I had expected but it was well decorated. The music definitely needs to be turned down a few notches as I could not hear our server or my date during most of the evening. I really appreciated how our server took the time to walk us through the entire menu and give his honest opinions as it was our first time there. We started off with bottle spring water and a round of drinks, I got my usual Aperol spritz and my boyfriend ordered the vice city. My spritz was strong and it took me the whole meal to finish it. The vice city was good however we were disappointed that it was a liquid strawberry daiquiri with whipped cream on top. The menu could definitely have given a better description on that drink. We started off with a few appetizers: the mozzarella sticks di bar mutz, di Stefano burrata, and garlic pinsa romana bread. The mozzarella sticks with hot honey are an absolute must. We were actually fighting over each one because they were deliciously crisp and gooey on the inside. The di Stefano burrata was great and I'm so thankful our server let us know that it doesn't come with any type of bread so we ordered the garlic pinsa romana bread. I just would've liked more than 4 small pieces of bread to pair with the burrata but it was all flavor on point and a decent portion. For our mains we ordered two pastas and an entree to share: spicy rig, trottole, and the chicken sausage cutlet Milanese. I absolutely loved the spicy rig as it was the perfect portion to share, just enough sauce and basil, with the perfect level of spice. The trottole with short rib was an absolute favorite and I would probably order this the next time and time again. The short rib was melt in your mouth good, the pasta was amazing and topped off with this creamy salty cheese that I cannot remember the name of. The chicken sausage cutlet Milanese was good but I probably would not get it again. It wasn't bad just not something I enjoy where the sausage and chicken cutlets are combined together and the sausage peppers and onions were a lot. It was a great meal for sure. Just a very loud restaurant and since we were at the mozzarella bar we didn't have much table space for all our food. For our next trip I hope we have room to make it to dessert! read more

So YES the prices will be high but you can literally see them making it fresh. The highlight was the chicken and sausage cutlet. OMG! It was bigger than my head and genuinely one of the best entrees I have ever eaten. Prosciutto is really yummy on the sour dough bread. You just need to figure out what you like there. On Mondays and Tuesdays they serve chicken parm. Have yet to try that. Overall, I'd give this place a 4-star rating. Before I explain why I had to take away one star, let me start with the positives. The ambiance is awesome, from the neon lights on the walls to the graphic mosaic in the back filled with Italian-themed images, and even the creatively designed sticker-covered tables. One of the best parts was the music, they played a lot of 2000s hip-hop, which added a fun vibe. Overall, the theme feels like an Italian-American aesthetic with a cool, urban East Coast twist. I went there with a party of 10. Our waiter, whose name I'm so mad I forgot because he was great, was prompt, professional, and very attentive. He took the time to explain the menu and made sure we were satisfied throughout the meal. For appetizers, we ordered the Di Stefano with all the fixings, mozzarella sticks with hot honey, focaccia with sour milk, and mortadella sammys. Every single appetizer we tried was outstanding. My personal favorite was the mortadella sammys, they had the perfect salty flavor with a hint of sweetness from the fresh ricotta and pistachio spread. For entrees, we ordered the spicy rigatoni, short rib ragu pasta, chicken Caesar Milanese, chicken and sausage cutlet Milanese, and the flat iron steak. The quality of the food was top-notch and everything from the pasta to the cheeses and proteins tasted incredibly fresh. That said, a few things could be improved. I wish the sausage cutlet Milanese had come with a side, like vegetables or something similar. The chicken Caesar Milanese also had too much salad and a smaller portion of chicken, so the portions felt a bit uneven overall. The spicy rigatoni was tasty, but the "spicy" element was missing, there wasn't a hint of heat in sight, so it ended up tasting like a regular rigatoni dish. Overall, the food is extremely rich, so I'd recommend going in with the mindset of savoring each bite slowly rather than rushing through the meal. We also ordered a few drinks and shots, including limoncello shots, beer, sangria, and an Aperol spritz. The drinks were pretty mediocre and nothing to write home about. The limoncello shot with the baking soda stirred in was a fun and cool experience, but it ended up tasting a lot like Alka-Seltzer. We also ordered every dessert on the menu, from the rainbow cookie gelato to the butter cake, brownie tiramisu, and Samoa cheesecake. My personal favorite was the butter cake, but all of the desserts were outstanding, super delicate and incredibly fresh. Last but not least is the reason I had to take one star away. The restaurant has a two-hour time limit, which is pretty unrealistic for a party of 10 ordering appetizers, dinner, dessert, and drinks. We ended up being there for about three hours, and once it got close to that mark, we asked for the check. We paid with one credit card and waited for the waiter to come back to collect it. During that time, we noticed the male host , who was dressed casually and not in a waiter's uniform, kept staring at our table and whispering to other employees. He looked visibly annoyed, as if we were taking too long, even though we were simply waiting for our waiter to return so we could pay. After about 15 minutes, the host walked over and said, "Unfortunately, you guys are going to have to leave--we have other people waiting for a table." That's when we explained that we still had our check and were waiting for the waiter to come back so we could complete the payment. He didn't apologize; he just looked embarrassed and took the credit card. It felt inappropriate, especially considering our party had spent around $1,500 at the restaurant. It wasn't the best way to address guests who had just supported the business, and there were definitely more courteous ways he could have approached the situation. To make matters worse, he seemed to be spending most of his time directing other employees rather than helping out, slicking back his hair, flexing his muscles in mirror and popping his collar instead of pitching in with the rest of the staff. Odd part is I have zero doubt they're looking for Gen Z and anyone over 50 will be looking to never come back or at least I won't unless I sit outside. Why? Alright alright alright.... Went to bar mutz for date night. The plan was to not visit the website or yelp ahead of time to get a truly, surprisingly awesome adventure for what we were hearing was the hottest new place in the area. And that's what we did! Goal was to get a bunch of bites and cocktails, less of a sit-down formal meal to explore what they had to offer. After all, we booked the literal mutz bar for 9pm on a Thursday, ensuring kitchen didn't close until 10:30. Overall the food was excellent and the service was good and the ambience was cool! Now, let's get into it! Firstly, the place is a vibe. Clearly, it is a vibe. With that being said, it can also be a little confusing. You got a formal dinning area, a bar area then the mutz bar area. I love the mash-up! Butttt (there's always a but) there was a little misunderstanding with our approach as customers. Let me explain. We walked in and ordered a fresh mutz plate and 2 cocktails to start. When we ordered it the waitress said "that's it!?" To which we said, "for now." I wanted to get some time to see some stuff pump out the kitchen (given the mutz bar is a view into the bus window for order servicing). Once we saw the beef tartar we were like YUP! So we ordered another round of drinks and that app with a side of one of their bread to order options to dip with the mutz. Following this, we then decided we wanted to close with their charcuterie option (which is super unclear on the menu and had to be inquired "what is this!" To which the waitress couldn't say the word charcuterie harmless but funny ). So we put that order in and were politely advised, the establishment doesn't do piece-meal ordering. "For next time" You have to put in your full order at the time of ordering. Naturally, I was a bit embarrassed and a little frustrated. Now, this is totally normal especially for high volume order handling. However, I admittedly found this off putting. For 1, the menu doesn't state this (anywhere), and you should be told this when seated. Secondly, I'm sitting at the mutz bar. I'm not in the formal dinning area, where I think they should allow the ability to order more as the customers there are getting sneak peaks into dishes the whole night. And thirdly, their menu and food options are very unique. It's hard to gauge what will be more of a light bite vs filling meal or shareable. My last constructive feedback is the menu layout (options are dope). Although our waitress walked us through it, she really just read what we could read. No concept of how the mutz options will be served (which I like the idea of discovering this but later learning full order is required to go in, this isn't ideal), the cocktails well, there isn't many for something known to be a cocktail bar... but this partially my fault cuz when we got the check I realized I missed that the "fruity section" was also cocktail options (4-5 options missed)... partial ownership to Bar Mutz on this as it was missed cuz the chaotic menu layout. Maybe a cocktail menu living separately? There are areas like the charcuterie options that were later discovered and then inquired about. My husband had no clue what these options were and thought they were maybe something for pickup/online ordering (lol). I love the trendy vibe but a confusing menu isn't great. And quite honestly especially for seasoned dinning out young individuals. Thankfully I don't mind asking questions. All in all, a nice night out with hella yummy food a small side of a buzz-kill of learning our dinning approach wasn't appreciated (good to inform customers ahead of time to avoid this). Sealed with well made cocktails with a desire for more there. Now I know, next time I go I will think to approach it knowing it's a little more rigid formal style dinning... but then why so progressive and trendy? read more

Hands down one of my top 5 meals. The service is consistently amazing. The first time we went, we sat at the bar and the bartender was fantastic -- super attentive without hovering, and his recommendations were spot on. We went back for Valentine's Day and once again everything was perfect. Great service, incredible food. I can't recommend this place enough. The design is such a vibe -- you'll catch yourself looking around nonstop, saying "OMG I remember this," and then a song comes on and suddenly you're singing along. The only downside? Getting a reservation is rough. I literally stayed up until midnight when the Valentine's Day slots opened and still only managed to grab a high-top. Totally worth it though. read more

Social media I think hyped up this place as being amazing regarding the food specifically the Mozzarella Sticks. No Cheese Pull. Odd pairing with honey. Quite honestly, the mozzarella sticks feel and taste frozen and sprinkled w some decorative sauce and seasoning for visual effects only. The Burrata looks like standard ball and quite expensive at $24. Barely shareable. This place also suffers in a little bit of identity crisis. The place gives off casual upbeat vibes with graffiti on the wall as well as spray cans spread out through the place, so one would not expect white glove service in switching out plates and utensils and extreme attentiveness. The issue here lies in the music is very loud that you can't really carry any long conversations, with the songs switching up and wait staff coming over to the decorative sticker table to clean off crumbs and such. The place tries to give off very cool casual vibes but acts really attentive, in a place that i don't expect it to be. It tries to act both casual and super classy in very tight spaced area. This is where it feels a little off in not knowing what it wants to be. Food is also a bit off in flavor specifically lack of seasoning salt or pepper in Flat Iron Steak.. Aesthetically speaking it also looks off. What's up with big iceberg lettuce that looks chopped in half, the cherry tomato's doesn't look roasted, more like boiled... maybe roasted peppers would work here instead if you're going for roasted look and taste. Also the market price for steak for two is $175. Again throwing things off because that is steakhouse type pricing in a place that portrays itself as hip, cool and casual. Why is this on the menu and what is the turnover rate on this menu item?? The Trottole is good. I would order this again. The above the rim espresso martini is a bit gimmicky and you lose a lot of foaming because it falls off the glass. Our waiter had to come by a few mins to clean up the mess. I dont understand why this drink isn't in the traditional martini glass like the Affogato Martini where the foam has a chance to fall down into the actual glass. However in what I could taste from Espresso Martini and Affogato Martini. The drinks are on point. If you're within 20-30 mins of drive and relatively local, I guess it's worth a try. If you're 45-60 mins or more from this place. You have better options locally to you. Overall, I would ask Bar Mutz to look over on who they want to be. Are we casual hip cool place or are we looking to be semi upscale and classy? You don't have to try to be both at the same time. The vibe feels experimental at best. I would also ask Bar Mutz to look at the Flat Iron steak presentation, does it match up to everything we are serving? Does it look right....should we be even serving this if our other dishes outshines this? Lastly, I would look into pricing of some of the higher end dishes and apps. Some of apps are expensive for what comes out from a portion perspective. read more
