Out of all the city-view restaurants we've tried around Edgewater, Haven easily stands out as the best overall experience. The setting is hard to beat-- the skyline views create a beautiful backdrop that really elevates the entire meal especially at night. The food isn't flawless across the board, but its definitely good. With some standout highlights. If you like oysters, the Kumamotos are a must-- buttery, rich and incredibly fresh. And the petit filet mignon is executed to perfection, cooked exactly right and full of flavor. Overall, great atmosphere, efficient service, strong key dishes, and one of the best waterfront dining experiences in the area.

The food was excellent and the service outstanding! Meeting with friends we hadn't seen in a while and we stayed over dinner for 3 hours! The view and the evening sky was perfect !

I love the ambiance at Haven. The view is great, especially during night time. The hostess is always friendly. I've had good service here every time, Calum and David were great! Sorry I can't remember all the other servers' names. The food is superb as well. If you're a fan of oysters, go for the kumamotos. They are so buttery and creamy, a guaranteed orgasm in your mouth. The bakkafrost salmon is perfect, their filet mignon was also cooked to perfection. If you're going for brunch, the spicy crispy chicken sandwich was hella good. Hopefully they switch up their menu from time to time, I go there so often

Waterfront restaurant. It was OK. The service is great, the menu is OK. We went for restaurant week and that was a wonderful way to try many dishes. We decided to stop by the bar for happy hour on the way out. I preferred that menu. Maria was our waitress by the bar and was great. If I read in the area I would return, but I wouldn't make the trip otherwise.

I came for Mother's Day. Normally we go out in Saturday due to the Mother's Day crowd, but yo my surprise though it was packed I'm glad they gave mercy on us for being 30min late. Either they were running behind or just held our resy. Either way traffic from nyc to nj was horrible. 1/4 of our party was there on time to hold the resy. By the time they texted us the table was ready we were just pulling up to valet around 7pm. The service was quick or waiter was super friendly. We had the Mother's Day prefix menu. We had the shrimp firecracker which was really good and mother had calamari which had a really nice presentation. We all had steaks which were all good. As for sides I feel like they fell short on the crab fried rice. Not much crab and the rice was Al dente and not much flavor. I should've gone with the Mac n cheese or mashed potatoes (those were good). Desert we had cheesecake and the brownie. Both were great no complaints. The best part of the his place was the waterfront views especially at night. I would definitely come back to try their full menu or just for a nice day to sit on the water for brunch/dinner.

Haven is one of my favorite restaurants and bars in Edgewater, NJ. Their lounge area is nice and welcoming - I recommend their happy hour including mocktails and cocktails! Also their restaurant area is beautiful with a NYC skyline view and amazing food and service! Today, we went there for date night and had again Alejandro taking best care of us! He made our evening out tonight special! We should have taken more pictures of the delicious and beautifully arranged dishes.

Recently I have been to haven for their brunch menu. The brunch was simply delicious. I'm quite a fan of eggs Benedict and they did not disappoint. Our server was the best. She took so many pictures of our group. The view from the restaurant is also another highlight. I'd definitely recommend stopping in when in the area.

I had a lovely birthday lunch, sitting on Haven's covered outdoor patio. It has the perfect ambiance, and the view of NYC is beautiful. The braised short ribs were fork-tender and delicious! The burger was a sizable portion and served with perfectly cooked fries. In addition to a variety of cocktails, beer, and wine, they offer thoughtfully crafted mocktails. The indoor dining room is also very classy, but I was most impressed with the cloth hand towels and hand lotion in their restroom. For outdoor seating, I would recommend making a reservation. Several people who arrived without one were unable to sit on the patio.

Sat bar side and had multiple apps. Our bartender was friendly and great! The pork belly was a little on the tough side. Spring chicken roll lacked a bit of flavor. It was a nice environment overall and would give it another try.

Drinks: expresso martini Food: Yellowfin Ahi Tuna Tacos, Pan Seared Sea Scallops, Shrimp Tempura Crispy Rice Bites & Truffle Mac N' Cheese

Came to Haven for a late lunch and had such a great experience! The service was impressively quick especially considering the kitchen closes at 3pm--and our waiter, Thanos, was an absolute delight. Friendly, attentive, and made the whole visit even better. Drink: Espresso Martini - rich, smooth, and just the right kick. Food: * Shrimp Tempura Crispy Rice Bites - My absolute favorite. Perfect texture and flavor. So delicious! * Truffle Mac N' Cheese - Creamy, rich, and full of that deep truffle flavor. A comfort food dream. * Yellowfin Ahi Tuna Tacos - Fresh and beautifully presented. My second favorite. * Pan Seared Sea Scallops - Cooked well, though the bacon definitely took center stage flavor-wise. Overall, the meal was flavorful, well-paced, and the vibe was relaxed but elevated. Definitely recommend for a lunch date or catching up with friends over great food and drinks. I'll be back!

This is the Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass the fish was delicious the dish definitely need a lil bit of salt and pepper

This place is always a ten out ten for me. I came here on Saturday and had the Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass and I was surprised it was like a ramen noodle soup just needed a lil bit of salt and pepper but I will definitely have it again

    Ribeye, shrimp, asparagus, potatoes

Stunning view. Very kind and accommodating waitstaff. Food was mediocre and highly priced. $300 for two people (shared an entree, 2 appetizers, 3 drinks) is ridiculous. Had to send the steak back because I ordered it medium and it came back well done.

I recently hosted my bridal shower here and from the moment I reached out to book the location all the way through breakdown of decor, they were amazing. Fiona assisted me on the booking side of things, ensuring we put together the best brunch option for my guests. The day of we had plenty of time to be able to set up and decorate the private dining area. Our servers were helpful, friendly, and attentive. Everyone enjoyed their meals and many commented on the beautiful space and location. Huge thank you to all of the Haven staff for ensuring we had a wonderful event!

The beige walls and neutral tones in the space gave us flashbacks to when we used to dine at Dovetail, the restaurant in this space many, many years ago (before children). Of course, our dinner at Essential far outshone any we had at Dovetail, both because this was a "date with the whole family" as the progeny puts it, and because the kitchen at Essential is unusually precise and deliberate, distilling onto each plate the pure, fresh, unadulterated flavors of premium ingredients. You can choose a four or seven course "experience", with or without wine pairings. Children may order à la carte or from an unpublished children's menu that includes burgers and pasta for picky eaters. Three of us went with the four course experience and chose our own wine and mocktails to accompany; the 11-year-old went à la carte. Our meal began with a more-substantial-than-usual amuse bouche of mushroom cappuccino. We were advised to sink our spoons all the way down to the bottom of the cup for each bite, so we could experience all three layers at once: sweet potato purée at the base, topped with Madeira reduction and umami-rich mushroom foam. First courses: Dorade Royale (artichoke / gold ossetra caviar / bouillon tiède gourmand): A neatly presented square of layered raw dorade and tender slivers of artichoke hearts came topped with a generous mound of caviar. Bouillon tiède was poured around the square tableside, which slightly warmed the dorade and intensified its delicate flavor. Hokkaido Uni (crustacean royal / sora pickles / wasabi velour): Despite the brilliant green of the gently creamy wasabi sauce / soup, there was no heat and little, if any, of fresh wasabi's distinctive scent. This was just as well, since the bits of Hokkaido uni in the dish were sweet and delicious, and a stronger sauce may have overwhelmed. Toro Saku (mi cuit / tamarind / mandarinquats / sea condiment): A fair sized slab of toro was probably prepared sous vide and very soft, but not flakey, reminiscent of aged sashimi. It was quite difficult to cut given the sometimes fibrous texture and the large slab felt clunky, monotonous, and indelicate, quite unlike our other dishes. Lovely little loaves of warm, brown kalamata bread were brought to the table after our first course was cleared, with little volcano-shaped ramekins of good butter alongside, sprinkled with perhaps Maldon sea salt. Second courses: Celtuce (grilled / cucumber / buddha's hand) -- I didn't get to try more than a teeny bite. But what I tried of it (mostly the sauce) was slightly citrusy, very complex and pleasantly light on the palate. Scallop (lightly smoked / gold ossetra caviar / champagne hazelnut) -- Two generously sized, sweet and delicate sea scallops were served with more of that excellent caviar (an ingredient that makes frequent cameos). This was my favorite dish and probably one of the best scallop preparations in the City. Langoustine (slightly cooked / stuffed zita / swarnadwipa / green curry): I could not pin it to any specific culinary tradition, but the curry worked well and not compete with with sweet langoustine. Third courses: Kampachi (barely grilled / combawa / château-chalon): A generous portion of what was essentially kampachi sashimi was very gently dressed with the tiniest touch of lime, cilantro, scallion, and (I think) sea beans, with a light drizzle of a thin, umami-rich, savory sauce. Squab (racan / roasted / fukushu kumquat / toast à gratin / sauce diable): Pigeonneau de Racan was exceptionally tender and juicy, the liver pate in a pastry shell rich. A pretty orange quenelle of something kumquat-y balanced the fat. Iberico Pork (presa de bellota / sweet peas & chorizo / jalapeño condiment / omija berries jus): A well raised, high quality product from acorn-fed, free-range pigs. Sweet, tart omija berry jus was the perfect foil, a bit reminiscent of cranberry sauce. Desserts: La Tarte au Chocolat (warm / roasted vanilla ice cream): Classic and uncomplicated, the ice cream was scented with pleasantly rounded and understated natural vanilla. La Framboise (crispy fine feuilles / linzer / madagascar vanilla): This confection was simple, yet elegant, strongly leading with the pure flavors of fresh raspberries. Le Soufflé (orange marmalade / green cardamom ice cream): The soufflé was beautifully made, impossibly light and airy, delicately scented with bitter orange. The accompanying green cardamom ice cream stole the show. All around a lovely meal and a lovely evening. We love Chef Christophe Bellanca's mashups of culinary cultures. They're fun and they work!

The attention to every meticulous element, from pacing to presentation, created a dining experience that felt truly special. The meal itself was extraordinary. Each course was not only beautifully executed but deeply flavorful and thoughtfully composed. The Mushroom Cappuccino was a perfect start rich, earthy, and comforting with incredible depth. The sweet potato with madeira reduction was a standout, balancing sweetness and richness with elegance. Le Royale was indulgent and refined, while the blue prawns were cooked to perfection delicate and bursting with flavor. This is dining at the highest level refined, memorable, and truly deserving of its Michelin star. I can't wait to return.

None of the dishes were a miss: Tostada Ensenada (4/5): Was she a tad petite for $27? Perhaps. Was she overflowing with seafood? Pretty damn close, because I was not disappointed and in fact had many juicy chunks of shrimp and octopus on that tostada. Baked Clams (5/5): I mean, chorizo, garlic, breadcrumbs - literally all I could dream for in a baked clam. Would order a whole platter of them if I could. Branzino a las Brasas (4/5): taste-wise, the fish itself was pretty bland, but texture-wise it was perfectly moist, and the cook on it made for the silkiest and softest fillet. Now what REALLY exceeded our expectations were the TORTILLAS that came with the branzino. Nothing complex, but it was the best tortilla I've ever had. Fideo Seco (5/5): did not expect pasta to steal the spotlight, but this was undeniably delicious. There's something about that cream sauce, which worked really well with the lobster. The fideo pasta they use is also so fascinating, like smaller strands of angel hair. Passionfruit sorbet (4/5): I love passionfruit so you can't go wrong with this - refreshingly tangy and acidic, maybe could've been a little less icy imo. Molten chocolate cake (5/5): didn't expect to splurge on dessert but did not regret it - the chocolate was so decadent without being overpoweringly sweet + moist cake! The interior is clean and has a rustic charm to it, would definitely recommend for a nice dinner date. Service was super attentive and friendly, really appreciated that - would love to come back when my wallet recovers!

It's definitely a more elevated take on Mexican coastal cuisine. Fideo Seco (4.5/5): The highlight of the night. The creaminess paired with the lobster was great. Grilled Octopus (4.25/5): cooked just right and paired with a unique, crispy sweet potato which made it fun to eat. Baked Clams (4/5): Delicious, though $21 for only 5 pieces felt a bit steep. Fajitas Nortenas (4/5): The steak could have been more tender, but the flavor was great--especially when paired with their excellent corn tortillas. Tacos de Langosta (4/5): A solid taco, but not exactly a "must-order." For $28, getting only two tacos felt a bit steep for what it was Skip the Drinks: Both the Watermelon Margarita and Passion Fruit Mojito felt overly strong and lacked a unique flavor profile Save Room for Dessert: Surprisingly impressive! The Chocolate Molten wasn't overly sweet, and the Strawberry Flan featured rhubarb that paired perfectly with the custard. A great spot for a high-end seafood dinner, though the drinks didn't quite live up to the food.

We came upon Lokal 83 and were seated at a large table toward the back of this pleasant restaurant. We ordered a family-style meal, sampling many of their dishes. PICK THREE - $27 * Eggplant Salad, Tzatziki, Ajvar ARUGULA & PEAR SALAD - $17 Fresh arugula with thinly sliced pear, walnuts, blue cheese, dried cranberries, olive oil, and honey vinaigrette. AVOCADO & TOMATO SALAD - $17 Fresh tomato, cucumber, red onion, avocado, corn, fresh parsley, tossed with olive oil and lemon juice. BEETROOT & FETA CHEESE SALAD - $16 Beets, feta cheese, parsley, lemon vinaigrette, golden raisins, and walnuts. MIXED OLIVES - $12 Mediterranean olives mixed with lemon juice, garlic, oregano, chili flakes, and olive oil. CHEESE PASTRIES - $13 Fried, cigar-shaped crispy pastries stuffed with feta cheese and dill. ZUCCHINI PANCAKES - $17 Pan-fried zucchini pancakes served with garlic yogurt sauce. STUFFED GRAPE LEAVES - $14 Grape leaves stuffed with rice, pine nuts, currants, and herbs. I sampled most of the dishes and thought all of the salads were very good, although the pear slices in the Arugula & Pear Salad could have been riper. The Eggplant Salad was really more of a dip than a salad, but it had excellent flavor. The Cheese Pastries were crispy, hot and tasty. The Zucchini Pancakes were bland and would have been better with a more generous serving of the garlic yogurt sauce. Service was good for the most part, though a little spotty at times, especially when it came time to get the check. Overall, this was a solid four-star dining experience. We'd be happy to return.
