Very solid. Enjoyed the 700 degree cabbage and the Moroccan fish. My friend ordered the Sea bream which bi didn't have but looked amazing. I even found a nice wine on the per glass menu, an Albarino. Id definitely come back.

This restaurant has been on my list to try for a while, and finally came here with a friend for dinner. I fell in love with the elegant decor of this place, filled with light, flowers, cool artwork, accents of wood, along with a yellow, red and blue color scheme. There was a beautiful garden back area that was enclosed. The whole space was lovely with plenty of room and there was a warm, comfortable ambiance throughout. My friend and I shared the Greek Salad, Zaatar Fries, Taboon Bread as well as whole Dorade Fish with potatoes and watercress salad. The Greek Salad consisted of cucumber, tomato, red onion, and feta cheese with seasoning and olive oil dressing. This was fresh, crunchy, with a bit of acidity. The Zaatar Fries were perfectly crispy, and sprinkled with flavorful spices. The Taboon Bread was served warm from the oven. It was soft and tasty. Whole Dorade Fish was a sight to behold! Fried to perfection, delightfully tender, flaky, and well seasoned. The roasted potatoes were satisfyingly charred and full of flavor. I'm not a fan of watercress, so didn't care much for the salad. Even though I was quite full, I couldn't resist ordering the Silan (shredded halva) Sundae dessert with milk gelato. This also came with rice crispy brittle, caramel sauce and caramelized pistachios. This was light, creamy, just the right amount of sweetness and oh so delicious! I particularly enjoyed the Halva, which was sesame-y and wonderful. All the ingredients worked well together. Service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and knew the menu well. We were well taken care of throughout our meal. I would return to try the Moroccan Fish or Kebab Halabi.

Had a great Sunday brunch here! The garden in back is very nice and the service was great. The highlights were the feta, pita bread, and most importantly, the lamb arayes!

Great restaurant! We had the spicy feta and taboon bread, burrata, cabbage, and the chicken. The spicy feta dip was delicious and not too spicy. The taboon bread was fluffy and delicious. The burrata with the beets was great and I loved the artichoke chips. The cabbage was charred and soft. Loved the combination of all the ingredients. The chicken was delicious and had a nice spice flavor. The Cabernet was a nice wine. Also enjoyed the Syrah as well. Our server Lewis was very knowledgeable and was very nice. Would definitely go back for the food, great service and cool ambiance.

2nd visit here...Small but well executed menu...for apps defintely get the hummus and zataar pita (comes separate), for ghe mains get the schnitzel or moroccan fish tagine...For dessert you must get the salin which was ice cream with halva and was amazing.

Their kebab was seasoned very well. I can't stop thinking about it. We also got the eggplant carpaccio and both the breads that they are famous for. It was a very satisfying dinner and I'd for sure go back.

There a number of good Israeli restaurants in NYC. Laser Wolf is perhaps the best known. Bustan is among the best, and the best value. The chicken mushakan was particularly memorable. And the standard dishes, such as humus, were all as good as anywhere in the City. We will be back

Our flight was delayed 3 hours so we had time for a quick dinner. I've walked past here so many times and I'm so happy to have finally eaten in this hidden gem on the Upper west side. Located in Amsterdam between 83 & 84th this place has some amazing Euro-Mediterranean food. The Tuna Crudo was a tuna carpaccio with fresh thinly sliced raw tuna drizzled with olive oil, citrus - lemon, lime and orange, and topped with pistachios. The tuna melted in your mouth and the combination of citrus and pistachio just popped. The Schnitzel was perfect. My husbands family is from Austria and he said it was as good, if not better than his mothers, grandmothers and aunts. Now that's a compliment! It was served with a side of mashed potatoes that were so fresh and creamy. Service was excellent. The restaurant was busy, we didn't have a reservation and the hostess not only got us a table, but she came back to check on us during our meal. Our waiter was excellent. We mentioned we were heading to the airport and he got our food out quickly. Great last meal of our trip. I can't wait to go back.

Delicious food with plenty of vegetarian options and their house-made taboon bread is not to be missed. Cute and quirky decor but ambience is a bit low key compared to other restaurants in that neighborhood, which are more lively. Bartender and staff are very friendly but service can be a bit slow. The rude host is likely why the vibe is off in this otherwise great restaurant. The dude with dark hair and glasses literally shooed us away when we were trying to track down our check after a really long wait. He was trying to sell an overpriced bottle of wine to another customer and his visibly annoyed response to us (as if it's our fault)? "I am busy." He could have said "I'll be with you in a few" or "let me find your server" or any other normal civil response one expects from a host at a restaurant. Taking 1star off for the slow service and surly host. Everything else was aces.

I Bustan exceeds expectations with its top-quality menu, delightful ambiance, and outstanding service. It's a place where culinary creativity shines and every dish tells a story. Whether you're looking for a casual dinner or a special celebration, Boustan is a must-visit destination that guarantees a memorable dining experience. Don't miss out on this gem! This review is from experienced chef from middle east.

It was good for maybe the first 3 or 4, so perhaps better ordered for larger groups. Shepherd Salad (APP, 4/5) - Fresh, bright(as in vinegar), and herbaceous, we added feta cheese to it and it was perfect balance to our entree. Kofte Kebab (MAIN, 4/5) - Not too dry with packed flavor of all the herbs & beef, I really enjoyed my dish. Went great with all the other accouterments such as slightly cinged wedge of tomato and onion slices, all frolicking on a bed of warm rice that had a nice bite. Adana Kebap (MAIN, 4/5) - My colleague had this one, and I tried a piece. It was juicy and had no hint of gaminess which is always a plus for lamb. 3. Service (3/5) - This being a mom & pop store, I think they're short on staff. Usually they're all in the back cooking, so you do need to be a bit patient to flag someone down. But I'm sure they're more attentive during busy hours. (We went during weekday) Overall, Hakki Baba is a solid turkish mom & pop shop that delivers on great authentic flavor at a reasonable price. In the sea of turkish restaurants in Cliffside Park area, this one is one of my favorite. Pay them a visit!

The restaurant has an interesting history. Even though the original opened in Cresskill, NJ, it unfortunately has permanently closed. However, not only is the Edgewater location amazing, but it had the guts to open during COVID (2022), survived, and is succeeding. The restaurant is beautiful inside and outside. Their decorations are tasteful, the presentation of the food is award winning, and the service is stellar. I started with a Mocha Cappuccino and it was so good. Served in a large mug, an airy/creamy top, and had the perfect amount of mocha happiness throughout. Before the meal even started, we were graciously given Za'atar (a popular Middle Eastern spice blend with an earthy, tangy, and nutty flavor, toasted sesame seeds, and sumac, with salt). It was crunchy, drizzled with oil, and I enjoyed how each thin pita bite made the spices explode all over the table. The entrees were: Strawberry French Toast. The next was the Falafel Platter (chickpeas and fava bean balls, served with tahini sauce, pickles, turnips, tomato, and mint). The last selection was the Avocado Toast (Citrus cured salmon over multigrain bread, tomatoes, onions, capers & citrus vinaigrette). Not only were all of these dishes beautifully presented, but all were filling, as well. My Avocado Toast kept me full for the rest of the day and the salmon was enjoyably salty, thin, and delicious. I noticed a dessert in their display case and ordered it. The dessert was the Riz Bil Ashta (Lebanese rice cream, infused with orange blossom water, blended with milk and cheese, and topped with crushed pistachios). This dessert tasted like a regal custard and the pistachios added an enjoyable texture that makes it recommended. Of course, I had to cap the meal with a Mocchiato. This amazing beverage followed the rest of the meal..... delicious, eyes closed good, and every sip was full-flavored. Thank you, Madison Café and Grill, for presenting a memorable meal and I wish you continued success.

We ordered pretty much the same thing as the first time with the addition of the Cheese Borek to try out. It had a great balance of salty cheese flavor to the crispy phyllo dough. It went well with the Fattoush Salad (that came with the Mixed Platter). We were 3 people this time and the Mixed Platter for 2 was plenty of food along with all the appetizers we got. The Iced Mint Lemonade could have a bit more mint and less sugar but I found it sweet and refreshing. Their Hummus and Babaghanoush here are both excellent and pairs well with the warm pita they give you. Please do yourself a favor and check out El Jardin! The "host" didn't look us up in a system but just grabbed two menus and walked us to a table. Had he looked at our reservation, he would've seen we requested heated outside table and my son's nut allergies, but we got an indoor table. It winded up being very cold that day so we didn't correct him. I used the bathroom upon arrival and it was not clean. Smelled badly and garbage bin so overflowing that paper towel was accumulating on the floor around it. I believe if you want an idea of how clean the kitchen is, assess how clean the bathroom is. The server women are sweet, but their English wasn't fluent and communication took longer than usual. Sorting out my son's nut allergy (only allergic to cashews and pistachios but all other nuts are ok) became complicated. For example, she kept saying, "but there are no almonds" to which I replied, "yes, but almonds are ok." I had leftover pizza and asked for to-go containers but she didn't bring a pizza box. I started packing the slices in one of their round aluminum containers when I quickly ran out of room. I flagged her down and asked if they had a pizza box instead; to which she replied, "of course we do" (wonder why she didn't bring that in the first place seeing we had leftover pizza? Again, they were nice, tho. The taste of the dishes were so-so. I didn't wind up eating much, but again, this may just be preference. I have a pretty wide palette and I guess this is one of my limits. Their BK Heights location is more highly-rated and wonder if their cleanliness and service is better.
