Such a beautiful space--the decor alone makes you want to stay all night. Telio really nails that warm, inviting Greek/Mediterranean feel. But what was truly memorable was the food. Everything we ordered was exceptional--fresh, flavorful, and just honestly superior. The Greek salads were crisp and delicious, the octopus was tender and scrumptious, and both the grilled shrimp and salmon were cooked to perfection. Dessert was just as impressive--everything is made in-house, and you can tell. We had a Nutella with strawberries pudding-type creation that looked like a potted plant (and came in a little pot!) (I wish I remembered the exact name!) and a delicate phyllo pastry with Greek honey that was absolutely outstanding. What really made the experience, though, was the hospitality. The owner, Nicolas, was incredibly warm and welcoming, and the entire staff made us feel so taken care of. One of those meals where you keep saying "this is so good" after every bite. Bizarrely awful experience. Here's a short list of things that happened: 1) had to ask the server for bread 3 times. Doesn't come with the meal. They only had pita bread. 2) I brought my mother here for Mother's Day, and they forgot to bring her her entree and side. The waiter weirdly served me my entree, and my mother a small empty plate. Never returned to ask us if we had everything we needed, and let us sit there waiting for 10 minutes wondering why only 1 of us got our dinner. Eventually my food started getting cold, and when we asked the waiter where my mother's food was, he looked bewildered like he didn't understand what we meant. 3) he then blamed it on the order machine not working? Even though this didn't happen to anyone else at the restaurant? Machines don't have minds of their own, people make mistakes using them. He then tried to validate his excuse by showing us that he wrote down my mother's order on his notepad. Like that was supposed to offset that my starving mother didn't eat dinner on Mother's Day? Also, own up to your mistake bro and do something nice for us to show us that you understand what good service is. Total amateur hour. 4) tried to make up for it by bringing us this weird, gross dry dessert things that was awful. 5) when we asked for the rest of the food to go because we had had enough, they brought us aluminum containers and told us to pack it ourselves. I could see that at a cheap restaurant, but this was $150 for 2 people. The least you can do after butchering the experience is pack up our food in a to-go box. 6) there were 6 people at most dining that night, in a massive space that could probably sit 100+. We probably should have realized that was a bad sign and left before sitting down. 7) no discount on the check, or really any accommodations. They just didn't charge us for the meal they forgot. Gyro was not dry and very good! 12 dollars for sides was too expensive although they were VERY tasty! Lunch special was much more economical. We had tap water cause we poor. The bad reviews are very confusing! Came in on a Friday night. The restaurant is much larger than I expected. We had a nice table in the back. We ordered so much. It was all so good. Spreads, zucchini chips, fava, etc. also had some Greek wine. Plenty of vegetarian options. I just wish they had Revani for dessert! Service was attentive the entire time. The restaurant filled up around 7pm but the sound level was bearable. Maybe we had good service because my friend is Greek and was speaking to the staff in Greek? Finally there is an outstanding restaurant at that space at 102 and Broadway. A Greek-American friend recommended it as the best Greek restaurant she has been to so far in NYC. I have now gone several times for both lunch and dinner and been very impressed. The lamb chops, chicken lemon soup, and salads are as good as I have had in Greece. The fish is fresh and well-prepared. They even have my favorite salad that is hard to find in the US: shredded Romaine lettuce, feta cheese, fresh dill tossed in lemon vinaigrette. It is reasonably priced enough to make it my neighborhood restaurant. And the service is warm and prompt. Highly recommend! read more

We didn't get a chance to try the food here, but I still feel compelled to share our experience. We arrived at 5:20 pm on a Saturday night. The restaurant was not crowded -- a few people at the bar, one group at a table, and several visibly open seats. From the moment we walked in, the interaction felt unwelcoming. Upon seeing our 18-month-old in a stroller, the host immediately seemed guarded before any conversation about reservations or seating had even begun. When asked, we explained that we didn't have a reservation and were meeting friends for a drink during happy hour. He noted happy hour ended at 6 pm, which worked perfectly for us. He suggested the bar and asked how many were in our party -- four adults and one toddler. What followed felt like a series of barriers rather than an attempt to accommodate. We were told they only had high tables (fine -- our toddler could sit on our lap), then that there were only seats for two at the bar, and then questioned about what we planned to do with the stroller. We explained it was small, compact, and could be folded and kept beside us. At no point did the host attempt to look at options or offer solutions, despite the restaurant being mostly empty. Instead, each response felt like another reason we shouldn't be there, making it clear that we were viewed more as a nuisance than as customers welcome to spend money and support a neighborhood restaurant. This was especially disappointing given how family-oriented the Upper West Side is. I completely understand that restaurants get busy and that Saturday nights can be challenging, and not every restaurant is going to be as supportive of having a child during the busy dinner hours (whether I like it or not), but this was early evening, we planned to stay briefly, and we would have been gone well before the dinner rush due to an early bedtime. We ended up finding a busy restaurant around the corner that was more than happy to seat all five of us. We enjoyed a few glasses of wine, shared appetizers, and were surrounded by other families -- and we were out before the rush. I'm not saying don't go to Telio, in fact, I would try again! But first impressions matter, and I hope they reconsider how they welcome families who live just around the corner and want to support local businesses, even if only for a quick drink. read more

Stopped by for a quick bite with my son. We ordered the grilled calamari and chicken meatballs. Holy moly. It was all delicious. The meatballs were not dry at all. So much flavor. The feta spread under it was amazing. The octopus was easy to eat. The hummus?? I usually can be ok if I don't have hummus. Their hummus was so good I was eating it by itself. My son had their homemade lemonade and declared it was the best drink he ever had. The service was lovely as well. The only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars is because they have $7 wine on happy hour. Recently relocated and refreshed, the space feels bright and inviting, with plenty of room for a relaxed dinner. We started with the Greek salad, Brussel sprouts to die for, oysters, lentil soup and Shrimp Saganaki --both standout appetizers. For main course - we had the homemade crab/lobster ravioli, Seafood pasta, Imam Bayildi stuffed eggplant with onions, tomatoes and mushrooms seasoned perfectly, & filet of sole. I was a customer for years but I was very disappointed by my last visit. my reservation was ignored. I was seated at a high top in the sun, until I threatened to leave. Disappointing Customer Service, Be Careful... My waiter admitted that he misheard my order and brought me out something different. We immediately sent it back. So, first of all, I then had to wait about 10 minutes for my order to be ready. But, in the meantime, he offered me the dish that he had mistaken heard...said it was to "tide me over" and that he had already taken it off the charge. So, I accepted it. Before my real meal came, he came back and told us that since we had accepted the replacement, the manager had told him to charge us. That's just wrong. For dessert, we ordered greek yogurt with sour cherry sauce. It came without the sour cherry. He finally brought over 3 sour cherries from the bar (no sauce). The flavor of the sausage was good, but the presentation lacked being lumped on the plate. The service was definitely the weakest part of the experience. New places often take some time to get the service worked out, but given that this is not the first restaurant they have run I expected better. I've walked by here, hundreds of times and there's always a line to get in. Not one for reservations during the week, I was very happy when I was able to get a table the other night. A local UWS Greek Restaurant, there's plenty of competition and Telios stands out. Good food, good service. It took a while to get our food but when it arrived it was worth the wait. Greek Salad- Lettuce, tomato, onions, green peppers, cucumbers, olives,and feta cheese Shrimp and Scallop Scampi - Sautéed shrimps and scallops in garlic & caper wine sauce, served over rice. As I was leaving I met the manager and actually thought she was the owner so when she corrected me, I was shocked because she was so on top of service and our experience. I ordered something called Imam Baylidi. It's eggplant with a reduced tomato & onion topping. I received a 1-inch thick hunk of eggplant with the topping as advertised. Moussaka that was just not that great and a very greasy spinach pie with mostly pastry... it was round and twirled... hard to explain but I kind had to work for the spinach part. It wasn't very busy during a Friday night when it should be prime time which should have been a little suspicious... but my friend and I still wanted to try it. They have a nice happy hour menu list which was great for one to come and wine with spreads and small plates/appetizers, but their main meal was not impressive at all. Their gyro platter was just decent and their branzino was not worth anything close to the price set. Telio used to make an incredible salmon salad. You'd get a nice piece of perfectly cooked salmon in a delectable piccata sauce, alongside a hearty salad with beefsteak tomatoes, perfect lettuce and green peppers, and an incredible Balsamic vinegar dressing. It got me through many tough times and medical crises. I ordered it frequently and was so sad when they closed. I was so relieved when Telio was saved from closing and moved in with Good Enough to Eat. But I went there last week and I am STILL miserably ill with food poisoning. The salmon was "rare," which I decided to try. BIG MISTAKE. I spent the night after that dinner waking up every two hours to run to the bathroom. Also, the tomatoes in the salad were either one step from spoiled or completely spoiled. And they ruined the piccata sauce by adding sugar to it! Do not patronize Telio. Their quality has plummeted.
