My friend and I came to this super cute Greek restaurant for dinner. The space was lovely and mostly white, with blue lighting and pretty hanging lights. There was a cozy ambiance to the place. We decided to order from the prix fixe menu. For the first course, I went with the Avegolemono soup, which consisted of chicken, orzo, and egg, along with taste of lemon. This was nicely savory, hearty, and comforting. For the entree, I selected the Pork Loin with glaze sauce, broccoli rabe, and Greek fries. The Pork Loin was sliced, tender, with a smoky taste, covered with slightly sweet sauce. The flavors were bold. Greek Fries were satisfyingly crispy, with plenty of yummy seasonings and feta cheese crumbled all over. The dessert I chose was Nutella Mousse, which consisted of crushed Oreos and fresh berries. Although this did not feel very Greek to me, it was tantalizingly rich and creamy, full of Nutella and Oreo combined. Service was solid. Our waiter was welcoming and everything came out in a timely manner. I would be open to returning to try the Baby Lamb Chops or Salmon. read more

Seriously always a nice treat at Korali. The weekend brunch menus is such a great deal at $35 for 3 courses. When we go, we always get the spanakopita, greek salad, and for mains the stripped bass (which was so fresh on a huge bed of broccoli) and the eggplant stuffed with meat sauce. The owner here is tier one you hear me??? Greek hospitality, I can't say enough good things. Service was excellent, we stopped by on a Friday evening for dinner. We had chicken meatballs, shrimp and stuffed mushrooms to start. I don't eat shellfish, but the other two were super flavorful. My wife loved her shrimp. For the entrees my wife had the chicken souvlaki and I had the striped bass. Fish was cooked perfectly, well seasoned but not salty. The waiter was ceiling fan cool. Our drinks were on point. The manager is incredibly attentive--he takes care of everyone, noticing all the little details, offering surprise drinks or free desserts. Korali is always buzzing during dinner service, yet he manages to create a warm, welcoming sense of community. Some of our favorite dishes include: Greek Salad - Unlike many Greek restaurants, Korali's Greek Salad is full of flavor--refreshing and delicious. Korali Salad - Spinach, beets, feta cheese, and balsamic vinaigrette. So good! I am a bit fan of the beets they serve. Eggplant and Zucchini Chips - A standout appetizer, served with tzatziki. You just can't stop eating them. Greek Chicken Meatballs - My kids always want two orders of these. They're that good. Three Spreads - A must-try! You can choose any three spreads, served with a plate of warm pita. We usually get melitzanosalata (eggplant spread), tzatziki, and hummus. Grilled Octopus - The combination of capers, oregano, and red wine vinegar is perfect. Korali prepares this dish with a ceviche-like twist--refreshing and flavorful. Lamb Chops (Paidakia) - A must-try! The lamb chops are juicy, tender, and melt in your mouth with a beautifully simple, well-balanced flavor. Scallops - Always fresh, creamy with a nice sear, and large in size. A great value for the quality. Lavraki (Branzino) - You can't visit a Greek restaurant without having Branzino! It's the signature dish that shows off the chef's skills, and Korali's doesn't disappoint. One time, we celebrated Thanksgiving there with a large group (it's such a great restaurant, and so convenient ). I should have known, when I walked into the restaurant and almost all of the diners were at least 75 years old. I felt like I was at one of those all-inclusive resort restaurants in Florida, bland overcooked food included. I had the shrimp and scallop kabobs over rice. The shrimp and the scallop were overcooked to the point of being tough and rubbery. I couldn't finish my food and wasn't moved to take the leftovers home. Won't be returning here again. This is a beautiful little restaurant. You greeted immediately by a cheerful host. The restaurant is spotless. The lighting is pleasant. The menu is absolutely perfect. There are choices for everyone and everything is well portioned and prepared. The meals are plated beautifully. My eggplant salad, lentil soup and Korali salad were absolutely delicious. This is a good Greek spot/ addition to the upper east side. The Spanakopita was tasty, hummus and tzaziki sauce were great too. My friends said the greek salad and their shrimp dish was good as well. Our cocktails were very tasty. The one part I had an issue with was that the windows were left wide open on a pretty hot nyc summer night and there was AC going but it was not as cool in there as we would have liked or thought it would be. The table next to us also had the same complaint. Also there were little fruit flys around our table, possibly due to the windows being left open. While we waited for my bfs dad, we ordered a glass of the Greek red wine.. wish I could remember the name but it was the first one on the list. I wanted something light and fruit forward and the wine list is designed light to heavy so the server recommended the first one. (2) drinks are nothing to write home about. $10+ beers, meh wine, cocktails didn't appeal to us. (3) servers tried, which is why this is a 2/5, not a 1/5 (4) atmosphere fine. It looks like a Greek restaurant. We're on the UES, so not surprising, but the crowd is older. The only people there under 50, minus us, were out with their parents & grandparents 2/5. Went for lunch this week. Was greeted warmly at the door and seated promptly. The atmosphere had great Greek character and we received a lot of natural light through the windows - corner building - that was nice! We had excellent service. I always walk by this place in the neighborhood. I finally decided to stop in on a cold Tuesday night. My mom was visiting and we didn't want to venture too far from the apartment. We were immediately greeted by the friendly hostess and seated. The menus are on little tablets and its easy to navigate. You can click on each item and get a bigger description of each. I was also really impressed by the ambiance and decor. We shared two dips, the Fava (yellow split pea purée, evoo and lemon) and the taramosalata (cured carp roe, evoo, lemon juice and potatoes). Both were served with pita bread. I preferred the taramosalata but I think I would swap the dips to try one of the salads next time. We also shared the shrimp saganaki (a timorato sauce topped with feta). This was delicious and we enjoyed every last bit of the sauce. We also had a glass of wine each. We ordered a variety of items within our group, including the choice of 3 spreads (hummus, htipiti (red pepper feta), tzatziki), cheese saganaki, and tomatokeftedes as appetizers, and plaki, vegetarian moussaka, organic chicken, bifteki, and chicken souvlaki for the mains. All the spreads were great (everyone had a different favorite), and the saganaki was a big hit. For the appetizers, both the moussaka and the bifteki were very filling - definitely leftovers (but maybe you can eat it all if you have fewer apps?). The plaki was also well reviewed - the orderer had really been looking forward to and it did not disappoint. Really like the atmosphere, we were seated in the loft, which I really liked. I pass by Korali often and it is normally busy so I figured it was time to check it out. It is a nice looking restaurant with white walls and rustic wood and stone accents. We were seated upstairs and it was not too loud. The waitress brought out two types of bread, one was a wheat bread with seeds on the top and the other was a rustic white bread. Both were good dipped in the accompanying olive oil with oregano. Ordered: Korali chips ($15)- a heaping pile of thinly sliced fried zucchini and eggplant served with tzatziki. The chips were a little greasy but still tasty. They were a little stingy with the tzatziki. My friends and I were scraping the bowl to try to get the last of the dip. Cod Plaki ($29)- Korali bakes their cod in tomato sauce with sliced onions and serves it atop creamy mashed potatoes. The cod was cooked well but I prefer my cod not doused in sauce. If you like your cod prepared this way, I would consider ordering this dish. Galaktoboureko ($9)- Korali's desserts are phenomenal! This traditional Greek dessert is made of semolina custard covered in crispy filo dough and served warm. Nutella Mousse ($9)- hands down the best thing we had at Korali! If you are a fan of Nutella, don't miss this. The Nutella mousse is served in a mason jar topped with fresh strawberries. Overall: Korali is a nice Greek restaurant, however, I don't think I will be returning because there are other more reasonable Greek places that are just as good, if not better-- looking at you, Beyoglu! read more

Very nicely decorated inside, split levels provide more space than you'd think from outside. The top level for example would be good for a group for a birthday party or event. We went for lunch and had lamb sandwiches and chicken / avocado tomato sandwiches. Honestly both were great- very well presented and laid out, tasty and classy. Not enough places do good lamb, and this was the main reason we came up here to try it- it didn't disappoint. Reason I didn't give this 5 stars are that the dinner menu seemed fairly pricey, and there is no kids menu. My little guy was able to order pasta with butter so that worked out ok. read more
