    Tables on First Avenue

With noise at a deafening level I vowed not to return, but here's what happened. When my daughter and grand-dog Hank showed up for dinner, we were limited to eating al fresco. We strolled through the neighborhood and passed Botte. Not only did they have tables outside the entrance -- still too loud -- but there was additional seating yards away. Not so bad. "Want Italian?" I asked S. (Sure!) Hank was happy. S was happy. T is always agreeable. And I didn't care. We ate family style. Arugula and pear salad with gorgonzola and balsamic dressing. (My daughter said that she's had better. I liked it). Spaghetti vongole. (The pasta is homemade and while there were a lot of empty shells, there could've been more clams.) Diavola pizza. (The spicy salami was delish.) I realized my preference for Montepulciano wine at this restaurant so of course we ordered a bottle. Better get dibs in while it's still warm. While I'd happily sit outside again, I'm not going in. A girl has to stand her ground!

Botte UES is a local cozy Upper East Side spot with consistently Italian fare. The pizza is flavorful, & the service warm and attentive ~perfect for a relaxed meal!

Came here on a Saturday night without a reservation and it was pretty easy to get a seat. I got the penne allá vodka with shrimp and it was really yummy! I would come back if I were in the area.

Had my baby's baptism celebration here and it was very good! Everything from the food, service and ambiance was amazing. Jon capo (I think that's how u spell his name) was a great host to me and my family. I will be coming here to eat and if I need any private party room service again, I will definitely have them in mind! Thank you!

Food is blah! The kale salad had zero kale and the bolognese was tasteless! Definitely won't be having again! Delivery was fast, food was bad.

We ordered the ricotta appetizer which was large and delicious, the pear and arugula salad and the Kale Caesar. The Pear and Arugula was great and beautiful but the Kale Caesar was romaine not kale. Wasn't a problem but we were the only people in the restaurant and then a manger arrived and we couldn't hear his loud conversation behind the bar and his cursing using the F@ck word over and over again. It was loud and really annoying.

A solid neighborhood joint. There were plenty of seats on a Sunday night before 7 pm. The best part - a lot of stroller room! They have benches in the back so great for toddlers to sit and wiggle in. The staff is super nice and accommodating. The chicken parm was great. Perfectly flavored and I loved that they spared no expense with the cheese and sauce. Same with the fettucine, the sauce was loaded on, as well as the cheese. Probably not the most healthy, but it was delicious! A side of spaghetti came with the chicken parm and was perfect for the little one. Would definitely return to try other items.

Amazing service!!! Staff were so kind and attentive. Both food and drinks were super yum. 10/10 would recommend. Great spot for a Friday night on the UES!

An absolute delightful experience. Attentive and pleasant wait staff (no judgement on sharing plates!), food with balanced flavor combos and high quality ingredients, and a fun yet elegant interior (great lighting design, great playlist). Went for a quick meal at the end of a weekend, came out with a new UES favorite. 10/10.

Solid spot, the chicken parm with vodka sauce was really good but the pasta was very al dente almost so much so that it felt undercooked. Not sure if it was an off night but I've seen a few similar reviews. Ambiance was very nice and easy to make a res.

Juan the barman is an amazing bartender. The bar has the best restaurant seating in NYC. The backyard can fit 60.

I am very particular when it comes to Italian food (have an Italian Nonna), and Botte UES was surprisingly delicious. The calamari fritti were honestly the best I have had in New York. They were fresh, not rubbery, and served piping hot. The spaghetti alla carbonara was very good, but not the absolute best I have had (a bit too much sauce in my opinion), and the spaghetti vongole was pretty good as well. I didn't try the rigatoni vodka, but my friends enjoyed it. The ambiance was very cozy and comfortable, which is why I chose the restaurant for my birthday dinner in the first place. We sat in the back patio and the service was just fine for how empty it was once we got our food. Overall, I would come back here for a reasonably priced Italian meal (for NYC).

So I've been bc king to botte for a few years and this was probably one of the worst times. Here's a breakdown. We shared a pizza (during happy hour) and it tasted like one of those microwaveable pizzas. Not a lot of flavor and had hot spots. I got the spicy rigatoni and it was just fine. Nothing to write home about. We also had the meatballs and they were 100% microwaved. The outside of them were hot and the internal wasn't. The service was very egg our waiter was usually nowhere to be found. No "how's everything" "can I get you something" so it made the experience very "let's just get the check!" Their parm cheese is kept in the fridge so when it arrived at our table it was cold and clumpy which didn't mix into the dishes well. Our dessert was also microwaved not put into the oven. We got the Nutella tart and it tasted mediocre. Very chocolatey, which is on brand for Nutella, but there were hot pockets in the Nutella, so somewhere extremely piping hot and others were cold, which indicates that the tart was microwaved. I'm really disappointment because this was once my go to Italian place! Now... not so much

The biggest question then became, where to go? We needed a place that was relatively easy to get to that would hold close to 100 people. Jungly was a contender for several reasons - it's location, size, vibe, and menu all seemed to check off. It also helped that I had done business with the owner previously at one of his other spots. It seemed like the natural choice, so I went ahead with the booking. Jungly is located in LIC - it's a pretty convenient spot as its close to the LIRR and the subway. Parking can be a challenge, but luckily I found a spot only a block away. The space itself is nicely set up - walking in you're immediately greeted by the bar area with dining areas both to the left and the right. Due to our size, they closed the place to the public and we were able to freely roam the bar area and one of the dining rooms. In addition to standard tables, they have some lounge space and high tops by the bar. The vibe is somewhat modern - a black/grey color scheme paired with neon and golds. It looks like the space could easily be converted to a club-like atmosphere. Since we were here for a private event, the food was set up buffet style - we chose three apps, four mains, and two sides. Ultimately, for apps we chose pita bread with dips, steak tacos, and shrimp tacos. For mains we chose fried chicken sliders, smashed beef sliders, cacio e pepe, and roasted chicken. For sides, we got fries and Brussels sprouts. In general, all of the food was tasty; the strongest dishes were the tacos, fries, and the chicken tacos. The tacos were generously filled, the fries were the crispy skin style, and the chicken sliders were nice and crispy. The weakest for me was the cacio e pepe - not much flavor and just not really a standout IMO. My communication with management to set up the event were a little staccato, though in the end everything worked out. For the most part, my communication with them was consistent in the days leading up to the event. Service the night of the event was overall good - they were very accessible but I found that they could have replenished the food a little faster in response to the rate it was being taken from the buffet. The bar, on the other hand, was great - both in service and variety of liquor available. Overall, we had a great event at Jungly. They were professional, fair, and delivered on the goods. I would definitely consider hosting another event there, or dine here on my own.

The bartender, the one person who should be welcoming and engaging, came across as rude and lacked any charisma. On a Friday night, good energy behind the bar makes a huge difference, and that was completely missing. I ordered a margarita, which is one of the simplest and most common cocktails to make. I asked for it really sweet with plenty of salt on the rim. Instead, it came out barely sweet and with almost no salt. For a $17 margarita, I expected much better. I've had to return the drink because I've had better margaritas for $12 at other places. While waiting for my friend, I had to wait with a glass of water because I didn't trust the way they made the drink. The bartender told me I either needed to order another drink or move, which felt unnecessarily rude and unwelcoming. To be fair, the food was good and the space itself is nice. However, the bar service left a very poor impression. There are plenty of more affordable places where the staff are friendly and make guests feel welcome. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend this place. Give this place a 6.5
