    HALLOUMI & FARRO SALAD
    Tamara L.

Asked my dad where he wanted to go for Father's Day and his response was "Viand!" We love this local spot for special events and every day. He is pescatarian but loves soup. He gets so bummer when places don't have a vegetarian soup. But Viand had the vegetable soup which he loves! Then he had an impossible burger with fries. I had the halloumi salad with faro. Simple but FULL of halloumi, grilled to perfection! Yum!

Received order with a coin in it. When we brought this to their attention, they did not apologize, lacked understanding,, and charged us the full amount However, they brought out meal and replaced it quickly.

Looking for a good breakfast spot on the upper west side? Viand has you covered. We stopped in on a rainy summer morning and quickly found ourselves seated at an old wooden table with hot black coffee. Watching regulars mosey in and out, we ordered plate after plate of eggs, has browns, bacon, toast, fruit cups, orange juice, tea, and numerous refills of coffee. Each dish was prepared just right and hit the spot, satisfying our craving for breakfast eats. Viand is definitely a neighborhood gem - you should give it a try if you haven't already!

My students from the west side rave about this place, so we stopped in for lunch on a school trip to AMNH. Everyone enjoyed a huge plate of food, and the staff masterfully managed orders from the 9 of us. The booths were clean, tables wiped, and I enjoyed a delicious root beer float with a generous scoop of ice cream, as a float should be. Despite being crowded, the post-Covid transparent barriers kept the noise to a minimum. So for a party of 10 or 2, Viand provides ample goodness on all levels.

Viand tries to fill the space of cozy yet chic diner on the Upper West Side. While the food has some inventive touches on diner classics (and more than ample portions), it doesn't justify the price tag. We stopped in for a late breakfast/lunch on a Saturday and got seated right away: service was efficient for the size of the crowd. The menu spans the usual mix of omelettes, sandwiches, griddled goods, and more: she did an order of creme brulee French toast and I went with a grilled veggie panini. The French toast came out as four big slices, coated in coarse burnt sugar and filled with a custard cream; it was delicious without being cloying though the strawberries on the side tasted like they'd been frozen and chilled. The panini was solid: grilled eggplant + squash + peppers + onions with goat cheese on toasted ciabatta. The vegetables were roasted well without being overwhelmed with char

I love how Viand feels like a upscale diner, but the food is still pretty affordable despite the pretty vibes. Was able to walk in before noon without a seating issue although if you came after noon there would be more of a wait. - Lox Benedict - I thought this was a pretty solid benedict. The lox was half cooked, probably from the heat emitted by the egg, which made it an interesting texture to eat. I really appreciate the hash browns as they are slightly charred and were crispy at the same time. - Chicken Souvlaki - I was not the biggest fan of the chicken as there were some more tendon-y parts of the chicken. I would much rather get chicken schwarama from the streets. The fries were yummy though, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. - Huevos Rancheros - I was not the biggest fan of this, in a way I felt like this wasn't super worth my money as there were not a lot of ingredients on the dish. But maybe that's as expected from the description of the dish on the menu. Overall, okay brunch place. I think next time if I come I'll just get the benedicts, although I will have to say that both their hash browns and fries were excellent.

Size matters. Portions here are huge. Nice diner set up with hard working super friendly servers and staff. Easy to go here with kids, and they have lollipop treats. We arrived around 11:30 and got a table in 5 minutes, 4 adults and 3 kids. Within 10 minutes, the line was out the door. Great kids' menu; ours shared grilled cheese, big fluffy French toast, and nice pasta in butter. I failed to get a photo of Croque Monsieur special with tomato salad. Their egg options are good. Gyro and Cuban sandwich platters are huge and so flavorful, as is triple decker club. Fast paced, and they turn tables fast as they can. Clean and lively setting. Over the last few years, I've been here a number of times. Love it. Sandwiches now all over $20, yet sandwiches and platters are all humongous. Tasty. And size matters!

Hot honey, butter, YES condiments(ketchups, butters, syrups, s&p, jams, etc.)
    Goodness I.

Had lunch here under a reservation with a group of 9! The restaurant itself felt kinda cramped with how many people were there. Had to ask our waitress for more silverware and cups because there weren't enough. Some food items took awhile to come out, but other things were normal. Food was pretty good!! The chicken was kinda small for the size of the waffle.

This spot is perfect for families who want as nice as possible of a night out. There's a decent kid menu, a nice alcohol menu, and lots of other food menus. Our waitress knew that we'd want to order kid food right away, which was right on, and she also kept asking if we wanted another drink (but not in a pushy way). The outdoor seating is a nice option, and there's some plant coverage if you don't want to feel like you're right on the street. I wish the kid mac and cheese didn't come out so hot. Yes, it was tasty, but maybe there's another way to make it for the kids. French fries were perfect. I didn't think the hot chicken sandwich special was so great; good idea, but the pieces didn't really mesh well together, and it was very hard to eat. I'll definitely be back! Thanks for one of the best nights out with my family (young kids) in a while.

I love a place with outdoor seating. I've been walking by this place for the past two years and finally decided to give them a try. The food was really good and the vibes were great. My boyfriend said the eggs Benedict was the best he ever had. It was absolutely delicious. My omelette was good but not the best I ever had. What I really loved was the homemade blackberry jam they served my toast with.

Honestly, their menu does little to no justice in depicting their specialties. I really love that their selections are limited. In my opinion, it allows room to perfect their crafts. Room for improvements: A small suggestion for the lobster croquettes, I could not taste the lobster; however, my friend said she did. I also jokingly told my friend that the only thing missing from this restaurant is a restroom attendant serving me warm towels lol. The restroom also had a vibe to it with dimmed lighting and reusable washcloths. I already told bestie that when I visit again, "this will be our spot." Check it them out!

Fool me once and it's shame on you, fool me twice and the shame is mine for getting us into a war based on lies and greed?" Yeah something like that. Anyways, I typically don't believe when people say something is close so whenever I visit her we just order in delivery rather than motivate (ie put on a bra) and go out. But dang it this is literally. Right. Next. Door. As in I can sit on the deck outside of the restaurant and look in her living room. Smh. I say all that to say IVE BEEN MISSING OUT!! Her bday was this weekend so she booked a large table for family and friends. I was relieved to see they had valet. Parking is atrocious in this development so to only pay $10 to be 10 feet from the door was awesome. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the staff know her well and treated her as a valued guest. Here's the rundown: We went for BRUNCH. They have a prix fixe for $41 of most of the brunch items and it includes 2 Bellini, 2 mimosas, or 2 Bloody Marys. Good right? Welp what you don't know is that their cocktail menu is incredible so to heck with the prix fixe. We got mimosas at home!! Between the 10 of us we got cocktails, appetizers, entrees, desserts, coffee. Highlights: -Service was spectacular. Wesley was On It! By the time we finished eating there was another party of 10+ seated right behind us that he was servicing. I hope he enjoys the reward$ of his hard work! Make it rain on em Wesley! -Fat friendly seating. No arms, solid chairs, comfortable cushions. We were there for 4 hours and my booty was never sore. -Food. We tore it up and it was all delicious. My half of the table had the farm house breakfast sando, the fried chicken sando, French omelette, huevo rancheros. We shared the crab hush puppies, wings, calamari, goat cheese salad, and blueberry pancakes. I was nosey and saw that some of my other table mates ordered the skirt steak and eggs and the short rib. -Drinks. I know my husband loves mango so I suggested he get the smoked mango drink. I didn't know it came with theatrics. Dinner and a show?! Btw by the time our table was done almost everyone had ordered one. Lychee martini, Paloma, old fashioned, midnight espresso. Also all very good! -The View. Our party was too large to sit outside but we did sit right at the floor to ceiling windows. In between birthday wishes and food comas we watched the boats, jet skis, and undulating waves of the Hudson. Previous posters are correct - the place is pricey. But high key the people who live in that area are already paying a premium for everything else sooooo. Now, I DONT live in that area lmao so this will be a rarer treat for me. But I was happy to celebrate my cousin's birthday in a place that she loves. Awesome experience - I look forward to returning! 10/10 would put on a bra for this and walk downstairs lol

Ambiance: This place has a nice ambiance, definitely very "New York" -- dark (you can't see how dirty the floor is) and loud music (maybe too loud). We sat upstairs (we had a reservation) and of all the people on the top there was a party of 4 (us), a party of 8 (all dudes celebrating something) and the rest of the tables were on a DATE - which I thought was funny. Service: We were served by Ann-Marie who was so delightful. She was kind, super nice, and took the time to speak to us (which is basically how we figured out she wasn't a native New York City person). She gave us good food suggestions and we were very happy with our selection. Food: Here is what we ordered * Steak Frites: My two boys got the steak frites and I have to say the steak was awesome! I had a bite of each of theirs and they each ordered it differently (one Medium Rare/Medium and one Medium) and they both were prepared PERFECTLY. The fries were overflowing. * Caeser Salad with Salmon: My wife got the salad with Salmon (they only have a few salad options) and she enjoyed it. * Prawn and Crab Risotto: I got this and I have to say it was VERY bland. I wouldn't get this if you are looking for taste. I had to put salt and pepper on it to make it have any semblance of taste. Value/Price: I would say this is not over priced but it is not cheap either...bill is attached. I would recommend it to folks who are looking for a good place to either go out on a date or a family type meal.

He mentioned to me that he knows a place in the neighborhood that has really good burgers. I usually go to my familiar spots, but I figured the way he was talking this place up for their burgers, I might as well give it a shot. Why not right? So we enter "Nobody Told Me", which is a new venue in the neighborhood, at least to me. It was cool. We sat at the bar. I asked for a menu and the Bartender just pointed to the menu that's on the wall. So I made my selection of Burger. I'm honestly probably a boring Burger person because for the most part I just like meat, cheese and bun. I mean, a nice fried egg over easy doesn't hurt. I've also done that with some mac & cheese, and it was incredibly delicious but also, very gluttonous to say the least. lol. In any case, I ordered my burger. Meat, cheese, and bun. I think it was a double Patti Smashburger maybe? And it came with some fries. The burger was good. It was actually better than what I expected. It was juicy without being all bloody and had flavor. It was also a pretty good size.. I mean I couldn't finish it.. I don't eat huge portions or meals.. The fries were good too. I might request a bit more crisp on the fries if I go back. That's just me.. But they were good nonetheless. Burger and fries also had a bit of a lite oniony flavor to them.. I guess to add some flavor.. As far as the vibe in the spot, it was cool. Room was dim as it was day time outside so it was chill. Seemed to be a pretty young crowd of new people who have recently moved in the neighborhood. Who knows? I've only lived here for 50 years.. but it was a cool experience.. They had some cool music playing lightly so you can carry a convo.. In any case, if you are looking for a pretty good burger, I'd give this place a try.. And there you go! Have a great one yall! -Ray

We had originally wanted to go to Jacob's Pickles on the UWS, but surprise, no reservations available. I decided to find a new place in the general neighborhood, and I saw that the Yelp and Google reviews for TGF were uniformly excellent. So we gave it a try. The photos online are very flattering... IRL, the vibe comes closer to "hole in the wall" than upscale casual dining. There are only about 40 seats maximum in the whole restaurant. The kitchen is tiny- they could only handle one table at a time, although to be fair, we didn't have to wait very long for our order to be ready. But in retrospect, I understand why they maintain such appearances... because the food at The Grand Feast is so freakin' great, if they made the decor any more attractive, they would have lines down the block and there would be no way for the kitchen to keep up. The wait staff could not have been nicer or more attentive. Menu was varied and interesting and reasonably priced. Portions were generous. We started with a mushroom truffle risotto and Caesar salad, which we shared around the table. Both were delicious. The risotto was perfectly al dente, fragrant and cheesy and gone in about twenty seconds. The salad was crisp and fresh, and the dressing must have been homemade because it put store-bought versions to shame. For our main courses, I had the duck l'orange. Cooked a precise medium, tender and expertly seasoned. It was served with a butternut squash puree (my only complaint was that there was not enough of it on the plate), crispy tasty Brussels sprouts, and a sweet tangy sauce that made me want to lick the plate clean. My son had the lamb shank- it was HUGE, and fell off the bone like it had been slow cooked for 14 hours. My wife and daughter shared the dinner special- a tomahawk chop. It could easily have fed three people (and possibly four). They were rhapsodizing about it, so of course, I had to try it for myself. I say this without hyperbole- I have dined at virtually all of the best steakhouses in NYC. This tomahawk blew all of them out of the water. It literally melted in your mouth. You could effortlessly cut it with just a fork. The ideal blend and saturation of salt and pepper. Served with two sides- a gigantic bowl of crispy french fries and those yummy sprouts. Even with two people sharing, and the other two picking, fully a third of it made its way home with us. And then... the surprise. I'm not sure how it came about. Again, I told no one at the restaurant that it was my birthday when I made the reservation. No one in my family called ahead- they didn't even know where we were going. Someone must have overheard our table conversation, or it was some arcane magic that was responsible... but a crème brulee with candles was brought to the table, and Happy Birthday was piped over the house speakers, and I was serenaded by the staff and patrons. I really did not expect it, and I was so touched by the gesture. It was a gift. Oh, and the crème brulee was divine. As was the carrot cake and chocolate mousse that we ordered for dessert. Even my coffee was great, LOL. A fantastic way to end the meal. Now I know why TGF keeps things so low key. I'm sure that the residents of that particular neck of the woods must know full well about The Grand Feast... and I'm sure they hold this knowledge close to the vest, because why would they want to risk having this neighborhood treasure overrun by outsiders? In fact, pretend you didn't read this review. Because I want to be able to go back to The Grand Feast again, and again, and have it be as amazing as it was tonight.
