I'm not a fan of oysters at all however Mya was so great in helping me choose the perfect ones for my taste to try. I love Crave! I have been here twice and think it's one of the best upper scale restaurants here in the UWS. Super yummy cocktails and really friendly service. I've gotten the lobster curry both times I've been, and it is so delicious. Other notable apps include the crispy rice and the octopus. I would honestly pass on the fish tacos - the shells were weird and cardboardy and took away from the fish flavor. The tuna was delish and had a great smoky elote corn. I've had this spot bookmarked for quite a while and it was finally time to knock this spot off the list. We went ham on the oysters and tried a variety of different oysters that they imported both from west coast and east coast, fresh water and salt water. Pricing can range vastly up to $4.50. So yes, this can get expensive, but well worth it, especially if you go during their oyster happy hours between 4-6PM, which we unfortunately missed at the time. Aside from the oysters, entrees included the Thai Lobster Curry ($48), which was a chu-chee curry with charred red onion, japanese eggplant, thai apple eggplant, fresh bamboo shoots. It was recommended to also order the Garlic Chive Griddled Rice ($12) with this dish, which definitely went very well with the curry itself. I ordered the Seared Rare #1 Yellowfin Tuna ($45) consisted of coriander adobo, mexican corn, smashed fingerling potatoes, queso fresco, pickled onion, guajillo salsa. Eating each ingredient in one big bite tasted really well. They taste great separately as well. Service is great here. Amazing experience here. We came to celebrate my gf passing her LMSW exam and to our delight, they had martinis for $10 (all day Monday) and $1 oysters (also on Mondays)! Oysters were delish and fresh and martinis were strong and made to our liking. To make it even better, the service was phenomenal. We had the best waitress- she was super helpful and never rushed us. Cute and spacious space with very on theme decor. I initially found this place in search of happy hour oysters. They offer $2 special oysters which rotates off their normal oyster menu. Food was alright but prices did not match the menu that appeared online. They need to update the prices to what is current. My only complaint is the service took a long time to get our food out. Oysters came out pretty fast after drinks but we were waiting over 40min for the entrees. The restaurant wasn't even half full so it didn't make a lot of sense why our table was being served so slow. $2 oysters were originally $3.5 so that's a solid deal. Went to Crave Fishbar (UWS) for dinner with a group of five. The space is comfortable, not too many tables, which was nice not being on top of other diners. I also appreciated that there wasn't music blasting, which made for easy conversation. We had a round table, which was ideal for a group. We started with oysters (mix of East and West Coast varieties) and the salmon sashimi tosta, which was flavorful with a kick. For mains, our table tried a range: fish tacos, grilled barramundi, Thai lobster curry, and seared tuna over corn, all beautifully presented. I ordered the Spicy Yellowfin tuna sushi roll (Calabrian chile, basil, garlic-broccoli rabe) along with Brussels sprouts. Both were good but not great, the sushi especially felt a little heavy-handed on flavor and spice, overwhelming the fish itself. At $22 for six pieces, it felt overpriced, and in hindsight I should've gone with a classic entrée instead of sushi at a non-Japanese spot. We also shared three desserts: cookie, carrot cake, banana pudding which were a nice change of flavor after the rich, spicy food. Overall: there were many seafood options, and a nice atmosphere for groups. I tried this place for Winter Restaurants Week and picked it because they keep their outdoor seating open year round and actually are willing to let people sit there in the winter! This is huge for my friends and I as we still take COVID precautions, which largely means only eating outside. They also have strong heaters, but the electricity was out, something the restaurant warned me about in advance but we picked a warmer night and it was all good. The food was great and the staff couldn't have been lovelier. I started with the warm crab sushi, which was very good, and absolutely loved my barramundi entree. Perfectly cooked, high quality fish. Dessert was the weakest course as the only choice was a warm skillet style chocolate chip cookie with ice cream, but it was still delightful. I would definitely come back, especially for their extensive happy hour and hospitality. They have a great HH which brings in a lot of folks but outside of HH it's still a good deal for the quality. I had heard so many good things about Crave Fishbar, and maybe it's just not then place for me. A lot of the ingredients that weren't the fish, tasted premade or even canned/jar. It had that plastic taste to a lot of things. The oysters were just fine. But they had a good selection of choices I will say that. The salmon sashimi tostada was easily the best part of the meal for me. But I will say that the avocado felt eerily similar to the creamed guacamole you buy in a plastic container at the grocery store. It had the same taste and feel to itt. The Seared Yellowfin tuna was a little confusing to me, the tuna itself as a quality of fish felt totally fine but the seasoning on it had almost nothing to it but "spicy". It wasn't flavorful at all and had no salt so it just tasted like nothing and was only a textural experience. The corn and potatoes were fine but the tomato sauce with chipotle felt like it came from a can or jar. It had a metallic taste to it. Not pictured, The Nashville Fish Tacos, were a big dissapouintment. It was lacking any sort of seasoning and flavor. And the fish was really fishy tasting. Only came here because it seemed like a healthy non-greasy spot when we were told it would be an hour wait at Jacob's Pickles (which funny enough is greasy af, so maybe Crave did save us after all lol). Let's start off with the great: the watermelon sangria is delicious as is the tuna roll. Then it kinda falls off from there. We had the calamari, ok-ish. My husband had the breakfast sandwich... which tastes like a bodega bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese (made at home). And I had the sushi bowl... which is salmon, rice, avocado, and watermelon radish? Eh it was just not it. For a place that claims to be a fishbar, I expected more beyond oysters and whatever else. Crave had been on my radar for a while, so I decided to organize a friends brunch there. We started our brunch with oysters for the table, which are priced $1.5 each for Sunday brunch. I forget the variety they served on our visit (definitely east coast), but they were super fresh and briny and tasted delicious. My meal was just okay. I had wanted the Fish Stew, which I found out they only served for "Sunday Supper," so the amazing waitress (Gwen) talked me into ordering their special Lamb Burger. The burger was just okay, and I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. Oh, and I later learned that it was $28 - yikes. Definitely not worth it. Two of my friends ordered the Poké Bowl entrée. The dishes were super small, and one friend indicated that the texture was weird because of the addition of mung bean sprouts. I don't mind mung bean sprouts, but I can't say I've ever had them on a Poké Bowl. One of my friends did enjoy his meal--the Omelet with Crab and Gruyere. I had food envy when this dish came to the table because it did look quite tasty. Final Thoughts: There was probably a good reason I could get a reservation at Crave when everything else around was booked up. It truly was just okay. I likely would not return to Crave except maybe to hit up their $1oyster Happy Hour after work. read more

What was different than most places, they gave you a fish place card with the start/stop time. I got mimosas and my husband got beer which was in a can. The mimosas were more on the orange juice side and I had wished I could swap it for a different juice since I'm not a huge fan of oj, but that wasn't an option. Our food and drinks came out in a reasonable fashion. I was in between the squid ink pasta and the Nashville fish tacos, and ultimately landed with the tacos. I ordered the 4 piece tacos, but 2 only came. They did have a kick to it and the fish was cooked nicely, but I felt like it needed a good spicy sauce because once you got into the fish it overall tasted bland and I asked for more limes and salt to give it more flavor. When my waitress returned I mentioned I had ordered the 4 piece tacos and she had made the correction. Service was good, I thought our waitress was good about checking on us and seeing if we wanted more drinks and our table was lopsided and she tried to fix it. My husband's tuna was paired with corn, he felt as thought the piece of tuna was not one of the best he tasted and I thought the combination of a southwest flavored corn and sauce with a delicate tuna didn't work. This place was awesome! I came here for my birthday and everything was so good. I loved the decor; it reminded me of the Hamptons. As for the food, their oysters were slightly on the smaller size for other seafood restaurants I've been to but considering the fact that this was middle of the city and a place near the ports, it was great! They have a great $1.50 daily choice oysters that were better than the ones we chose ourselves haha. I think this place had the best squid ink pasta I've ever had. We have been coming to Crave Fishbar on the UWS for years, have always enjoyed our meals, and always consider it a special night, especially for the oysters. Tonight, however, it was wretchedly bad on all fronts. We ordered 2 dozen oysters - Wellfleets at $2.50, expensive enough, but Kumi's at $5.50, because they are always worth the splurge. We waited 30 minutes for oysters that were finally served at room temperature, almost dry in texture, and as flavorless as if they had been rinsed in fresh water. The Wellfleets were tiny and Kumi's were almost flat, without the deep cups that they are famous for. Not what anyone should expect for nearly $100. We tried to compensate by ordering a dozen cherrystones (at $5.50). And we waited another 30 minutes before they served a plate of very large quahogs more suitable for chowder or bait than raw consumption. We tried a couple, gagged, and sent the plate back. Needless to say, we left the restaurant $300 poorer, still hungry, and shaking our heads at the terrible quality of the seafood and worse service ( on the kitchen not the waitress). Restaurants have bad nights, a happy hour on Friday may have been testing their limits but we'll think twice before we return. read more

My friends and I came here for oysters during happy hour and this place did not disappoint!! The oysters were delicious, they were freshly shucked as they were being served and you could taste the difference. The server made a mistake in my order, I had ordered an oyster slider but they gave me a regular slider instead. The manager took care of it so graciously though, not only did they take that slider off the menu but they also gave me a free drink as an apology. I was very happy with the service.
