Anthony F was our server and Jackson T. Was also helping and he was wonderful and he packed up the aoli that I asked for and was so kind. Beautiful inside Great service Hospitality was great Food was delicious and cooked amazing. All food accommodations were taken into consideration. Drinks were good. Place was very clean and the server Anthony even wiped the table after we got some sauce spilled which was so kind. If I ever visit again I will definitely come back here! read more

My family and I had just finished at the Met and were looking for a late lunch/early dinner before heading home. One of my brothers had suggested Home Kitchen - since it was close by with an inoffensive menu and good reviews, we decided to give it a try. That being said, we took the short walk over from the Met to check it out. Home Kitchen has an almost unassuming exterior besides the outdoor seating it pretty much blends into its surroundings (not a bad thing). Walking in, the size and setup is typical of a neighborhood Manhattan spot. It's not a large space, but is decently-sized with a bar immediately to your left and tables scattered throughout. The decor is fine, nothing too noteworthy but they have several NYC-esque pictures on the walls which I thought were a nice touch. HK offers brunch on Saturdays and Sundays in addition to their all-day menu. We were there during the changeover from brunch to dinner service, so we ordered from the latter menu. The selections were mostly American dishes - some apps, mains, pastas, salads, and sides. I wasn't in the mood for anything too outrageous so I decided to get their burger. This was relatively simple, cooked to my liking and topped with lettuce, tomato, and my choice of cheese (I chose Swiss). The burger was good - tasty and I appreciated the thickness of the patty. The burger came with fries which were fries. Service was great - everyone was super friendly and made us feel very welcome; I would honestly say that's the most noteworthy thing about my experience. Overall, while I wouldn't consider Home Kitchen a destination spot by any means, it's a solid neighborhood eatery and an inoffensive option if you're hungry after visiting the Met. read more

Comfortable place with brick walls, fresh food (they advertise comfort food), great neighborhood, low prices for what you get, and helpful, friendly service. Several different salads - from the basics to a beet and goat cheese salad. Appetizers ranging from oysters to meatball sliders. Can get chicken, beef, salmon, or vegetarian. read more

I've walked past this place SO many times but I kept forgetting to go... well, I finally did and it was WORTH it! Cozy atmosphere, fantastic service (thanks Sergio! You are a gem!) and great food. We shared the crispy artichoke salad (divine!) and I had the snapper on special while my dining partner ate the 1/2 roast chicken. They were lovely with preferences and substitutions, which was so appreciated, and even split the salad for us. I really want to return for the lobster special ($60 with corn & slaw, call Monday to preorder for Tuesday dinner) which looked amazing. read more

This is clearly one of the best restaurants in the Upper East Side. The menu is filled with a variety of outstanding meals, all of which are delicious. The service is also helpful and excellent. And the ambiance is comfortable and relaxing. Home kitchen has become my favorite restaurant in the UES. read more

Lovely outdoor seating with beautiful flowers and umbrellas. server was friendly and polite. $14 cream of mushroom soup tasted good, bowl portion. white bean salad @ $19 was very disappointing. maybe 2 cups of arugula and yellowy old baby spinach, a ton of red opinion, 2 cherry tomatoes, less than 1/4 cup cannellini beans, less than a 1/4 cup feta, was supposed to have peppers, there were none, nice vinaigrette. maybe $1 worth of ingredients for $19. just an awful overpriced salad. lots of options in the area, wouldn't go back read more

I frequently visit New York from my home in Vermont, 10 days every month, some months, more. Home Kitchen is my first choice for lunch and dinner. The food is terrific. The real neighborhood vibe--warm, friendly, familiar, unhurried--is what brings me back every time I'm in the city. The staff are fantastic. The martinis are perfectly crafted. Home Kitchen is for anyone who wants an authentic feel of NYC and the UES. read more

My wife and I stopped in here after a long day of walking around the Met. It was only a few blocks away so it was pretty convenient. The staff was very friendly and the food was good. We shared the fried cauliflower bites which were tasty, but I didn't really like the sauce. We had the spaghetti and the cheese ravioli, and both were good. My only objection to the ravioli was the portion felt small. Definitely a nice spot to check out if you're in the area. read more

Planned to order a sandwich, switched to the pot pie when it arrived at a nearby table... oh, my!!! SO DELICIOUS!! Perfectly homemade-as-momma's ... the crust, tender chicken and flavorful filling... served piping hot on a rain soaked afternoon. I'd return tomorrow to get another taste, if I weren't headed back to Texas. Bonus points to the charming owner, and manager... both guys were a welcome addition to a memorable lunch. I'll be back! read more

Exact same bowls that we used to have at my house when I was a kid! Brought me back in time while eating the fresh strawberries! Enjoyed meeting the staff, especially a young lady named Candace, who, like myself, is from the south. Brought a tear to my eye to see such respectful manners and kindness in today's world. What a great place to rest my legs and warm my feet on such a cold day right before "snowmageddon" sets in later this evening. Great "home" service and atmosphere. Tripp from Mississippi! read more

Absolutely loved this place! The food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked--easily one of the best breakfasts I've had. What a find. Finished at the Met and looked on Yelp for something close by. So friendly and nice atmosphere. We were there for lunch and had their short rib grilled cheese! Yummy! We had intended to go to Aunt Jake's around the corner for pasta. They were having a pasta class and the bartender was incredibly rude. We found this place on yelp and it was just as people reviewed. Easy relaxed bistro with good basic food very well cooked. Each of our dishes were delicious and the preparation of the vegetable sides were delicious. Waiter was friendly and helpful, but the service was little less attentive than I would have liked. But that could have been that it was an incredibly slow night and we all know what happens on slow nights... Excellent food though read more

Everything went well service the food we had steak salad, and potatoes, and the fried calamari just delicious

What a find! Fresh cooked food in a casual clean restaurant. Sergio was a charismatic server who was very attentive. Strawberry salad, short ribs sandwich & chicken pot pie were all good. Thanks for a delicious lunch. read more

The chicken pot pie, which looks so good in the photos, was really disappointing. The pastry was great, but the veggies were undercooked and there were no chunks of chicken, just shreds of it, which included hard pieces of cartilage. After eating about half of it, I had to stop. The fried chicken looked great, but there seemed to be no seasoning in the breading, so it was really bland. read more

This place was good enough for me to come with two different groups of people two weeks in a row. I got different dishes each time I came and enjoyed them both. The food definitely feels home cooked (in a good way) and fresh! The one odd thing to me is that a dish like egg plan parm or chicken parm doesn't come with pasta. For a new restaurant this place was pretty busy and felt like it was full of locals. Note-- The staff is super nice, but they are still getting the hang of things. Came for late night happy hour (8-10) and it is worth. Oysters are $2 a pop and cocktails are $12. We got a cocktail each, a dozen oysters, and cajun fries. It was nice out so we decided on outdoor seating. Service is not as fast outside but it is alright. The cocktails are on the strong given, given that it's HH prices. The oysters were fresh and were enjoyable. The fries were hot and spicy and came with two dipping sauces: chipotle mayo & ketchup. Would come again! read more

An amazing brunch spot that isn't completely packed that serves high quality food at a decent price... in New York City? Didn't think that this sort of place existed and yet here we are. The staff at Home Kitchen were super friendly and helpful-- it helps that we were one of four tables at 11:30 for brunch on a Saturday. I ordered the breakfast platter for two with my partner, which was a lot of food for $18 each ($36 total). The food was also all great quality. Bloody Mary was also decent too. Needed a quick lunch before a MET visit. Limited menu - mainly breakfast items but some daily specials. We had the meatball sliders, French onion soup, and a mixed salad (white bean plus chicken). Quick and good service. Note this is a weekend "mom and child day out" spot so expect some irritable kids and a fleet of strollers. Damages for 3 with tip was $87. read more

Went here after the Met. Ordered kids stuff, apps - came out within 5 mins? Definitely not fresh made. We got the pot pie upon recommendation.... I dunno it was just all right and forgettably bland. Soup with a piece of puff pastry on top that was so scalding hot we waited 10 mins to dig in. Also seemed premade. Ambiance was cute and comfy.
