Wow, it has been a long time since I have had such a bad experience at a bar. Had 3 different bartenders walk straight past me while I was waiting to be served and I eventually had to flag one down after waiting over 15 minutes with them all chatting by the POS system. This is while the bar was not even busy and everyone sitting at the bar besides me had already been served. Ordered a canned cider and a margarita. Solid gastropub on the east side of Manhattan. I had some reservations with the Notre Dame flags flying, but they can't beat anyone good so I moved past it Saw the Chimay on the menu so grabbed one. Kinda interesting having it in a Stella glass, but still a great beer. The wings were your typical Buffalo wings. The Mac and Cheese with bacon was very cheesy and creamy. During my time in NYC, I got to check out this bar that offered great food. This place was the ideal spot to watch the World Cup games, all the screens had it on and the ambience was good. I ordered a chicken sandwich, my only complaint would be that it was heavily seasoned and the fried chicken crust was too salty. I was taking off the crust from the chicken to be able to eat the sandwich, which was delicious (even with the small inconvenience). Prices were fair. read more

Langos is literally a fried cheese it was soooo good and gooey. Paired well with our parmesian fries for a little cheese fries moment. The parmesian on our fries didnt stick well but overall enjoyed the dish i mean who hates fries. serving sizes were quite generous too. For entree i got the kims chi burger which was so much i couldnt even finish. came with bacon and a side of sweet potato fries which are my fries of choice - they were just the way i liked them less toasty more soggy. the burger itself i ordered medium rare and it was so juicy and tender. a solid meal with decent prices - will def return! read more

Full bar offers a good selection of beers and cocktails. Came here with a friend for happy hour. They were hosting a private event so they had to close at 7pm which they let us know upon arrival. Bummed cause the place is actually really cool and they had good music so I wish we could have stayed longer. They have happy hour from 5 - 8pm Monday to Friday which is a pretty good deal. The place was pretty empty when we got there so the service was really on point. Every 5 - 10 minutes someone would come by to make sure that we were OK. I ended up getting the summer fizz ($7 on happy hour) which was a bit sweet but tasted pretty good and did the trick. Also ended up trying their firecracker meatballs ($9 on happy hour), which had a bit of a kick to it. They were pretty good but nothing too crazy. Also tried to pulled pork sliders ($9 on happy hour) which also tasted pretty good. The bread was soft and the meat flavorful, but for $9, I could have did without. Wouldn't consider this a great deal for happy hour. Overall, a pretty solid choice for drinks and happy hour in the area. Not sure if the food is worth it but the service and drinks were great. Further I get the aesthetics of serving good on the newspapers, but we got wings served on the newspaper, and the ink was bleeding off the newspaper that it was being served on and into the sauce. Really cool pub in Midtown. We went in the middle of the day so didn't have any issues with service like some of the reviews I see here. They were attentive and fast, and they have an inspired menu. There were many more things I would've loved to try, but we got the Romanian mici sliders, which were amazing, and the Hungarian langos, which I enjoyed at first but then it got to be too much. A little too doughy and cheesy, if that's possible. Maybe if they used the same amount of dough and cheese but made two slightly thinner ones instead, it would be more balanced. Still, better than your traditional pub fare. What left me stumped was the beer selection. If you walk into a self-described gastropub in the west coast you're greeted by so much variety, ambers, stouts, saisons, etc, that you end up with decision paralysis... but in a good way (?). OMG. Do not walk by this spot without trying their food. It doesn't look like much when you walk by it but when you walk inside, the vibe is very chill and welcoming. As you can see from the photos, everything was so delicious. I don't think that there was anything that I didn't like. The food was so flavorful, presented beautifully, and very fulfilling. The kimchi pierogies were really unique. I wasn't sure that I'd like them but I'm really big into trying new things and was not disappointed. The bar was fully stocked and our service was absolutely great. Our server was very friendly as well as the bartenders. Dang, forgot to take pictures of the place and the food, but we were very impressed! Went there after the NY marathon 2023 and they handled the crowd great. Locals definitely go to the Side Door. It's a younger crowd with loud 80's/90's music. TV's everywhere for watching games also. Excellent customer service and good food. We had the Korean wings, a house salad, onion rings and beer. Lots of beer on tap and canned, but no Corona or any other Mexican beer. Had Athletic N/A, which is a favorite when we aren't drinking. Clean unisex bathrooms. What a gem! The food was hot and fresh and very flavorful. We had every intention of ordering more, but ended up with four apps, which were quite filling. There were many other items we wanted to try, we just didn't have the room. The only issue with the food was that the potatoes on the sausage plate. The oil was rancid, so the potatoes were inedible. Honestly, they weren't needed, so it didn't bother me much. Music was loud, but not loud enough to overhear conversations at the table next to us. The bartender indicated we could sit where we wanted, so we chose a table in the back. The way the waitress working that section rolled her eyes at us told me she wasn't pleased. I had such an incredible time here last night! The food is elevated bar food with an incredible twist. My favorite items were the corn ribs, pierogi with potato cheddar kimchi butter and firecracker meatballs, but honestly everything was amazing. They also had mici sliders, which were like kofta in flatbread- so tasty! Definitely a great surprise for bar food, and it was a good amount of people there to show it's a fun place, but it wasn't overcrowded. Solid burger! The meat is amazing and the cook is perfect! Well, actually the cook is one less grade so I'd you want rare order medium, etc. I ordered medium and got a *perfectly* cooked medium rare. This place has 0 local beers. For a bar in Manhattan to not support local breweries, this is a no-no. I love supporting the local economy. Jim and Harley were extremely friendly.......when you could get their attention. I timed it. It took 23 minutes and 17 seconds to get my check. That's the only reason a star was removed. This place has a mid-day happy hour, which is always a plus. I ordered a Sangria, which was pretty tasty. My coworkers had the Octoberfest and it was nice and fresh. We ordered the buffalo wings and the Korean BBQ wings, both flavors were good. We ordered two flatbreads, my favorite was the white truffle mushroom, Deeellliiiccious. Airline delays got us to NYC later than anticipated and we found Side Door near our hotel. It was fantastic! Ambiance was bar mode when we got there but it was pretty chill and the staff was very attentive. I got the fish (mahi mahi!) & chips and my son got a burger with fries - both were great! Far beyond what anyone would consider bar food. The staff did note that the online menu did not have all the same items as the paper menus so consider that when you go. Highly recommended! read more

The humongous portion came in a sizzling cast iron skillet. The meat had a crisp seared shell with tender moist pork underneath. It was accompanied by a skinless crisp baked potato with a large side of sour cream. This could have easily fed two grown men The menu was extensive with Transylvanian goulash to hamburgers. We were in town for the weekend and a good friend of mine recommended we check out the Side Door for really good food and vibes. It was indeed amazing. First of all, the executive chef Dan surprised us by speaking Spanish! Two for the girls in my party were from Costa Rica. THAT was nice! He really stood by what he said- the Romanian mititei sliders were out-of-this-world delicious! The Brussel sprouts were really nice too! I need the recipe! The music was so catchy that even when we were eating we literally had to get up and dance! So good! Kudos to Adrian Cune who was the DJ! Wanted something quick and light, so settled on the Arugula Salad ($11) and a draft beer ($8). Salad is your basic fare of arugula, tomatoes, cheese, and vinaigrette. Exactly the light salad I was looking for, pairing fine with the IPA that I ordered. The guy behind the counter is polite and constantly checked up on me, bumping the rating to four stars. When I stopped by, there were only a handful of other customers at different, very well distanced parts of the restaurant (which I prefer, being very cautious and safe).
