This was on top of already taking an excessively long time to bring out both food and drinks. While the wait staff was generLly pleasant they were pretty nasty when we asked to fix the wrong charges on our bill. Drinks were fine and the food was just ok. The best local pub! We were so lucky to find this place on a random Saturday night. It had great ambiance, fair prices, great food and drink, and the laid-back atmosphere we were hoping for to watch the game and have a few drinks. The staff are all so kind and attentive. Our server didn't miss a beat when refilling our drinks and bringing out our food. It was a great experience, and it's in a great location. When you walk in the door, the bar is on the right and tables on the left. Up a few stairs and there is the seating portion of the restaurant. Outside the front door, there is outdoor seating with restaurant service. It's on the curb with tables and a cover. The place has a nice pub feel. I got the feeling that some of the patrons were regulars. The food service was good. The restaurant plays a mix of music, some contemporary but some from the seventies, which is easy to dance to. There is no dance floor but our waitress was breaking some moves going to and from tables as she worked. We had a late lunch with French Onion soup, a mixed greens salad with balsamic vinaigrette and Fish and Chips. The salad was a fine. The chips were crisp and hot. The cod was perfectly cooked but the batter was not crisp (well, this isn't London). We ordered meatballs because we were still hungry. They were light and we took most home because our eyes were bigger than the stomach. They have music every week and trivia (or something) some night during the week. Came here for trivia. Menu has higher than normal prices even before trivia starts. When we asked about it the waitress said "You don't have to stay" in a nasty voice. They offered a limited menu because its so busy with trivia even though the entire bar area was empty. When we got the bill our group of 4 was charged a 20% gratuity. At a bar. With 4 people. We are pretty sure the waitress added this on herself knowing her service was terrible. We have been to 10 other trivia spots and every single one offers a gift card for 50 dollars and 25 dollars for first and second place. This place offered sutter wine which is 7 dollars in the supermarket. Food terrible and pricey. Drinks terrible and pricey. How do 4 people buy 2 drinks each and get 2 appetizers for the table and spend 200 dollars? We will never come back here again. read more

Three stars here means decent bar experience. We were a little disappointed in the quality of the pub food, however. I love pub and tavern food. Murphy's Law wings were a little dry, not juicy. The Shepherd's Pie was also just ok, not the superblast cozy comfort food wow that you get at some other taverns when you order Shepherd's Pie. Bartender was extremely nice, however. Old Fashioned Cocktail was A plus. The Guinness from the tap was amazing. When you get a Guinness that has been properly managed, the taste and creaminess are unbeatable. That was the case here. A safe haven in the pandemic! Your typical Irish pub: warm, welcoming and good food/beer. We had been here a few times pre-pandemic and have always been huge fans. But wow, the wings have always been amazing. Super crispy and wonderful. Beer is cheap and plentiful. I'm not even a big beer drinker and I had the Murphy's Law Red Ale which was awesome. Entrees and dinners here are always surprisingly good not to mention the super friendly staff and waiters. There are so many TVs with all the current sports games on both in and outside now! What more could you ask for?! The management here is going above and beyond to comply with all the current Pandemic Regulations. I'm so happy to see a spot doing everything they can during these though times. They've invested in heaters outside which you can actually feel! My husband and I had a great little evening here. We dined outside but the inside is also so beautifully decorated with garland and lights for the holiday season. If you're looking for a night out at an Irish bar and restaurant without the massive crowds, this is your spot! Can't wait to go back again soon. read more

Great 'real' Irish bar (Or at least real NYC/Irish bar). Stopped in for lunch and had a rare burger and a draft IPA...both of which were fabulous. When I got there no one acknowledged me for quite a while and I asked to pay while waiting to save some time but they also didn't follow up on that. So then I was left rushing around to get back to work and eat in time. I ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap with fries. It was OK. Definitely not my favorite. It had huge chunks of celery in it. This was one of the most mediocre bars I've ever been to. They had a selection of unremarkable draft beers. The service wasn't the best, but wasn't terrible. I made the mistake of getting the pretzel sticks with cheesy dipping sauce. I'm pretty sure that the pretzel sticks, which were soggy on the bottom and wrinkly on top, came straight out of the freezer. What a waste of $8. The baked potato, for $5, was a much better deal. "Standard Lunch Spot" Typically, the people that frequent this place are employees of the hospital, patients/visitors and construction workers. Murphy's Law is has decent bar food with quick and reliable service. Also, the restaurant has a midrange beer list to take the edge off of whatever may ill you. I would recommend the chicken salad wrap, the burgers (the fries are pretty good) and the french onion soup. However, the Murphy's has different daily entree and soup specials, so you can think outside of the box for your culinary delights. Personally, I like the crab-meat stuffed tilapia. I think that it is frozen seafood but I do not come here for amazing seafood, so it all good for me. The food is not the greatest in the UES but it gets the job done. Plus, you can just have 4-8 beers or cocktails to make feel better if the food is not up to your standards. read more

I've been here a few times since a lot of my other favorites in the area (Alley Way and O'Flannagan's) closed. It's a typical Irish pub. Decent beer selection and serves typical bar food. They have specials every night of the week of apps and drinks. Drink specials are decent (Wednesday is $5 wine which is a good deal). The food is okay. I had the sliders and they were pretty bare bones (no cheese, lettuce, onions, etc) as it was just a piece of meat in a bun. Still tasted alright. Boneless wings were a little oddly shaped but decent. I had their tacos at happy hour last year and they were surprisingly good. Not a bad place, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. When you walk in it's a typical bar but opens up in the back to a more of a sitting area. I walked in and was told to sit in any seat in the back. The food is pretty standard bar food. we got jalapeño poppers to start along with a beer. The beers are about $6.50/$7. For dinner my boyfriend got a burger and I got the Buffalo chicken wrap. The Buffalo chicken wrap was okay. Someone ordered chili cheese fries and they looked pretty good. I think if I came back I would stick to mostly apps to eat. read more

Went for dinner with my brother and mom after a day of moving. We were starving and exhausted and bar food was the perfect thing to eat. When you first walk in it seems very small but there is a huge back room with seating. The waitress was very nice and very irish (accent and all). We ordered the nachos, a chicken quesadilla, and a Cajun turkey burger. Everything came out pretty quickly and was very good. The quesadilla was huge and the turkey burger and fries were delicious. My nachos were also massive and very tasty. I would definitely go back to get a drink or to eat. When we were walking out someone was eating chicken wings and they smelt delicious. Ok I used to hate on here guys. They had Coors lite, Bud lite and Guinness on tap and called themselves a pub... no offense honey not gonna work if you have Pony bar as competition nearby! But hey they have straightened up. Great place for lunch! It's convenient to all the hospitals on the upper east side (Presbyterian, Sloan-Kettering, HSS). I give high marks to any place that has Guinness on draft. I was there for a late lunch around 2pm, so I'm guessing the heavier lunch crowd was over. Had a great burger and the fries were nice and hot.
