Tempura Cauliflower

Good food , cool place and great service ! We stopped by for a quick casual dinner, tried few dishes Escargot, Tempura Cauliflower and Steak Frites with a bottle of Cote du Rhône. Everything was tasty . Nice neighborhood Gastro Pub serving variety of food options .

peggy's opened a little over 1 month ago so thought i would stop by to order take out. the tempura cauliflower and vanilla custard tarts were good! there was a 4% "tech fee", which i'm guessing is a credit card fee. i like the variety on the menu, and would return to try the brisket and ribs. the staff is friendly and helpful. i also like that they have both casual outdoor seating as well as a more cozy, interior space. they don't have a website (yet?) so this seems like a local secret for now.

love the decor. everything about it was great. Thanks for a great time.

Great new varied menu. Also now on InKind. Wonderful neighborhood spot with active bar plus family atmosphere and reasonable prices.

Great service, friendly staff, with really good food. All options were great with the egg boat a bit different and very yummy.

We reserved for a quick bite at Redeye Grill before catching Dog Day Afternoon on Broadway, but as soon as we walked up, some bouncer told us they were closed for a private wedding reception. We were dazed and confused because how was I able to reserve online? But the real plot twist was that it ended up being the best thing that happened. We actually stumbled into Tanner Smith's thinking it'd be the typical, boring bar-food spot. Nope. They first sat us at a hi-top by the door, but that wasn't our vibe, so we grabbed seats at the bar instead. Best decision. Our bartender, Josiah, was absolutely killing it. My cocktail had passion fruit, so of course I asked my usual question: "But is it real passion fruit?" He just nodded in agreement and that told me everything I needed to know. That drink was legit and had nice strength. The food was great too. My fish tacos were packed with fresh fish, the guacamole and salsa were chunky and full of flavor and hubs enjoyed his pastrami sandwich. I have no clue when we'll be back in Midtown, but one thing's for sure- we're sitting with Josiah again.

For those who like a little drink with their food, during brunch they offered a number of brunch cocktails (bottomless) for $35 Food of Choice: I had the Truffle Mac and Cheese and a side of the za'tar cauliflower. Both dishes were great and filling. The cauliflower had a lot of bold flavors! The onion ring on top of the Mac and cheese was a nice touch. I couldn't really taste the truffle but I would still order the dish again.

The fries didn't disappoint, either. My husband had the JRB signature burger and he enjoyed it very much. They have a nice selection of beer and other alcohol. Two-part, proper settle, tight dome, no rushing it. That's rarer than it should be in Midtown where half the bars treat a stout like a lager. Whoever's behind the bar here has been trained or grew up around it. Food's better than a second-floor pub between 5th and 6th has any right to be. The JRB burger comes on a house-ground patty (they grind in-house, and you can tell, loose texture, actual seasoning), caramelized onions cooked down all the way, not just softened, good cheese pull. Fried pickles on the side had a crisp cornmeal shell and stayed crunchy under the burger juices, which never happens. Buttermilk chicken salad was the surprise. Chicken actually brined, crust stayed on, greens weren't an afterthought. Only real knock: music was loud. Not sports-bar loud, more like the bartender's playlist got away from him. Fine at the bar, harder at a table if you want to talk. Room's got real bones. Reclaimed barn wood, old rail track as a foot rest, that big 45-star flag on the wall. Been here almost 20 years and it's aged into itself. For the neighborhood the pricing's fair. Beats P.J. Clarke's on the burger, loses on quiet. Go for a beer and a burger, not a date.

I think The Modern was worth it! We had a table right next to the windows where you can people watch the crowd of museum goers. It was a great time, eating super fancy food and making up narratives for the people around us. I love when everything on a dish has a purpose. And you find out the purpose when you don't properly load your fork/spoon with a little bit of everything. We went with the impressions menu (the basic one? the menu changes with season so...ya) and I know people go nuts over the 'eggs on eggs on eggs' but i I have had the signature dish (The Garden of the Goose that Laid the Golden Egg) from Chef Jose Avillez's Belcanto in Lisbon and it's just not my cup of tea! So I have zero opinion on that. Everything on the menu was lovely! Worth the childcare!

Overall okay. Service was okay. View and space is gorgeous…read more We were recommended to try the hot dogs with caviar - interesting bite but not worth it. Fried chicken - delicious - probably the only great bite. The steak tartar was okay - not bad but not great either. I don't remember what exactly the pizza was but I didn't even finish my one slice of it. And then, for dessert, we were served gummy bears which was also decent.

Thanks to my fellow Yelpers, I was lead to this great spot for a late dinner and cocktails on a Friday night. The hostess was really friendly and quicky sat us at a two seater near the bar, which we appreciated. The ambiance was light and friendly and they even had a DJ playing all the good jams! I think I danced a bit, (definitely liquid courage). The DJ read the room and created a fun ambiance. The waitress came over a few minutes later and quickly took our drink and meal order. We ordered the Tuna Crispy Rice ( Yum), Guinness Wager Sliders (Nom Nom), Korean Chicken Boas (My Favorite!) and Carnitas Tacos.....I'm embarrassed to admit that we cleaned our plates like a couple of savages. Bartley Dunnes is a great choice to come solo, meet up with friends or come as a group of no more than 4, unless you make a reservation. They have a second floor that I unfortunately didn't get a chance to check out, so I can't write about that. However, I did see people coming and going straight up. I'll be back!

They have a great happy hour running from open until 8 PM, including $6 beers and $8 cocktails, which is a great deal for the area. ordered the Bartleys Spritz (Aperol Spritz) and a Tequila Mule. We sat at the bar, which runs about half the length of the space, and there were also plenty of tables throughout. The back section of the bar feels a bit separated from the main entrance area. There are some TVs throughout, and everything inside seemed fairly new and well maintained. It was not very crowded on a Tuesday early evening, so service was quick and the staff was very friendly. We did not order food this time, but everything coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled great. Overall, I would definitely recommend this spot for happy hour drinks in the MoMA/Midtown West area.
