Came here to drink and eat with friends. This was all our first time there. They have Happy hour on beer, well drinks, and wine. Their food menu is good. You have a good amount of options for a bar. Place wa packed but we were able to find a table. Service was good. I have to say there weren't a lot of servers but we didn't feel like we couldn't get their attention and they checked in on us a good amount of time. We ordered their wings, fries, and spicy chicken sandwich. Their portions will not leave you hungry and the prices are average. We decided we will be checking this place out more often. Murphy's is currently the official bar for the Pittsburgh Panthers. We came here for a game watch to kickoff the 2024 season. Our alumni club greatly appreciates them welcoming us in and displaying memorabilia around the bar. They have eight beers on draft. I opted for Sloop Brewing's Juice Bomb. They also have Blue Point, Stella, Shock Top, and a few others on draft. We appreciated that they had a few specials for our alumni group too. I had the potato and cheese pierogies which included 7 pieces in another. They were served fried alongside sour cream and I believe a salsa. They were ready quickly. I frequent this bar for lunch as it is close to my job, but I've also been here on weekends for local football (NFL) games. The food is great, some classic bar eats as well as some Irish bar eats. Service is Great as well. I recommend the buffalo chicken nachos and the spicy chicken sandwich. Can't go wrong with the Soft Pretzel and Beer cheese either. Honestly everything was good up until I noticed a really iffy hygiene thing that unfortunately drops my rating a lot - food was pretty good (burgers, fries, mozzarella sticks) and very fresh out of the kitchen. - drinks were a touch pricy, but probs in line with rest of Manhattan - big screens for sports So the alarming hygiene thing was when the person next to me at the bar asked for a lemon wedge, and the bartender brought over the entire jar of lemon wedges and gestured for him (the customer) to just dig one out with his bare hand. I then watched him put his entire hand into the jar and grab a few, and then the bartender put the jar back behind the bar. After watching that, I immediately pulled the lime wedge out of my own drink lol So that kinda makes me concerned about food standards here? This Irish owned family bar is located in Midtown on 2nd & the corner of 52nd street, right around the corner from the barber my husband went to. What a lovely warm homey welcome from the owner & staff. So nice in here. We had breakfast and a chat about, as it turns out people we both knew from back home. It was just great. Small businesses are hurting in NYC. It's so important to support them when visiting the city. So many chains & corporate organizations, they are easily overlooked. It's a pity, they offer so much more. They continue to struggle post Covid, because so many offices closed and people are working from home. We had a great time here and by New York City standards, breakfast here did not break the bank and we had fabulous gins to boot. So if you are in the area drop in, you will be very glad you did. read more

A hidden gem in Manhattan. The food was well worth the price. This place is a gastropub with TVs showing sports. I dined in here, staff occasionally asked if everything is alright. My coworkers and I visited the place on the opening night. The place was packed. The bar is still a work in progress. We ordered a couple of drinks. My margarita was not good at all, and I did not taste tequila at all. My Frieda got old-fashioned, which was sweeter than you get in the original recipe. I think to be successful in the area, they should ramp up the game. I wish them well, hope when fewer people will pay more attention to the quality of drinks. read more

Went there, had a drink, paid for it, 15 bucks. Ordered the same drink 30 minutes later, the same drink cost me 19 bucks. I told the bartender that I had the same thing and even showed him my receipt, he came back and threw the extra 2 bucks on the table. I was sitting next to a couple and they were charged for an extra drink. I think you have to pay attention when you go there. What was once Mantra 986, has now been reduced to simply "Mantra." It looked small from the outside but notably packed on the inside as I came here for a happy hour event The service and bartenders were very nice, friendly about tips, and very good with stiff drinks. The prices weren't as friendly for other typical happy hour places, as the $4 beers were only limited to a select few. Overall, the lounge factor was not as relaxing with the music blaring and the excessive crowds of midtown. The place was nice looking, perhaps almost too trendy for a restaurant setting. I ended up trying some of their "gourmet" appetizers, like their sauteed crab cakes and "Yin Yang" chicken wings. Both were a disappointment as the YY wings were simply fried wings with some out of the cheap bottle of hoisin sauce. The crab cakes was served with mango chutney and was too dry and ultimately too flakey. As the stiff drinks started to take effect, my hunger got the best of me and I ended up ordering a Kung Pao Burger for myself. It was served with wasabi fries, which were interesting, but the portion size was very limited. No matter, the burger itself was not worth the $12, it tasted like a wannabe kimchi burger with little bits of chives and garlic embedded into the meat. Mantra isn't worth it for the mediocre wannabe Asian fusion food, or the ill faded happy hour. read more

I've lived in the neighborhood for years and was excited there was a new spot. However the place is really just okay. I'm sure it's a good spot for just drinks and some appetizers. The service is a little insane; honestly that's this place's biggest downfall. There was ONE GIRL working today. She was behind the bar, seating people, waiting tables and cleaning the tables. She was a zombie. Honestly it's probably not her fault though because she was doing everything. But it meant that everything took longer. There was a water pitcher on our table from the previous customers. But we drank it anyway even thought it had clearly been there for hours because we were thirsty. The burger is a frozen patty! They are clearly not made fresh. They maintained a perfect cut patty shape like you see from the frozen section. My fiancé couldn't even finish it. The wings were drowning in what seemed to just be Franks hot sauce and we weren't given any dishes to share When asked for dishes they were just thrown down stacked up directly in front of my fiancé while he ate. I got the grilled cheese which was good but also could have been slightly more buttered like grilled cheeses tend to be. Both sandwiches got served on narrow wooden paddles. For the grilled cheese it was fine but for a giant burger it definitely didn't cover up enough space for the mess that comes with eating a burger. We sat in the back area where there's dining tables because we were actually looking to eat and not get shit faced. The group next to us were blasting their OWN MUSIC and were screaming about how drunk they are and about penises. Yes. You heard that right. No one told them to keep it down or to simply not scream about private parts. Like cmon. I most likely will not be coming back for food. But maybe just for drinks because their drink menu was the most exciting part about the place. read more

We went to Mantra after work for an early dinner and drinks. As the only patrons sitting at a table, our waitress was more concerned about flirting with the bartender than making sure our food was delivered or drinks were full. Their ginger martini tasted like rubbing alcohol with a twist of hairspray- they should use it to scrub the floors there, which hasn't been done in quite a while. Just before we passed out from starvation, what seemed to be a 12 year old illegal immigrant sweetly brought our food to the table. We were wondering why the food and drinks were so overpriced and the restaurant can't pass the savings of paying illegal workers under minimum wage onto us. My boyfriend had to walk to the bar (where the waitress was rubbing herself against the bartender) to ask for the check- the only attentive workers there couldn't speak enough English to translate. The only reason Mantra gets even one star is because the place looks like a cheap, shiny knock off of Miami, and I like that. read more

I just got back from this right now. I'm not the promoter but this was the first Monday night they had Sunset Mondays. Damn good house music with the DJ on the second level and the folks dancing right in front. This place screams Miami I LOVE IT. The DJs are talented, the drinks are decent but I've had better...I had 4 drinks for 44...so...not terrible for a nice place in the city. Mondays afterwork seems to be the right party. I'm gonna go on a Saturday in two weeks cuz my chica friend is guest bartending, I'll let Yelp know what's good when I go to that. read more

I hosted an event here a few weeks ago for about 35 people and everything went really well. It was a corporate client event and the following day, almost everyone came up to me and said they had a 'really good time'. Our party was on the second floor and there was an open bar and passed snacks for 2-hours. The bartender was attentive, the food was above average [for bar food] and the staff was extremely accommodating. I haven't been here for anything other than this event, so I'm not sure what it would be like for just a regular night of drinking or happy-hour but I 100% recommend this space for any private party or something similar. read more

Perhaps it was because I was already lit with the pregame party I had prior to coming-- or the fact that I didn't have to pay cover, but I had a good time here. I don't know if they serve food or not, but it smelled like curry downstairs which was kinda foul. The crowd wasn't your usual pretty crowd however they were all pretty chill and fun. I only bought 1 round so I can't say that prices were outrageous. Why did I like it so much? They had a great DJ on Friday nights that played old school and hip hop. My friends and I had no hassles getting the 3 tables and had the whole back area to ourselves-- much like a personal club. One gross part I remember was the clogged up toilet which was pretty gross. Wasn't a fan, but overall I had a good time. Sad to see such poor reviews. Maybe if you all came drunk it would be better too? I'm just glad I didn't smell like curry when I left. read more

Hit this spot for happy hour with some friends. The drinks were priced reasonably. The food was good for norm nyc bar restaurant. We did have a good bartender who provided guidance with some food selections. There is dj and dancing later in the evening. This was a cute little place although I think we were there a bit too long. The black-and-white wallpaper is lovely and rather unexpected for a lounge-bar sort of atmosphere, but aside from that, this is all too typical. The setup would be much better suited to a quieter, vintage-y cocktail bar, but the location and the strictly-top-40 music selections make it a hotspot for afterwork 25-35 types who work in midtown. One word: dull. If you're a girl, be prepared to get hit on by overconfident guys who work in finance. I'm generally not a fan of bi-level clubs, because that means the club in question can get away with making both floors much smaller than they'd otherwise be able to be -- and hence borderline unnavigable due to the crowds. read more

Mantra 986 has an amazing ambiance, great crowd, rock'n dj's and their drinks are good. the appetizers are much better than what you would expect a bar to serve. I ordered a lychee-tini and they had to send someone out for the lychee cause they had none.
