Worst bar experience of my life. The fact that the service here was so bad was so surprising especially in a place like New York where I could go anywhere else. When we sat down the bartender came and said "don't get too comfortable you guys have to order first" instead of saying something like "what can I get you guys". And then after that refused to give us water because all we ordered was water and 1 drink among 5 people. Post-dinner, my group came here for a drink or two and there was ample space in this bar which we preferred. Sat at a table in the back and the waitress was friendly and was consistent in checking in on us and making sure we had enough drinks. Plenty of televisions for sports games. Had a weird experience here on Saturday night. My friend ordered two shots from the bartender. I ordered two shots from the other bartender. She got her shots and the bill, the other bartender came over with my shots and the bill, saw her two shots, said oh you already got them, took my shots and handed them to two random girls sitting at the bar and then proceeded to give me the bill. I said I didn't get my shots why are you giving me a bill? He said you got shots from the other bartender... I said yes and we got a bill. We went back and forth for a while but he ended up finally making two more shots. I'm not sure why he was so quick to charge me when he easily handed over my shots for free. Our first impression was mostly positive. We called for a Sunday brunch reservation this morning and not only got the time requested, but a "reserved" card was on our booth table awaiting our arrival. We had to show our COVID-19 vaccination cards and matching I.D. The three of us all ordered omelettes with different ingredients. I ordered mine with mushrooms, onions and bacon. My wife ordered hers with feta cheese and veggies. Our friend ordered hers with extra cheddar and veggies. The kitchen brought out my wife's and our friend's without cheese and mine had the bacon and the feta ... our orders were all jumbled, but the chef came out and offered to fix them all. The omelettes came with string fries and a choice of only soft white or whole wheat toast. My toast was cold and I had to butter it myself. However, the bacon was cooked exactly as I ordered it and I enjoyed the omelette. This Sunday brunch special came with a choice of a Bloody Mary or a Mimosa. Our waitress (Savanah), who was very nice and checked on us frequently, explained (at my request) that they used a mix instead of tomato juice for the Bloody Mary and that they make their Mimosas with orange juice and Prosecco, so we all ordered the Mimosas and enjoyed them. I'm guessing, but it tasted and felt like there was more Prosecco than OJ! I also ordered coffee with half-and-half and Splenda, but they didn't have either. They didn't have any sugar substitutes, but they did have milk. So, I ordered the coffee black and it was very good (so was the refill). My wife had soda. It had a pleasant and friendly pub atmosphere, more men than women, lots of large TV screens with simultaneous football and soccer games, but the TVs were a bit too loud, so we had to lean forward to hear each other chatting. We were happy to see each other, took some photos, and had fun. There was a jukebox that takes credit cards. There was a heated outdoor room with several tables by the curb that also had TV. They advertised live music Wednesday nights and a party room downstairs. For the three of us, after tax and credit card fee, it was only $60. For the Upper East Side, it seemed like a very good deal. My wife was the first to say she wanted to come back and reminded me to leave a nice tip. read more

I came for a quick bite on a Saturday after a nearby workout class and ended up staying for like three hours!!! As a neighborhood bar, this place is as good as it gets - decent pub and brunch food and a nice array of beers&liquors. The bartender, Steph, was really nice, funny, and outgoing. She actually started conversations with the patrons of the bar, rather than pouring drinks and randomly checking on folks. Even the owner was cool. I checked into Dylan Murphy's on Yelp and noticed that you and three friends get a free shot with the check in. I did not inquire about the deal since I was eating/drinking solo (in my defense I planned to have one beer with my breakfast) ; and the owner asked Steph to give me shot. So what if it was only 11 am, it's 5 pm somewhere. Although I do not really go to the UES too much these days, I probably will visit again after that cardio class. So glad we discovered this gem on the UES. They have very spacious and comfortable outdoor seating (with heaters) and 2 large screens to watch games. The food is very solid - we went for the Shepherd's Pie and Bangers and Mash, which were nicely plated and very good. The mashed potato was creamy and the sausage was tender and flavorful. Sunday brunch was uneventful. It was empty and the bartender had a look of apathy on her face. Perhaps it was a long exhausting night. The energy was unwelcoming and cold. If you are not an UES hipster you might stand out and get the blank stare. Nonetheless, the brunch was good, filling, served quickly and in all fairness the bartender was at least gracious enough to check in while we ate to make sure we were satisfied with our meals. If ever in the area, we would still be inclined to drink and dine there but we don't have any immediate plans to hang out on the UES anytime again soon. As a fairly regular customer and friend recommended dylan murphy's, another friend and I paid it a visit. Given that the recommending patron is fun loving and easy going-but also an adult professional, we expected an unstuffy, young, and lively venue but for basic professionalism to be a bit higher. A rather child like staff member rudely and repeatedly nudged and reached over my friend at the bar, rather than inform us we were standing in a spot she wanted to use to pick up drinks and ask us if we would clear some space (which we would have been happy to do). When my friend protested this, the staff person was in her in her face like a college kid at a frat party. I literally observed the staff person baiting and antagonizing by intentionally pushing and leaning her body into my friend although she had ample space, stating she would move "when I'm done". At no point had this staff person been menaced or harassed. To have reacted to this staff member with what she deserved would have required a mature adult to tangle with a virtual child. The manager, himself a mature adult who appeared shortly after I was overheard telling my friend I was intending to speak with one (given the complete lack of customer acknowledgment this was no doubt his staff getting in the first word) had a reasonable demeanor, but dismissive and unapologetic input. Our experience seems to be what's reflected in these reviews, whereby the venue is largely positive but unfortunately staff are allowed to treat patrons with disrespect and unkindness on select occasion. As an adult professional now myself with 10 years of prior experience in the restaurant industry as a NYC bartender, waitress, and host in venues twice as full, we were organized enough to have our service stations clearly allocated and never treated our customers with this kind of disrespect when they were "in our way" due to our own disorganization. It's a plus for staff to be cute and spunky when working in a pub of this kind, but you also have to be skilled in your craft and in basic conduct. If you're in the weeds enough to frazzle with your bar at capacity, you need more experience or you're not up to the job. I completely get dylan murphy's zest for maintaining a younger, more dive like niche that's working quite well for them, and that having staff reflect one's niche is very key to their business model. As a business owner I would do the same. It's also a reflection on the fortitude and oversight of the establishment's management more broadly that their staff have unchecked reign. Given the majority of the reviews, I'm certain we could have also had a much different and more positive experience in a different spot, on a different day, etc... Just know that, as we and others have experienced, if you do not it might not matter. read more

Service was without life as the waiter has no facial expression of dysthemia, which as the better person I kill her with sprightly lively joy of smiles. The waitress glared at me as if there were something wrong with me for her response!! Does it kill one to smile sincerely to patrons after placing their order, who is employed in the hospitality and customer service environment?? I've been in the customer service industry far too long of six years to know of good customer service!!! Upper East Side's Irish pub to check-in the ongoings of one's sport team(s) and induce the spirit of merriment in group settings. On a Saturday night it was rather quite dead or was the ailing economy discouraging patrons from a night of good clean fun??
