Eagles game with sound
Kerry E.

Came here for a 1pm Eagles game. It also coincided with the New York marathon, so I believe it was busier than usual with the race just a few blocks over. The inside was great with various art listed. Lots of places to sit including tables and high tops that look like whiskey barrels, but it was very hard to find a seat. We should have come in a bit earlier. I think they were understaffed, but all the service was very friendly and didn't show stress to their guests. Bar was prompt but the kitchen was on a 45 min wait with the crowd. You order everything at the bar (no waitress) and they sort of find you with your order. We all got Philly cheesesteaks with curly fries. The fries were great, but the cheesesteak was lacking some meat. I enjoyed the added peppers on them, even if it's not on a classic cheesesteak. Would definitely come back for a birds game when in the city.

I went here on a whim on my own after getting my nails done nearby. The vibe was very much a bar/pub scene. I asked the bartender what her fave drinks were and she made me a great drink! Very kind and friendly. I then ordered a Shepard's pie which was nice and warm but taste-wise pretty disappointing. Thankfully there was salt on the table because it definitely needed more flavor. Might be back just for the bartender and drinks and hopefully order something else for food that will be much better!

Review Number 200. FINALLY! This was one of the first bars I came to when I moved to New York six or seven years ago. It became a steady favorite and I became a regular not just because I lived around the block but because there was such a communal warm feeling about coming into this place that we had dubbed it as our 'Cheers'. Also, 3 people were living in a one bedroom and this became second home. I finally made it back the other weekend. I rarely end up on the Upper East side because of the construction and don't really have any friends in the area but someone had wanted to check out the Met and that was good enough reason for me to draw them in here. The bar has been re-vamped with both decoration, more beers, more on their menu, and ski ball/pinball machines that definitely didn't exist when I was a regular. New deals as well with a free burger with the purchase of a beer. And its not too shabby of a burger. What I was most impressed though with is seriously their beer selection that encompasses two walls. I was so mesmerized that it took me ten minutes to decide. I would be in trouble for happy hour if I still lived near by because almost everything on tap has some kind of deal. There's a pbr/shot special. And if that doesn't sell you enough, deals on wells and a pitcher of beer with free wings deal. Not only that, the staff is super and Karl the owner is really dedicated to creating a great bar and making everyone happy.

You order at the Bar now. My bartender friend Colin moved to Fl. 2/19/17

Fucking yuck. Great location nearby the Q/96 stop. Bad staff, bad food. Don't waste your time.

Yep, other reviews are right. Incredibly and unnecessarily rude. I don't expect a pub to be friendly... But you don't need to be nasty.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with champagne, which immediately set the tone for a special evening. Our server, Daniel, was beyond amazing. He was warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making our anniversary meaningful. It never felt forced just thoughtful, polished hospitality. The team went above and beyond when we brought our wedding cake (which had been frozen for a year). Not only did they accommodate it without hesitation, they helped decorate and present it beautifully you would have thought it had been baked that same day. It was such a touching moment for us, and they handled it with care and enthusiasm. As for the food: incredible. The steak tartare was perfectly balanced and beautifully prepared. The tuna was fresh and vibrant. And the Beef Wellington... honestly one of the best I've had in New York City. Perfectly cooked, rich, elegant, and absolutely worthy of a celebration dinner. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance: romantic, warm, refined but relaxed. It felt special without being stiff. If you're looking for a place to celebrate something meaningful, this is it. We will absolutely return.

I found the hodgepodge of old-timey decor to be a bit kitsch, but to each their own. I came with a group on a weeknight with no reservation. We were seated immediately on a high wood table. Although the bar wasn't busy (there were plenty of empty spaces, small groups scattered throughout the area), the service was quite slow. The server was inattentive and took a while to take our orders. We had to ask her for water three times, searching for her across the room in an attempt to catch her attention. She was a bit absent during the two-ish hours we were there. On the bright side, the drinks were fairly good. I ordered this strawberry vodka cocktail topped with whole mint. I'm wary of vodka for its harsh, unpleasant taste, but I found this drink to actually be very pleasant, tasing like a fruit smoothie you'd get from a local juicer. There was also a burgundy drink served on a wine glass that tasted like the holidays. I liked that one quite a bit. Overall, Oscar Wilde was an okay experience. It's certainly a bar for a certain type of crowd, and the service was lacking, but maybe we went on a bad night. Maybe if you're lucky, you'll be served better than we were.

Always a solid choice, though it could have been a bit colder. The bartenders were very nice and attentive, and the place clearly has a strong group of regulars. There was a friendly, familiar energy in the room that made it feel welcoming right away. Once my friend arrived, I tried "The Greatest Espresso Martini" and asked to swap the vodka for bourbon. They were very accommodating, and the drink turned out delicious. Rich, smooth, and good enough that I ordered a second. Unfortunately, our server only heard that 5 of us wanted afternoon tea, and one of the tiers of food was smaller than the others. We also had to pay extra for additional tea, which we were fine with, but service was severely lacking throughout. Our server didn't check up on us, and seemed to want us to leave quickly after dropping off the check. We would have been happy to pay the $65 each for afternoon tea, but it wasn't worth it and frankly, I was agitated by the whole ordeal by the time I left. We were also disappointed by the food items (as they were lacking) and nothing about this was like other experiences we had with other afternoon teas. I can't in good faith recommend this place, nor do I see myself coming back after the atrocious service we experienced.
