Great atmosphere right when you walk in. I stopped by for a quick beer and restroom break while shopping--service was fantastic, the bartender was attentive, and the beer was cold. Highly recommend if you're in the area to watch the game or grab a drink.

A lovely neighborhood bar in the middle of the upper east side. The bartenders are super attentive even when they're busy, the crowd is a little on the older side but it makes sense for the neighborhood that they're in. They also have a lot of TVs and play different games that are on. The only reason that this doesn't get given stars is because their wine tasted old (like the bottle had been open and left in the fridge for a while) but that's also my fault for ordering wine at a neighborhood bar-- I should know better lol. Come for a beer or an actual cocktail that they make fresh and skip the wine!

Very clean bar with ice cold beer and great service. We popped in for a quick drink but ended up staying for a few because the atmosphere was so enjoyable.

I've been meaning to write a review about this place for so long, that I'm ashamed that I'm so late with it. Carlow East has become my home away from home (so to speak) since 2020. I had gotten used to socializing at Crimson & Rye, but the pandemic killed the business (as well as my previous lifestyle). It was a different crowd than I had gotten used to, but eventually, it grew on me. My best friend was responsible for my going there and I've had some of the best times of my life at Carlow. I've been inviting family and friends there since 2021. My brother (who used to live on the Upper East Side like I did) comes from his home in Connecticut sometimes to get a drink or four. That's how special that place is. The drinks are reasonably priced, the bartenders are friendly, the owner is cool af, and their hostess is terrific! They're all like family to me. You'll definitely see some old faces there (not that there's anything wrong with that), but people who look like they're still in junior high school visit as well (they card, so don't take what I've said to mean that they let kids drink). It has a diverse crowd and I've been fortunate to have met people from all over the world at Carlow. I have a fascination for different languages and cultures, so this is a boon for me. Just before I wrote this review, I planned to go there tonight, and I invited a young lady to accompany me. One of the shots that I've uploaded here shows me, my best friend, and a gentleman known as Mr. Hayes. He was a regular who died recently. The reason that I mention him is to give you an idea of how good the atmosphere can be. Mr. Hayes was a pool shark. People would look at this old man and think they could beat him at the game. He would pretend to be feeble which made his opponents overconfident. That man racked up more wins than I can remember. LOL But he was family to the young and the old. Family! That's what it feels like every time I set foot in that pub. I don't mean to say that you'll have a good time every time, but that kind of thing is rare. If it does nothing for you the first time, come back and give it another go. I guarantee you'll come to love it. The aesthetics are pretty average and has what I assume most pubs have, but you don't go for the decor, you go for the experience. Bottoms up!

The service was amazing. They have me my drink and a water with lemon right after. It was a little busy but always made sure I was topped off.

When my BF lived in NYC, this was the premiere location to catch a Seahawks game. So that's exactly what we did while visiting. I liked this place a lot. The bartender was really funny and I appreciated his "Don't like it? GTFO!" attitude. Several beers on tap and a full bar. No food but it's allowed to bring food in, so that's what we did as well. I like the vibe here and I'd recommend this place. Lots of TV's too.

This pub does not have food and the bar tender was as disinterested as could be. Pub was clean and bathroom was suitable. We won't be back.

Amazing staff and plenty of drink options. This is a great stop for a game and ironically a Seahawks bar all the way out in NYC

What are the Happy Hour Specials?

What food is there?

Food is not served there, but you can bring your own food and eat there if you like. I usually get a slice of pizza from a pizzeria three doors away from Carlow and sit in the pub and have a beer with my slice.

Cuisine: 8 Service: 7…read moreDecor: 7 Value: 8 Overall: 8 Four of us came here because I heard their fish and chips are very good. I am a sucker for this famous British/Irish deep fried goodness. Well, I can say without a doubt that this version is excellent (8.5/10) as described. The dish comes with three pieces that are crispy and tender. However, they gotta make a better tartar sauce than the ones they served in packets. Also, we switched out chips for onion rings. They were fantastic! I also really enjoyed their French Onion Soup (8/10) and the Shepherds Pie (7.5/10). The soup was flavorful without being too salty like most restaurants, while the pie had relatively fluffy mash potato with tasty ground beef mixture. The only item that was a slight letdown was the Chicken Pot Pie (6/10). The puff pastry was decent and so was the cream sauce. The problem was the overcooked and dry chicken breast meat. Our server was very friendly and always had a smile on her face. Btw, even though the space was basically a dive bar, the energetic 60's and 70's music was definitely a plus. Therefore, I gave it a slightly higher score for decor. All in all, this was a great experience.

And that is why I boycotted them. Everything was very lax at that time, with little enforcement from the SLA. In October, my partner and I headed back to try their Irish breakfast and to see how things had improved. At the time, a large party was being held in their backroom, and we were not prepared to wait forever. We asked to speak with the owner, Mike Peacock, and told him we had to be at church to ring the church bells. We appreciated his dedication to getting us our food on time, but to be really honest, the Irish breakfast was not the best that could have been made.

I cannot believe I lived in this area this long and never had their brunch! Shame on me!!!!! When…read morewe walked in on a saturday at around 1:30pm it was pretty packed. There was seating in the front in the corner. I was very happy about this because its snowing outside and I love watching the snow fall. They have $11 Bellini with $5 refills which isn't so bad. I ordered the Fluffy omelet with veggies. I was pleasantly surprised when I bit into the goat cheese. Cheese is always a win in my book!!! The eggs were made well there was NO shell thank kittens! There was also a garden salad with toast! I love that we get our own butter to put on the toast, some places put too much butter. $17 for my food in case that is important to anyone. :::BATHROOM ALERT::: LOVE that it is unisex. Its very roomy! There is a nice wooden changing tables for the mommas and the papa. The bathroom is kept clean which is always a green flag! You treat the bathroom good usually the food is good. Good amount of soap and toliet paper! Very happy about this! The service was good for how packed it was, I appreciate the wait staff! I love that there was a little cherry at the bottom of my Bellini. They have whatever game playing and music at the same time. I wasn't watching the American soccer game just enjoying the vibes and the music. The menu is a QR code, no paper menus lets go!! They have a lot of draft beers here that you can check out in other yelpers posts. The non alcoholic section of booze is very cool, everyone is included. This place is also kid friendly. This place isn't for you if you're impatient to get drunk! The decor is a wood feel like you're upstate in a cabin. Very cozy! I love the steam punk looking lights! Very rustic feel to the corner spot that we were sitting in. I didnt catch their wifi password but I'm sure if you ask they will give you the password. There is outlets under the bar to charge your phone. Also in the front where we were there was an outlet in the other corner. While they don't take reservations I could see myself coming back with a group to sit in the corner. I wonder what their Friday nights are like. I don't recommend takeout, come to their location and enjoy the food fresh.

The spice box was really tasty! The curry sauce was realllll addictive and the spicy/salty/smokey sweet balance hit perfectly. It's a bit oily and the chicken was slightly dry, but the flavor more than made up for it. If you close your eyes and drink enough of their beers on draft, you could probably convince yourself you're in Dublin after a night out. The ambiance was solid with a cozy indoor setup and small outdoor section. I can only speak for the ~5:30pm ambiance, but the night vibe here was apparently good enough that my friend's friend got a girl's number here. Service was chill and friendly. Price-wise, $23 for chicken and fries felt steep, but the very reasonable happy hour beer pricing balanced the scales. Definitely recommend it if you're looking for a classic Irish pub in LIC or if TikTok convinced you to hunt down a spice bag.
