Absolutely incredible! I loveeee trying unique dishes and this place is a home run for that. Corn ribs....what?!?!? I enjoyed every second of my night yesterday. The food was okay, might have been better if it didn't take almost 2 hours for us to get bar food. I came in with a couple friends, no one was eating (should have been the first sign) The server was friendly, and granted she seemed to be the only one working (again, it was extremely slow) but there was a point where we clearly wanted to inquire about the wait on the food, and she actively ignored us. First of all, I ordered a sprite and got tonic. Was not a great first sip. The food wasn't great. We got chicken wings and they just tasted old. There was a miscommunication with the order. I wanted to sub my side fries with onions rings. Instead I just got a whole side order of onion rings in addition to the fries. The menu labeled the onion rings as "IPA Onion Rings"- that leads me to believe they would be some kind of IPA beer batter.... They were just normal frozen onion rings. Customer service not great. Before I could answer that question, 2 hours past by before I had any of those beverages served to my table by the staff here. I had to try to serve myself at one point, and brought an empty jug to the empty bar from my table to ask if they could be filled only to be completely dejected by a "just leave them there" from the bartender while he spent 3 minutes eyeballing the perfect amount of chopped apples for his signature sangria. went with my wife on 1/18 /23 at about 6pm for dinner .The bar crowded/lively on Wednesday evening . but almost all the tables in the back area were empty... front and back hostess stands both empty...asked for a table for 2 for dinner to the confused younger man in the back.. he pointed to a table for 4 and said he couldn't seat us there .We pointed to the empty table for 2 in the back (almost all the tables were empty regardless) & he looked perplexed and then went and spoke to the bartender for a good 2-3 minutes(cant imagine what they were talking about but kept looking over at us ) .The bartender then shook her head no disapprovingly as she looked over at us again (?!...Bizarre., maybe they didnt want anyone older than 20s/30s... i have no idea ,we were simply meeting there after work).We just moved to the neighborhood and eat out/order out most nights --have already taken out from Side door (food mediocre but we liked the idea of supporting our neighborhood sports bar and figured we would try eating in) .BTW we were also going to take back another 2 meals for our kids that eve , Anyway ,we walked out bewildered and decided to walk for a minute as we were both upset ..walked over to try a new place to us, Yara--excellent place with live music om 53rd and 2nd (a little pricier but when we did takeout from sidedoor a few weeks earlier , the salad with protein cost 25$, Yara wasnt much of a stretch in price but big difference in quality and atmosphere ). Anyway, given that Side Door is about 200 feet from our apartment...and we eat out a lot as a family and with groups of friends ..this incident will cost side door a good of amount of business indefinitely. Great place! Food is very good, not just regular bar food. They make their own spin on european cuisine, while keeping the traditional flavors. Atmosphere is fun, there are TVs for games, and they have a DJ playing fun dancing music some nights as well. The staff is very friendly and the owners mingle with their guests, getting to know everyone. Highly recommend for a low key good time :) read more

Our last stop before heading back home after a quick overnight in the city. Checked out of nearby hotel and arrived a little before noon. They have a great brunch special- but the bottomless drinks were not ideal since we would be driving. No worries- sat at bar and ordered off the regular menu. Bartender John was super-efficient and friendly. DJ was playing a lot of pop 80s music, setting a relaxed vibe. It felt like the place you would go to on a Sunday or for happy hour, if you lived on the neighborhood. Several tvs over bar playing NY1 and sports. When we walked in it was pretty empty (just before noon) and TBH we weren't sure if we'd stay, but John's friendly welcome solidified our decision to grab a couple of spots at the bar. While we were there spots started filling up- with what seemed like a combination of first-timers and regulars. The menu offered a pretty wide range of interesting options that I wouldn't expect at a typical pub. Really enjoyed the Eastern European- inspired dishes. I had the goulash croquettes and the Mici sliders. I must've said 20 times how much I loved them. Delicious:)! DH had the Caesar Salad w Chicken. The lettuce was grilled- nice touch! I ordered a Bloody Mary- I am pretty particular about my Bloody. I like it w spice & horseradish -- and I have tried so many over the years. Some ranging from watery, spiked tomato juice to perfection with garnishes that cover the entire glass. This Bloody was simply garnished w a slice of lime- but what it lacked in garnish, it made up for in taste and texture. I had a great experience at this place. From the moment I came in, the staff was very friendly and made me feel very welcomed. I was pleased to see that they take Covid seriously. They check your temperature and make you fill out a form for tracing. The were very apologetic for the inconvenience which it wasn't at all. You can easily fill it out on your phone! I decided to go in for a drink after a work meeting but I ended up having 4 (no judgment!) and staying there longer than expected. The Old Fashioned was perfectly done and their fried Calamari was delicious! They also have some other very interesting food items on the menu (like the creme brûlée cheesecake) which I can't wait to try next time I'm there. They just opened 2 weeks ago, so that's probably why there aren't any other reviews yet. Had a very tasty dinner with my husband after a long week at work. The food was SO GOOD. My husband had corned beef-a St Patty's Day special, and I had Shrimp flatbread. My husband said it was the best corned beef he ever had, and the flatbread was so full of flavor while still being light. Great bank of tvs going with the basketball games, and a DJ who was playing all my favorites from the 80s (Madonna, Prince, Talking Heads). Mellow and friendly crowd in the bar. Great Restaurant! was here in December with friends, had the Fried chicken, Lobster Roll, and Brussel sprouts. The fried Chicken was incredible! so juicy and breaded just right. Lobster roll had a generous portion of lobster on a buttered roll, and the Brussel sprouts with the cherry glaze,off the hook! Great staff, and lots of choices to choose from on the Delivery menu!
