Came here mostly for the history and old-school NYC vibe, but honestly, it didn't quite live up to the expectation. We were seated at this awkward table right by the oyster counter--basically tucked under like we were hiding beneath a bar, which didn't feel great. They didn't have the dish we initially wanted, didn't have the beer we asked for, and surprisingly... no Tabasco at an oyster bar? Ended up with the chopped steak and a burger. The chopped steak turned out to be just a burger patty on soggy baguette--not what we imagined. Sauce was tasty, but still disappointing if you're expecting, well, steak. The burger was okay, but the bun looked kind of thrown together. Service was slow and not super attentive--we missed our chance to order when the drinks came and had to wait quite a while to flag someone down again. Nice to tick it off the list, but not somewhere I'd be rushing back to.

Very friendly service. Food came out very fast. Perfect cosmo. Perfect Guinness. I got the PJs 1884 cheeseburger, which they cook exactly how you like. The fries are plentiful, thin, crisp and salty. Just a great, unfussy meal in a neighborhood where that's hard to come by.

Did I order a lobster roll at a burger place...yes I did and it was INCREDIBLE! The roll was buttery and soft and the lobster was so delicious I wish I had more. We started with the honey butter bread loaf and the cheesesteak egg rolls both fantastic. The staff was attentive getting our drinks and our food delivered to us fast. The place itself feels like walking into an old pub. The food was delicious and I'll be thinking about that lobster roll for days

When in NYC, why wouldn't you go to PJ Clarke's! Love the midtown location! Great bar atmosphere, not stuffy but upbeat and festive, a place to have a good time. Are in the bar area, so ordered at the bar. Bartender was great with a good sense of humor. Good dirty martini to take the edge off a busy day!! Paired it with some hamburger sliders and it was a meal for royalty.

I love this place! Old school business lunch meeting place, but I was just meeting a good friend. I arrived first and let the hostess know that there were 2 of us, she said to let her know when my friend arrived and she would seat us. The place was very busy as it was lunchtime, my friend arrived and we were quickly seated in the back room. Service was quick, I ordered a PJs 1884 Cheeseburger with Bacon and fries. Food came quickly and my burger was awesome, as expected. Perfectly cooked and hot, as were the fries. Service was friendly and attentive, especially given how busy it was. Overall, a great meal, a great place to meet friends and a great place to eat. While there are many good places just like this in NYC, I will defienly come back.

LOVED this place. Walked in and just saw the bar. Then you walk back and get greeted by the host and walk to the back part with a candle lit dinner as if it's a steakhouse they recommend the burger. We all got burgers and were blown away by them and the onion strings. P.J Clarke's is a great fun spot to go to

We challenge you to experience the excellent service and wonderful oysters that we had while served by Israel at PJ Clarkes. We're the current oyster eating champs, beat us!

A decent spot for after work drinks and dinner! The ambiance is super old school and the burger was actually amazing! The service was a bit weird, with our server forgetting our drinks and getting my friend's burger order mixed up. Even with those minor hiccups, I would come back!

This is a Burger joint with a history. Apparently they have been in business since 1884. Casual atmosphere with plastic table cloths and lots of vintage Pics on wall. We arrived Sunday 5:15pm Ordered our food at 5:20. At 5:30 Cauliflower side came but it was cold so we sent it back At 5:43, the food arrived An extensive and varied menu with seafood , pasta and much more. We heard they were known for their burgers so we went with that. We ordered the Jalapeño burger and the three slider assortment. The Sliders, ordered "medium" were a bit dry. The Bottom Buns on all of the burgers were soggy so we just ate around them by eating insides with a fork. The Frys were dry and cool as if they had been pre-cooked and sitting under a heat lamp for over an hour. 6:09 we paid about $140 (with tip) and left. Although there is some attraction because they are an iconic NYC restaurant , I don't think PJ Clarkes is anything special. High prices with Mediocre service and mediocre food.

Came here to ruin any progress made from a pilates class 15 mins prior lolol Loved the old school interior and eclectic collection of vintage/original photos. Most of us ordered beer to drink alongside fish n chips. One person ordered the burger trio and someone else got the steak. Everyone seemed to love their food! I thought the F&C was perfect. great fry, seasoning, crispy yet fluffy fries + cups of malt vinegar, ketchup, and tartar on the side. Large portion, too. Ample seating inside and around the bar. Was pleasantly surprised to learn that they have an oyster bar and other fresh seafood options! Great find for a casual lunch, super low-key in the middle of Midtown East.

Our office party was held a couple of weeks ago at this location. From the minute you walk through the door on the second floor, the excellent service starts with the coat check lady. Their hor dourves were so delicious. I actually stood across from the bar and tried every hor dourves that came out. The servers were so friendly and attentive. I ordered a Cranberry Orange juice, but I will have to ask if they have a bottle of Moscato D'Asti next year. The buffet was set out very nicely on the other side of the floor. I think I got on line too early because I ended up with a well done piece of the Prime Rib. I will have to ask for a slice in the middle next year, I like it medium rare. The Salmon and sides were good. The desserts were extra yummy. I am looking forward to chowing down again at next year's holiday party!!

I came here for happy hour one day after work. The service was ok. It could have been better. They don't let you sit in the back room unless you are ordering off the menu. If you are not ordering food, they say you have to stay in the front where there is less seating. I mostly stood around the bar.

My husband has always wanted to have a meal at the historic PJ Clarke's. Absolutely lovely place. Casual and indeed historic without hitting people over the head with it. The entire team was warm, friendly, and welcoming. Servers were attentive and accommodating. I wish I had gotten the cheeseburger but my salmon salad was one of the best I've ever had. The vegetables were crisp and crunch and the salmon was perfectly seared and cooked to medium. Loved it. We'll be back for sure!

Way disappointed with recent visit. The place has lost its mojo. No more wedge salad with blue cheese, no more simple burger.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with champagne, which immediately set the tone for a special evening. Our server, Daniel, was beyond amazing. He was warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making our anniversary meaningful. It never felt forced just thoughtful, polished hospitality. The team went above and beyond when we brought our wedding cake (which had been frozen for a year). Not only did they accommodate it without hesitation, they helped decorate and present it beautifully you would have thought it had been baked that same day. It was such a touching moment for us, and they handled it with care and enthusiasm. As for the food: incredible. The steak tartare was perfectly balanced and beautifully prepared. The tuna was fresh and vibrant. And the Beef Wellington... honestly one of the best I've had in New York City. Perfectly cooked, rich, elegant, and absolutely worthy of a celebration dinner. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance: romantic, warm, refined but relaxed. It felt special without being stiff. If you're looking for a place to celebrate something meaningful, this is it. We will absolutely return.

I found the hodgepodge of old-timey decor to be a bit kitsch, but to each their own. I came with a group on a weeknight with no reservation. We were seated immediately on a high wood table. Although the bar wasn't busy (there were plenty of empty spaces, small groups scattered throughout the area), the service was quite slow. The server was inattentive and took a while to take our orders. We had to ask her for water three times, searching for her across the room in an attempt to catch her attention. She was a bit absent during the two-ish hours we were there. On the bright side, the drinks were fairly good. I ordered this strawberry vodka cocktail topped with whole mint. I'm wary of vodka for its harsh, unpleasant taste, but I found this drink to actually be very pleasant, tasing like a fruit smoothie you'd get from a local juicer. There was also a burgundy drink served on a wine glass that tasted like the holidays. I liked that one quite a bit. Overall, Oscar Wilde was an okay experience. It's certainly a bar for a certain type of crowd, and the service was lacking, but maybe we went on a bad night. Maybe if you're lucky, you'll be served better than we were.

Our server didn't check up on us, and seemed to want us to leave quickly after dropping off the check. We would have been happy to pay the $65 each for afternoon tea, but it wasn't worth it and frankly, I was agitated by the whole ordeal by the time I left. We were also disappointed by the food items (as they were lacking) and nothing about this was like other experiences we had with other afternoon teas. I can't in good faith recommend this place, nor do I see myself coming back after the atrocious service we experienced.
